Good luck!

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 13/12/2013 07:09

good luck darling.

Plateofcrumbs · 13/12/2013 07:20

So sorry doctordonna - hope all goes well today, and then gorge yourself silly on beer, pâté and steak at Christmas!

jaykay - good to hear someone negotiating the work night out successfully - I have my last do next week and am planning the 'have a glass of wine in front of me' tactic too. 6 more sleeps til a scan at 9 weeks. Don't know how we are supposed to hold out until 12 weeks, just getting to 9 has been a torture

DoctorDonnaNoble · 13/12/2013 09:24

I have a bottle of Crabbie's ginger beer waiting for this evening! Was meant to be going to a gig tonight. Don't think that will happen! Focus for the new year is training for the Edinburgh Marathon (so glad I didn't give up my place!) and getting back to TTC in about 2 weeks time! Happy New Year indeed!

LemonLovely · 13/12/2013 10:19

Doctor so sorry to hear your news; best of luck with everything.

jaykay987 I got around my work Christmas do the same way as you! Poured myself a glass of wine, about half-full so at a glance it looked like I was mid-glass. And then just left that in front of me, picking up and holding a few times and fake sipping couple of times. Really glad I did as at one stage when someone was going to the bar I asked for a soda and lime. One of my colleagues was at the bar and asked him who was on a softs, and when he was told me, he came straight over and said, 'Oi, I heard you’re not drinking!' So I was able to say, oh, I have wine here, but I was gasping so asked for a soft to go with. Phew!! Appraisal yesterday, which ended with an overview of the millions of objectives I have for next year – eek!

jaykay987 · 13/12/2013 10:39

I'm starting to stress about work. I haven't told them yet, and was planning on holding off as until early feb if my 18week tummy by then would allow. But, Ive just found out they want me to be part of a "crazy" team running 2 day workshops - which is exhausting when they only send one of us - 6countries in three weeks! That on top of the two three day workshops already planned for two other countries the two weeks prior......I am worried! I know flying in second trimester is actually the best of the three in which to fly - but I don't want to over do it! If anything happened, I'm not sure I could do anything but blame myself if that's my schedule!

Dilemma! Even if I tell straight after Christmas (Ill be approx 14weeks) not sure a risk assessment would get done before the flights all get booked early next year plus it will likely ruin my planned promotion application - hence why I had planned on keep quiet!

It's thinking like this that is keeping me up at night Smile

AuntieMaggie · 13/12/2013 10:39

Doctor hope it goes ok today.

I went out for a Christmas meal last night and stuck with lime and soda - so many other people were on soft drinks that it didn't matter anyway! Sunday will be the hard one in terms of not drinking but I'll just say I've got a hard week ahead at work or something.

My stomach feels uncomfortable today :(

ismarah · 13/12/2013 10:40

Doctor Very sorry for your news but it's been awesome to see how determined you are. I hope you really enjoy your trip, beer and pate, as well as the marathon, safe in the knowledge you can get pregnant, IYKWIM.

SmallOlympianBear · 13/12/2013 12:48

Doctor, let us know how the op went. Small comfort I know, but I'm glad you found out earlier than the 12 week scan, which is what happened to me. Make sure you get plenty of rest afterwards. I was unprepared for how whacked out I'd feel after the general anaesthetic. I remember a friend bringing round a massive camembert afterwards though, which was cheese heaven! Brilliant plan to do Edinburgh marathon.

SmallOlympianBear · 13/12/2013 12:54

Sickness has returned for me after a few days' grace. Going through a bad patch at work so was stewing angrily rather than sleeping last night, which probably didn't help! DD had a tummy bug too and is not her usual self either, what a pair. 10 weeks today and have the Harmony scan on Monday, so we shall see...

BlueC2 · 13/12/2013 12:58

I second what olympianbear said Donna I was pretty wiped after my erpc a couple of years ago. Best bit of advice I had though was to get some cheaP pregnancy tests from amazon and test once a week til I got a bfn so I then knew it was safe to ttc and get a reliable poas result after that iyswim. Take good care and enjoy Belgium. Hope it's all gone ok today-not a pleasant experience at all but at least means you can move forward

I am feeling quite pleased as actually managed to take DS1 for his swimming lesson this morning, we've not been for a few weeks as he was ill and I'd been feeling so rough but his new teacher is great and DS did so well this morning and I wasn't sick :)

DoctorDonnaNoble · 13/12/2013 16:33

Just waiting for discharge. Bruised and battered but still feeling positive. Going to enjoy lots of non-pregnancy foods and drinks before January then full steam ahead! Grin

ismarah · 13/12/2013 17:04

Spent this afternoon with DH in hospital for a routine thing - everywhere I looked were bowlegged women walking carefully and tiredly, while a proud daddy carried a car seat with a freshly popped bean. That was terrifying...interesting...

elliejjtiny · 13/12/2013 17:46

So sorry Donna. Glad you didn't have to wait too long for the ERPC. Make sure you get lots of rest, watch tv box sets and eat lots of chocolate.

Zing yep, baby number 5. And all quite close together too. DS1 is only 7, I won't tell you how old DS4 is, it's too embarrassing and you'll think we don't have a tv Blush. A bit scary as at the moment by the time we've got all 4 ready to go out at the weekend it's nearly lunchtime and I'm cream crackered so we spend a small fortune in sainsburys café, do the weekly food shop and come home. I've been wanting to buy a new cardigan for me and some bits for the DC's for weeks but we never quite get that far.

Safyre Me too. I'm 31 years old and terrified of telling my mum and dad that I'm pregnant. They didn't speak to me for a month after I told them about DS4, I'm dreading their reaction this time.

ismarah I went to see a friend on the antenatal ward this week, then wished I hadn't. There is still time for someone to invent a non painful way of doing this right?

This week I've been craving apples. I keep laughing at SIL because normally she is super healthy and I'm constantly eating biscuits. Now I'm craving apples and she's craving donuts Grin. She's still thinner than me despite being about 20 weeks more pregnant than me Envy.

AuntieMaggie · 13/12/2013 18:23

Who was it that recommended the 'pregnancy for men' book? It arrived today and I'm debating whether to hold onto it for Christmas or give it to him now... Read a bit of it myself and scared myself a bit with the stuff on missed miscarriages :( but its interesting reading the other stuff

kim2783 · 13/12/2013 18:43

Drdonna, well done you and your positive attitude. Hope all resolves itself quickly. enjoy your cider and cheese!

I've got a pregnancy for men book for dh but saving it as a Christmas present.

We're heading home to Ireland next week for Christmas, stayed in Scotland last year with the in laws so looking forward to getting home for a bit over the holidays.

Pearlsaplenty · 13/12/2013 21:15

doctor I hope you're home now taking it easy. I remember reading that after m/c your immune system is a lot lower so definitely look after yourself, take time off work and get lots of rest Flowers And enjoy all the banned pregnancy food+ alcohol + marathon training :)

Pearlsaplenty · 13/12/2013 21:21

I thought my sickness has gone but it hasn't :( also the diarrhoea has come back Angry

I went swimming today and I really need to get a maternity swimsuit as although it didn't look too small it gave me terrible pains in my stomach/boobs afterwards so I think I was somewhat compressed Blush

I've got my 12 week scan next week and am so looking forward to leaving first trimester! Hooray!!

BlueC2 · 14/12/2013 02:26

Early morning all-pregnancy insomnia is back :( wide awake and it's 2am or thereabouts! Plus stomach gurgling as if not eaten for 2 days (despite lasagne for dinner several satsumas and a sneaky small Lindt reindeer since!) and there's nothing in the kitchen I fancy eating-just want to sleep!! Grrr I remember this from last time and it's SO frustrating when you're shattered but then wide awake half the night! Sorry moan over...

Plateofcrumbs · 14/12/2013 07:38

Spending weekend with a pregnant friend whose DH doesn't drink. Hurrah I thought, my DH and I can claim we're taking opportunity for pre-Xmas detox and enjoy a booze-free weekend where I don't have try to trick anyone.

Have just been informed they've got a bottle of good champagne in so friend can have a little glass - with the expectation that DH and I will finish the bottle.

So looks like it's secretive glass swapping and DH drinking 95% of a bottle of fizz single-handed. It's like something from a sitcom.

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 14/12/2013 08:53

crumbs

how funny! Grin
try fake spilling it all over the table...

I was so ill on Thursday DH had to go in late and come home early to do the school runsShock
I spent the day on the sofa - but since then I feel a lot better and on Thursday night I managed half a chicken kebab!
(have lost 6 lbs so far, as I can only eat a fraction of what I normally consume)

ZingBoy4 is 7 today!
I'm looking forward to Chinese takeaway tonight, yum

grobagsforever · 14/12/2013 08:56

Hi all. Not been on for a while. Finally got scan date for 30th. Feeling sick and tired. Survived work xmas do by pretend sipping wine and then chucking it down the loo!!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 14/12/2013 10:39

Zing, I could do with losing 6lbs! But I just bought Brie and brandy butter so unlikely this side of Christmas!

BlueC2 · 14/12/2013 12:12

Just so tired. Really wish I hadn't been awake from 12-4am last night :( and constantly hungry but with an overtone of nausea-roll on the end of the first trimester please!!

Well done with weight loss zing I daren't get on scales as seem to be eating constantly

Donna brie sounds super yummy right now-enjoy! How are you feeling after yest? Take care

DoctorDonnaNoble · 14/12/2013 12:44

I'm feeling great. And really hopeful as everything went really well. Might go for a walk/run tomorrow if the weather stays nice, massage on Monday, Carol concerts on Wednesday and Thursday then staff Christmas do on Friday! Fortunately last week of term activities in school are quite friendly. I won't need to stand up much! Thanks for all the good wishes people. And hope you're all coping ok with the first trimester silliness.
