Morning all, and good luck to those with scans today!

I had mine yesterday but for me it was a double-edged sword. We saw a nice strong heartbeat, but the sonographer put me at just 6+2, whereas I thought I was at least 7+4. Now, I know for a fact that it is physically impossible I conceived when the scan says I have (it would have been 11 days after we had sex and 2 days before I got a BFP!), so I'm now worried that baby isn't developing properly.

However, I've read that early scans can be out by as much as a week so I'm trying not to panic. And my friend said she thought she was either 3 weeks or 7 weeks pg but her scan put her at 5 weeks, so clearly it's not always an exact science! I have my first mw appointment on Monday so will mention it to her as well and see what she says.

Metalhead did you discuss this with the sonographer? If the scans can be out by a week then that should cover any discrepancy? Actually thinking about it it takes up to 10 days after sperm meets egg to bed down and produce hormones so the dates could be right. Its not instant.

I kinda (weirdly) glad that Im not alone in my panic about things going ok and the scan. I think being online is a double edged sword, lots of support but you get to find out some of the bad things that can happen.

Ive got the mw this afternoon and dh is coming with me so that should be interesting.

metal I was certain I was 7 weeks at my scan yesterday but the sonographer put me back to 6 weeks 2 days.
White I was the same yesterday, went into the scan absolutely convinced that I'd lost the baby, and then we saw the heartbeat, I was in a state of shock x Fingers crossed for you, and fairy & bex too xx

white I know implantation takes time, but that doesn't affect how many weeks pregnant you are - you still count from the date of your last period or from ovulation, regardless of how long it takes to implant (as I understand it). And according to the scan dates I should have conceived 2 days before I got my BFP, which is impossible as the hormone levels wouldn't have risen so quickly.

I did mention it to the sonographer but she was just very non-committal. She did say the heartbeat was nice and strong and she couldn't see any warning signs that something was wrong, but at the same time obviously didn't want to say everything's going to be fine.

Thinking back to my first pregnancy, I seem to remember something similar happening then actually, i.e. getting the scan date and thinking this doesn't tie in with my timescales at all... so will try not to stress too much.

Ah, that's good to hear xxmiss! I guess they can be a bit out then. I was just a bit shocked as it was more than a week less than what I'd thought...

Try not to stress metal, honestly it won't do you or baby any good xx

My first scan didn't tie in with my dates at all. All throughout my pregnancy I thought they were wrong and I was right. My EDD was the 17th november according to them, exactly a week later according to me. My son was born totally naturally two days after their EDD.

Once a scan dates a pregnancy usually it overrides the LMP date. See how your 12 week scan dates you but I would say try not to worry xxx

I would not be worried at all about an early scan giving a date that's out of your timescales. You may get to the 12 week scan and it throw up a different date again. What's important is that baby is alive and you saw a heartbeat. You're very lucky!

I didn't think you could take children in with you so my mum is looking after my son. I assume they are a lot older than 14 months though!?

I'm going to be on my own too. On the one hand I prefer it but on the other I think I will be a total mess if the news is bad

That's good to know MissB. If I get to the 12 week scan then at least we can all go together.

I was at the epu so spent the morning waiting but everything is fine and we saw a heartbeat

Freaking out again today - feeling super down that it's all gone wrong, that bean stopped growing or no heartbeat. Not even got a scan date or anything. Top it off, tummy pains subsided with antibiotics, which I guess is good but I don't feel sick or anything like I have been. Maybe I only felt ill cos of the infection. Can't really cope with this!!

Just checking in, sorry iv gone quiet this week this thread moves so fast.

I am currently sat at work with a huge piece of chocolate cake one of the girls just bought some on their lunch break and ofcourse you cant say no can you

So close to just blurting it to one of the girls at work atm. i hate lying and in 4 weeks wen i get to tell them i just feel like theyr gonna be shocked at how well i lied over the last 2 months! pregnancy comes up at least once or twice each week - if anyone says they feel sick its 'pregnant!' which isnt helping. and no one is suspecting me at all which is going to make it a bigger shock. Whos was the pregnancy test?! i cant wait to find out...assuming it was positive.

Hi girls

So scan was fabulous - strong heartbeat and have been dated as 8 weeks 2 days - I thought 8+3 so only a day out. Deffo not twins (my dad is a twin!!) and everything looks fine. Got 12 week scan booked for 26 February. Can't wait!! Thanks for all the support leading up to it ladies. Xxx
