Morning all, I've been reading through but struggling to get time to pop on and say hi. All seems ok here, still shattered but slightly less these I think. Trying to get our house up together to sell (hoping to move somewhere bigger) so spent the weekend tidying before the estate agent comes round to take photos.

We told parents last weekend and BIL and SIL (who have a five week old), everyone dead excited which was lovely. Got the NHS 12 wk scan on Thursday. I'm really worried about the nuchal results, can't stop fretting that something is wrong. Really hope to get my risk results before Christmas.

Have a good Monday everyone

BrightonSquirrel · 16/12/2013 09:07

Really pleased to hear you're feeling ok and still so amazingly positive after the op Doctor. Have a wonderful Christmas eating brie & pâté and drinking for the rest of us. Enjoy the trying next year & let us know how you get on. Looking forward to hearing you boarding a springtime bus and having a beautiful baby!

I survived my Xmas do on Friday night. Although survived is the word. Three courses of very rich food didn't help. Neither did the fact that I stupidly sipped at some Prosecco someone put in front of me. Drunk a third of a glass over the course of 3hrs and ended up with the worst projectile vomiting in the restaurant toilets. It was over the wall, the floor - eurgh! Had to do my best to mop it up with loo roll then go pretend I was fine.

12wk scan on Thursday so really hoping the pretence is almost over!

elliejjtiny · 16/12/2013 09:22

zing I got a lot of poor you, what a shame after my C-section. It was like I'd been in a car crash instead of had a baby. Didn't help that DS4 was in NICU and DH was looking after the other children so couldn't visit much (DS3 in particular just wanted to charge up and down the ward) so I was on my own on the postnatal ward with no baby while everyone else had their partners with them all day and loads of visitors at visiting time. I expect people would have come if I hadn't told them not to but I didn't want to sit and make small talk by my bed and only parents and siblings were allowed in NICU. The first person to say congratulations was my GP when I rang up to ask for more clexane and painkillers. I think DS4 was about 5 days old by then.

PS I get leakage too Blush. I find the best way is to quickly have a wee while desperately trying not to puke and then get up, turn round and cross your legs in one fluid motion before puking. I puke about 10 times a day so got it down to a fine art now!

Kim DS4 had his lip repaired 2 weeks ago and will have his palate done in march. Really hope it doesn't get delayed by much as I don't fancy my waters going while I'm in a hospital 90 mins drive away from home or having a DC in NICU in our local hospital and another DC having surgery in a different hospital.

elliejjtiny · 16/12/2013 09:47

(quick pause to puke)

jaykay I've not been told that morning sickness is all in the mind but my mum kept telling me that morning sickness is worse with girls so it couldn't be that bad with DS4. DH told me I was puking "wrong" when I was pg with DS4. I always stand up and bend over but apparently you're meant to kneel down in front of the loo. I'm 5ft1in, if I knelt down to puke I'd hit my chin on the loo seat!

So today I was meant to be going into town to get a few last minute Christmas bits and browse the Christmas market but DS3 has woken up with one of those tummy bugs where he is hungry so he eats something and 10 minutes later his nappy explodes. So today will mostly be spent scrubbing and puking instead, lovely. I've got Thursday free but that's it this week so fingers crossed nobody else has it by then. DS1 has had it already and DS2 had a tummy bug a week ago that was hopefully that was the same thing.

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 16/12/2013 10:02

ellie

if I have time I normally run in the bathroom and either take my trousers & knickers off or stuff a towel down my pants.
then I have to have a shower.
and if I'm not quite finished I might carry on being sick while being in the shower.
glamorous or what?Grin

blue sorry you are in the same club as well, but I'm glad I'm not alone, it does make me feel better weirdly!Smile

and ellie I was way sicker with boys, than with DD! just shows that there is absolutely no way to know, there are no "rules" .
and I carried all of them the same way.

Safyre · 16/12/2013 10:31

Another feeling constantly sick and hungry. MW has adjusted my due date to July 30th, so I am only just making it into this group! Still keeping my fingers crossed for ELCS and being earlier as a result - DS's birth was horrible and there is no way I can do that again.

Am also not even 8 weeks yet and feeling very far behind the rest of you. No actual sickness, just lots of nausea and dizziness.

Parents and siblings have now all been told (with one exception who we won't see until Christmas). No one else until post-scan.

Now, if I could just stop eating...

SmallOlympianBear · 16/12/2013 10:57

Thanks for the good wishes. On my way to the scan now and feeling nervous. Jaykay, yep it's at the FMC.

Zing, Ellie and all the others being sick - hope you feel better soon. I haven't vommed since Friday. Obviously this is a good thing, but trying not to worry that it's a bad sign. Ellie your comment about puking the wrong way made me smile. I'd rather stand too, getting to near the toilet makes the whole experience even worse!

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 16/12/2013 11:03

small

good luck, fx!

ismarah · 16/12/2013 11:03

I must puke wrong then too. I have a tendency to throw up when I have diarrhea so usually do it sitting on the toilet, into a washbasin. Open windows are really quite necessary under those circumstances, I find. TMI FTW!

Good luck Olympian FX

ismarah · 16/12/2013 11:06

Safyre I have yet to throw up because of bean. I've gagged lots, been nauseous for weeks and could burp for England, but no vom. So be glad if that's you too. How sick you are is no measure of how well the pregnancy is going.

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 16/12/2013 12:39

just called the hospital and I managed to negotiate a scan for the 3rd January! Smile
MW app the day before.
phew, finally!

and relax...

(I had a little cry)

BlueC2 · 16/12/2013 13:34

jay oops :) no offence meant to MIL

zing yeah to scan date I have mine that day too!

Ellie hope the bug doesn't spread-not fun!

Just having a little lie down while DS naps though I have a million other things I should be doing! One being working out what on earth we're having for dinner tonight-for some strange reason I have a thing for stuff in creamy (not tomato) sauces at the moment-it was potato with DS but at least that was simple to cook! Have pork mince out of the freezer and have no idea what I'm going to concoct!

jaykay987 · 16/12/2013 14:01

No worries blue Funny slip!

So...any suggestions.......

Work want me to go and visit 6 countries in a space of three weeks next year to run workshops. I am worried about how knackered I will be. But on a more important note - I don't know if I'll be covered for health insurance. I have just read the work insurance policy - and it says it does not cover any "pre-existing conditions". What do you think? Reckon that would also include pregnancy? I'm thinking it would.

Aggghhhh....I was hoping to tell work as late as possible. Unfortunately it now looks like I'll have to tell them before I have to book these flights - as I'll need to be insured as I don;t want to be worrying about healthcare costs if something happens. Probably first full week back after Christmas. Urgghhhhh!

SmallOlympianBear · 16/12/2013 14:15

Wow, scan was fine! Everything in the right place and the right size. Now just a 2 week wait for the Harmony results. At 41 i'm glad this is an option for me, Though I hadn't realised that there's a 5% chance that the test won't work, which can apparently happen if there's not enough DNA in the sample. Though they took 3 vials so surely that's enough of the stuff?! Anyway, feeling more positive :)

Zing good news you've finally got a scan date.

jaykay987 · 16/12/2013 14:43

yes small and apparently the most likely reason of their not bring enough DNA is if the mother is overweight. Hence why I am expecting mine not to work just so I'm not disappointed. You do get a partial refund though if it fails the second time too.

Plateofcrumbs · 16/12/2013 15:39

Glad the scan went well smallbear - good luck to everyone else getting a pre-Xmas scan. Three more sleeps til mine - I'm getting the fear.

Survived champagne ordeal this weekend (surreptitious glass swapping - DH had to drink about 5 glasses worth and passed out on friend's sofa). Also had ordeal by rare roast beef - our friend carefully cutting a well done piece for his pregnant missus and 'saved the nice rare bits for the rest of us'. Managed to grab the least rare bit - it wasn't super-rare so won't lose sleep over it.

Biffle · 16/12/2013 15:52

Hi All! I am due 27th June so in all likelihood will have a July baby so think (if you don't mind) I will bob between the June and July bus :)

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 16/12/2013 16:59

blue

high five!Grin

time? mine's at 11.20

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 16/12/2013 17:07

welcome biffle!

I do wonder about statistics.
I seem to remember that 10% babies are born on their due date, about 50% are late and 40% early.

mine screw up the statistics Grin - 5 were late and DS4 was only early coz of ELSC.

DS1 were born on 27th July and DS2 on the 13th, so this one could potentially be sharing a birthday with one of them!
(plus we have 4 more family members in July - a nephew, a SiL, a Bil and Fil!
very busy month)

dollydaydream27 · 16/12/2013 17:10

Congrats on the scan smallbear. I'm having a bit if a wobble today nausea and hunger have disappeared , has really worried me never thought I would wish to feel nauseaus !
Scan not until New Year's Eve am 10 weeks today.

Plateofcrumbs · 16/12/2013 17:27

My symptoms have been very up and down dolly - am just trying to appreciate the nausea free days!

ismarah · 16/12/2013 17:45

Yay scan Olympian !

Welcome Biffle

I have like zero interest in food at the moment. Or the holidays. It's all bah humbug in my house. Xmas Confused

Called re my 12 week scan and will hopefully hear back tomorrow. With a bit of luck I'll get a scan before hols. Maybe that will cheer me up? Also planning a trip to garden centre to look at the pretties and get a treeeeeeeee!

AuntieMaggie · 16/12/2013 17:58

SmallOlympianBear what results are you waiting for from the scan?

BrightonSquirrel · 16/12/2013 18:09

Plateofcrumbs - three more sleeps? That must be Thursday - me too! With you on the fear. Been so optimistic the whole way and symptoms are all there, but just desperate to see that reassurance on the screen. Good luck!

Congratulations Small that's brilliant news. :-)

roozocheeks · 16/12/2013 18:21

Congrats on the scan small! I had mind today too, so amazing to see it , but so strange when it's moving and I can't feel anything! Scan puts my due date at 26th June, meaning I'm 12+4 today, further than I had thought, please can I stay here though?!
