Lol hubby. I am a bit worried about my cat/ baby situation actually! I have two indoor cats and keep having horrible what if visions of me snoozing on the sofa, baby asleep in the moses basket and the cats liking the look of the moses basket to sleep and/or pee in! They enjoy doing both those things in anything that even resembles a basket. Might have to evict them outside when baby arrives Shock! Can't really shut them in another room either as one that's a bit cruel and two, one if my cats has a knack of opening doors lol.

Ooh that was a rather long post about my cats, oops. I'm not a cat lady, honest :) hehe

Hubbythecatandme · 15/01/2014 23:49

hahaha! I am mostly worried cat will lie on baby and smother him or sthg :s I feel mean kicking him out though because he lies to sleep in his radiator bed or on top of the wardrobe on our suitcase!
I am not too sure what is going to happen.
We have bought a huge mamas and papas cot bed on ebay so I am just hoping it will be too "deep" for the cat and that he will not try to jump into it. Other solution would be to buy one of the ultra sensitive Angel monitor whatever they are called. They detect every single breath and move and an alarm beeps if the baby stops breathing after 20 seconds (buy which time hopefully we'll be able to make the cat run away)... argh I don't know, there seems to be so many decisions to make about everything haha!

Jemma2907 · 16/01/2014 07:29

Our cats follow us around the house and sleep on the end if our bed at night. We're planning on shutting the door on them (gonna feel awful) at about the 20 week mark to get them used to not being in there for a few months before baby arrives. Hopefully they'll have found other cosy sleep places by then.

Firstimemum3 · 16/01/2014 07:42

My cat follows me every where but doesn't follow my OH. And she sleeps on my pillow and sometimes gets bit to close to my face, I'm panicking. My brother has offerd to have her but I'd be devastated. :(

DearDinah · 16/01/2014 08:08

We've two dogs who I utterly adore, they are spoiled rotten & the earth revolves around them! I'm beginning to change their routines though as I know things will change dramatically with a baby & I wouldn't want to risk anything happening, loads of people have pets & babies just got to get them prepared beforehand to avoid problems

bugoven · 16/01/2014 08:19

Hello everyone. So glad we've got onto cats Grin

We have three and our baby plan is to introduce a cat flap amd encourage them outside more. Theu like climbing the trees and chasing birds so hopefully as the weather warms up they may even poop outside. Theu are very good toileting wise but have bewn responsible for plenty of bumps in the night so hoping they'll take their nocturnal games outside too.

Congrats on the new job waffles. I got promoted to HLTA yesterday and fewling guilty for nodding at plans for development in September. Ooops!

Today is scan day. Booked it nearly 3 weeks ago and thought I'd never get here but somehow I have. Will let you all know how it went.

cavamonster · 16/01/2014 08:53

This thread does move fast. Rockin, they gave me an early scan to rule out an ectopic because of my Ashermans. Glad they did, but wish I had been slightly further along as before 6 weeks you are not definitely going to see the baby and that has just made my anxiety worse!

Feeling very sicky here today, although rocking a great look with my travel sickness bands and a pack of ginger nuts - just as well I work on my own or it may be fairly obvious Grin

isitme1 · 16/01/2014 09:42

Wow.

ive missed loads.
ive read a page to 2 back.

well done waffles!!
Will see you Tuesday then lol.

how is everyone? ?

X

rockin20s · 16/01/2014 09:59

I feel very hormonal today! woke up at 4.30am and couldn't get back to sleep think i finally drifted off at 7am my alarm woke me at 8am. feel like i didn't sleep at all. i feel close to tears today.

was a little nauseous eating my toast this morning but was also really hungry so just kept going, feel fine now.

I did a IC again this morning (I'm obsessed) and the line looks like it has gotton lighter so of course I'm freaking out. ill do another tomorrow morning and compare, it could have just been that particular tests.

said to DH that i want to book a private early test to reassure me. i have the doctor on Monday so at least ill get my HCG levels from the bloods she takes.

sebsmummy1 · 16/01/2014 10:15

I think at this early stage it's totally normal to worry about the worst happening. I have only had one healthy pregnancy so in my head am thinking, what could go wrong? But having shared a thread with TTC girls I know things can and do go bad and so I'm feeling a bit wobbly myself.

I am pretty symptom free but my 1st pregnancy was the same until I was about 8 weeks, so I'm not that surprised. I had a 9 week scan done privately with my son but I'm not sure I will do that with this one. I'm a SAHM now and I can't help but think about the pennies now Confused

Mummyinpink1289 · 16/01/2014 10:22

Firstimemum3 yes i went straight to the midwife, no point calling the doctor as they just do what they did to you and refer you to the midwife so i cut the middle man and went straight to them. she asked a few details and gave me a date for my scan there and then on the phone. she said my allocated midwife would be in touch soon to book an appointment to see her too.

ThisIsMeNow im trying to eat healthier too - my first 2 pregnancies i just turned into a horse and ate and ate all day long - mainly chocolate and cakes, put on 4 stone each time going from 8 and 1/2 to 12 and 1/2 stone. I am not doing that this time i am going to be strong! so hard though as i associate eating healthy with losing weight but when ur pregnant u just put weight on wether you eat healthy or not so why bother trying!

Welcome sjs152, its only been 4 years since i found out i was pregnant the last time but it just feels so weird that its all happening again so i know what you mean.

Congrats on the new job waffles1990, how does it work starting a new job and being pregnant? did you tell them or will you just tell them after your scan like the rest of us?

Welcome cookielove - wasnt you in the 1s month TTC thread? Sure i recognise the name...

Thats amazing rockin20s, i am so desperate to find out one of my friends are pregnant too but i cant see it happening Sad its so nice to have a 'pregnancy buddy' but ur best friend that will make ur pregnancy go so much better having her there to share it with you.

Congrats on your nephew DearDinah Smile although i must say that in my experience the fast labours arent that great and if i got to pick to repeat one of my previous 2 labours i would go for the 26 hour one over the 8 hour one anyday just because it all happened so fast in the second labour that i didnt have time to adjust to the pain and i was more aware of what was happening where as id had that much gas and air with my first labour that i was pretty much out of it by the time the hard stuff came which was much better! Grin

Mummyinpink1289 · 16/01/2014 10:33

How are people managing to get 'dating' scans? never in my 3 times of being pregnant have i been offered one of these and iv never known when my last period was. im gutted cos i would love to be able to have a scan around 9 weeks, have to wait over 5 weeks for mine Sad

tiredallthetime123 · 16/01/2014 11:19

Morning ladies.... I'm a bit anxious this morning. I'm 7 weeks and I've only had really mild symptoms so far- was desperately tired a couple of weeks ago but that all seems to have cleared up and i've had about 4 or 5 occasions this week where I've felt a bit nauseous and my boobs have been tender but this morning I woke up and the first thought was "i'm not pregnant any more". I've got NO symptoms today- boobs feel normal, not sick, not tired, just normal. Saying that I did smoke a bit now and then before bfp and always LOVED having the odd ciggie but they have turned my stomach since mid December and the thought of having a ciggie now makes me want to heave so maybe.... urgh, I don;t know.... maybe I'm just a nutter! I had my coil out end of October and had one af then BANG it just seems to have happened and so I feel a bit guilty- it seems to have been easy so far and i am worried something will happen or its not real and the six (count em!) positive tests I did were mistaken as it seems too good to be true. I asked my mum if she ever felt any symptoms and she said she never felt sick or tired or anything but then she was 15 years younger than me and also a bit batty so I'm not sure she would notice anyway (soz mum). Just wondering what you all think??? I've got a midwife appointment tomorrow and I am going to ask if it worth going for an early scan- if I got one next week I would be 8 weeks but not really sure what you can even see at that stage- any ideas?? Its £75 in my local private hospital and if it shows something like a heartbeat or even a flickering little blob I think I would feel better but I'm not forking out £75 for a weird squiggly black and white picture that doesn't even tell me anything or reassure me. I wish I could just phone the little bean up and ask "are you definitely in there? are you actually real and are you going to stay the whole 9 months in there???" Do you think I'm mad????? I feel a bit mad today... maybe that is a symptom??? Sorry for the long crazy message... what do you think ladies???

Ellisisland · 16/01/2014 11:29

My advice to those with cats is don't bother with a cat net as they are useless! I used to have a big beach towel that I chucked over the Moses basket so at least if the cat climbed in no hair got in. Also blow up a balloon and put in there. Cats hate the texture plus if it pops they run away!
My cat and my DS are best of friends now. My DS is eating lunch sat on the sofa with the cat snuggled next to him Grin

rockin20s · 16/01/2014 11:38

tired i could have wrote your post word for word! i keep checking for blood, im doing a test every morning, analyzing the depth of colour compared to the day before...

i was very tired around the time i got my BFP but im not as bad now. have had cramps on and off but they too seems to have stopped in the last week.

felt a little sick this morning but was able to eat through it no bother it could have just been hunger.

my friend has really sore boobs and is a week ahead of me. she had a MMC last month and got pregnant straight away after it. so her sore boobs are giving her alot of reassurance. but my lack of symtomes sounds like her pregnancy last month. i am making myself crazy!!!

tiredallthetime123 · 16/01/2014 12:18

I don't know rockin (how do you get people's names in bold btw??) maybe we're just mental. The only answer really is what will be will be isn't it? I guess I have to just calm down and try and be a bit sensible. Eee, it's a funny old thing this pregnancy lark eh? I tell you what I do wish- more than anything- I wish my nana was still here! I wish she was alive so I could go and see her and she could give me a home made scone and a cup of tea and say something comforting beginning with "in my day..." Lol!

Does anyone know what a scan at 8 weeks might show? or not show?

ThisIsMeNow · 16/01/2014 12:33

Tired, my friend had one at 9 weeks and could see arms and legs (or beginnings anyway) and a heartbeat.

I've had to go to tesco this morning as all I could think about was those blue and pink bubblegum flavour fizzy sweets. I nearly cried when I couldn't find them! Luckily they had some. No idea if that's a craving but they were all I could think about!

Is anyone else crying a lot? Also, things are starting to smell more Confused.

Mummyinpink1289 · 16/01/2014 12:41

tired i know what you mean, my nan passed away 18 months ago and i had a bit of an emotional moment thinking that she wont get to meet my new baby Sad she met my first 2 children and loved them to bits, they were her world. sad to think she wont be here for this one. Well she will be watching over them from up there im sure Smile

waffles1990 · 16/01/2014 12:43

Thankyou everybody :) I don't start til the end of March, so I'll be about 16 weeks. So hopefully this blasted nausea will have gone!!! I'll drop the pregnant bombshell on them when I start... fingers crossed they'll still get a good 4 or 5 months work out of me first Blush

I've not managed to go into work all week so it needs to go away! In one way it is reassuring, but mostly it's horrible!! Vom'd straight upon waking today lol.

Sent OH out for some sea bands before, hoping they do the trick!

Hubbythecatandme · 16/01/2014 12:51

Actually bugoven that makes a lot of sense. Cat is always wanting to go out at night but we don't let him. He does go during the day though. Maybe if we let him go out at night and sleep during the day then our solution is found! He has a little house in the garden with a mini balcony in case it rains hahah (bought from zooplus website, he loves the balcony bit but not going in!!)

Hubbythecatandme · 16/01/2014 12:52

No laughing to... the cat's house!!!

hereshoping2014 · 16/01/2014 12:55

Hello all!
I've missed a lot here. Hope all are well!
It's nice to see others have worries about cats. We have a cat and a one bedroom flat (curse of being a Londoner) and we thought we might have to start shutting him in the living room, as he always sleeps on end of our bed and that may have to change!
In other news...just wanted to share that we went for a scan yesterday and confirmed I'm 6wks&3 and there's astrong heartbeat!Yay!

Hubbythecatandme · 16/01/2014 12:59

All my main symptoms have gone which is a bit weird. No more nausea (although I still can't go near coffee), I still have sore boobs but not massively and my low mood is picking up. Hubby is very freaked out by it, I have read lots of articles saying symptoms can stop and it doesn't mean anything is wrong. We'll just await development (hubby sending me articles to reassure himself 3 times a day lol). I still get the occasional mild cramps and mild ovary pain... we'll just wait and see...

Hubbythecatandme · 16/01/2014 13:00

congrats hereshopping!!!
Think our cats are going to hate babas lol

clara85 · 16/01/2014 13:00

I already have 2 dc aged 3 and almost 2 and we have 4 cats. Never had an issue with the at all apart from the poor cats getting chased up and down the house by the boys so I wouldnt worry about it at all :) x
