Mmmm cheeeeese......

Is it LadyGoneGaga I need to pm for addition to the fb group?

hackneybird · 17/12/2013 00:04

Yes super

I've had a fair bit of Stilton. I'm sticking to the NHS guidelines so if they say it's ok then that's good enough for me! Good point about washing fruit and veg though!

Have to say I am really missing brie and pate now. And red wine. :( In a way I'm looking forward to Xmas being over so that I can stop not going to parties.

Stacks · 17/12/2013 08:01

This is my second Christmas in a row I'm missing out on stuff. Though last Christmas I was actually giving birth, so did get to enjoy some of the post Christmas foods. No wine though as I was breastfeeding so often. I don't really miss much of the cheeses and stuff, just pate.

CleverOl10 · 17/12/2013 08:09

tmi warning!

Just threw up fluorescent pink?! Can't think of anything I've eaten that colour. Any thoughts?!

cjbk1 · 17/12/2013 08:10

did u have gaviscon last night?

superlambanana · 17/12/2013 08:17

I had two sips of rather good red wine from DH's glass the other night. It was lovely!!

Trying to prise myself from my bed... Working til 10pm then back in for 9.30 does not agree with me. Baby says no!

MarlenaGru · 17/12/2013 08:27

Wow super that is quite an ask even when not pregnant.
A lovely lady has just offered me her standing seat on the train Grin

donnas1984 · 17/12/2013 08:29

Good morning everyone may I join this very big group?
I'm 15+2 weeks due 8th June elwith my 2nd dc I have a dd who turned 2 in November. Been sick and exhausted throughout 1st trimester but have perked up over the past few weeks.
reading back slightly as on my phone, I also love cheese and pate but will be sticking to breaded mozzarella this Christmas and have a festive platter mid summer Wink

Redcliff · 17/12/2013 08:34

Hi Donna and welcome. Really liking your idea of a mid year platter - am tempted to give that one a go .

MarlenaGru · 17/12/2013 08:42

Welcome donna

Luckily I don't like cheese other than a really nice cheddar and am not a pate fan either. I will miss champagne and decent red wine at Xmas though. I hope I can have a few sips of champagne without wanting to be sick. Oh and eggnog and mulled wine. I guess I could make a dull alcohol free eggnog.

Vickyvix · 17/12/2013 08:46

Welcome donna :)

I'm sporting my baby on board badge this morning (for the first time) and after not getting offered a seat by anybody the most lovely lady standing next to me asked me really loudly if I would like to sit down and about 3 people all jumped up. I went bright red but I am now very comfy in my seat on a jam packed train. What a nice lady.

Riblet · 17/12/2013 09:08

Really pleased to hear of all the bouncy babies behaving (or not!) for their scans Grin.

Also fab about your bump Clever- didn't know what sort of stage it was meant to happen but am hopeful it'll be soon so I won't just look fat! Actually when lying on my back this morning I could feel that there are the beginnings of a bump right at the bottom of my abdomen, which is quite firm and definitely distinct from the flab. Also been having more of the stretching type pain down there which I'm sure is round ligament pain (been reading about it and describes it perfectly) but DH has made me promise to mention it to the MW tomorrow, the big worrier. If anyone else is having them, I'd suggest not blowing your nose whilst lying down- ow!

Ooh, all this talk of xmas food... I'm not a fan of blue cheeses and can take or leave alcohol but brie and pate are going to be hard to resist. Do like the sound of breaded mozzarella instead though, may take some with me (having xmas day at my brother's) and then tell everyone they're just for me, lol!

Speaking of food and drink, Clutter and Summerbaby - if you want chocolate milk that isn't the thickened milkshake type (I love milkshake but some of them are pretty sickly and gooey) then Aldi do a good one in the chilled cabinet, just chocolate milk, unthickened. I've been having it instead of milk sometimes to calm the heartburn a bit.

Hi Donna Smile, welcome to the thread.

coldofhands · 17/12/2013 09:09

morning all, my scan's not until Friday as our PCT are running 2 weeks behind eyeroll I'm trying not to be anxious, but just want it done now.

Does anyone else feel full all the time? it doesn't seem to matter if I've just eaten or not.

Other than that I think my sickness is improving which is great news as I've lost 10lb. Still exhausted though.

Hope everyone has a good day, do we have any Tuesday scans?

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 17/12/2013 09:32

It's just taunting to say I mix NHS with German guidelines and have had delicious home-made pate at the weekend, right? Have two more ramekins frozen for Christmas. Xmas Grin

MIL has promised me a glass of champagne for Christmas breakfast and for New Year's I've bought two bottles of Buck's Fizz - not classy but works for me, and going by the guidelines on the bottle 2 units are 500ml so I can have two glasses and not worry.

Need to sort out the living room a bit more today, I have several boxes full of books but no bookshelf to put them on, so I'll turn them into a coffee table by putting a table cloth over them....

Hope everyone is starting to feel better - I think I'm the furthest one along so I'm already looking forward to my 20 week scan in three weeks!

ohcluttergotme · 17/12/2013 09:51

Welcome Donna, I'm having the thought of a summer platter too, sounds lovely and decedent!
Thanks Riblet, will check our Aldi for the milk, I normally buy Nesquik as don't like thick milk. The strawberry works ok but the chocolate can be a bit powdery.
I'm not huge fan of Stilton and happy with Chedder. Really missing pate though and craving it. Funny how different guidelines say no. My MW said pate a definite no Hmm

ohcluttergotme · 17/12/2013 09:52

Loving the thought not having! But loving having Shock

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 17/12/2013 09:55

clutter I wouldn't eat commercial pate or restaurant pate as you don't know how it's been made and food poisoning is the biggest worry - but apparently if you only have it once in a while, there's no need to worry about the Vitamin A content in liver once you're out of the first trimester.

So I'm going with that - I always use chicken livers, anyway, and they're lower in Vitamin A than pork liver.

Biffle · 17/12/2013 10:02

BEEwitched do share about these German guidelines ... we always have homemade chicken liver pate for xmas day starter and I am really gutted that I can't have it as it really is the dogs dangly bits Grin

Bumblebeesmum · 17/12/2013 10:03

I had pate at a wedding - delicious :) sorry everyone who's being good but my Mum's a Doc & showed me the statistical risk & it's minimal & even less outside 1st trimester once the baby's been through it's development frenzy. Obviously the more often you eat it the higher the risk but this was a 1 off. Also I second whoever said you're much more at risk from not washing veg & fruit properly.
Ok you can all shoot me now (it's ok the pate was worth it heeheehee)

Bumblebeesmum · 17/12/2013 10:07

BEE I was thinking glass of champagne New Years but actually your Buck's Fizz idea sounds the way forward. Last time I was pregnant over Christmas I bought bottles from M&S various different flavours inc BF & they were v low alcohol content

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 17/12/2013 10:09

Yeah, German guidelines now say liver once a week outside the first trimester is ok, and let's face it, WHO eats liver once a week? (brings back a school skiing trip we went on where after hours of bus journey we arrived at the hostel and were served liver and onions Xmas Confused.

My husband always points out there is only one known case where eating liver caused damage to the baby and that woman was eating a looot of liver, so I think once or twice won't be that damaging.

My mom couldn't stand pate for ages because that's she got for dinner at the hospital when being induced with me - they thought the induction had failed and then when it all started it happened really quickly and all the pate came back up. Ahem. I take no responsibility for that. Xmas Blush

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 17/12/2013 10:11

Should've said 'not damaging at all' instead 'not that damaging' - if I thought it was damaging at all I wouldn't be doing it.

Sorry, I'm scatterbrained.

Biffle · 17/12/2013 10:15

Think you might have just made my Christmas Grin Also plan on some Bucks Fizz on Xmas Day and after talking to you lovely ladies maybe a little stilton on my crackers

Riblet · 17/12/2013 10:34

I'll be having a spoonful or two of pate on xmas day - it was the vitamin A rather than the listeria I was concerned about but a little bit won't do any harm, especially given guidelines in other countries (have never heard it said before that it's ok in 2nd tri, so thanks Bee Smile)

NessieMcFessie · 17/12/2013 10:42

Welcome donna!

All this chat about food makes me hungry! I am arriving back in the UK at the weekend (have I mentioned that!?) and I am already planning what I am going to eat first! M&S Food at Heathrow arrivals is my first stop!
