I'm stopping work at 38 weeks but as I'm a teacher I will have 2 weeks Easter Hols then I'm only back at work for a few more days before starting mat leave. I'm thinking of taking 9 months & then going back part time but I really have no idea how I'll feel after the baby is born.

mrsmummytobe · 05/12/2013 10:57

I had my 16 week midwife appt today. All looks healthy & we heard the baby's heartbeat which sounded like galloping horses! Now can't wait for gender scan at the weekend ??

dobedobedo · 05/12/2013 10:58

Oh dear. Just had a call from my doctors office. "Nothing to worry about, we're just worried about your kidney function from your test results last week. Can you pop in today please."

Nothing to worry about?! Ha! They must just be in the habit of saying this to pregnant women. Xmas Hmm

ThePollyAndTheIvy · 05/12/2013 11:14

MrsMummy where are you based? Got my 16week appt soon, I'd like to know which areas listen to the heartbeat!

Anyone else that's had a 16 week appt- where are you and did they listen to the heartbeat?

hobbjobb · 05/12/2013 11:22

I'm starting my mat leave at 38 weeks but I have 5 weeks holiday to use before that so my last day at work should be 1st April, my due date is 25th May, I hope baby isn't too late!
I already cannot wait to stop work

mumof2aimingfor4 · 05/12/2013 11:48

polly my Sonographer gave us a listen to the heartbeat during 12 week scan. Im in West London. Think it all depends on individual staff!! My hospital also uses doppler at 16 week appt (based on my last two pregnancies) ive got 16 week appt for this baby next week.

So sorry to hear your sad news littlebairn sending lots of love. X x

wm3010 · 05/12/2013 12:39

Random question for you ladies - the past few days I have been getting little "twinges" low down on the bump. They are sometimes almost sore but very quick, sometimes just get one and other times get a few in a row. I am wondering whether it is ligament pain or whether it could be first baby movements? Anyone know? I'm 18+0 today so it could be movement and I guess I'm hoping it is but don't want to kid myself either!

McBaby · 05/12/2013 12:54

One thing to consider or discuss with work is you have your baby before your mat leave starts your mat leave will automatically start but if your on holiday I have known some people to lose any remaining holiday.

So sorry little about what is happening I can't even imagine what your going through.

ISawNannyPlumKissingSantaClaus · 05/12/2013 12:56

Im in Worcester and they listened for a heartbeat at mine. Took her about a week to find it so I'm glad she did my blood pressure before!

Worst thing was I could see her panicking that she couldn't, she was getting quite desperate and sighed with relief when she found it!

ThistletoeAndWine · 05/12/2013 13:10

I've heard baby twice,
First time was easy the second not so at it kept moving around -
So much so they had to hold my tummy down to get it to keep still! The heart beat was between 153-162 :-)

impatientlywaiting · 05/12/2013 13:28

Wm3010 that's how kicks started for me. Just thought they were general twinges but then I realised that they were getting far more regular.

Feel like I missed that exciting first kick feeling that you see in films as by the time I realised what they were I'd been having them for a few days. I'd say I've been having them for a week now and I'm 19+1 today.

Hezbean · 05/12/2013 13:35

littlebairn so sorry to hear your sad news. It really sounded like things were improving yesterday. You sound like you're being so strong, I think you're amazing. I just don't know what to say but am sending loads of love xxxxx

mrsmummytobe · 05/12/2013 13:45

Polly I'm in Central London.

I am finding people at work offering their opinions on what I should or shouldn't do in my pregnancy so irritating! I said we were going for a baby bond scan this weekend & this other teacher who is a mum kept saying why are we bothering, they will probably get the sex wrong & we are throwing away money!! Fair enough if she doesn't agree but isn't it our decision? Then she started telling me about how we'll never be able to leave the house again once it's born. Aargh it was all I could do to hold my tongue & not unleash all my pregnancy hormones on her haha! Rant over!

mumof2aimingfor4 · 05/12/2013 13:55

mrsmummy tell that other teacher to go screw! My fiance and I are 29 and I had dd1 at 20. Life doesn't stop and you can still go out, silly cow why is she trying to put a dampner on your joy! Next time she offers her opinion just say well you must be doing something wrong then! Our dd's have great social skills and are brilliant around adults because they've been brought up coming out for meals etc with us.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 05/12/2013 13:58

Oh and ive had one babybond scan and having another one for a gender scan on the 21st. We paid for the 4d scans with both dd's and will pay for it with this one too. Definitely not a waste of money, its magical. Maybe she's jealous.

Ooh impatiently that sounds promising, I have heard it described as bubbles and all sorts so wasn't expecting it to be mini-twinges. Fingers crossed that's what it is - although as you say a bit disappointing that I won't know when the first one actually was!

Hezbean · 05/12/2013 14:17

polly I'm in West London and they listened to the heartbeat at the 16 week appointment.

mrsmummytobe · 05/12/2013 14:22

Thanks mumof2, you have made me feel so much better!

mumof2aimingfor4 · 05/12/2013 14:42

No problem my lovely. I personally think being a parent will only be as difficult as you let it. We wouldn't be having number three otherwise!

rebeccax2 · 05/12/2013 14:49

Oh little you're so brave and strong. There is some comfort knowing they have figured out what is going wrong. All my love for you and your partner.

xx

AlyssInAManger · 05/12/2013 14:56

Unfortunately there's a bit of bad news my end as well. It looks like one of the twins' sacs has ruptured and I'm now leaking fluid.

wm3010 · 05/12/2013 15:08

Oh Alyss that's awful. Don't know what to say other than thinking of you.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 05/12/2013 15:17

Oh no alyss thinking of you.
