Congrats to all with good scans today :) fab news!

jay think pregnancy would normally be listed separately and not sure the pre existing condition bit would be relevant unless you had complications you already knew about. Could you give the insurance co a ring on the sly?

That's fab news smallbear, hope all goes well with harmony, and it's all good news for the new year.

Good to hear about mc risk being 2%. I won't believe all is ok though, until baby is born. I can't help it! Dh looked up scanning machines on ebay for a joke and said it was the only way I'd ever feel reassured!

My ms has gone overboard in the past week. It's bloody awful, isn't it. Last week couldn't get out of bed except to vom, and wee at the same time. Argh. Hating it, didn't have this with ds, but did with my mmc.

Good luck for those with scans tomorrow!

thank you everyone for the advice on feeling bunged up! Another pregnancy symptom...lovely!
jaykay could you try to take out an independent insurance and not tell anyone? just an idea...
If it is any consolation, I will have to travel abroad three times between Feb and May. I was planning on taking out the BIPA cover or something...I understand the second trimester is the safest to fly, so you should be ok

yes - maybe I could bug my own insurance. ackhhh! I think I just don't want to go! I'll have time to work out what to do over Christmas.

brightonsquirrel yes my scan is after work on Thursday. Only 9 weeks though - 12 week scan is on 15th Jan but with Christmas in the way I couldn't wait that long to tell family. Fingers crossed for you and everyone else with scans coming up.

fifi we're paying about £500 for the Harmony test in London. Scan on Thursday, very excited!

Jaykay Mine is at 11am! I'm looking forward to it but also worrying (as usual) Wish they would give you results of blood test the same day, but I think from what I've read it takes 1-2 weeks!

MrsA I'm worried about the NT too and hoping results come back before Xmas but I doubt it!

fifi I'm just having the normal 12 week scan, I had never heard of the harmony one before reading about it on here.

I am a little Envy of the harmony revealing the gender, would love to know this early!

Mrs B - I had the flu jab two weeks ago it was fine.

I have my private 12 week scan on friday so we will have the results of the bloods then too. DH wants to tell everyone over Christmas (the parents already know though). I am reluctant to do this as I hate being the centre of attention and secondly it means I won't be able to tell my family personally as I am at DHs for Christmas this year which I think is unfair. Plus being over 40 I will probably need further tests (probably going for Harmony) and I wouldn't want to say anything before the test results are back and we are happy with them. He is being very grumpy about this and my severe nausea is not helping.

Sorry feeling decidedly grumpy at the moment Grin. Anyone else got food tasting weird? I had carrots yesterday and they tasted of beef, bananas taste of pickled onions too. On the other hand I cannot get enough of prawn cocktail flavour crisps and supernoodles Confused

Just back from my first midwife appointment. Had an unexpected scan! I'm in the US and I think they scan more here. Glad I didn't know in advance as I would've been so nervous. Thankfully DH was with me. All on track and measuring the same as dates. Good strong heartbeat Grin. So happy to know before Christmas especially as my mum arrives on Saturday.

Next scan in three weeks. Need to go and have bloods in two weeks. Including a DNA test and when we get the results we'll find out the sex. Guessing it might be similar to harmony? Was offered it as I'll be 35 when baby born.

It's all very different to my early appointments and scans with the nhs.
