Sorry too fee. After 5 losses I know how you are feeling right now. Do some lovely things for yourself. . Book a holiday or something if you can and know that your odds of a success are really good as you have can obviously get pregnant. Very best of luck. Xx

Terramirabilis · 15/01/2014 03:02

Just checking in. Haven't read above. Today we went for our first appointment and saw the baby on screen and heard the heartbeat. All looking good and due date is pretty much bang on. It was such a relief to see it wriggling away.

Although it's a shame I won't get a scan till 16-20 weeks (am in US).

Oh well. At least I have seen it once now to confirm it's really there!

FizzyPinkWine · 15/01/2014 05:41

Only just managed to catch up with thread after a few days.
FEE so sorry to hear your sad news, I know others have said it but the miscarriage board is brilliant and so supportive. I found everyone on there so kind and helpful after my miscarriage.
My symptoms seem to be disappearing too... Which is adding to the fear! Scan next Tuesday at exactly 12 weeks, excited but very nervous!

lucyfluff · 15/01/2014 07:22

mssleepy - you had a scan didnt you? sorry cant remember but if all was fine then baby is deffo no ectopic and in the right place.

It may be ligament pain, or pain from something being squashed! Have you tried paracetamol and see how it feels after one hour??

Ruggle · 15/01/2014 07:25

Horrible night of really bad cramps...:(
No bleeding but still very worried. Will phone midwife later for advice but I'm wondering now about asking for a scan. My OH has to work this morning so I'm going to have to commute to the EPU..which is an hour or so away.

Feelingfatty · 15/01/2014 08:02

Oh ruggle sorry to hear that. What are the pains like? I would ring and see what they say, they'll tell you if it sounds 'normal' or if they'd like to see you. Put your mind at rest at least

Ruggle · 15/01/2014 08:21

Felt like pretty bad period pain, coming in waves, all night long. Bit of an update though. I seem to have a really upset tummy, and have also just thrown up, and the cramps have lessened. Hopefully it was the tummy thing causing the pains, but it was exactly like period pain, including a weird smell I get in my head during AF. With my previous mcs the pain came in waved like that (though worse), but were both preceded by bleeding. I'll still phone my midwife just to be safe.

Feelingfatty · 15/01/2014 08:26

Ouch! But sounds positive (sounds mean!) that you now feel poorly as I'm sure it's just that. I've had 'period' type back pain since sat and had scans and all fine just appears to be a joyous pregnancy thing...ouch!

flymo79 · 15/01/2014 09:20

oh ruggle, sorry to hear, understand that you're worried, especially with previous bad experience. I've had a couple of worrying period-type cramp episodes that have been more tum-related, my bowels seem to be doing odd things.... it is a bit of a worry, and doesn't lessen just because it's tum, I then start thinking I've poisoned the bean! But I think no bleeding is definitely a positive sign. fingers crossed for you

How're you feeling now, Ruggle? Did you call the midwife? Hope all is ok.

Crap night's sleep last night as DD woke at 3, but I stayed awake til 6. :-( Feel very tired.

Still got a shadow of yesterday's headache too. Ouchy.

Mssleepyhead, it's probably round ligament pain, as mentioned above. It's evil and very painful. :-/

PinaColadas · 15/01/2014 09:34

ruggle I'm the same with the cramps, was having them this morning and panicking, it was actually shooting stabbing pains and I was thinking this is it, it was just an upset tummy Blush this has happened a few times now, I think our bowels must be doing strange things now they have to make room for a little one...

babyspice2501 · 15/01/2014 10:09

Only just caught up!

Fee so sorry to hear your loss, big hugs to you!

Good news on all the scans so far with healthy bubbas! And scan dates coming in!

I had my booking app on monday, the blood test killed! And really hurt to move my arm that night and the next day! Wasnt impressed! Lol. Also im abit under weight and she might want to refer me to a consultant. But I said im not suprised as ive been ill and ate practically nothing then, so im desperatly trying to put the weight back on before my next mw app!

As for seeing your beans, I havent seen my bean at all and havent even got a scan date yet! :( but im due a date next week some time. Guessing it will be for around 11th feb till I see my bean! Only 7+2 today!

Ruggle · 15/01/2014 11:43

Spoke to a midwife (male) who said that upset stomachs and full bladders can irritate the uterus causing spasms and cramping, so not to worry unless it's prolonged (>24hrs) , severe or accompanied by bleeding. That has somewhat put my mind at rest, though haven't gone to work, as not sure I can stomach the commute. Feeling very sick!

ShoesBagsDresses · 15/01/2014 11:58

Hello all, haven't been on for aaaages as work and life have been so blimin hectic, I haven't had a chance to read the thread so far so apologise if I've missed any major news/ newbies.

Had our 12 week scan on Friday all good and bang on for dates. It's just a case of telling the world now, which is making me nervous as although I've had the scan I still feel like I'm tempting fate by saying it aloud and to pe

ShoesBagsDresses · 15/01/2014 11:59

ScienceGeekGirl · 15/01/2014 12:02

Anyone else think male midwives should be called midhusbands? I brought this up with my DH the other day and he called me crazy but I think it makes sense.

Anyway ruggle, glad the midhusband was able to reassure you

PinaColadas · 15/01/2014 12:18

DM ALERT!

Has anyone read this article today?
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2539573/Summer-babies-skip-school-year-Children-parents-advantage-rule-delaying-starting-lessons-straight-Year-One.html

Most of us are going to be in this position, what are peoples thoughts? I know this is planning wayyyyy ahead but I must say it is in the back of my mind that our LO's will be teeny weeny heading off to school with children almost a year older than them!

HungryHorace · 15/01/2014 12:29

Piña, I saw this mentioned on a school application thread last night.

I wouldn't want DC to miss out on a chosen school or be put straight into year 1, so I'm not sure I will delay it. Obviously it depends on our child though, and we will make the decision nearer the time.

If they look like they'll struggle, I'll hold them back, but would prefer not to.

Science, I think midwife means something specific about the job, which midhusband doesn't.

Ruggle, I'm glad you've had reassurance.

I'm exhausted and feeling queasy today. The good news is my boobs grew more overnight. :-/ They need to stop!

HungryHorace · 15/01/2014 12:30

Oh, and whoever mentioned another stats post, that'd be useful. I can't remember anybody's due date! :-)

PinaColadas · 15/01/2014 12:36

Hungry I guess it a bridge you cross when you come to it, it does definately depend on the child, my nephew is only 2 and i think he is ready for school now he is so clever! I think you will just know won't you. Lots of support from Mum and Dad will be important throughout school though I would think.

I was thinking about stats, HollyJokes used to do it and not seen her for a long time, hope everything is ok, is she on the FB page?

Feelingfatty · 15/01/2014 12:36

To be in honest in regards to school years it's not correct that 'most children will be a year older' the children will all range in age from obviously September down to august babies. As a qualified teacher it is true that September babies tend to have a head start to august babies but this is not always the case, every child is different. To be honest in our training we were only really reminded to take into account children's birthdays in reception in regards to physical education as this is where the differences tend to be most obvious and stops teachers unnecessarily worrying about a child's progress if they're actually very young for the year. I wouldn't worry to much ladies! Most children soon catch up and those that stay behind would probably have been behind regardless!

Feelingfatty · 15/01/2014 12:37

Although in saying that I'm not early years trained so someone who is might say differently but I am trained year 1-6 and doesn't make much difference there Smile

lucyfluff · 15/01/2014 12:42

DONT get me started on the Aug babies are this and this re school grrrrr it makes me so cross!!!!

I have an Aug born son who didnt struggle and infact is socially and academically stronger than his sept-born brother. SO glad you said that fatty and couldnt agree more!!! Im not EY either but know that every child is different no matter when they are born!!!

I had this discussion on another post and some people even avoid conception for an aug baby Confused its so loony!!!!!

lucyfluff · 15/01/2014 12:43

Ps he did look super cute in his uniform at 4 Grin

PinaColadas · 15/01/2014 13:05

Aww yes I can imagine them looking very cute in a uniform. I can't see why its always pointed out as a negative, you would think they are getting a head start, although maybe it is a bit full on for them when they are so tiny. MIL always used to mention summer boys to me saying that they are watched carefully by teachers to make sure they aren't struggling. I wonder if some schools let you ease DC in gradually starting with half days for the first few weeks.
