rockin20s · 27/01/2014 13:18

ah thats lovely! we havent told families yet, fell really bad when they ask do we have any news!!

OP posts:
LH1981 · 27/01/2014 14:01

Hmm, a bit confused. Wondering if anyone can shed any light...

I now have 3 appointments coming up.

  1. 30th Jan for blood screening tests
  2. 4th Feb?
  3. 7th Feb for Nuchal Translucency / dating scan

I just rang the hospital because, as my GP had made the referral that prompted appointment no 1 and 3 (a letter I just received), I thought appt#2 might have been a cross-over appointment.
Appointment number 2 was off the back of a self-refferal/walk-in scan at the epu but I don't know what it's for??

The hospital said that the 2nd appointment is different and I still need to go to it, but didn't advise what it was for - could it be booking in?

Any ideas ladies?

rockin20s · 27/01/2014 14:29

probably just a follow up scan after that last one

OP posts:
Metalhead · 27/01/2014 14:29

LH I've got what's called an early bird appt next week to get bloods taken and get a date for proper booking in appt, where the blood results with be discussed and medical history taken - maybe your second one is the full booking in appt?

Carly6971 · 27/01/2014 14:33

Hey my edd is 5/9/14 x

LH1981 · 27/01/2014 14:42

Hmm, now I just missed a call and got a message from the hospital saying my booking in appt is this Saturday. How many appointments do I need??

LH1981 · 27/01/2014 15:05

Okay, got it sorted. The blood tests and the scan are at 12 weeks but I'm too early for that so I've cancelled them. Basically they were going off my gps referral that states my last period as 11th November (I skipped a period and fell pregnant in December).

So the appointment on the 4th is for another dating scan, and I'll be about 7 weeks.

And then my booking appointment is now 9th Feb.

Phew! This is so complicated! xx

Metalhead · 27/01/2014 15:15

Glad you git it sorted! (I did think 7th seemed too early for a nuchal translucency scan based on your EDD.)

broodylicious · 27/01/2014 15:39

Food aversions kicking in for anyone? I've got a spicy beef casserole in the slow cooker and tbh the smell (which I loved a few weeks back) is making me want to heave Blush

Also noticed I'm pooing twice or three times a day too - normally just once!

rockin20s · 27/01/2014 15:43

i dont really have food aversions just dont know what i want, DH is getting annoyed as i just keep saying i dont know,
was walking about tesco at lunch and couldnt make up my mind, eventually went for pannini with ham and cheese, bought enough to make a weeks worth, im getting sick of not knowing what i want!

OP posts:
CumbrianExile · 27/01/2014 16:04

I had to go upstairs yesterday while DH was cooking the beef dinner. Managed to eat some beef and roasties, but no veg, which is unusual for me! Especially as it was the smell of the beef putting me off, and I really enjoyed that!

whiteblossom · 27/01/2014 16:07

Im food adverse to most things. I too just don't know what I want, Its awful.

Last night I had two plain heated tortilla wraps with 4 cheery tomato's. My dh made himself a chilli- no way could I eat that!

My go to food are melon, grapes, strawberries. Coco pops. Also granary bread with just salad cream.

Im feeling quite a bit better today and so Ive branched out, Ive just eaten a pan au chocolat.

Im thinking I might have to tell my parents as I suspect they think Im avoiding them (I am but not for reasons they think) so to avoid a brewing barny I might have to fess up. My mum keeps asking for my help and Im just not up to it so I feel a bitch. This would ruin the surprise I had planned though...

broodylicious · 27/01/2014 16:09

Yukky update - have now been sick. Have a feeling this is the start of the horrid MS Hmm I had it from conception last time round until about 16 weeks, then still queasy over some smells, so I've had it easy this time if it's only starting now (7+3)

rockin20s · 27/01/2014 16:31

oh no broody poor you.

my dad has invited us around for dinner this Saturday night, my aunt and uncle will also be there and they became grandparents on christmas eve so i know there will be loads of baby talk.

I will be driving so that DH can drink, but im sure they will still pour me a glass of wine (sure one is fine for driving .....) how am i going to survive the night!

my sister will be there, the last time i saw her (nearly 8 weeks ago) she said in front of everyone "hurry up and get pregnant" so i dont really want to see her, im sure she will ask me outright when she see's im not drinking. or make a similar comment again. i already spoke to my dad about the comment saying i thought it was bang out of order! i think i may completely flip out if she says it again. I think I managed not to say anything last time as i was in so much shock that she would say something like that.

OP posts:
Fairypants · 27/01/2014 16:56

Rockin- I would push the driving aspect. I don't even have one if driving and lots of people are the same. It's not an exact science as it depends on your metabolism so I'm sure you could imagine a friend if a friend who got done after just one.

I'm totally freaking out here. Ms kicked of proper for me on tues last week so I relaxed a bit but then I woke up sat with no symptoms at all. I thought I'd just cracked not getting hungry or tired but still nothing. Going to dr tonight (she offered to arrange early scan after 6 weeks due to cramps and previous mc) so should get referred but totally convinced its all gone wrong. DH says he will try to make the scan so it looks like I'm going through it all alone againSad

rockin20s · 27/01/2014 17:03

fairypants my symptoms come and go, and i dont even have that many symptoms to begin with, try to relax, stressing isnt good for you or the baby.

OP posts:
whiteblossom · 27/01/2014 17:17

ROCKIN its so hard keeping from family, let us know how you get on!

Fairy symptoms do come and go and vary in between, the scan should reassure you though.

Ive got first MW appt on wed afternoon so that should help make it feel like things are moving along, I would like to know there is a heartbeat, any chance she will check?

broodylicious · 27/01/2014 17:33

Agree that it's so difficult to keep it from family. We have recently been talking of moving house (not until next year so only casually discussed it) and my grandad said to me "is this before or after you have my next great grandchild?" Cue mega paranoia as I was wearing my maternity jeans because my tummy is really sticking out already!! So I made a big dramatic deal out of it when I spoke to mum the following day saying comments like that aren't fair, that he knows I struggled with dd and just to lay off me. She did actually agree with me and so I may have thrown her off the scent.

Last time, I told my sister a few days after we found out. It was so exciting and because she had a newborn, it was lovely to share the secret. This time, though, I've not told her because she's going through a proper crap time (divorce proceedings, selling house cos she has to, all started over her DH's refusal to have another dc) so I don't feel it's the right time. HmmHmmHmm

BexBoo12 · 27/01/2014 17:46

Hi everyone!

It's hard keeping it from family isn't it. We've got a slight situation, we found out that DH's brother and his girlfriend can't have children Sad she's gone through early menopause at the age of 37. I'm devastated for them - they've been trying for about 3/4 years. I really want to speak to them first, before we tell everyone, just do they have some 'down time' to get used to the idea before everyone is talking about it. DH thinks it's a bad idea. Thoughts everyone?

All I want to eat is crisps Blush oh and toast. I can't get enough of strawberries too. But that's pretty much it lol. I wake up about 4:30 and can't get back go sleep because I feel so sick?! But I'm not sick, and when I wake up properly in the morning I find feel sick? Very strange lol.

White blossom, I think the only way to see the heartbeat is through scan - I'm sure I read it's still too quiet to be heard at all. X

Metalhead · 27/01/2014 17:59

white I think midwives don't check for heartbeat with the Doppler until 16 weeks.

topmammy · 27/01/2014 18:05

Aw feel sorry for you girls who can't sleep :(. Hopefully these won't be famous last words but I've never slept better since being pregnant, I just zonk out and don't seem to move all night (apart from the occasional sleep talking!) as I keep waking up with a sore ear lol.

Well I rang the docs about getting a flu jab, but the nurse who does them is on holiday so I've got to ring back NEXT Monday!! The receptionist lady didn't seem totally sure that they had any jabs left either :( I feel like I'm coming down with something already anyway, I just hope it doesn't develop into flu!!

bugoven · 27/01/2014 18:17

bex I'm in a similar position with my brother and SIL who have health complications and know TTC will be a tough journey for them which they may never get to embark on at all.
I decided to call my SIL and chat to her about it over the phone. I know that sounds cowardly but actually kinder to her as she got to say "congratulations" and sound excited but feel however she needed in private before seeing her in person the next day. I also told her early so it wasn't a big announcement with pressure to be excited.
Maybe you could try that approach with your brother and his girlfriend.

broodylicious · 27/01/2014 18:32

So sad bex Hmm I don't doubt relatives will be happy for us but like you say, it's just about doing it right by them x

BexBoo12 · 27/01/2014 18:37

Thanks broody and bug, I just tried to think about if the shoe was on the other foot how would I like to find out, and I think I would just appreciate a bit if time to get my head around if before it became common knowledge but I guess it's a personal choice isn't it. However I tell her, it's still going to hurt Sad xx

broodylicious · 27/01/2014 18:51

Same here. I know my sister and although she's putting a brave face on things and making the whole moving house thing exciting for the sake of her ds, if I told her this early it would kill her. Especially if things go wrong and I have to untell her and then undoubtedly end up pouring out my heart to her about my sadness. Something she just doesn't need right now.
