Didn't see one started, as our last thread looks full. Let's hope we are all kicking the early pregnancy sickness and starting to glow :)

ismarah do take care. Your post made me feel dizzy!

Am signed off so feeling very lazy. Don't think I have walked 10k since last March before my car was rear ended leaving me with severe back pain Blush

Howly · 29/01/2014 10:15

Not posted in a while as been very stressed and busy with school!

Posting now as I've taken the day off sick, getting really down due to the fact in 14+5 and still feeling so sick, only actually sick in the morning but nausea all day long and I'm just exhausted! Feel really bad on letting school and kids down!

Feels like it will never end, I want to be my normal cheery self again!

Ipsumlorem · 29/01/2014 10:16

Haven't quite caught up yet but hope everyone is good/coping at the moment.

16 week appointment today - still signed off til friday and feeling rough which is rubbish Sad - don't really want to extend sickline as I have new staff starting next week and they need briefed. Wondering about taking a days annual on friday and starting back monday though as really not looking forward to dragging myself in like this again Sad

BlueC2 · 29/01/2014 11:08

zing and laday how are your DC today?

So sorry to hear some still suffering with sickness exhaustion etc-not fun! Do rest up though

Just back from 16wk check-MW lovely. Took ages to find heartbeat as little one playing hide and seek but got it in the end. Bloods all ok except my platelets came back low so had to have more bloods taken and if that comes back lower then I have to go to hospital for an app-great Hmm hoping it's not going to affect my plan for a home birth!

icklekid · 29/01/2014 11:54

howly can totally relate as also a teacher looks like I will be off all this week- tried to go in this morning but sent home before kids arrived as in too much pain.

ismarah I hope today goes better with less walking/ less tiring anyway

BlueC2 · 29/01/2014 13:21

Hmm just consulted Dr Google on the platelet thing and at 135 my levels are definitely below the 150 lower level that they are happy with...below 100 and they start to question whether or not you can have an epidural (not that I'm that keen anyway but if there were complications and I had to have a c-section it might mean a general anesthetic which I def wouldn't want!)...sooo...just hoping the bloods she took today show it stabilised (or better) but def not having dropped further. All to do with blood clotting so could realistically affect my chances of a homebirth if levels don't sort themselves out :(

fifi669 · 29/01/2014 13:43

ickle now I'm an old hand at it I can find the heartbeat quite easily. It can take 5-10 minutes and sometimes be quite faint depending on baby's position. I love listening to them swish about though, very relaxing :) and at this stage where I can't feel movement yet, reassuring too.

My bestest buddy had her little girl this morning, both doing fine. I would be in there like a shot but at work and have no babysitter after, boo!

LaDay · 29/01/2014 14:00

Aw blue thanks for thinking of us...it's been a pretty torrid few days with little sleep and a pattern for D's of okay/bad/worse/call doc with a personal best temp of 39.6 recorded by him last night.Eek. Apparently I was really poorly with chickenpox when I was a kid so not surprised he is...but I wish he would recover quick so we can get his cardio assessment done if nothing else.

I am broken, feels like bring with a newborn as he wakes when his calpol/Brufen wear off at three hour intervals on the night... At least he is putting me in practice for the new arrival

Sorry to hear chaps with pain/sickness etc at the mo, tis no fun at all. I am finding eating every two hours is finally keeping things under control...farleys risks seem to be good for their blandness and slight sugar hit (can you tell we're running short now we are chained to the house?! Gawd bless home delivery!) for back pain please do try and get a physio or chiro appt sooner rather than later, experienced this with ds1 and wished I had gone sooner!

X to all

Ps changing bags highly recommend baby mel slouchy on amazon or John Lewis, they come with changing mat and I just put cheapie wash bag in for nappy bits inside ...they are c£40 and machine wash on delicate...genius! Also not too bulky or ladyish in case our DHs fly solo occasionally...

BlueC2 · 29/01/2014 15:21

changing bags I treated myself to a denim blue colour leather OiOi hobo style bag which is v spacious, easy to carry and clips onto pushchair. It's maybe a bit too spacious as I always had so much with me but I love it! One of the best things I did though was get a Pacapod nappy pod to go inside it - they normally come with the Pacapod bags but you can buy them separately (I got mine from eBay) and it's great for nappies, wipes etc and means you can just take that if you're only nipping out. I must say I found choosing a change bag quite stressful until I realised that I have always favoured leather handbags over fabric and then all I had to do was convince DH I could splurge on an expensive change bag :) tbh he was fine providing it wasn't girly so that he could also take it out. Hope that rambling helps!

I've been desperate for work to come in all month and now have some (woohoo!) but struggling to focus as must've got out of the habit of sitting at my desk (at home) all day-either that or I do actually need to buy an office chair as my bottom and lower back do hurt!

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 29/01/2014 15:50

Thanks Blue and LaDay! I'm still tossing up whether or not to get an actual bag. It'd be good to be able to continue to use my normal lovely handbags so I'm starting to lean towards a Pacapod nappy pod too, at least at first!

BlueC2 · 29/01/2014 16:14

homeis now that DS is older I have a smaller change bag that I use but still put the pod into it and it works v well. I will go back to the big OiOi bag once this one arrives but once I have gone through the 'needing the kitchen sink' phase again I will either use my lovely bag for weekend trips etc (it doesn't lok like a change bag) or I will sell it on ebay :) (NB I managed to get mine for £75 rather than the RRP of £200 so I did splurge but not made of money!!) The pods are so versatile though and could well let you carry on with your usual bags...try popping into a John Lewis and see how the pod fits into one of your bags before you buy maybe!

Right...must stop lurking on MN and get some more work done before I have to go and fetch DS!

liquidstate · 29/01/2014 16:41

Aldi are starting their baby event tomorrow. Am thinking I may get the hauk buggy for holidays as takes up less room than a big pram/pushchair.

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 29/01/2014 20:03

Good to hear that you had some good news in your phone call plate.

Changing bags: I had a JuJu BeAll with DS. I got it because I wanted a dedicated bag that would always be ready to go and ok for me or DH to use. I liked having the changing may easily accessible and then nets in the bag to keep things in place. Plus the bag is machine washable which was useful because it got pretty dirty on one holiday.

Your needs in a bag will depend on your own habits, but think about holding a baby, change bag on your shoulder, trying to get change mat out without putting bag on really horrible toilet floor. There are quite a few places where baby change facilities is just a pull down table in the disabled toilet with nowhere to put your bag and you won't necessarily have the pushchair with you (eg motorway services - actually I often just changed DS in the car).

DS is now 2.5 and I chuck the bag in the car if we are going out and use it to store changing stuff downstairs (wipes, nappies). When I fly with DS I now just chuck the change mat, nappies and wipes in a carrier bag that I put in a larger hand baggage bag.

That bag is looking pretty knackered now so I'll probably replace it but I might just go for the mat with pouches option this time.

ellentullo · 29/01/2014 21:16

Went to my first pregnancy yoga this evening - nice mixture of stretching, relaxing and pregnancy chat. Would highly recommend to those who have the freedom and inclination.

Still no baby movement sensations, but if it's going to happen I reckon yoga is just the place.

jaykay987 · 29/01/2014 22:00

I have only slep through the night three times since getting BFP, and every time it has been after yoga! Enjoy your sleep tonight! I am very jealous! I'm not back at class for another fortnight!

ismarah · 29/01/2014 22:21

Another 10k walked in London today - feel like I've been hit by a truck.

Would like to try the local yoga but am a but shy about going, feel like I'd be barging in on an established group which is probably just silly! Have also been busy the last few Thursdays and will be again tomorrow...either in London or asleep after London..

No recognisable movements here yet, at 17+2.

icklekid · 30/01/2014 06:02

ellen sounds fab I would love to go and have had a class recommended by a friend but I don't feel my bump is big enough! I just imagine walking in to a room of hugely pregnant women and feeling like they will all question if I'm actually pregnant (17 weeks) ...what did you find?

ismarah hope you rested tonight and that tomorrow isn't as bad. I can't walk from sofa to kitchen to get a drink without being in pain!

Anyone ever had a bad back and can advise any comfortable sleep positions? Woke up in agony a lot last night!

talulahbelle · 30/01/2014 06:09

So so tired today. howly I have not been sick enough to take time off but I think the quality of my teaching is definitely suffering. Only 2 more weeks till half term.

Anyone else still bump less? I have a slightly thicker waist but in no way look pregnant, just like I've eaten a huge lunch. All my weight gain seems to be going on my thighs!

BlueC2 · 30/01/2014 07:12

Morning. Well have had a horrid night-either wide awake unable to sleep or having horrible dreams about being attacked or having a late miscarriage :( not a pleasant night at all! Why is it that pregnancy hormones can give you such awful dreams?! Ugh!

jaykay987 · 30/01/2014 07:23

no ideablue....but I feel your pain. I desperately need a decent nights sleep.

icklekid · 30/01/2014 08:07

talulahbelle can totally relate to teaching quality deteriorating and we had ofsted in week before last! Was hell :-(

jay and blue am with you on the good nights sleep back stopped me from being comfy in any position.

One advantage of being off is lots of time to look at changing bags etc could spend a fortune if not careful!

Plateofcrumbs · 30/01/2014 08:26

Empathy with the exhausted and sleep deprived. Feeling utterly wiped out at the moment. Today would normally be an extra-strong coffee kind of a morning.

Should have really been on early train to work this morning but ended up on the late one as was just too tired to get out of bed.

Bizarrely woke myself up twice last night having slept in such a position my arm had gone completely dead - once on the left side, once on the right. Can't think I have ever done that before. Is it pregnancy related in some strange way?

ellentullo · 30/01/2014 08:52

Re: yoga: the class I went to isnt an established group as such. It is a rotating 8 session course that you can join at any time. Folks there ranged from 16 weeks (me no bump) to 35 (mega-bump) and all were accommodated. Very welcoming.

Re:bumps - talulah I have nothing there yet at all. Big relief to hear HB at midwife earlier this week otherwise difficult to believe anything is happening in there. My pregnancy books are full of pictures of people with small but definitive bumps for this stage. Its not that I want to massive belly, but by 16/17 I expected something at least.

liquidstate · 30/01/2014 09:26

I have started sleeping with a pregnancy pillow. Its kind of banana shaped and you put part of it between your legs. They recommend sleeping on your left side which is what I usually do anyhow. I slept for 6 hours last night before I had to change position so much better than the last week or so.

Want to do yoga but not sure I can, awaiting doctors appointment to see if I do have SPD Sad

BlueC2 · 30/01/2014 10:36

plate I had the dead arm thing a lot last pregnancy...only had it a couple of times so far this time around. Not sure why it happens though!

liquid I may well get my sleep pillow out soon too...just that DH will moan I am taking up too much of the bed again as soon as I do Blush though after he made the strangest snort/snore noise in his sleep last night which utterly scared me something silly I'm not sure he has any grounds for moaning Grin
