Glad I'm not the only one who's taking a baby away on hols then. Smile

I've lost a few pounds since getting pregnant and as it stands not gained any back yet but I am overweight anyway.

We just use a bouncy chair downstairs, or the pram, or a sling for downstairs sleeping! X

Spirael · 05/01/2014 17:42

We're supposed to be going away to to a UK cottage with my in-laws 6 weeks after birth, or only 4 weeks if go overdue and DD2 receives an eviction notice! Confused

There is the caveat that if I end up with a CS or for any other reason we don't think we can handle it then we're dropping out. Fortunately the IL are fine with that!

Just worked out a bit awkwardly, as ahead of the summer holidays is the last chance for DD1 to go on holiday during term time for a long, long time.

bushprincess · 05/01/2014 17:54

Glad to hear of others who have travelled with/planning to travel with the littleones early on - we've got family weddings in the UK in August so will be flying over for a month so little-one will have to cope with planes/trains and automobiles early on! Once in the UK will be a flurry of weddings and family visits so adaptability will need to be a watch-word!!

forgot on my baby purchase list was a Beco Gemini carrier - it feels so comfy and as I got it in brown looks manly enough that hopefully DH can't object to wearing it!! Will order some pretty slings to go with summer wedding outfits too... can't wait!!

hope everyones having a relaxing sunday eve

mrsmummytobe · 05/01/2014 19:08

We bought a lovely Moses basket in the mamas & papas sale reduced from £120 to £48! A friend of mine recommended the Sleepyhead instead of a Moses basket. We had already got ours at this point but thought I'd pass it on in case anyone here is still looking. It looks really good & portable.

We haven't got a cot yet or a high chair as I don't think baby will need them right at the beginning so I'm leaving them until a bit later. There still seems to be so much to get though! I love the fact that the pram is now all set up & ready to go though. I feel excited every time I walk past it!

CurlsLDN · 05/01/2014 19:47

Hi everyone, I had my anomaly scan last week (at 22 weeks) and it was all a bit traumatic! Baby is measuring small, so I am booked in for two further scans to keep an eye on him, and I have pre-eclampsia.

Unfortunately the sonographers didn't really explain anything and dodged my questions, but I had a good phonecall with a midwife about what it all means later on.

Does anyone have experience of pre-eclampsia? It's a bit scary!

impatientlywaiting · 05/01/2014 20:18

Hi Curls, it's my first time, so no experience of any use. Sounds like a scary scan. At least it sounds like you are being well monitored by the docs and that you have a good midwife.

rebeccax2 · 05/01/2014 20:31

Oh Curls Scary stuff. I hope you get all the support you need. [hugs]

My scan is first thing tomorrow.

Is anyone else getting the nighttime pins and needles? Carpel tunnel I think it's called? I am! It's been freaking me out until I read its quite normal.

Irisheyessmiling · 05/01/2014 20:31

Curls I know my friends mum had it with two of hers and was able to go full term with lots of monitoring. Sounds scary but at least drs now aware so can keep very careful eye on you? Hopefully you'll get more answers with further scans, thinking of you

mrsmummytobe · 05/01/2014 20:48

Thinking of you curls. Glad to hear the midwife was helpful and you are being well monitored Thanks

moobaloo · 05/01/2014 22:02

Hello all

So sorry to hear your news Alyss xxxxx

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow! When I shall be 21 weeks exactly (they were closed last week for new year!) Excited as I've been feeling small kicks and wiggles for about a week which has been lovely

I had a worry on Thursday as I was aching (period pain style) all day and it was getting worse, I went to a walk in health centre who tested my urine and said it was high in blood and protein - uh oh. They sent me to hospital. Very nerve wracking. However whilst waiting to be seen I felt some movements so that cheered me up a bit, and the pain gradually eased (it's nice sitting on a soft sofa instead of on your feet running about all day!) and they decided I was ok after running a few checks. They don't think it's pre-eclampsia (I was worried as they only thing I know about this is high protein??) but they want to check me again when I am in for my scan to make sure. They said I was probably doing too much and not drinking enough water, which is probably true.

Curls hope everything is fine with your pregnancy, I haven't got experience but plenty of people on MN have and have had perfectly successful pregnancies so I'm sure there will be plenty of support for you - don't be afraid to ask your midwife any questions and demand to be looked after properly!!

xx

Chip86 · 05/01/2014 23:39

Thinking of you curls look after yourself

snoozysleeper · 06/01/2014 01:43

Had my scan last week, all well and it's a boy! Grin

I was convinced it was a girl so still a teeny bit in shock. Note to self - must not listen to old wives tales anymore!!

Just wanted to let you know I'm also thinking about you curls Flowers

bushprincess · 06/01/2014 06:57

curls sorry to hear you've had a scary time, hope your midwife keeps you well informed now and that with the right monitoring all will be fine

Hope all is ok on your scan today moobaloo

rebeccax2 · 06/01/2014 07:14

A boy!! Wow snoozy so exciting :-)

My scan at 8:30 - nervous but excited!!! Xx

AlyssInAManger · 06/01/2014 07:17

I am still in hospital, it's unfortunately not looking good for the other twin either. I'm still losing blood, and it has amniotic fluid in it, which means there's a high chance that the surviving twin will get an infection. All I can do now is wait and hope.
I had pre eclampsia in my previous pregnancy, I had it quite bad but everyone else who had it were basically given blood pressure lowering tablets and sent home. I was caught quite late, and I was already 37 weeks, so they kept me in hospital for 4 nights then induced me.

Hezbean · 06/01/2014 07:45

Alyss - so sorry to hear your news. I have everything crossed for you....please keep us posted.

Rebecca good luck with your scan!

loopylou52 · 06/01/2014 07:48

Thinking of you Alyss and willing baby to hold on Thanks

Sorry to hear about your scary diagnosis curls. I don't know much about it but good that they've caught it and your midwife sounds helpful.

dobedobedo · 06/01/2014 08:46

Alyss I'm keeping everything crossed for you too. I hope everything is okay for the other twin. xxx

Is it too early to be bothered about reduced movement? For the past two weeks the baby has been going nuts kicking in the mornings, but today he's been very quiet. Only one or two light flutters since 5am - now I'm wondering if I imagined them. Confused

rebeccax2 · 06/01/2014 09:33

scan news

Happy and healthy little baby girl. I couldn't be happier! :-)

bushprincess · 06/01/2014 09:34

Alyss im thinking of you. What a horrible and scary time. Everything crossed that your baby will be ok.

wm3010 · 06/01/2014 10:15

Alyss, thinking of you here as well.

moominleigh94 · 06/01/2014 10:33

Thinking of you alyss

Congrats all scan news and gender finder-outers Grin I really do want to know now. I don't have a clue what we're having - I wish I had some kind of inclination either way but I don't! I'm so tempted to try and find out, but at the same time I feel like it's going to be the driving force to get through it all is wanting to know what we're having Grin

I wouldn't worry too much dobe, mini moomin was quiet yesterday and I got a little bit worried. I was woken up at 3 this morning; the wind was howling outside and every time the wind got noisy, I'd have a series of kicks and wriggles Grin I was so tired but couldn't help laughing, baby's scared of the wind already Grin have you tried some things like cold drink, talking to it, shining a torch on it - those are the things that work for me. I think at this stage its sporadic anyway - I'm 24 weeks today and the baby is only just starting to get into a proper pattern of when its awake and when its asleep.
