I think we got 4 boxes of sizes 1-3 and we only have one box of 2s left with a handful of 1s. And that price is really good at Morrisons.

Johnson Extra Sensitive wipes are £4 for 6 packs in Asda. They're our favourite wipes!

We've had no problems with Pampers at all and now use Active Fit, which we like.

It's good to get odds and sods, like a bath, top and tail bowl etc at a good price in the baby events.

HungryHorace · 19/01/2014 15:02

Keep your nappy receipts. Most shops will swap unopened boxes if baby is allergic.

babyspice2501 · 19/01/2014 15:02

With my dd I found stocking up on dummies a fantastic idea! Both my dc needed them and all hell broke loose if we lost them orif the dog knicked one etc. To just be able to go into the drwers and sterolise a new one was so much easier than pulling your hair out and having to go to the shops and buy a new one with screaming baby in arms! Lol

mssleepyhead · 19/01/2014 15:25

i'm thinking of using cloth nappies - anyone got any experience with those?

Secretlypregnant · 19/01/2014 15:28

We've used washable nappies and wipes with DD - I'm really hoping that she'll be at a point where we don't need to buy more!

I'm not going to think too much about what else we might need to buy until later in the year - if everything goes OK. We probably have most things. Might need a buggy board and a new mattress for the crib.

PinaColadas · 19/01/2014 15:36

Thanks for the tips Hungry

Ooh what's a buggy board? ...goes to google...

lucyfluff · 19/01/2014 15:37

I used cloth for DS1 and after the initial expense of buying everything it wasnt tooooo bad...a lot of washing though and I stopped quite soon after :/ looking back I was probably too lazy to carry on with them and disposables were a lot less hassle. I would say price wise its cheaper.....

I will say though ladies, Im a bit of a nappy freak and only went for pampers until I tried Aldi and omg they are brill and at £4.47 for a giant pack I will be sticking with them - no leakage at all!!!!

Secretlypregnant · 19/01/2014 15:38

mssleepyhead there is a lot to get your head around with cloth nappies. You could try getting a personal recommendation from The Nappy Lady, and then buying a small number to start with. Not every baby suits every nappy, you see, same as with disposables.

We got a trial kit from one of the local nappy groups, and had it for about six weeks. It helped me to understand how it all worked, and to know what suited DD.

I ended up buying a combination of two different types of nappy, neither of which had been in the trial kit! But the trial kit really helped me get my head around it.

I got the wipes from Babykind.

If you want any more info I'm happy to help as much as I can!

PinaColadas · 19/01/2014 15:38

Oh I see... Won't be needing one of those unless it will carry me so DH can push me. God I'm such a novice :)

Saw a great tip earlier while googling things about when you put babies first nappy on out Vaseline on their bum skin as it makes changing the first poo easier as it's like tar. I like little tips like that

mssleepyhead · 19/01/2014 15:38

which brand have you used, secretly? would you recommend them? i'm really keen to go down this route!

Secretlypregnant · 19/01/2014 15:39

And I didn't find it difficult at all, once we'd got started. It's just normal now. Smile

Secretlypregnant · 19/01/2014 15:45

I'd definitely recommend the three brands I've used - Totsbots bamboozles with Motherease airflow wraps, Motherease nappies with the same wraps, and Bumgenius Flips. BUT what you get does partly depend on how you're going to be drying them and what sort of house you have. Bamboo ones take a longer time to dry. That's why the Nappy Lady's service is quite good - her questionnaire asks all that.

Secretlypregnant · 19/01/2014 15:47

Ooh, Pina. a buggy board for grown-ups sounds great!

HungryHorace · 19/01/2014 16:37

I told DH I needed a buggy board earlier as I was huffing and puffing up hills in Windermere earlier!

miserywaterfall · 19/01/2014 16:44

Has anyone thought names yet?

Sorry if I missed if this has been talked about before, have been off the forums for a week or so!

miserywaterfall · 19/01/2014 16:47

Also, I will take any and all info on cloth nappies! There's a place near here that does a trial kit of various different kinds, so I will check that out once the wee one is here, but any recommendations from ladies who have been there and done that would be awesome!

BunnyBaby · 19/01/2014 17:00

Hi everyone, can second the reusable nappies via nappy lady questionnaire. Tots Bots and Motherease were great for us, will be using for DC3 definitely.

On the dummy thing, it works for some but not others, but make sure if you're trying to breast feed, you get breastfeeding established before introducing as can cause nipple confusion.

I'm still feeling pants and eating too much, had a lovely weekend though with DH and the boys.

One of my friends is a midwife and said losses can happen at all times, which I found hard to comprehend, though I now take the track of what will be, will be. With the pregnancy I lost, I had an overwhelming feeling of dread from conception, almost like I knew at a spiritual level, things weren't OK.

Thankfully my spotting has almost gone, so am convinced it was/is irritable cervix / dip in hormones around time of AF.

Can't believe I'm into 9th week already, where did that go?

DS1 and DS2 now have an inkling there is someone else on the way.

travispickles · 19/01/2014 17:15

Like I said bunny, having found out about serious anomalies at 20 week scan, my friend's sister now has to wait til Tuesday to have further tests to find out the extent and possible scenarios. I have had a sense of detachment this time as if something is going to go wrong, probably paranoia, but I won't relax until after the 20 wk scan. Really feel run down today, work is doing me in!

jazzyjenbo · 19/01/2014 18:02

Hi ladies, i'm new to this thread, due around 18th august so approx 10 weeks... I've seen afew of you have experienced some spotting and would like to find out alittle more about ur signs symptoms if you would like to share with me.
This is Dc3.. I've had very 'normal' pregnancies before and my kids are 3 and 17 mths.
On friday i went to the loo and when i wiped it was bright red blood... I guess i only lost a small amount (maybe a tea spoon full) and over sat/sun hav had a brown sticky discharge.
I'm hopefully going to the epu tomorrow if my midwife can get an appointment for me... Ive not had any pains, just stretching ligament aches.
I'm obviously thinking the worst but am hopeful as it wasnt a massive heavy loss.
What r ur thoughts x x

BunnyBaby · 19/01/2014 18:28

Hi Jazzy, mine was v light spotting usually after BMs, like you was worried as nothing like that in other 3 pregnancies. All was fine at early scan, strong HB etc. Did you say you were off to EPU? (hard remembering as usually post on phone).

On the cinema thing, we realised with delight this summer that DS2 (at the time aged 2.5) happily sat through Turbo, Despicable Me 2, Frozen and Disney Planes. It was so nice to have some peaceful afternoons instead of charging around after them and being the peacekeeper! Lol

jazzyjenbo · 19/01/2014 18:52

Hi bunny, yes my midwife is phoning the epu in the morning to hopefully get me a scan. Just worried really, apart from the red blood on friday evening i've not had anymore apart from brown spotting when i wipe on sat/sun.
No pain x

mssleepyhead · 19/01/2014 19:11

jazzy that sounds as positive as it can. my sister had a bleed like that at 13 weeks and had to wait 3 days for her scan, but when it was done it revealed a healthy little baby, so fingers crossed you get a similar result.

i had brown spotting myself at 7 weeks and my epu were amazing, so i hope yours are too.

best wishes

Feelingfatty · 19/01/2014 19:22

Jazzy I haven't had bright blood but had brown with dd and with this pg. with dd at 6 weeks and with this one 8 weeks. Both times I had appointment at the epu and have seen lovely and safe bean inside with heartbeat beating away. So it really doesn't necessarily mean the end! Even the bright blood I'm sure in such a small amount it won't worry them to much but they'll scan you to be sure!

Eugh I've been feeling very tired/nauseas last few days after having a little let up mid week!! I think it's the food aversions that are getting me the most, I think for the first time tonight I actually enjoyed my tea (sweet potato wedges and quiche) hoping i don't regret it later!! Smile Hope everyone is well Smile

jazzyjenbo · 19/01/2014 19:23

Thanks sleepy, just cant help but worry but i will let u know how it goes tomorrow.
I've just not experienced bleeding before .. Well that i've realised anyway.
In my first pregnancy when i was 4 weeks and thinking i was pregnant my 'period' started and then 4 weeks later missed a period so was pregnant.
When i went for my 12 week scan i was 16 weeks and they said i had got my dates wrong and that my period had been implantation (wouldnt believe me it was heavy and clotty)
When i had my ds they discovered i had 2 placentas (double lobed) and 2 cords and said the 4 week period had been the loss of a twin.
Its just abit worrying... Although my midwife is positive as this bleed was tiny and no clots or pain Hmm

mssleepyhead · 19/01/2014 19:54

Oh, that must have been a difficult thing to experience, jazzy, no wonder you're concerned. Will be thinking of you tomorrow.
