Didn't see one started, as our last thread looks full. Let's hope we are all kicking the early pregnancy sickness and starting to glow :)

thank you for all the advice!

great news zing and ahoy

icklekid · 17/02/2014 17:59

Great news zing fx all goes well, have you somewhere you want to buy?

ahoy we had our 20 week scan today and all was also well. Found out I have an anterior placenta so no surprise bot felt anything yet and not going to worry if its a few weeks...

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 17/02/2014 18:03

Auntie I'm the same when it comes to spreadsheets! I'm currently trying to work out what we can buy second hand as I am quite sold on the idea of a new pushchair / cot / bouncer / sling. We're using antique furniture for storage rather than buying special baby themed wardrobes though. Isn't it exciting to be far enough along that buying for baby is a possibility?

AuntieMaggie · 17/02/2014 18:17

Home its sooo exciting!

Thank you for all the kit advice - we used swaddle blankets with nephew (we cared for him for a while) but can't remember what age we started. As we're not finding out the gender I'm just going to get a few white things for baby to wear and probably nearer the time once we know what weather is doing!

Yay for house news zing and scan news ahoy and ickle :)

We had our 20 week scan today - all good with baby who was very well behaved so we got some good pictures and was over in no time. Now I am excited and can relax :)

That's great Zing, was it for the same price as your previous buyer? Our mortgage application went in today, on paper we are well within their lending requirements but in practice as my husband is self-employed I just know it's going to be painful. I hate the whole process.

Great news on all the scans today, so reassuring to get past that isn't it.

ZingSweetApple · 17/02/2014 19:16

Great news Ahoy

MrsA

actually we've just made 10k in 2 weeks!Shock Grin
on EA's advice we put house back on the market for 15 k more than previous asking price (which was met in October) and were offered just 5k less than new price!

Plateofcrumbs · 17/02/2014 19:16

Glad to hear everyone's scans today went well.

Ahoy I think I'm like you that I'm still in semi-denial until the 20 week scan. Posting here is about as close as I get to engaging in reality. Or at least I can engage in the reality of being pregnant but I am still in denial about the fact that there will be a baby at the end of it!

When I went to prenatal yoga the other day they getting us to "tune in to our babies" and that kind of hippy nonsense stuff - I totally couldn't get in the zone. They're doing a free hypnobirthing taster session tomorrow which I'm going to try to go to - will see if that forces me to engage a bit, or whether I spend the whole thing with my fingers metaphorically in my ears - la-la-la!

ZingSweetApple · 17/02/2014 19:17

ah, more scans I see - well done all!

coco808 · 17/02/2014 20:48

that is so funny plate your post mirrored my thoughts exactly!!! you make me laugh!

dramajustfollowsme · 17/02/2014 21:26

We have barely had sex in months for various reasons. I can still barely believe we have conceived! I look at my belly, have seen the scans, had the symptoms and still can't quite get my head round it.
You'd think as I've done this before it would sink in but no. I have even less time to think about it. It is only when dd climbs on my knee and the baby tries to kick her off that I think, "oh in a few months there will be 2 children watching me shower and pee, not 1! Grin

icklekid · 18/02/2014 07:59

zing thats awesome news congratulations!

plate I will be exactly the same if pregnant pilates is the same- the instructor seems very unhippy like so fingers crossed not!

ellentullo · 18/02/2014 08:33

Most bizarre pregnancy experience thus far - having had no bump so to speak of, woke up this morning with my uterus bulging out towards my right hip. Wish I could post a photo cos it looks so crazy!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 18/02/2014 08:37

Congrats zing! And good news on scans.

Thanks for the advice on sleeping bags/blankets.

plate - I'm very much the same. Been going to pregnancy yoga and it's definitely good for relaxation/stopping minor aches and pains, but whenever they tell us to 'think of something you want to say to your baby' I nearly almost get the giggles.

Ellen - I also seem to have a magically reappearing/disappearing bump, though it's not poked out in any direction yet...

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 18/02/2014 09:04

holiday and plate this is why I'm doing Pilates at home and going for walks ;) when I enquired about pregnancy yoga, I could practically hear the wind chimes on the other end of the phone. I don't think I could avoid the giggles if told to imagine "breathing my baby out on a cloud of stardust" as one reviewer of our local class said. I am a very immature individual!

Has anyone signed up for NCT yet? I keep meaning to do so and forgetting. My consultant told us to totally disregard anything the "teacher" told us as they're not actually doctors, but that he loved to recommend it to expectant mothers for the social side of things. DH is very unsure about all of this. The first sign of any role-playing where we have to talk about our feelings and the eye-rolling will start so I'm hoping they'll keep the content practical!

Plateofcrumbs · 18/02/2014 09:11

Glad I'm not alone in being rubbish at "connecting with baby". Will see how the hypnobirthing session goes tonight!

Definitely having a few more of these "belly blips" since the weekend so it seems like I am now feeling movement. Which is pretty cool and much better for "connecting" than all this "ommmmm" stuff Wink

ismarah · 18/02/2014 10:35

Just had an echocardiogram that was supposed to be routine and the guy has completely freaked me out. I've had one before and this was completely different and so many more questions, like did heart defects run in the family and how many / what kind of tests I'd had and who was my doctor or cardiologist monitoring me. The scan also looked completely different to last time and there were some things on it that have (with the help of Dr Google, admittedly) freaked me out even more. I'm trying really really hard not to cry my eyes out and also to not get too worked up about something that may or may not be a problem and I certainly don't want to tell DH as he's even worse than I am! Worst bit was that as the technician finished he was all, oh I'll send my report to the doctor that requested it - who I'm not supposed to see until August or September!

My GP is awful, generally. So I'm hoping that if something is actually wrong, the poor obs consultant I'll see on Friday can clarify what is going on.

Sorry for the vent. I had to get it out to someone or I'd burst. Thanks, Internet Wine

Great news on scans and Zing's 10k profit. Our 20w scan is on Monday and after that we might consider starting to buy things - friends of ours had the worst possible 20w scan and I'd just seen her 30 mins before and she was so happy - it's really stuck in my head and I've not dared do anything really.

mummytobejuly2014 · 18/02/2014 13:15

Is anyone finding out gender at their 20wk scans? Or is not policy for most places to say? Really want to find out already

icklekid · 18/02/2014 14:22

home yes we signed up for NCT classes- did it after 12 week scan and closest one was already full so having to go slightly further away but should be fine still. Def mainly for the social side but is an expensive way so hoping the advice is useful too!

ismarah hopefully your scan will go well and reassure you- make sure you do speak to your consultant on Friday though...

mummy we said we didn't want to and scanner said they don't unless you ask for our local- he did tell us to look away at various points. Not sure I would have seen anything without being told anyway!

NancyinCali · 18/02/2014 15:13

I quite like all the hippy chanting and connecting with baby stuff in my yoga class. Probably because it's the only chance I have to really think about her as the rest of the time I'm toddler wrangling/cleaning/cooking/passed out with exhaustion Grin. But then I think California has turned me a bit hippy-like Wink.

ZingSweetApple · 18/02/2014 15:16

ellen

that is what my baby does - stretching.

I'm pretty sure I can feel Braxton Hicks already (when uterus goes rock hard for a minute or two) - I'd forgotten about those and thought my bowels were blocked up!Grin

(first and second timers - Braxton Hicks are there pretty much all the way through pg, but you just don't feel them until 3rd trimester, maybe not even until 8 months!
the more kids you have the earlier you recognise it.)

ZingSweetApple · 18/02/2014 15:22

Nancy

Hey California babe, I now imagine you with flowers in your hair, wearing a pschyadelic coloured tunic, dancing in the sun!Grin

oh and whoever asked - yes, we will try and find out the sex.
it is now offered towards the end of the session - obviously they will check vital organs, spine etc first very carefully.

for us it's next week on Thursday - I can't believe it's just round the corner, 19 weeks today and I'm like what? what? when did that happen?

BlueC2 · 18/02/2014 15:50

Hello all...got back last night from a lovely few days staying with my Mum which was a nice break! I did have a 'first' on Saturday night though as DS had a horrid nightmare/night terror which took us 15minutes to wake him up (he was screaming!) and then a further half an hour to calm him down as he then freaked out as he didn't recognise where he was....sooo...I had all night snuggles with him in bed with me all night - he's almost 21mo and that's the first time he's slept in our bed!

Bump busy wriggling and kicking away quite a lot now which is reassuring, though occurences of heartburn and constipation are on the increase! As zing said...I suddenly can't believe we're all about half way through Shock how did that suddenly happen eh?!

Re. NCT we did it last time and tbh I had already read most of the info but others in the group found it helpful. In terms of contacts it was great having people going through the same early days thing with their first child at the same time...even someone who has given birth a month earlier seems lightyears ahead so it's nice to have people to go through the experience with.

I have been trying to keep up with my thread on my phone but apologies for not responding to everyone!

liquidstate · 18/02/2014 16:39

Am not doing NCT but my SPD physio is a group session and the Royal Berks do classes so will do those and hopefully meet some other mums. Not only to save money but also because where I live I have heard the other couples at NCT classes can be a bit 'yummy mummy' and I am a bit more earthy Grin.

I am lucky that the village I live in has a children's centre with baby mornings and a swimming pool with lots of classes so hope to meet other mums there.

NancyinCali · 18/02/2014 17:02

Zing Grin How did you know that's what I wear every day?
