Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

felix I am with you on fussy baby today...normally Lucy sleeps easily in her baby chair during the day but today she has cried within seconds of being out down...it's half three and I have literally held her all day!! Ok as her brothers are at nursery but I don't have the same luxury tomorrow. Just one of those days. Cake

BuntCadger · 29/01/2014 15:37

Might be colic felix or might be needing to be held. its a huge difference for them after being used to being inside us.

frizz I am the same as you, don't want to bathe him loads cos of his skin, but the French are old school and big on routine. Daily baths are the thing here. Doc just said to wash face with baby shower gel and water to get rid of the spots, and to keep him just in his vest at home as it is warm. She didn't mention an exact temperature, but I seem to remember something about 21 degrees. Could be wildly wrong though. Will now bath nour every other day and wash him a bit better the other days. At home I will leave him in his vest but will make sure he has something on his feet. Can't see myself buying a thermometer to be honest, seems a lot of faff and my parenting style is very lazy.

enormouse toddlers and massive squishy birthing balls are a heady mix, eh? Had to give up at the hospital as DD kept pushing me off mid contraction so she could have a go.Grin

Can't believe my luck, both kids asleep. Going to have a nap before it all goes pear shaped!

Angelesque · 29/01/2014 15:40

*MrsVDB I'm the same, counting it as an achievement when I have my daily bath and get dressed!!

Well, officially one day overdue. Had around 15 "any news?" Texts/tweets/emails in the last 24 hours... Gritted my teeth and replied in good humour... Grin

alteredimages · 29/01/2014 15:42

Felix Brew nour had a day like that yesterday. It was rubbish because it was the one day I had lots to do and DD was pooing herself at two hourly intervals.Sad you have my sympathy. Hope things are calmer now.

Mythreeknights · 29/01/2014 15:42

Felix, I have just turned the Hoover on next door...don't want to count me chickens but her eyes have closed...

Mythreeknights · 29/01/2014 15:50

It's wired but does seem to work...still asleep! All of five minute now...

Next dilemma is do I have time to run upstairs and make my mils bed for her visit tonight, before the health visitor arrives. It's funny being at home all day, you'd think there would be endless empty hours but I feel rather run off my feet today.

Big hugs to those jan babies awaiting eviction...you can do it!! We want to keep you in the jan antenatal group!

Felix90 · 29/01/2014 15:59

Not sure if it's colic, how would I tell? I'm not sure if she's just still constipated Sad Mythree I have a white noise app on my phone which usually works wonders but even that isn't making a difference!

fryingpantoface · 29/01/2014 16:33

It could just be her wanting to be held. Roll with it. Let her lie on your chest for hours, honestly you'll miss it. I remember really stressing with ds1 that he just wanted holding all the time and i had stuff to do, but i wish i could go back and tell myself to roll with it.

Frizz1986 · 29/01/2014 17:08

felix colic is just when you've tried everything and they cry for no reason all the time. If it keeps going speak to the hv or gp as i think they like to know.

altered we have loads of room thermometers as they had free card ones at one of our antenatal groups so we stole loads!!

Hope all these babies start getting evicted soon (although Feb babies are awesome - i am one!)

I think i am so worried about being out and feeding in public because i am no natural breastfeeder and don't want people to frown on how pants i am at it. Also think we have taken a major step back due to all these sucking/slurping noises she makes while feeding. I don't think she is sealing her mouth properly around the boob and so air gets in as she feeds and the milk dribbles all down whatever i wear! Am not doing anything different but am now going back to basics but nothing seems to be working to stop the noises and dribble.
I thought it was supposed to get easier but 5 weeks in and i am just going backwards.

TobyLerone · 29/01/2014 17:19

I'm with frying. I just hold Meredith most of the time because it's for such a short time really. Same reason as I let her sleep in with us. It's partly because it's what she seems to want and partly because it's what I want Blush

Mythreeknights · 29/01/2014 17:27

felix health visitor has just been and said being unsettled for so long is probably a growth spurt...even if feeds only last five or so minutes, the fact that they want to be held and feed for hours on end is a sign they are growing. The lovely Lucy has now been asleep for an hour and a half following the Hoover trick, but I agree with the others, having a day of newborn cuddles has been lovely. But I'm glad she is asleep now. Grin

TarkaTheOtter · 29/01/2014 17:44

Alex has just started to come out of the three week growth spurt and actually had some good sleeps today. Still been feeding/rooting since 5pm but it's easier to cope with the fussiness when it's evening only.

We booked our main holiday today! Visiting relatives and road trip in California! I'm a bit worried because I'll be flying out on my own with a 2yr old and a 4 month old (dh joining us after a few days) but I'm sure it'll be fine, right?!? My aunt is baby obsessed so once I'm there I'll have lots of help.

alteredimages · 29/01/2014 17:54

For anyone wanting a laugh, I sent DH out to buy baby wipes and he got...Apple multi use cleaning wipes, clean and degrease in a single action! Should I ask him if he thinks his son is greasy? Normally i issue very precise instructions, but I really didnt think he could get this one wrong. Am I going to have to implement the "if it doesn't have a picture of a baby on it, don't buy" rule?

TobyLerone · 29/01/2014 17:59

altered, did you specify BABY wipes or did you just say wipes?

MrsVDB · 29/01/2014 18:01

altered that made me laugh! Men!

Felix90 · 29/01/2014 18:03

It's definitely bad constipation again Sad she's just spent ages pushing and going very red whilst I massaged her tummy but nothing came of it. I thought she was finally starting to get used to her formula too!

Tarka that sounds amazing. I'd love to go to the US! We are avoiding going abroad this year as I'm too scared to take a baby on a plane, although I'm rubbish at flying as I don't know what to do in airports etc and would end up missing my flight if I wasn't directed around by DP when we go on holiday. Last year was the first time I'd been on holiday since I was 16 and it felt so wrong going abroad without my Mum and Dad Grin I'm settling for a week in the lakes and possibly a small festival this year instead. You'll be be fine flying as I'm sure you get lots of assistance from staff, especially if you're on your own.

Altered what on earth was he thinking?!?! That's hilarious!

alteredimages · 29/01/2014 18:08

toby in arabic you just say wipes, but i did specify that they were for nour, so I can only guess that either 1. My son is greasy or 2. He would benefit from a fresh apple scent.Confused

TobyLerone · 29/01/2014 18:09

:o

alteredimages · 29/01/2014 18:13

In his defence though, they do say they are multi use.Grin

MrsVDB · 29/01/2014 18:22

tarka also very jealous of US. We usually have a long haul holiday each year but not 100% sure this year, more due to being poor while I'm on maternity leave though. We're thinking maybe Spain or something instead. I'm sure you'll be fine though. Sounds great :)

fryingpantoface · 29/01/2014 18:26

I took ds1 abroad for the first time when he was 3 months old on my own. He slept the whole flight.

then i took him alone abroad when he was 15 month, he was brilliant again!

we're going in April again to the middle east with the two of them, but I'll hopefully have dh with me this time. It'll be fine :) she says with a wry grin

Frizz1986 · 29/01/2014 18:32

Thats hilarious altered

I am sure you'll be fine on the flight tarka. We are going to Cornwall with my parents and sister and her family. Got a nice cottage by the beach.

TarkaTheOtter · 29/01/2014 19:00

Thanks everyone. I hope it works out because it'll be our last abroad holiday for a while I expect as dd is now full price.

BuntCadger · 29/01/2014 19:11

Lol altered Grin love it. that'll be one to tease him about.
