My scan is a week away and although I'm still feeling sick, I'm so scared there will be nothing there when we go for the scan. I've had recurrent mmc in the past. Sad
With nursery fees and generally being skint, we can't afford a private scan and the doctors just won't budge in giving me a scan before 12wks. I'll be 12.5 when I get it.
I think I may have lost my mind by then.

MarlenaGru · 11/12/2013 12:27

drama that really sucks. I hope the week goes quickly for you. The sickness sounds like a good sign though. Thanks

SleepyNess · 11/12/2013 12:49

Drama, everyth

SleepyNess · 11/12/2013 12:51

Drama, everything will be fine! Sickness is a very good sign you have a little baby bouncing in your tummy! I understand its hard, I was 12+4 during my scan, very stressful wait!

Vickyvix · 11/12/2013 12:55

drama I feel for you, the waiting is horrible. Try and keep yourself busy and next week will be here soon enough. Sending lots of positive vibes that your scan will be great and you will get to see your baby bouncing about :)

Redcliff · 11/12/2013 14:29

Drama - just wanted to send you some positive vibes if that's not hippy like. I really hope that the scan date comes around quickly . I can't believe they wouldn't send you for an early scan - I have had 2 mc and my dr sent me for one but my friend with the same history who goes to the same practice as me was turned down .

Redcliff · 11/12/2013 14:31

Bee - thanks for the top around the bags and I will keep my eye out. I had a quick look at the Argos site today and was surprised at how nice some of their bags were.

Biffle · 11/12/2013 14:57

Just want to say Hi! Am 11w5d with #3 and have my scan next Wednesday :)

Wickedwiggle86 · 11/12/2013 15:12

Ok, it's about time I asked to join you all; I have been stalking the thread for about 7 weeks! Am 12 weeks tomorrow; had a bit of a rocky start so was going to hold off joining until after scan on the 19th, but bought a Doppler and it has put my mind at ease enough for me to brave it! Sussex31 where abouts in sussex are you? I am in Sussex and also on the lookout for antenatal exercise classes- I'm actually a personal trainer in training so need to keep up my fitness

LadyGoneGaga · 11/12/2013 15:18

(Almost) snap, Biffle. I'm also 11+5 with no 3. but I have my scan on Friday.

Welcome.

And welcome, Wiggle.

AnnaBanana25 · 11/12/2013 15:36

Hi biffle and wiggle! I'm 11 and 3 today, got my scan date through for NEXT FRIDAY! Seems like ages away and like you, drama, I'm so nervous about anything going wrong.... Took us 2+ years to conceive, just want it all to go well. Fingers crossed for all of us! Roll on next Friday! Countdown, 9 days. Pfffft.

PS, about bags, I'm planning on baby carrying. Does anyone have any (ahem! Reasonably priced, ahem!) Tips for a good backpack or bag option while carrying a baby? First timer here! Ta :-)

panicmechanic · 11/12/2013 15:40

Hello! I had a pacapod Logan bag last time, it was a good bag and not too Girly so DH was happy! Got it as a pressie from work. My sickness seems to be calmer but I am very achey and tired!

panicmechanic · 11/12/2013 15:46

Arghhh my sausage fingers! baby bjorn natural is a good supportive sling. I think dopplers are great but please be careful with them and don't panic if you don't find a heartbeat all of the time. They don't always pick it up in every position. I got so concerned in my last pg that I gave mine away as it was making me paranoid! My mw said that they get lots of concerned calls and visits because of this.

Wickedwiggle86 · 11/12/2013 17:01

panic I agree re. Dopplers, I have only used it once as it was such a long gap between early scan and next one and after a couple of bleeds it really helped put my mind at ease. It is now back in the box until the day before scan, my sister wants to come as she is only 17 and quite excited but I won't let her if there is a chance we could get bad news. I didn't even want her to know yet but my mum can't keep quiet about anything!

wispaxmas · 11/12/2013 18:05

Phew, catching up on today, lots of chat!

mrscharlied, we have chosen our pram already, and I'm only 15 weeks today! We are going for the bugaboo buffalo, as I go for walks in the woods every day with the dog and want to be able to keep it up, and of all the all terrain prams in JL and mothercare, we liked it the best. Easy to fold, maneuver one-handed, etc.

BEE, we're planning to get an ergo, too. There are others that have the same benefit to baby, like the boba and the stoke my carrier, but my sister and SIL both loved their ergos!

Welcome wicked and biffle!

All I can contribute is that I thought I was over the fatigue, but my god, it has never been so tiring walking around an exhibition before. After an hour on my feet I just felt faint. Horrible, but the exhibition was well worth it!

So, I had my scan today! All good. My husband was very overcome. I was quite matter of fact -- think all the reports from you lot. plus quite a lot of googling, had left me knowing pretty well what to expect. But he had no idea the little bean was going to be so developed. I was a bit envious as it was a lovely surprise for him!

My dates are - to my great surprise - spot on. So I'm 22 June still. As my periods are very irregular and on the long side, I was sure I'd be in July. We'll see.

SO happy we can now tell people. I've got a strange meeting with my boss's boss next week, arranged by him and I don't know why. Just in case it's a promotion or special assignment I'm not telling work for another week. Slim chance but I honestly can't understand why he would have scheduled a meeting with me! So we'll tell family and close friends this week, swear them to secrecy especially regarding Facebook (unfortunately lots of my work colleagues are Facebook friends) and then go public next week.

Best of luck to all those who still have scans to go.

xx

MrsCharlieD · 11/12/2013 18:25

Fantastic news Sarah and hope your meeting goes well with your boss.

I got my downs screening results today and risk is 1:30000. Im happy with that and won't be doing any further testing. also booked a private gender scan for 12th January. So excited and looking forward to that.

Hope all the June ladies are doing well x x

MrsCharlieD · 11/12/2013 18:35

Hi wispa we've gone for the silver cross wayfarer as Im more of a city girl so it will be mostly pavements and roads it needs to deal with. Loved John Lewis staff in the prams section, they were so helpful and knew their stuff. We've started a nursery list their too but mainly just for keeping track of things. We won't be sending it to people or anything x

jaykay987 · 11/12/2013 19:14

I think I like uppababy vista the best. we need one with adjustable height for the handle (almost a foot and a half between me and dh!)

I like how easy it turns using just one hand. Think this will be useful especially in shops etc.

We're off to see PIL this weekend - and we'll be telling them. They're the first people we will have told, so all very exciting! I've ordered a "how to" grandparent book and a "savvy aunt" book for sil. Going to wrap them and see what they say when they open them! First grandchild.....so hope the reaction is good! :-) Getting excited now! We have an event Saturday....so we've got to keep quiet until Sunday! It's going go be hard spending the weekend with them and only being able to talk about it a few hours before we leave! but I don't want to overshadow the Saturday event in any way.

I'm still struggling with tiredness. Yesterday I was out 9-4pm. Train upto London, scan, quick walk around oxford st and home again. By the time I got back I had to nap!

Hot a big night out with work tomorrow. I've managed to get through one by driving, second by ordering nonalcoholic cocktails when no one was listening. Hoping I'll manage to order "tonics" tomorrow. Hardest thing I find about these nights out is staying awake! Grin

MrsCharlieD · 11/12/2013 19:23

I know what you mean jaykay. I should have been at an event yesterday in London but with not drinking and being so tired i had to make an excuse not to go. I really thought the tiredness would be easing but Im sleeping 11 hours a night and i could have easily had a nap at work this afternoon. Hope the second trimester energy burst kicks in soon x x

wispaxmas · 11/12/2013 19:47

mrscharlied, we have a JL nursery list as well. It was a request from my mom and sister, because they can't throw me a baby shower they told me to make one so they can order baby presents that we actually need. Otherwise like you it's a way to keep track of things!

wispaxmas · 11/12/2013 19:49

Aww, jaykay, that's a cute way to tell them! I'm a slight bit envious of your first grandchild status. My mom was super excited, but this will be her 6th gc, and will be 3rd on H's side.

Is anybody else getting horribly achy hips? Went for a massage today and when time came to turn over I physically couldn't because my hips had locked in place. This can't possibly be good this early in the pregnancy! Massage therapist is also a yoga teacher and gave me a list of stretches to do that will (fingers crossed) help keep me limber. You know what though? It still sucks. :(

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 11/12/2013 20:19

My SiL has stolen my thunder a bit as she's run off and got married and MiL is now way more concerned with that than with me and her first grandchild. Fair enough, I know she worries, but I'm a bit fed up with the hoo haa.

I'm eyeing the Bugaboo Buffalo - the expense gives me hives but I need and off-roady beach ready pram as that will be where I'll use it most.

AuntPittypat · 11/12/2013 20:24

Jaykay, that is a lovely way to tell them! I had my 2 year old DD tell my dad... Well, that was the plan but she got a bit confused and showed him the scan photo saying that it was her when she was in my tummy (she likes looking through her old scan photos so I can see why she was confused!). It then took me some minutes of explaining before my dad realised it was actually a new baby. He was really happy and emotional about it. I think more so than when we told him I was pregnant with DD (his first grandchild), probably because he's relieved that we're actually married now rather than - scandal! - having a child out of wedlock! He's quite old-fashioned.

I'm having a very rock and roll evening tonight. DH is out so I'm already snuggled up in bed with a mug of Ovaltine and my Kindle! Oh dear.

Glad to hear of lots more lovely scans. Smile
