Thought I'd get us started Smile

At our scan the sonographer actually pounded on my pelvis for a minute over and over to wake the baby up so we could see it move. Seemed a bit mean to me Blush still, was nice to see the waving arms and legs Grin

Sleepy tell him that when he's the one growing the human he can decide what to eat!!

Still so tired. I'm finding it so hard being back at work - my head is like cotton wool and my confidence has just dropped so I end up asking lots instead of making decisions. Can't help feeling I'm just a bit rubbish!

AnnaBanana25 · 10/12/2013 19:12

Was that a 12 Week scan, wispaxmas? If so I am really naive as I didnt realise you could see movement on a scan so early!

Oh, where is my scan letter? I just want it now already!!

Sussex31 · 10/12/2013 19:17

My scan is 8:30 tomorrow morning. So exciting :)

Good luck to everyone else with upcoming scans and congrats to those who have already had successful ones.

I'd love to join an antenatal exercise class soon but I am thinking it is probably still a bit early so just trying to get out and about walking as much as I can. I'm not exactly super fit and I have put on some weight already so want to get things going in a better direction in the second trimester.

What kind of classes are you planning to do? There really doesn't seem to be anything antenatal in my area apart from yoga, which is fine, but I'd like some variety really. Maybe I am just looking in the wrong places...

Hello ladies so pleased to hear news of wriggly babies!

Annabanana I had a scan a 10 weeks and my little bean was rolling around doing somersaults. Its amazing what you can see.

Booked my gender scan today for the 15th jan, 2 days after dh's birthday. Do I need to tell my nhs midwife if I've had a private scan?

MarlenaGru · 10/12/2013 19:25

I got prodded and whacked with the machine to move baby for the Nuchal fold too! Poor little chap wasn't allowed to just chill! It kicked and waved too. Our scanner was quite clear though. In 2007 the scanner at the hospital I was at was hard to see anything on!

summerbaby2014 · 10/12/2013 19:34

Just realised we have a new thread!

Are people starting to tell work now?I'm thinking I'll tell work tomorrow in advance of the Christmas party (to avoid those awkward questions!) but still waiting for the blood test results from the nuchal (scan was normal at 1.3mm - but still wondering about it, hence harmony test question in previous thread). Anyone else telling people straight after the scan, or waiting for blood test results too?

Sussex - I'm starting pregnancy Pilates, but couldn't get in a class until after Christmas. They do a mixture of chair, equipment and mat Pilates.

Marlena - I was also prodded a lot. Quite uncomfortable when you need a wee! Had to whack my pelvis on the bed a couple of times at one point to make him/her move into a better position!

Overall, happy to say goodbye to first trimester and starting to feel more human again :)

Poetschild · 10/12/2013 19:35

I had to lift my hips up and shake my bum to try to get baby to move. Then I had to get up and dance around. It didn't work though. Baby was being awkward (must take after Mum) so no nuchal test for us!

Hope you're all keeping well today!

summerbaby2014 · 10/12/2013 19:41

Poetschild - that's a real shame. Did you want a nuchal? Do you get a 2nd chance?

MarlenaGru · 10/12/2013 19:54

Thankfully we didn't need to go with a full bladder! I was nearly sick on the way there with nerves too! Luckily they saw me early as soon as I got there or I might have lost my breakfast!

wispaxmas · 10/12/2013 19:56

Anna, yes, it was the 12-wk scan. The sonographer told us she was just going to show us some movement... And then she violently assaulted my abdomen with her wand Grin

I'm not sure if they always do it, though.

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 10/12/2013 20:03

Mine did, she pressed the wand down really hard and jiggled and rubbed it to and fro, and yes, I did have a full bladder. Not good!

jaykay987 · 10/12/2013 20:28

Anna I'm straddling this bus and July bus. Using lmp Im due 22nd June, but early scan showed I'm closer to 5th July. At my scan today (10w+5) baby was moving so much it caused the sonographer all sorts of problens!

mrscharlie I think you're supposed to. I did, to try and reduce the wastage of nhs resources. Im having harmony and nuchal done privately - but mw wasn't remotely interested! So I also have a nhs scan next week! If it's an early scan you had - the dating information might be useful, but you'll still need an nhs 12w scan too - so they might not do much with the information!

MrsCharlieD · 10/12/2013 20:32

I had an internal scan in the end as baby just would not move into the right position for the nuchal. As soon as we did that the sonographer got all the measurements she needed and we got an amazing photo. Has anyone started buying things yet? I can't wait to be let loose in mamas and papas! X

AnnaBanana25 · 10/12/2013 20:32

Oooh I'm very excited about the scan now, and curious to see if I get whacked or asked to thrust myself about. Sounds entertaining to say the least. Hope I don't have a full bladder though... Had an early scan at 6 weeks and was at bursting point (literally ran to the loo after!!). Could barely concentrate on seeing the little bean!

summerbaby2014 I told close work colleagues today and we have begun to tell friends too... We haven't had a scan yet but it just feels that things are dragging on and we think things seem to be going ok. Its a bit of a gamble but its been so hard to keep quiet this long!

MrsCharlieD · 10/12/2013 20:35

Hi jay Kay i already had my 12 week scan and Im 14 weeks now but i really want my mum to be there for the 20 week scan and unfortunately she'll be swanning around the Caribbean when we have it. that's why we've opted for a private gender scan x

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 10/12/2013 20:39

MrsCharlie The two changing bags clever enticed me into buying at mothercare arrived today, they are lovely! Haven't bought anything else yet, though, I want to wait until closer to the time.

MrsCharlieD · 10/12/2013 20:39

Summerbaby i have gone public since my scan was ok. i told work earlier but only because the office rumour mill had been working overtime and it got back to me that people were saying i was because id not been drinking when taking my clients out x

summerbaby2014 · 10/12/2013 20:44

Best of luck with the scan annabanana. Let us know how it goes!

Ugh, office rumours suck. I'm convinced people keep looking at my stomach but I'm trying to convince myself
I'm being paranoid

MrsCharlieD · 10/12/2013 20:44

Inthebee I've been looking at changing bags but its a minefield. I am a self confessed bag obsessive and snob and i just don't want some ugly man bag. I've seen a gucci one but will it really end up covered in wee and sick?! X

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 10/12/2013 20:47

Hah, MrsCharlie, I was just whinging to DH that Lulu Guinness should make changing bags - I think he was very unimpressed g.

MrsCharlieD · 10/12/2013 20:50

The rumour mill is ridiculous. I went from an alleged drinking problem to an illness (because id had time off for unexplained appointments that were midwife and scans but i hadn't told anyone) to then being pregnant. It feels a relief to have it out in the open even if i do suddenly appear to be getting left out a bit. Im just hoping i can keep my company car while Im on ml x

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 10/12/2013 20:51

Here are some nice leather ones:

I'm quite happy with the wipeable ones I got from Babymel.

MrsCharlieD · 10/12/2013 20:53

Dh says i can only have the gucci if he can have a new guitar. guess Im going to the music shop this week! He already has 3 though, i mean how many guitars does one person need?! X

MrsCharlieD · 10/12/2013 20:54

Love lulu Guinness Inthebee i have the red lips clutch x
