The end is near Pistachio :)

Thanks for the replies to the discharge query i shall pass on the message.

Baby Indiana has settled in so well to her new home and I could not be happier with her progress. Breastfeeding is no where as hard as people were telling me saw but not difficult. She fed on demand every 2 hours at first but shes now feeding for longer so only wants it every 3 1/2 4 hours thank god for her dummy. Without that dummy she would be attached to my boob!

Mogz · 06/12/2013 20:10

It's so lovely to hear that you and Indiana are doing so well Chelsea.

GodRestYeMerryWhisperMen · 06/12/2013 20:11

Just nearly punched the midwife. Contractions 5 mins apart and really painful so finally gave in and asked for some pain relief. She comes skipping over with two paracetamol. Fucking paracetamol. What is even the point in that?!

Chelsealady · 06/12/2013 20:17

Whisper same thing happened to me...the first time i was in labour before they stoped it. I had tears in my eyes and was screaming she pated me on the back and said would you like pain releif i said yes now please and she came in with paracetamol. I shouted muuuummmm tell her!

MW was so confussed...They dont even get rid of period pains for me.

Nice to hear things are progressing but not good about the pain bit. Fingers crossed to long!

BohemianRaspberry · 06/12/2013 20:23

wow chelsea glad breastfeeding is coming so easily - I hope I'm the same.

Seen the MW today and baby is so far down that she can barely feel his shoulders and all the aches and pains are increasing BP all over the place from anxiety. She reckoned I wouldn't see her next week and was enthusiastic about sweeping me if nothign happens by 12th

So once again in the waiting game, waiting for my cervix to do something ... glad of cheeky wine for me.

SupermansGirl · 06/12/2013 20:42

whisper that made me laugh, good luck!

chelsea they stopped your labour? What Im so confussed iv never heard of this? Why? Im so new to all of this quit glad i joint this site i learn something new everytime.

Bohemian im so jelous of you! Jelous of everyone still nothing here. Baby was 3/5 engaged at 36 MW appointment Mon but still getting nothing.

Is it wierd for me to say i wish i was getting BH. Iv never had one...atleast dont think i have.

Roselau · 06/12/2013 20:46

well, doctor told me to walk to try and get that baby engaged. so i went for 2.5 hour walk. i don't think it did anything - bump looks as high as ever. is it bad that i get really excited every time something hurts a tiny bit? like i really WANT the pain and it depresses me that I feel really good at the moment. i have mental issues.

13loki · 06/12/2013 20:48

lady congratulations. Hope you are feeling better.

whisper with DD1 I asked DH to get me paracetamol before calling the hospital. I am still waiting. Gas and air is awesome.

Roselau · 06/12/2013 20:48

they give you paracetemol for pain relief? that is the most ridiculous thing ever. paracetemol doesn't even help with a headache.

here they look at you with big eyes if you want to hold off on the epidural. the hospital i am going to has a 97% epidural rate (!!!)

Mogz · 06/12/2013 21:05

Superman you can be given steroids and other things to stop labour if it starts prematurely.

mumoftwoboysS · 06/12/2013 22:14

Wow rose 97% epidural rate! But then they don't have gas and air over there do they?

Someone mentioned clary sage- is it supposed to bring on labour? And do you drink it or what? I'm going to start trying anything after Sunday when I hit 38 wks. So fed up and still haven't lost mucus plug. Every time I go to the loo I look hopefully at the loo roll after a wee...

mumoftwoboysS · 06/12/2013 22:15

And whisper paracetamol?? That's pathetic. Haven't they offered you gas and air? That's the first thing I got when I went in to have ds1 and was sucking on it from 4cm dilated till the end (5 hours)

Roselau · 06/12/2013 23:05

mum doesn't seem like it - no one's mentioned it. the woman in the prenatal class just briefly talked about it like it was an antiquated practice. it's all so different. same as you, i look everytime i go to the loo in hope. i'm 38 weeks tomorrow. nothing.
i'm told to stay active so i just cleaned the whole bathroom and my back is not happy with me. I was going to do the second one but I don't think I can. I may just have to find a cleaning lady for the next few weeks. DH works too much there is no way he'd have time for it.
Hope you're all getting some zzzzz. trying to get into the Christmas spirit listening to xmas songs now.

SupermansGirl · 06/12/2013 23:05

Mogs Thanks really confussed as to what chelsea ment by stopping labour, googled it!

SupermansGirl · 06/12/2013 23:08

Just layed down can feel the heartburn creeping its way up already. I may prey tonight....to go into labour.

Mogz · 06/12/2013 23:30

No problem, pregnancy is a big ol' learning curve! You have my sympathy with the heartburn, I've chomped my way through countless packs of Rennie and still it persists.

violetbean · 07/12/2013 03:37

Argh!

Reasons why late pregnancy sucks:

  1. Waking up with heartburn
  2. Waking up to go to the loo all the time
  3. Not being able to get back to sleep for hours
  4. Doing upwards of 4 poos a day
  5. Getting stuck / almost getting stuck in the bath
  6. Taking 5 times longer to walk anywhere than usual
  7. Feeling like you're walking with a bowling ball between your legs
  8. Random pain that gets your hopes up and then disappears
  9. Feeling constantly uncomfortable in your own body
10. Feeling like you have to turn over in bed to get comfy but knowing it will hurt like hell.

Reasons why late pregnancy is actually quite good:

  1. Being able to eat random stuff and blame the baby / hormones (cake, ice cream, etc...)
  2. Getting a seat on the bus / train almost every time
  3. Having an excuse not to attend social functions if you don't feel like it
  4. Sympathy from friends who've been there before and are extra-supportive
  5. Having a sense that this is the 'easy' bit before the baby arrives and turns over your world
  6. Having an excuse to sit around and watch tv / read a book any time of the day or night
  7. Being treated particularly nicely by waiters/waitresses in restaurants (e.g. not batting an eyelid if you order a completely weird combination of food/drink)
  8. Feeling confident enough to ask guests to your home to make their own tea or do little jobs around the house, and them willingly doing so
  9. Having an excuse to cry at soppy things (including lame tv adverts)
10. Having the end point in sight and knowing that within x weeks the pregnancy will definitely be over.

I feel a bit better now that's all off my chest. Now just need to get back to sleep...? Hmm

BohemianRaspberry · 07/12/2013 03:41

La la la insomnia.... cramping and another pluggy bit now gone.

My hospital seems to be totally pro gas and air

super I can't tell BH as the baby kicks through them constantly! I assume that the tightening of him pressing his back out coupled with crampy feelings is one.

In terms of engaging the baby, I've been doing pregnancy yoga and I know many have found the positions helpful.

Gah, sick of numb hips! Literally cannot wait to lie on my back again.

SupermansGirl · 07/12/2013 04:25

Joining the insomnia crew.... Violet number 10 is my arch enemie.

LadyMedea · 07/12/2013 04:33

Hi all. Gabriel and I are home - only one night in hospital in the end (I sweet talked my way out). So pleased to be back home - the cats are totally freaked though.

mum not sure why I hemmoraghed... Had managed 3rd stage with syntocinon injection but still PPHed. Very scary as I lost over 1.3 litres of blood (amazingly my iron is still only borderline anaemic- hence why I was discharged). They stopped it with uterine massage and lots of syntocinon and ergometrine I think. They were getting me ready for theatre and transfusions at one point. Can't fault the post delivery care everyone was really good. I just remember telling my DH how much I loved him in case that was it... Sorry to scare anyone... As I said if it does all go wrong the emergency care was excellent!

Mogz · 07/12/2013 04:50

So glad you're home and doing well Lady, it must have been a pretty scary experience for you, and your DH too. Hope the kitties settle down soon.
Pregnancy insomnia sucks, I've had about 3 hours sleep but now the heartburn and general aches and pains are keeping me awake. Anyone else getting a lot of nausea with heartburn? I keep throwing up a little, it's gross.

SupermansGirl · 07/12/2013 04:55

Mogs your not the only one...Im also now suffering with diarrhea sorry to put that thought in your head. Have just woken up to take gaviscon which I have sworn by for months but it just dont seem to cut it anymore.

Lady welcome home thats nice and quick considering your experience! Glad everything is okay, jelous that you get newborn cuddles!!

PistachioTruffle · 07/12/2013 05:53

Ohhhh. Bh's progressed to period pain type cramps. Have got up and taken some paracetamol. I'm a wuss!

Welcome home lady and Gabriel x

froubylou · 07/12/2013 07:43

Well that's no good. Logging in to see new borns all over the place and no one else has popped one out.

I am resigned to the insomnia now. The longest stretch I get is 3 hours. At least when the baby gets here I will be on a newborn schedule lol.

I recommend Ranitdine for those suffering with indigestion. It's safe to take during pgy. I have some prescribed by hospital for before my elcs. You can buy it most places like supermarkets etc and it's actually cheaper than gaviscon.

This time next week I will be (hopefully) at least 2 stone lighter! And enjoying newborn snuggles and waiting to be told I can go home. Very excited!

MummaDevon · 07/12/2013 08:28

Morning all, I hope some of you got some sleep!
39+1 here and I'm soooooo fed up. Still not lost my plug, check every time I go to the loo too!! Had nearly a week now of BH feeling slightly painful and more cranky, getting my hopes up, then nothing!
Can't believe I could actually be pregnant for another 3-ish weeks if I go over!! Fed up :-(
