Good luck for the scans today. Nanny - I have a friend who's little girl has that but is doing well.

Re hypnobirthing, I've got the natal hypnotherapy book and plan to get the CDs. I didn't fancy doing a course because I was scared of just being irritated by someone preaching that labour doesn't hurt and it's all in people's heads. I figure with the books and CDs I can take from them what works for me. I'm also quite a sceptic but just believe in having as many different techniques available to try out when the time comes. I also like the fact that the techniques should also help regardless of the type of birth - I.e. it doesn't all have to be geared towards a 'natural', pain-relief free birth - I find the idea of a c-section pretty scary and I think being able to relax would be really helpful if I had to go down that route.

moominleigh94 · 10/01/2014 10:26

Good luck with the scans today!

Baby woke me up at 4 by kicking me... managed to get back off to sleep but the second I woke up again it was kicking again! Pretty sure it's a boy now if it's this awkward Wink

randdom · 10/01/2014 10:51

Am I last to have this scan too :( I think I was the last to have the 12 week one too! Mine is Wednesday. Am starting to get a bit anxious about it!

Going on to nights again tonight which i am not looking forward too but focussing on the fact that I have a week off afterwards!

mumof2aimingfor4 · 10/01/2014 11:13

Just got home, all good with baby and confirmed it is a boy :) measurements all good, vital organs all good, 3 vessels on umbilical cord etc etc. And as usual he was a complete and utter fidget!
Got given my matb1 form too.
Next appointment at 28 weeks at doctors for whooping cough vaccine so that my little man is protected when he's born. Wouldn't normally get a vaccine whilst pregnant but my friend works on paediatric intensive care unit and told me to get whooping cough vaccine as so many babies are suffering from it at present (they dont get vaccinated until 2 months).

mrsmummytobe · 10/01/2014 11:25

Congrats mumof2! That's brilliant news :) Good luck to everyone else having their scan today.

I went to bed super early last night & got 10 hours sleep so I'm feeling so much better today! Can't believe how tired I get at the moment!

dobedobedo · 10/01/2014 12:04

Good luck to everyone having scans today!

I'm frigging knackered today - I had a good 10 hours sleep last night but dragging myself out of bed was so difficult! Thank goodness it's Friday!

Has anyone noticed an increase in their appetite? Mine has really ramped up and I'm worried about putting on weight as I'm already overweight! Had myself a protein shake for breakfast as they're super filling and keep your blood sugar stable, but I'm ravenous now! I could eat ALL THE THINGS!

SicknSpan · 10/01/2014 13:39

Hello all. Been lurking but not posting. Sat in car park before going in for 20 week scan. Eek!

mumof2aimingfor4 · 10/01/2014 13:49

Good luck s&s hope all goes well. Xx

hobbjobb · 10/01/2014 13:58

Had my 20 wk scan but baby was in awkward position - as always - so they could only see from the waist up!
All is looking fine with head/tummy/arms/heart but I have to have another scan in 2 weeks so they can see the rest.

Glad yours wa fine mumof2 and good luck sicknspan!

Squiffie · 10/01/2014 14:15

I have to have a re-scan too hobb baby was comfy and refused to shift no matter what! Mines a week in Wednesday.

Good luck sicknspan and pleased all is well mumoftwo.

Dobe I'd love to have a proper appetite - still really sick a lot of the time Sad. I've still not gained any weight but then I was well overweight to start with so its not necessarily a bad thing as baby is growing.

MrsFooCough · 10/01/2014 15:49

Our anomaly scan is tomorrow, 9:50 (DH has the cutest thing where he refers to 9:50 as Cowboy Time, ten-to-ten, geddit Grin so we're thinking it must be a sign that Bean is a boy haha) and we're SUPER DUPER excited. DH saying goodnight to Bean every night, he marvels at how close the baby is to the surface of my bump. So cute. I was quite badly overweight before the BFP and so I have a kind of crease thing right above my pubic bone, the midwife says it looks just like a surgical scar, and that's where he can feel baby! Least amount of flab between baby and phase eorld I s'pose Smile

AAAAAGGHHHH THIS IS SO EXCITING

SO lovely to see you so excited FooCough!! it is isn't it! I can't wait for DH to get home next week and start to feel baby kick - he left at 12 weeks when it was just a little bean and is coming home to a wife with a big belly with a baby boy having intra-womb discos most nights!!

glad all was well with scans mumof2 and nannyplumn, hobb and squiffe - hope they behave better for your re-scans! and good luck to everyone else!

mrsmummytobe · 10/01/2014 17:07

Dobe I'm exactly the same & I've developed a really sweet tooth recently. I've been eating soo many cakes & biscuits! Not good!

Aww hobb, glad everything is looking healthy!

Good luck tomorrow mrsfoo & anyone else having scans :)

Irisheyessmiling · 10/01/2014 17:57

Oh my god dobe I cannot stop eating. I know the whole eating for two thing is a myth, shouldn't even need the extra calories until 3rd trimester and yet...my tummy rumbles like a mad thing and nothing in my kitchen is safe!

Choppa · 10/01/2014 18:10

Irish..yes with your enhanced package there's no benefit to you taking the childcare vouchers....all v confusing isn't it? I'm trying to figure out holidays and pension stuff...blurgh.

LTT...i know exactly what you mean..I'd also be sad if DS1 didn't get his brother...ha ha...never satisfied!

I ordered some leaflets today from the La Leche. League regarding breastfeeding. Had a mare last time and ended up very sore and having to express most feeds...did this for + 3 months ug. Really want to feel more prepared this time and get it right! It's the biggest thing concerning me as I really struggled last time (my inability to breast feed well made me quite depressed). This time I'll get prepared and give myself a break if it doesn't happen! Can someone remind me of this in May when I am guilt tripping myself?? Anyone got any tips for good reading on breast feeding? I have also got 'the Food of Love' book...just started but seems helpful with good pictures.

dobedobedo · 10/01/2014 18:24

I've just cried at Alex in modern family taking the blame for burning a hole in the couch. Stupid hormones!

NannyPlumForPM · 10/01/2014 19:57

bushprincess I bet you can't wait for your dh to come home! He's been gone so long, I hope he stays home for a while Grin

I know what you mean foocough I just can't wait- got a real bargain off eBay, loads and loads of baby girl clothes for £30! Next and monsoon and all SO pretty.

What is everyone buying in the way of summer/winter clothes/bedding? I know May weather is unpredictable but I am confused as have only had an October baby to wrap up! bushprincess and a couple others I think are going to be heading towards winter in respective countries- I think that's easier in the way of loads of layers and a massive snow suit Grin

NannyPlumForPM · 10/01/2014 19:58

Oh and just made pancakes for tea !! Bloody dp has gone out with his mates with my bank card snuggled up in his wallet- had to find something that required no money

RuldolfsFlea · 10/01/2014 20:05

I'm off into town tomorrow for a shopping and cinema day. DH is minding the dcs at home and I'm free! Feels like eons since I've done anything for myself. I have a ton of places I want to go but the bloody PGP flared up today and now I bet I will be hobbling around and not able to get anything done. But I'm still excited. I'm a SAHM and never seem to go anywhere on my own.

My little flea is kicking all the time too. Everytime I wake, it seems to be kicking and throughout the day. DD2 was really active too. And she still is at 2 years. She's been jumping and tumbling since 18 months and DD1 only figured out the tumble last week (she's 4!)

mrsmummytobe · 10/01/2014 20:06

Oh no Nanny! At least you thought of pancakes! I've bought a summer sleep suit for baby to sleep in but also a couple of lightweight blankets. Not thought any further than that yet.

Btw does anyone know when we officially enter our third trimester? I thought it was at 28 weeks but I've heard different things.

NannyPlumForPM · 10/01/2014 20:19

I'm pretty sure it's 28- literally 2/3 of 42 which is the average pregnancy. Yes I was quite pleased with my resourcefulness am about to snuggle down with silver linings playbook and eBay!

RuldolfsFlea · 10/01/2014 20:19

Week 25 according to the poster in the hospital. I was thinking that the second trimester was rather short when I read that.

mrsmummytobe · 10/01/2014 20:23

Agh that's what's confusing me! Everywhere says different things!

rebeccax2 · 10/01/2014 20:51

Just had 3 massive kicks! Wow! Isn't it amazing :-)

bushprincess · 10/01/2014 21:48

So exciting with all the beans having their little kick abouts inside!

The pg book i ha've says week 25.... which would mean the first of the maybies hitting tri 3 next week! But that would make it a 12 wk 1st tri, 13wk 2nd and a long old 15wk slog through the 3rd, what's the general consensus from the experienced amongst us??

nanny i can't wait either!!! Grin

No idea re clothes, have been given a bunch of hand-me-downs so assume I'll wing it a bit and layer so i can adjust for temp accordingly.... but hoping on warm days he'll wear as little as possible-lless washing to deal with!,

Night all, have a lovely weekend!
