Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

So midwife couldn't do sweep as my cervix is too high still. So after being told I was 3/5 engaged for about a month the midwife was worried today that he may be breech and also not engaged. Said if my waters break I should call an ambulance and basically stand on my head to stop the cord coming out first. Then sent me to hospital for a scan. Scan confirmed head down and engaged phew. Just need to do more bouncing on my ball which only got blown up yesterday. Another attempt at sweep booked for Friday and induction on Sunday

fryingpantoface · 27/01/2014 17:53

After a painful night where i was up every two hours with Henry, even with co-sleeping, i bought the gro-swaddle stuff today. Will report back.

sultana i dunno about the lumps. I just wanted to say it's ok to feel bad. But you honestly cant tell which children were breast/bottle when they grow up. Hugs x

Frizz1986 · 27/01/2014 17:59

sultana no advice this end either but I agree that no one cares if you breastfeed or not. My MIL breastfed my husband for about 2 weeks before stopping and she didn't bother at all with my BIL. Neither one is any different for it.

I have a question for you though? Nipple thrush? How did you know. I wonder if Aurelia has thrush in her mouth as she has white on her tongue and I have just started to get weird occasional sharp pains in my book. Not sure if it's letdown/them filling up/to do with the white tongue. Will be asking HV tomorrow but wanted to ask what you have gone through.

Frizz1986 · 27/01/2014 18:04

Welcome maybe

mrsv that all sounds scary. I freaked at 36 weeks when she could be breech so would have had a meltdown if it had happened this late!

Angelesque · 27/01/2014 18:12

MrsVDB how stressful for you, grr! Glad scan showed all was well. I've also been ball-bouncing today and have appt on Friday with midwife - that's my 40 + 3 appt, so suspect she may offer a sweep too...

FWIW on breastfeeding I understood that anything you manage is better than nothing, so even a week or two is a great achievement even if you then switch to formula. I'm really hoping to breastfeed but have said to DH that if it's making me and baby really miserable then we might have to consider a move to formula... Really grateful for all your stories so far, I'm learning loads

MrsVDB · 27/01/2014 18:22

sultana I don't have any advice but second that you shouldn't feel bad. It's better that your happy

Percypiglet · 27/01/2014 18:41

Hi all, I started having contractions on Thursday evening as you know, they continued all Friday and then on Friday night at 3am I couldn't cope at home anymore so we went into hospital. I was 5cm dilated at that stage. Once in hospital I seemed to chill out a bit, think it was that I knew something was happening and I knew there were other pain relief options. Anyway, after 14 hours of active labour (!) I gave birth to a baby girl on Saturday evening at 6.12pm weighing 8lbs 8oz and we have called her Felicity. Had good birthing pool experience but had to get out of the water to deliver as after 2 hours of pushing her heartbeat was dropping.

Just home from hospital today and have sore boobs from all the feeding!

Havent caught up with the thread so hope everyone is okay.

Percypiglet · 27/01/2014 18:42

Oh yeah, just managed on tens, water and gas and air (no idea how!), think I "forgot" the other pain options whilst trying to focus on getting the baby out. Boy, it hurt when she was born and I was so tired.

Frizz1986 · 27/01/2014 19:12

Awesome percy Massive congrats

Felix90 · 27/01/2014 19:17

Sultana don't feel bad! I've also given up bf after 4 weeks due to pain etc. It was stressing me out to high heavens and I started having panic attacks and some very awful/scary moments when I physically couldn't feed her through the pain and she wouldn't stop screaming (I'm still expressing occasionally just because I spent loads of money on a pump and don't want to waste it!). Sylvie is now on formula and just one feed of breastmilk a day and she's taken to it really well apart from being constipated but we just need to find the right type of formula for her. I felt so guilty at first but now I'm not bothered as I'm so much happier with our routine now and I'm sure that reflects on to her too. I find bottle feeding a lot more predictable which is good for me as I'm a bit of a control freak! As long as our babies are getting fed and are healthy then that's all that matters. You've done well to get this far Smile

Felix90 · 27/01/2014 19:18

Congrats hobby and Percy! Great names Smile

littleraysofsunshine · 27/01/2014 19:27

Congratulations Percy. I'm hoping for a water birth. Smile

Rop is Right occipital posterior. Midwife said it's not entirely this as it just shifts about in there. Was LOA for the last two weeks.
All down to my poor tummy muscles... She said it may go back into an anterior position in labour.

Just having a warm bath, may try intercourse later? Just really not good with my overdue hormones, and how my stretchmarks have turned into mammoth ones day by day now by my football bump

TobyLerone · 27/01/2014 19:27

Congratulations, percy! I love the name Felicity :)

TobyLerone · 27/01/2014 19:32

littleray, Meredith was posterior for most of my labour. She turned the right way when it was time to push. But even when I was fully dilated the midwife couldn't tell which way round she was. She felt her fontanelles and ears and had to go out and check on their training doll before she was sure which way around she was!

And she was the right way round all through my pregnancy, the awkward little so and so!

MrsVDB · 27/01/2014 19:50

Congratulations percy I'd love a water birth so hoping I don't get to induction

I'm not sure of the fancy name for how he's led but his back is along my left side so facing my right hip

fryingpantoface · 27/01/2014 20:25

mrsv Henry was like that up until labour.

congratulations percy!

MrsVDB · 27/01/2014 20:36

frying did he then move to facing backwards (sorry font know what it's called!)

fryingpantoface · 27/01/2014 21:10

He did, when contractions started he moved to the right place

MrsVDB · 27/01/2014 21:13

Ah that's good to know thank you :)

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 27/01/2014 22:24

Crap. Wrote a loooong post yesterday and it vanished.
Too tired to remember much, but hugs to everyone, we are surviving, just. Feeling a bit shit about some stuff, but getting there.

MrsVDB · 27/01/2014 22:37

Just had a vindaloo only managed 2 pieces of chicken and bit of potato so hopefully baby will get the hint. Not sure why anyone would eat that out of choice!

TobyLerone · 27/01/2014 22:44

Humpty Flowers
We're all here if/when you need us.

Sultanajo · 27/01/2014 23:14

Thanks ladies! Spoke to hv who was really supportive! Phew!

frizz I had horrendous shooting pains during and after feeding. No other obvious signs....

felix that's really reassuring to know. I am actually loving giving him bottles (control freak here too) and so far he doesn't seem to miss the nipple which was a big fear of mine. Have already been smiling a lot more! I think DH is relieved.....

Sultanajo · 27/01/2014 23:16

humpty bless ya. Hugs right back at ya and as toby says we are here when you need us.

It would seem I have my period back already. Finished bleeding a week ago from the birth and tonight started again with cramps. Tabbies!

BuntCadger · 27/01/2014 23:48

Didn't want to fall off thread. been blinking knackered and full of cold and thinking chest infection too as hurts to breathe. little one is 6 days old now and he's scrummy. hos cord dropped off tonight but doesn't look right. midwife coming tomorrow anyway as they swabbed it and he also has diveracarium (sp) recti. means his tummy muscles never grew together so they are checking him incase he needs referring.

tandem feeding going ok, dd loving the milk being there finally.

still trying to decide on name. Our first choice is Zachary but not completely decided.
