S is back to waking every 3-4 hours after tricking us with a 7 hour night Wink

I'm gutted - S loves bath time and we had to give her a bath earlier after she did a massive poo that went up her back and down her legs, nice. Anyway I was holding her in her tummy tub when she suddenly sneezed and face planted into the water. It was literally a second and she came up choking and had real terror in her eyes and screamed once she got her breath back. Damn I really don't want her to fear water! Sad I guess it's best to give her lots of baths this week so she gets straight back in the water.

MotherOfCleo · 26/01/2014 18:18

dont worry alex, we've had similar things with H and he is still happy as larry in the bath. My oh always soaks his face while washing his tiny amount of hair/cradle cap and he doesnt even blink now he is so used to it.

cav, last night was a shocker. Put him down at midnight when my OH got back from his night out, H had been asleep dwnstairs for about 2 hours by then. He woke up at 2.30, 4, 5, 6, 6.50 then I gave up and handed him over to my OH as I was getting really frustrated. It was the first night trying him on hungry baby milk for his last bottle too so 'technically' that should have kept him fuller for longer and stopped the little retch darling waking up so frickin much. I just dont understand how he can survive on such little sleep!! Sad During the day he has about an hour nap around 10/10.30ish, sometimes about 30 mins at middayish, about 45 mins at 3 and 1 (or 2 if I'm very very lucky) hours at 5ish and then the evening can be a rule unto itself. So thats 9 hours with on average around 3 hours sleep, the rest of the time he is WIDE awake and wanting entertaining. Its knackering Blush

HazleNutt · 26/01/2014 18:49

V has been under water quite a few times in the bath and not always because we meant to do it, he still loves them.

mother I have a non-napping baby as well, who can easily do the whole day with just one shortish nap. Even our childminder (who has 3) says she has never seen a baby who sleeps so little. Sounds like you have got yourself a similar one.

Worried about the night, as for some reason he refused to eat solids today, just a few spoonfuls. BF fine, so no idea what's bothering him, but he will probably want to make up for it during the night, oh the fun.

Alexandra6 · 26/01/2014 19:25

mother eek, I keep telling myself S will sleep through the night at some point but sounds like it won't be for ages, if ever ?! Can't believe their sleep gets worse instead of better with time! Isn't 3/4 months the growth spurt and sleep regression time (makes me shudder with fear!), could be down to that? Although actually I guess it's better than the hours of colicky screaming in the night. Is H feeding each time he wakes?

Purplemonster · 26/01/2014 19:29

Another nap refuser here. I've had a few fairly bad nights in a row so I'm really hoping I get a bit more sleep tonight but L doesn't seem to need sleep Hmm

HazleNutt · 26/01/2014 20:05

Bought V some new clothes on sales, in 18 month size, so he can grow into them and all. They fit perfectly. He's not even 7 months old. What kind of giant am I growing here?

MotherOfCleo · 26/01/2014 20:05

alex, all my friends babies seem to be sleeping through so I might just be really crap unusual.

Yep he wanted feeding but didnt actually take much each time, I tried just picking him up and resettling him but he was having none of it.

Damn these kids needing no damn sleep! I'd take one or even 2 wake ups a night quite willingly, but I just wish I could start the night with a 3 or 4 hour stretch, at least then I'd feel human the next day. I can do pretty well surviving on 4 hours.

MotherOfCleo · 26/01/2014 20:08

hazel thats hilarious Grin maybe he'll play in the nfl? Wink

alex, yes I am luck in that H is a really happy content baby and I'm sure if I let him sleep in with me he'd sleep longer, I'm not keen though as last time he punched me in the face.....twice! Hopefully S will grow out of the colickyness not even a word....ooops soon.

MotherOfCleo · 26/01/2014 20:58

meant nba....doh

janey1234 · 26/01/2014 21:41

Oh cavort - so happy for bunny SmileSmile

Cavort · 26/01/2014 22:37

Janey think I am genuinely happier about her BFP than I was about my own!

OP posts:
Quodlibet · 26/01/2014 23:17

A BFP for Bunny? That's fantastic news.
W's been a bit strung out all day, not sleeping enough and getting over stimulated and then crying and wanting to feed on and off aaaaallll day. My nice peaceful fall-asleep-anywhere-baby has gone, I think :( BUT at least she sleeps well at night currently (touch wood). I'm not finding it easy though - I have my PhD viva this week and I"ve been trying to study for it. DP is on baby duty but it feels like he brings her back to me about once an hour because she's grizzly and hungry. And if I don't get the timing right it can take me as long to express a bottle for her as I save when he gives her it. Think it might be a stressful week.

MotherOfCleo · 26/01/2014 23:40

Yay for bunny, amazing news! Well deserved and far too long coming. Hope she has a happy and trouble free 9 months!

quod that sounds really really hard! eeek. My job at the moment is decorating the kitchen an that is bad enough. I have so far rubbed down half of the cupboard doors and undercoated them, just another 13 to go Confused then all the wallpaper and tiles have to come off, then I can actually start to paint walls and cupboard doors and my OH can retile. Why I thought this was a good project while on mat leave I have no idea! Does need doing though. Might get my folks to watch H later in the week so I can get the rest of the cupboards done this week. Wallpaper stripping can be next weeks job Hmm

Nowhere near the stress of a phd though! Blush

MotherOfCleo · 27/01/2014 04:02

So after yesterdays ridiculous down at 12 up at 2.30, 4, 5, 6, 6.50 'sleeping', today H went down at 11 and has just woken at 4am. There is no rhyme nor reason to my son. I did move bath time later and bedtime earlier so maybe that helped? No idea, I like a nice 5 hour stretch though! Grin

Alexandra6 · 27/01/2014 04:12

Decorating the kitchen?! Studying for a phd?! Hats off to you two, I'm proud of myself if I manage to unload the dishwasher and make a nice meal these days! Wink Then again I seem to still have Velcro baby who will only nap for good periods during the day when she's on someone! Know what you mean about the regular feeding quod, seems to happen more some days too. She fed loads yesterday but what is good is she's starting to play more - was in her jungle gym for around half an hour amusing herself! She was also good when we went out for a meal, snoozed with the help of a dummy and then sat on DH's knee looking around the restaurant. On the downside, I tried eating dairy again and she was really fussy last night, crying and puked quite a bit, so not sure if's related - going to keep eating some dairy this week and see how it goes.

Thank god there's some decent tv on during the nights...I'm grateful for the small things these days! Grin Watching 8 out of 10 cats to lighten up after a programme on PND with Jennifer Ellison (not the most cheerful thing for the middle of the night feeding session!)

Alexandra6 · 27/01/2014 04:15

Cross post but morning mother! What time do you do bath and bed? Bet you feel better after that stretch of sleep. Wish I knew what led to S's 7 hour run last week - likewise, no rhyme or reason!

Cavort · 27/01/2014 04:49

Morning ladies!

The dog, E and me are up having our middle-of-the-night party which I suspect will go on for another hour or so. E is lying in front of the fire babbling away to herself. If you wave at her now she waves back, which is sooooo cute even at this hour. Smile

Alex where is this good TV you're finding to watch? I can usually only find shite on in the night. Thank goodness for our smart TV with Netflix, IPlayer, etc.

OP posts:
Quodlibet · 27/01/2014 05:28

I watched 3 series of RuPaul's Drag Race on Netflix pretty much back-to-back in the early all-night BF days and became mildly obsessed

Alexandra6 · 27/01/2014 07:00

I should mention DH thinks my taste in tv is questionable! We have sky but the smart tv and on demand is all the way downstairs so I end up watching things on live sky like 8 out of 10 cats, secret agent (with Phil from relocation) and Australia's ladette to lady! Like I said, questionable taste. Or movie channels of course.

S went back down at 4.45 but has grunted and squealed every few mins since so we barely slept and had the weirdest real feeling dreams when I did drift off. Really feel for DH going to work on such little proper sleep, he went to the spare room but came back because he missed us aww. Didn't think it would go down well if I asked if I could escape to the spare room instead Grin

MotherOfCleo · 27/01/2014 07:31

Well H is still asleep, my body however decided I dont need that much sleep and so i've struggled to sleep since 5.30. Shock alex, tonight I bathed him at 10, yesterday at 8.

We only have tv downstairs and I'm too lazy to move so no tv for us Blush

cav hope she didnt last another hour!

HazleNutt · 27/01/2014 08:55

French TV is crap, and they don't do Netflix or anything here. If they did, I bet everything would be dubbed with no option to change the language - you can't for example get Nat geo or Discovery channels in original here. Because why would you want to, nobody has ever asked, as we were told by the only provider who has those channels Confused

Usual night here and I'm sleepy. Painter is coming on Wednesday to do V's room. But if there is no improvement whatsoever and I still need to get up several times per night, then he's promptly moved back to our room. At least now I can feed him back to sleep without even waking up properly.

Actually, the babies that have been moved into nurseries - sleeping any better?

Alexandra6 · 27/01/2014 09:25

S is fussing around on my boob, looking distraught in between drinking, doing choking sounds and puking down my back - damn maybe it was going back to dairy yesterday, gutted!

Cavort · 27/01/2014 09:53

Mother yes she did another hour and was up 4-6. You can pretty much set your watch by her. Sad

Hazle I don't think there has been any change in E's nightime sleeping since we evicted her but she is napping better/longer in her own room.
