(Too soon) imagine it!

That's a good tip for us too then...

mssleepyhead · 19/01/2014 08:23

Anyone else who already has kids got any tips for us first timers in our last few months before we become parents...?

PinaColadas · 19/01/2014 08:24

I'm really worried about bras, pre pregnancy I was 36H, been living in stretchy sports type bras for about 6 weeks but dreading buying nursing bras, I know I'm going to be looking at £30/40 a pop and only on line! I dread to think what size they will be when my milk comes in, guess I will have to guess what size I'll become by getting measured at the end of pregnancy and order a few and hope they're right. I might as well go to a camping shop and buy a couple of 3 man tents.
Anyone else have experience of this problem?

babyspice2501 · 19/01/2014 09:14

Im nervous because its with a new partner but only really feel like this when dp is at work and im on my own. Im fine when im with him. Maybe its the hormones because I didnt think anything of it when we decided to try and really didnt care what anyone would think.
Is anyone else feeling more clingy to their partners/husbands?

babyspice2501 · 19/01/2014 09:18

Speaking of cinemas I went yesterday with dc's. We saw frozen and loved it! I forgot you cant really go when you get further along. Far too uncomfortable!

lucyfluff · 19/01/2014 09:31

Enjoy your sleep and 'me time' before its too late Wink

I always make sure we have one date night a month now and get mil over. Its bliss just to eat our dinner in peace!!!!

2beornot · 19/01/2014 10:59

Baby - that's understandable, but I'm sure they'll be supportive.

Piña - I thought I had it bad (normally an E cup- but H cup?!). No advice sorry - I think I need a bra shopping trip too! Trouble is a decent one when you're our size is so expensive!!

Last night I had the most excruciating pain in my belly. It happened as I went to stand up - I had to stay bent over for a minute. I've been having pains for a week or so but they seem like stretching pains (it aches in my pelvis when I wake up for example) but this was different. DH and I are very worried and Friday can't come soon enough.

Scotmum83 · 19/01/2014 11:13

Hey everyone I'm due abot 2nd august. Any of you based in Aberdeenshire? Be nice to meet some other mums to be near by :)

HungryHorace · 19/01/2014 11:29

Piña, you shouldn't get measured for your nursing bras until 10 days post birth as the size should have regulated by then.

You should get measured twice during pregnancy, at least.

My DD cups went up to an E last time, plus I gain 2 inches of back. They were like sodding rock hard footballs when my milk came in!

They hadn't gone back to DD and now they're on the increase. Daily. I also dread milk coming in again!

I'm so tired. I'm awake for 3 hours in the middle of the night almost every bloody night. It's horrendous. :-/

Oh, I've been aching a lot this weekend. Suppose it's just the stretching. Apparently pains are worse each subsequent pregnancy. Counter intuitive much?!

babyspice2501 · 19/01/2014 11:38

Thank you 2beornot :-)

I get stretching pains and everytime I cough I cant do it properly as it hurts and pulls my muscles too much and the other morning dp brung me in a coffee in bed and as I turned over to get it my tummy pulled and was in agony and had to stay in my curled up position till it calmed down!

Has anyone suspected what sex they might have due to cravings? Or just have a 'feeling' I think im having a boy as I just think iam plus I love dairy stuff like yogurts and cream cheese and I loved these when I was pg with ds ;) so deffo think its going to be a boy!

Jenbee1 · 19/01/2014 11:53

Very proud of Dh. He got a grilling about why we don't have kids yet last night but didn't cave and kept our secret.

mssleepyhead · 19/01/2014 12:00

baby for no reason whatsoever i'm imagining it's a girl. no clues, i just feel like it is. everything i look at baby related is girly, so will have to do some readjustment if it's a boy. although it might just be my brain thinking like that because we have about 20 possible girls names and are struggling to think of even one for a boy!

miserywaterfall · 19/01/2014 12:07

I feel like I'm having a boy, obviously just a feeling but my mum and gran have both said they have the same feeling so we shall see how right or wrong we are :D I'll be able to go for the gender scan in 4/5 weeks time! I've bought a lot of blue things so if I do have a girl, she'll be getting mistaken for a boy from some of her clothes. But this doesn't bother me, I really hate the idea that only boys can wear blue! I hate the colour pink though, so I'd rather have a girl in blue and get funny looks from people.

PinaColadas · 19/01/2014 12:08

Thanks for the bra advice guys, I'm going to go get measured next weekend and then I can order a couple.
2bornot Wednesday can't come soon enought for us for the same reason, I keep getting stabbing pains but find it reassuring to hear everyone seems to be in the same boat and I'm sure it's just ligaments making room!

Sex wise I keep thinking its a girl, only really fuelled by the high heart rate of 182 at 9 week reassurance scan and the old wives tales I've heard about high meaning it's a girl.

babyspice2501 · 19/01/2014 12:14

I know what you girls mean with the 'feeling' I had that with both my dc's and was right both times aswel! So I think I could be right this time around. But im not going to find out what sex it is till I it comes into the world I think.

HungryHorace · 19/01/2014 12:25

I was wrong last time, so won't be relying on any feelings to tell me! I'll find out in August, and it'll be one or the other.

Bet it doesn't stop me guessing though!

2beornot · 19/01/2014 13:07

Thank you, baby. Very reassuring

WeeJo08 · 19/01/2014 13:29

Hi everyone! Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend. It is a lovely sunny day here (though chilly) - first nice day we've had in ages! Grin

Sleepy Before I forget, check your local cinema about "baby/kiddie" screenings - I know the Odeon do these - they're screenings (usually morning/early afternoon) where it's totally child & baby friendly (though not necessarily a "baby" film) so the lights aren't completely out & you can feel free to pace around & not worry if your baby/toddler has a bit of a meltdown. If you love the cinema, it's a nice way to still get to see movies. When your baby is really tiny they'll probably sleep through the whole thing anyway!

Re: feelings on boy or girl, we think it's a girl as our family aren't good at mixing it up!! DH's brothers all have one sex or the other, the eldest has all boys, next brother has all girls, next one has all boys & we followed in the "pattern" i.e. we had a DD. so if it was a boy it would really shock us (and everyone!!) Shock

mssleepyhead · 19/01/2014 13:33

They sound great weejo, will make the most of those screenings on maternity leave! Thanks for the tip : )

PinaColadas · 19/01/2014 13:54

Is anyone going to be stock piling nappies or anything? I don't really know how many of everything to get bit people say it's a good idea

Mitchell81 · 19/01/2014 14:13

Scotmum- I'm in Aberdeenshire as well. 35 miles west of Aberdeen.

miserywaterfall · 19/01/2014 14:21

I am going to stockpile some stuff Pina The supermarkets are running baby events right now and some of the stuff they have are at great prices!

HungryHorace · 19/01/2014 14:22

We will stock pile again. We did with DD and found it useful.

Asda and Tesco have baby events on at the moment, so they're all reduced.

Make sure you sign up for everything too, all the baby clubs etc. There are some great freebies to be had. :-)

babyspice2501 · 19/01/2014 14:30

Ill be stocking up on things like wipes where you know you will use them but I dont on nappies because you never know how quick they will grow out of the sizes you end up buying. What else is a good thing to stock up on you know your not going to end up waisting?

PinaColadas · 19/01/2014 14:41

That's what prompted me really, there's some bargains to be had! Apparently from tomorrow Morrisons are selling boxes of pampers for half price (£7.49) which is good I assume! Although one friend said what if your baby is allergic to the brand you buy. I'll definitely be stocking up on lots of wipes
