All of us May mummies are BACK like the Terminator only less deadly (unless preggo rage strikes and we're within waddling distance of sharp things)

MasterFlea DS was given that book for Xmas, it's good isn't it! We also have Za-Za's Baby Brother, and the Miffy book about the new baby too. DS likes reading them, and has started to tell me how his brother will do this and that, so they have helped.

MrsFooCough · 13/02/2014 20:14

moom I'm a bit panicky about lasting too long as well. First babies can often take frickin AGES to turn up. Our best man and his girlfriend have been in labour since Tuesday night. And THAT was 6days "overdue". It's her first Confused

So I'm a bit nervous too! My plan is stock up on raspberry leaf tea, clary sage oil and hot spicy noms. All three promote contractions. Clary sage oil is an aromatherapy oil that very strongly promotes contractions, so maybe speak to your midwife or someone on here beforehand who's used it in previous PGs? But raspberry leaf tea is a safe way to encourage labour to start "on time" Smile as is spicy food! Which I love anyway Grin

You never know what might happen - my first was @ 36 weeks and 4hrs 30mins from first pain to placenta delivery :)

Bezzabelle · 13/02/2014 21:30

We've got that book for ds too. He also likes watching the baby centre videos of the baby developing in the tummy especially the one where baby has hiccups!! I got told to make sure that the first time ds meets baby, I'm not holding him but rather new baby is hospital cot or something which I think does make sense.

Bornin1984 · 14/02/2014 10:16

A comment about a thread .....4 months old and the mother wants to introduce her to iPad/iPod apps that are age appropriate!!!!

Really??? Is this the type of thing we are bringing out children into!!! To me 4 months old should have rattles and toys not iPad business!!! Makes me ShockHmmShockHmm .... Maybe I'm a traditionalist

Vikks · 14/02/2014 10:50

Happy Valentines Day Mummies/ mummies to be! I do hope all your DP are on the ball and spoiling you today. Grin

Foo has your friend had her baby yet? Shock at Tuesday!

Flea snap, got that book too.
I'm trying not to worry too much about the big introduction between DS and baby. He seems so excited, I think he talks to my tummy more than he does me! Just going to take if one day at a time. I was thinking about a present from baby for him??

For those of you in a panic about going over, I'm with you. DS born at 42 weeks and I was so fed up, I really really hope that doesn't happen again. But like everyone says, they come when they're ready and some how you just cope and know everything is worth it when you're having those newborn snuggles! Smile

27 weeks today!

dobedobedo · 14/02/2014 11:33

I don't actually mind about going a bit over my due date (don't quote me on that at the time though!). As painful as this pgp/spd is, I will really miss my bump. When I had DS, even though I had a baby I was totally in love with, I mourned the loss of my bump, and feeling special because I was carrying a baby. Crazy eh?

NannyPlumForPM · 14/02/2014 11:45

I'm a bit half and half.... I would LOVE to have the baby here for cuddles... On the other hand I know how bloody difficult I found the first couple of months weeks last time around I can wait to delay that Grin

luckily I'm in the drier part of worcester, ( on top of a hill) otherwise there would be a lot of worry in this weather! How's everyone else?

dobedobedo · 14/02/2014 11:53

I guess I'm just savouring the good parts of the pregnancy because I only want two children and won't be doing this again in my life.

I'm still very much looking forward to the next stage though. Although not the absolute insanity that comes with the sleep deprivation!

We're okay flood wise nanny. In Northants here so it's not too bad. Some localised flooding, but no rivers bursting banks or anything like that. Thank goodness!

NannyPlumForPM · 14/02/2014 11:59

Same here- I am particularly enjoying not holding my tummy in and instead wearing stretchy fitted tops that enhance it!! Mmmm and having an excuse to eat 3 pieces if cheese on toast for lunch washed down by a cherry tango, good luck bean

dobedobedo · 14/02/2014 12:16

I never EVER drank fizzy drinks before I got pregnant. Hated them. Now? At least half a can of diet coke a day. Terrible mum!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumEEEEK · 14/02/2014 12:24

Had my anti-d this morning, nowhere near as bad as I thought Grin little bit sore now but I'll be honest I didn't feel it any more than I felt the flu jab.

Also found out I'm anaemic so I'm on iron tablets and I think it explains some of the headaches, dizziness, mood swings etc - the mood swings in particular have been crazy the past few days, I feel like when I'm not over the moon I'm in floods of tears.

We've applied for the flat! Half price application fees too Grin

Still struggling with the stretching, the worst place is where the muscles split in the scar because it feels like they're pulling apart. Going to see midwife next week and ask if there are any painkillers I can have that are stronger than paracetamol but safe and act similarly to ibuprofen - because it's muscles, paracetamol and low-dose cocodamol doesn't help much.

Hope everyone's having a lovely V day :) I got OH some chocs, he got us a Baby's First Year journal to fill in together! :)

wm3010 · 14/02/2014 13:33

Moomin might be a daft suggestion so feel free to ignore but would a support band or something help? I ask because I have pulled a muscle low down on my rib cage somehow, I think I tried to turn over too quickly whilst half asleep in bed. Anyway, it is pretty sore and dh (a physio) has swathed me in bandages which has actually made a real difference as the bump is no longer pulling on the sore bit so much and moving about, though still a bit painful, is much easier. Not saying it would solve the problem, and yours is obviously much more complicated than mine, but worth a go if you haven't already tried? You can buy support bands, not sure how they compare to the bandages but the same sort of idea. You could also have a go at the bandages, it's just a crepe type one with a bit of tape to keep the end secured. DH is looking at getting a support band but he is v. picky so he may just keep up with the bandages if he can't find one to his standards!

Happy Valentines Day everyone, we don't really do VD here because we met on 16 Feb so celebrate that as our anniversary instead (though still not really likely to go overboard, usually cards and something nice for dinner). Will be 11 years on Sunday, makes me feel old!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumEEEEK · 14/02/2014 13:50

Thanks wm - I'll get some bandages and I'll probably ask the midwife next week if she knows whereabouts I'd be best to put them. The scar and muscle damage is in such an awkward place, but it sounds promising - I'll give it a go :) thanks :)

wm3010 · 14/02/2014 14:18

Hope it helps - easy enough to experiment with, anyway, as you can just try them in a certain position and then shift them if it doesn't work. My bandage is stretchy and about 12cm wide. A physio may be a good bet if your midwife doesn't know much about it, as obviously they are more familar with the layout of the muscles and so on. Mine currently goes round the top of the bump and my waist (or where that should be Wink), which in my case means that it goes over the main sore area, helping the muscle that is sore by taking a bit of the job it would usually do, then down under the bump so it is supporting it underneath, if that makes sense. The bit under the bump means that the weight of it doesn't pull down so much. All in all it just seems that bit more secure.

You can always pm me if that would help and I can pass on questions to my dh!

NannyPlumForPM · 14/02/2014 14:22

How useful to have a physio for a dh!! Almost as useful as a midwife Grin my dh sells steel..... hopes wm will swap

MrsFooCough · 14/02/2014 14:51

Hah vikks still no sign of friend's baby! Can't believe she's been going since Tuesday. This is terrifying! Haha!

Take care there in Worcester Nanny....its ok here in Droitwich but just so much rain. DS was due to be going to a birthday party tomorrow at McDonalds on Hilton Rd...now cancelled :(

Sorry i've not posted for so long...very busy times at work and just feeling pretty rubbish with back pain. Do those sausage pillows really help more than normal pillows?? Debating getting one as back pain in the night is the worst.

Had 28 week appt yesterday. Bump measuring very big and so have to go back in 2 weeks...MW said if growth carries on at this rate (faster than it should be) then my homebirth might be at risk :( I just don't know why my bump is so huge...I'm eating ok and have gained about 1.5st so far. It was the same with DS (big bump) and he came out at home at 8lb 15oz...not small but not monster either.

Going to paint nursery tomorrow and then new carpet arriving next week. Then I can start buying stuff for bubs...really havent bought much yet although have lots of stuff from last time.

8 weeks left at work..gah!!

Clairededare · 14/02/2014 15:08

Ha Nanny, re partners being useful in preg, my DP is a vet and got all technical at my scans asking about the machine - think he was rather envious as it was a lot newer than the ones he has to use. He also had a long chat with my consultant about pre-eclampsia in lambs. Apparently they have a fixed gestation period of 155 days which makes them good to study for the different causes of PE. Hmm

He's already said he 'doesn't do humans' so really not up for delivering our Dd when time comes - probably best to leave it to the experts - unless she has other plans...

Have a lovely valentines everyone xxx

wm3010 · 14/02/2014 15:21

Nanny you are right that it comes in very handy although I do feel bad asking him to help me after a long day at work (he is in private practice so sometimes works a lot of hours)! Also, he sees such awful injuries in his job sometimes that I feel he doesn't give the appropriate amount of sympathy for my minor ailments - but admittedly he has been really good through the pregnancy.

Claire how nice to be compared to a sheep! Hopefully your dp doesn't have to step in, although at least reassuring that he could be of use if needed.
