Ding dong!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Riblet · 14/01/2014 14:23

Aghrrr, just wrote a long post and it's disappeared! Can't remember what I wrote but will try and summarise:

Bumble - your dreams scare me- remind me never to go to the zoo with you Wink. Had no idea animal or ex dreams were so common. Clutter - don't remember sex of kittens but I thought my cat might be the mum of one of them, not sure how...

Wispa - Yay to scan! Always nice to see baby again. If you don't mind I'll PM you re. Facebook group too.

Sleepy - I haven't had anything other than email from NCT; I booked course and became a member just after xmas.

Biffle · 14/01/2014 14:52

Just found out my job is going down to 16 hours a week from beginning of March as the woman I am covering is coming back off maternity leave

ohcluttergotme · 14/01/2014 15:08

So jealous those if you that have a specific second hand maternity shop to go to. Great idea!

Bumble also scared of your dream, and very interesting re birthing animals and dreaming of ex's being common in pregnancy.

SleepyNess · 14/01/2014 15:17

I dream of fighting with my sister or mum or both :( Hate those dreams, always wake up upset and with a headache...

BEEwitched · 14/01/2014 16:56

We've just paid for and collected our pram - I think my boot needs to magically expand, though... Bought the car seat as well so we're mostly set!

carrie105 · 14/01/2014 17:24

BEE you are so organized!

We have absolutely nothing yet apart from a Sophie la giraffe teether that was a present from DMil..

We were planning a John Lewis trip to start looking at Prams next week. Thinking maybe about the Bugaboo Chameleon or Buffalo or perhaps the Orbit Baby.

Cant wait to start picking out clothes, but don't want to start early as I know Ill end up with too many. I have perhaps already overdone the maternity clothes, had 2 massive orders from Jojo Maman Bebe, definitely don't need any more now!

BEEwitched · 14/01/2014 17:28

Oooh, the Orbit is very pretty! If we didn't need a beach suitable pram I would've been very tempted by that.

MarlenaGru · 14/01/2014 17:42

Oh wow BEE that is exciting!
I am hoping that if I nag enough DH might get our car seat back from Bil before June! And I still need a raincover for my old Bee and we have our old crib but that is pretty much all we still have!

ohcluttergotme · 14/01/2014 18:23

Fab news Bee.
We're all sorted practically but with 2 children already in our (small) house we need an extension ASAP!

Bumblebeesmum · 14/01/2014 18:38

We have the besafe izi combi for our toddler so will prob get another once out of maxi cosi but it is suitable from newborn if people are interested. There's a lot of research about how heavy baby toddler heads are in comparison to their body & rear facing as long as poss is ideal - we were aiming for age 2 thinking he wouldn't like it but actually he loves it he's high up & points & shrieks at all the cars as he has full view. Only issue is it take a bit of room which is ok behind a passenger seat not ideal to not be able to adjust drivers seat to preference so not sure really.

Anyway there are lots of websites re rear facing so if interested just google as the seats are sodding expensive but it does from newborn - 4.

BEEwitched · 14/01/2014 18:58

Mothercare had a 0-4 one for £75 in the sale we were thinking of getting as a back-up....

MarlenaGru · 14/01/2014 19:04

bumblebee we had the same one for DD from 1-4.5 years. She loved being rear facing as she was so high up! She is in a booster now. We will use maxi cosi until 1 and then switch as our car is very tiny for it and we'll be swapping it in September next year anyway.

superlambanana · 14/01/2014 19:21

We've bought the maxi cosi cabriofix - had to buy the display one as they seem to have stopped making the red one I wanted so couldn't order it!

Biffle sorry if this is a stupid question but is that good or bad about your work hours?

Biffle · 14/01/2014 19:28

Super we have just bought the red cabriofix Smile was in the kiddicare sale.

Am in two minds about whether this change in hours is a good thing or not. On one hand it will be lovely only working 16 rather than 40 hours a week as I get bigger and more tired. But, I am on my own with 2 DD's already and the drop in salary to nearly a 1/3 of what I am currently on is a massive stress I could do without.

Bumblebeesmum · 14/01/2014 19:46

Biffle I wasn't sure if that was good or bad either - great physically but financial stress isn't ideal :( Hope you save on childcare at least & it works out ok

Lmf679 · 14/01/2014 19:49

mitchell2 lol I wondered if you were there as there was a lot of June people. I think I was opposite then, I had a white tee and black leggings on and was in the middle. I'll try and spot you next week and say hi (watch me walk up to a random person and start asking about mumsnet now).

gin I think there's still one space left if you want to join?

Biffle · 14/01/2014 20:01

Bumble - unfortunately both girls are at school and between shared custody with their dad and a mix of long and short days at work around that I don't have any child care costs Hmm

Can't do anything about the situation now though so will find a way to manage. Could be worse ... DP just avoided an 8 month posting to Afghanistan leaving at the end of the month so something to be grateful for!!

wispaxmas · 14/01/2014 20:36

I wish we could buy absolutely everything now. Finding out the sex has made me want to buy the entire contents of mamas and papas and mothercare and polar no pylet. So in short, BEE, I'm well jealous that you have possession of your pram already!

Mitchell2 · 14/01/2014 21:32

lmf ok I think I know who you are.. I was at the front next to the girl who I thought was close to due but when we did the relaxation she lay on her back so she was less than 30 weeks ?!

MarlenaGru · 14/01/2014 21:58

That is rubbish biffle was it always on the cards? I must say I find it weird that people have started talking about my maternity cover Hmm I am not even half way yet!

Biffle · 14/01/2014 22:24

It was always possible that she would come back but they didn't want to bring her back into the same role as it had changed so much in the last 12 months. If I hadn't have been pg it wouldn't have happened but I am so it did

BEEwitched · 14/01/2014 22:39

Our pram is a discontinued model and we got everything for £450 all in, so we decided to go for it.

I wanted the cabriofix in the new white crystal pattern and they're getting that in next week so it was perfect.

panicmechanic · 14/01/2014 22:39

Hi ladies, such a nice upbeat thread I have been reading but haven't posted since my bleed as I didn't want to be the problem child! Consultant thinks my bleed could be linked to my rubbish placenta prob so I have had 3 scans this week - lovely to see the little one wriggling away. No bleeding for the past 3 days so all is looking good. I am feeling lots of reassuring tapping and movement so although I have been worried I know the little one is active!

Reading all of the posts re prams I have a chameleon which I love. I am going to buy a board and a second hand Phil and Teds as a back u for rainy days. I plan to use a Moses basket until 3-4months (did this with Dd) then straight into the cot bed. I haven't told my dd yet but have told her she will get a big bed soon will she is excited about

Mitchell2 · 14/01/2014 22:47

Great to hear that panic.

Vickyvix · 14/01/2014 22:59

Good news panic I was wondering how you were getting on. All sounds good and it must be reassuring that they are checking up on things regularly. Really hope the placenta issue rights itself soon, but so nice that baby is happy regardless. The movements must be very reassuring too :)
