Thanks for the good luck. It's his 2nd attempt. He failed one just before Christmas, then rescheduled for 8th Jan. Meredith decided to be born that day, so he missed it! So he got a cancellation for today. I hope he passes! It's getting increasingly annoying being the only person who can feed the baby and drive the car!

flyawayblue · 23/01/2014 09:38

Congratulations nature, hope she is back with you soon.

Good luck MrToby

Another rl person who was due after me had their baby yesterday, feel like I'm the last one left!

MrsVDB · 23/01/2014 09:41

Those of you looking at the heartbeat toys kiddicare has the prince lionheart bears (which have heartbeat, record your pen sound, white noise etc) on sale 30% off at the moment. I bought one a while ago full price ggrr but obviously haven't had chance to use it yet but seems very nice

Felix90 · 23/01/2014 09:47

I've been using a white noise app on my phone and it works a treat. She particularly likes the 'oscillating fan' and 'airplane flight' settings Grin

Angelesque · 23/01/2014 09:57

fly I think it's just me, you, MrsVDB and littleray left... My DD isn't even till Tues but am officially BORED now. Come on baby...!!

Angelesque · 23/01/2014 09:59

Following on from MrsVDB - was at the Mamas and Papas outlet at Cheshire Oaks last weekend and they had Ewan the Sheeps at 30% off. Clearly we bought ours at full price from John Lewis Angry

MrsVDB · 23/01/2014 10:04

angel that's pretty depressing! Although I wasn't in any rush as soon as I'm overdue (today) it's a strange feeling and I'm feeling I should rush. Started on the raspberry leaf capsules and evening primrose capsules yesterday (better late than never!)

enormouse · 23/01/2014 10:05

I used to sit ds by the washing machine in a bouncy chair. Blush

And me angel! I've been bouncing away on my birthing ball and scoffing chillies with everything (dp has pointed out that I'm probably immune to them by now, being Indian and all). Am getting sick of everyone asking "so…any news??"

Good luck to Mr Toby. I have to do my test after this baby comes too.

sultana hugs. And hang in there.

Congratulations nature. Her name is beautiful.

After the crappiness of the last few days I'm resting up today. Dp has brought me a cup of tea in bed and is looking after Ds whilst cleaning. I should probably get up soon.

Percypiglet · 23/01/2014 10:12

Me too, I'm here 5 days overdue! Started crying earlier as bored now of waiting, bored of the phone calls and texts " have you had the baby" and just frustrated now.... feel under pressure to flipping well produce!

Am seriously tempted to say each time "yes we had it in secret and decided not to share with you as we don't want anyone else involved"....numpties!

Every day my DH gets up and looks at me "anything happening?" then sighs because he has to go to work again and face the same thing with his work colleagues.............. aarghh.

Got a sweep tomorrow, no one I know has had a sweep or induction so don't know anything about it.....

Angelesque · 23/01/2014 10:18

enormouse percy sorry ladies!! But really excited there are actually a few more of us still waiting. It's made me feel much better!

Convinced myself I was having mild contractions last night... Then realised it was just a wriggly baby causing massive BHs, boo!!

MrsVDB · 23/01/2014 11:01

I thought I wouldn't mind the texts as. Haven't minded tummy size comments etc throughout but as of yesterday they're annoying me already. Friends less so but parents and family is frustrating. If anything was happening we'd have told them.

enormouse · 23/01/2014 11:25

angel I had the same thing. Quite a few bhs and pressure 'down there'.
Every time I gasp or wince because of them dp jumps up in shock and says "is it labour?? Has it started??"

Ds is irritating me at the moment too. It's quite cold here and its making my left leg and pgp more painful [old gimmer emoticon]. And ds keeps bouncing and leaning on my bad leg and just generally clambering all over me.

Maybe we should all move into travelodges (near hospitals of course) and just spend the next few days watching tv, eating takeaways and generally avoiding toddlers, partners and well intentioned nosy relatives?

Well done and congratulations, nature. Hope she's back with you now. I'm too lazy to tot up, but do we have far more girls than boys so far? Certainly seems like it!

Welcome back sultana. So sorry to hear what you've been through, and glad to hear that things are now looking up. I'm very aware that we've had things really easy with Annabel, for which I'm really grateful, but even so it sometimes gets to be too much and I cry all over poor DH.

Also very interested in how it goes with Ewan - we're doing ok for sleeping in the crib right now, but I'd like to know whether he makes a difference.

Welcome to the new people as well - nice to have you on board!

littleraysofsunshine · 23/01/2014 12:38

Spoke to birth-afterthoughts midwife. about Dd2's birth and she said I got there at 11:20pm with urges to push, midwife saw the head at 11:40, born at 11:52pm

To call MLU when it starts and say I came in last time at second stage.

But she thinks as my last two were overdue this one will be Confused

Mythreeknights · 23/01/2014 14:02

Hi all, hello sultana!! Just a quick boob update...I am convinced I am getting mastitis...agony to feed from right breast and I have just noticed a red inflamed patch exactly where it hurts. No fever yet, but seriously I nearly cried feeding just now. Any tips on how to avoid it progressing and going on antibiotics?

TobyLerone · 23/01/2014 14:06

AFAIK mastitis always needs antibiotics. The sooner the better.

MrsVDB · 23/01/2014 14:12

My sheepskin from kiddicare has finally arrived, much bigger than I expected (its the same size as the rugs I have) felix you have one too don't you? How do you use it? Not sure it'll fit in Moses basket

TarkaTheOtter · 23/01/2014 14:12

If the boob is red it is already too late and you need the antibiotics or you'll risk it becoming an abscess. There wouldn't be any redness if it was just a blocked duct. The redness is a sign of infection.
I ate a ton of probiotic yogurt with the antibiotics and didn't notice any ill effects from them for me or ds.

younggrasshopper · 23/01/2014 14:15

Regarding masistis get thee to the doctor ASAP. Phone today and see if they can fit you in.

I had it with dd2 and IME it only gets worse esp once the fever hits.

You can try massaging the blocked duct in a warm shower but you really need to let baby feed from that breast - baby will draw out all the toxins. I remember having a long chat about it with a lovely lady from one of those breastfeeding helplines you can phone - she completely reassured me that it was safe for baby and just to fed through the pain - ouch!! Hope it clears soon for you.

I am due Saturday but have my c section booked tomorrow. Am starting to feel a mixture of panic and exicitment. It'll all be ok won't it? Tell me it will all be ok!!!

younggrasshopper · 23/01/2014 14:21

Percypiglet - I had a sweep when I was 5 days over with dd2 and I went into labour that night so fingers crossed it gets things moving for you Smile, I think they do tend to help.

fryingpantoface · 23/01/2014 14:32

Hi sultana!

my Henry doesn't like sleeping in his basket at night at all. At the moment he wants to be held all day too which isn't ideal, but i remember wishing the time away when ds1 was little, so I'm trying to relax and enjoy this time.

i had pnd with ds1 so I'm anxious that I'm going to get it again. I adore Henry, but i worry all the time that he's going to die/has died. The mw said not to worry and the hv will check up on me in a couple of weeks.

i asked the mw when i would feel normal again, and then i sobbed, because it doesn't feel like my body. Apparently while I'm still lactating it means there are massive amounts of hormones in my body, that expecting to feel normal/ trying to be normal at 2 weeks post-partum is demanding too much of myself. She said that it takes around 6 weeks for your internal organs to recover from being bruised during pregnancy /labour, around 6 months ish to start tightening up properly and 18 months for the relaxing hormones to leave your body. That's one hell of a long time! I have to keep reminding myself that H is only two weeks old

Felix90 · 23/01/2014 14:35

MrsV my sheepskin was bigger than expected too! It fits perfectly I. My Silvercross pram and the Bednest we hired but it's good for her to just lie on in general. Also it looks nice for taking photos too Grin

Felix90 · 23/01/2014 14:36

Grasshopper good luck for tomorrow! You'll be fine, just think of the end result Smile

Felix90 · 23/01/2014 14:38

I've started formula feeding sylvie and expressing alongside it and she's really constipated Confused she's been crying on and off all day and I can see her struggling to push. Last time I gave her some cooled boiled water as recommended by the midwife but it didn't really work. Is there anything else I can do?

fryingpantoface · 23/01/2014 14:41

Orange juice and boiled water. One oz to 6oz water. Only i got it wrong with ds1 and did it the other way around. Cue MASSIVE poonami. It was all over his basket, him, it was immense
