Thanks for all the advice re. weddings. Sarah - 3 days old?! That's brave! The one we're going to isn't too far away but would probably have to stay over. Also thinking about what to wear - not sure if I kept any of my dressy fat clothes so may have to be a tent maternity dress (am guessing I'll still be pretty big!)

Liquidambar · 23/01/2014 16:17

we had our scan today. it was such a nice experience. the sonographer was great and made things so much easier. all is well with this little boy! another one on the football team Smile

MarlenaGru · 23/01/2014 16:25

riblet one tip re breastfeeding and wedding - it is almost impossible to breastfeed in a dress without either exposing yourself or ruining the dress! I was probably a size bigger round my bottom and had a very wobbly tummy for a month or two afterwards. I think the bottom wore off quicker than the wobbles! A nice stretchy wrap dress might be the answer as you can access to feed and it will fit whatever your shape. Maybe dark to hide any persistent bumpy bits!

liquid congratulations on your boy!

Hello all. Just checking in, my due date has changed to 30th May so I am keeping an eye on both threads!

Glad things are progressing smoothly for most of us.

At 20 week scan a fortnight ago was told that placenta was totally covering cervix. Will be scanned at a later date as the chances are that it will move out of the way as my uterus stretches upwards but it's still worrying me as it will mean a planned csection at 38 weeks. I know in my head logically that as long as baby and I are healthy then it doesn't matter which way it comes out, but after 2 v straightforward vaginal births/recoveries (huge thankfulness for these) the thought of the unknown is FREAKING. ME. OUT.

I have had such rough pgs with hyperemesis that I sort of believed that I was "rewarded" for it with my 5 hour labours. I was even looking forward to it- freak that I am. Feel a bit low about it all if I'm honest :(

LadyGoneGaga · 23/01/2014 17:21

Try not to worry yet, Sick. As they said, the most likely outcome is that it will move out of the way. And even if it doesn't (and I reckon it will) friends who have had planned sections found that they were worlds apart from emergency sections in terms of stress/time to recover etc.

Bumblebeesmum · 23/01/2014 18:29

Sicknspan most things they monitor for turn out to remedy themselves but of course you feel low. My sister was very upset at idea of c section with a fairly last minute turned breech baby. She agreed to have some sort of weird procedure where they jig it about from outside but as soon as she was given the relaxant drug the baby just turned round. There is a very good chance your baby will do the same & if not a planned c sec far better than unplanned

And....

I'm having a girl! I bloody knew it - surrounded by girls with 1st I had a boy now you're all machine like willy makers I was guaranteed to have a girl haha ! Already planning how to get rid of all my baby boy stuff as no excuse for it to take over the entire house anymore!! :) :)

Redcliff · 23/01/2014 18:40

Congrats liquid and bumble - how exciting.

Sick - I can so see where your coming from. Pregnancy already messes with your hormones so any news can feel extra bad. My age means a CS is more likely so may be in the same boat as you soon.

Redcliff · 23/01/2014 18:41

On a completely different note I went to big bosses leaving drinks last night , had half a white wine spritzer and felt drunk and sick. Did get a kebab on the way home which helped .

Big boss told me I looked more pregnant than 20 weeks ( which is true) but not sure I appreciate it being pointed out. One of my friends told me I was enormous last time when I was about 30 weeks - I did not like that at all!!!!!!

Bumblebeesmum · 23/01/2014 19:03

Redcliff my friend did the same to me last time about that point today - saw her today & she said 'you look different this time - you were an absolute elephant last time'
Hahahaha thanks for that :) :)

Bumblebeesmum · 23/01/2014 19:04

Redcliff that made no sense - friend did same to me about that point ie 30 weeks then saw her today etc haha

Do you know bumble- your first post did make sense to me - does that mean I am on these boards to much ?

CleverOl10 · 23/01/2014 23:18

Congrats liquid and bumble. One more for each side!

NessieMcFessie · 24/01/2014 07:44

Good morning ladies!

Just popping in to say hello - I am terrible at keeping up with this thread! It is so exciting to see all the news and scans etc.

I had a 20 wk scan yesterday and all well - expecting a little boy to go with our 2 year old DD - very happy but also slightly worried - what on earth do you do with a boy!?

Been a rough few months - in and out of hospital - also (like stacks) got problems with severe abdn. pains - I have been told not to worry but it is hard!

And of course there is the wee revolution going on here at the moment - all very dramatic. Not to mention the bloody weather - tis -20 today!

Upthread someone (I think Gilly) was talking about a 'short cervix"? I am constantly told that mine is very short....and DD was only 4 days early so (touch wood) it hasn't been a problem for me!

Happy Friday everyone!

Bumblebeesmum · 24/01/2014 08:25

Nessie boys are gorgeous so cuddly & not like girls practically wanting to leave home at 2 haha
Also you can just sort of keep your nose away & clean their bottom & willy any which way goodness knows how ill train myself to not do that with a girl haha
My boy does like to climb and run and destroy everything though....even the tv is no substitute for the furniture aka climbing apparatus :)

NessieMcFessie · 24/01/2014 08:31

Thanks Bumble - it is the climbing and destroying I am worried about! My DD likes to quietly 'sort' things - it is wonderful!

Redcliff · 24/01/2014 08:45

Congrats Nessie - I have the same thoughts about girls "what would I do with one" - we think we are having another boy but will find out on Wednesday .

Sunbeam18 · 24/01/2014 09:03

Just sticking my nose in as saw the title of this thread - I was on the June 2013 antenatal thread so am a year ahead of you all. My gorgeous wee boy will be 7 months old tomorrow! I was due on 18 June and he was born on 25 June. I so remember this time lady year when we found out he was a boy! Good luck with the next 20 weeks and beyond - it's all worth it. A year from now your sons and daughters will be sitting up, giggling, babbling, cutting teeth and eating porridge!

AmelieRose · 24/01/2014 09:06

I am coming late but can I join? First DC due on June 19th. 20 week scan next week...

SarahAnderson · 24/01/2014 11:47

Sunbeam, how lovely of you to post! I love how these buses are like time capsules. I peeked at the January bus to see what our future holds... Was a bit scary!

noseymcposey · 24/01/2014 12:15

Nessie boys are fabulous! I was freaked out by having one first time round but at 2.9 his favourite things are cuddles/jigsaw puzzles/colouring/running/football/dance/playing with his friends/'pretend' type games... so not so different to little girls I don't think? :)

Biffle · 24/01/2014 13:15

Just read a really interesting post on another site and wondered what you ladies thought ....

The question was where do you intend / where does your newborn sleep during the day?

Every answer on the thread (so far) said mosed basket / crib / pram / bouncy chair / travel cot in the lounge. Both my DD's slept in the nursery for all their naps - morning, lunch and afternoon - unless we were out and about and it never occurred to me to do otherwise. I (personally) can't see why baby would have a different sleep place for daytime / nightime once they are in some kind of routine as surely it just makes settling them at night even harder if they are used to sleeping downstairs the rest of the time. Am I missing something? Are my views that unusual?

jaykay987 · 24/01/2014 13:26

Biffle - I have friends that do the same as you plan.

However, the current SIDS advice, is that a newborn sleeps in the same rooms as an adult until they are 6months old. It is something to do with hearing another heartbeat to help ensure regularity of their heart beat (or something like that).
Given most people don't plan to sit upstairs in the bedroom every time their baby has a nap - many people now seem to plan to have a Moses basket or something that is downstairs in the living room.

noseymcposey · 24/01/2014 13:30

What sort of age Biffle? Once DS was sleeping in his own room at night (6months) he had all his naps up there, in his cot. Up until then most of them were on me!

Is it because you can let them fall asleep on you and then transfer them to something nearby? or because they are more likely to nod off in a bouncy chair? I like the idea of the baby sleeping in their cot for all naps but not sure it would have happened. I think if DS has fallen asleep downstairs and then I'd carried him up to the bedroom he might have woken up? Not sure to be honest - what you say is very logical and I can't really remember why I didn't do that!

Biffle · 24/01/2014 13:31

SIDS guidelines were the same when DDs were born too but neither would settle in our room so both went straight into the nursery when they came out of hospital and used a monitor. I know babies have sensitive hearing but can't imagine they can her another heartbeat from across the room?
