Nice one jaykay

DoctorDonnaNoble · 10/12/2013 15:42

Just got in from work. Think I may go for a nap. I have a lovely treat of Stracciatella Lindor (yum) and toad in the hole and mash for dinner - kiddy food seems to be where it's at at the moment.Grin

jaykay987 · 10/12/2013 15:46

ooh....I love toad in the hole!

BlueC2 · 10/12/2013 16:21

I seem to have developed a thing for pancakes today Blush in between the feeling sick that is!

ZingSweetPea · 10/12/2013 16:29

Jay

yay! great news!

my thing is brioche and Fanta ATM.
as of yesterday no frying of onions or garlic are allowed.
no garlic bread either
tomato sauce is completely banned.

and as always I can not touch raw chicken. I can't even look at it.
[weirdo]

BlueC2 · 10/12/2013 16:56

zing DH's super strength chilli sauce has been banned from the house- I just can't bear the smell of it!!

Somehow managed to bake mince pies this afternoon-first Christmas baking done :)

DoctorDonnaNoble · 10/12/2013 17:05

I'm not the only one to suddenly go violently anti-garlic then!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 10/12/2013 17:30

I've felt a little woozy/not quite dizzy all day. Is that normal?

NancyinCali · 10/12/2013 18:04

I really want toad in the hole now.

More twins! How exciting baggy Grin.

Excellent news jaykay

Fly I feel the tiniest bit nauseous today. If I try hard. Midwife appointment in 7 days and counting so will see what she thinks. I'm sure she'll tell me it's very normal.

dollydaydream27 · 10/12/2013 18:20

Congrats jay fab news!!
I'm currently building up the courage to make spaghetti bolognese it's dp's favourite and it was his birthday yest so want to make something nice. The thing is I feel so sick I can't face it yet !! I feel fine when I wake up in the morning nausea begins about 2 and continues throughout the evening haven't actually barfed yet so counting myself lucky in that respect.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 10/12/2013 18:22

I now have a stash of ginger biscuits for nausea attacks at work!

dollydaydream27 · 10/12/2013 18:43

Do they work doctordonnanoble ?

DoctorDonnaNoble · 10/12/2013 18:45

They make my nausea better. But I think that may be because it's helpful to snack more generally.

ismarah · 10/12/2013 18:45

Jaykay That's brilliant news!

Doctor Fingers crossed for you for Thursday.

I'm oddly well. Spend most evenings queasy but it doesn't go anywhere so it's slightly less miserable than otherwise. Not too knackered. Not too sore anywhere. Not too full of weird cravings. Don't hate odd food things. Just pottering along.

Although BMI was the main reason I'm being sent to a consultant, it's only just over 30, which is the cut off point. MW didn't mention anything about extra folic acid or aspirin or dieting or anything but then she was probably just aching to get rid of me. Am really hoping I don't have to see the same one throughout - including home visits - as then I really would complain and ask for someone else.

I am currently researching calorific requirements during pregnancy and exercise etc, as I really don't want to put on that much weight. Previous health problems caused a pile-on of weight and I'd got rid of most some of it by calorie counting and doing shitloads of exercise, before the MA etc slowly added a bit of it back on. If anyone has any good pregnancy fitness recommendations (mainly books or blogs) I'd love it..

I'm just really short for my weight. Grin

DoctorDonnaNoble · 10/12/2013 18:48

Low impact is best in pregnancy I believe. That's why swimming, aquacise and yoga get mentioned. Have you heard of/tried a TRX class? They're brilliant. When I know what's happening I'm going back to mine and running. But being hyper-cautious at the moment.

LazyDogJumpedOver · 10/12/2013 19:17

Someone at work made bovril - I felt so sick with the smell of it!!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 10/12/2013 19:49

The toad in the hole was triumphant! Grin

Plateofcrumbs · 10/12/2013 20:05

I really want toad in the hole now!

Exercise-wise I'm still running (when I'm not feeling too tired/sick). My yoga teachers were being a bit funny about the first tri but will go back as soon as I can in tri 2. Haven't done much swimming since summer but I plan to start up again.

ZingSweetPea · 10/12/2013 20:14

donna

I can eat garlic cream cheese though, but cooking smells, no.

and MIL eats raw garlic (don't ask) and I almost puked on her when she came over to help earlier.
I kept on walking away to keep a distance, pretending to do stuff while she was talking, but she kept on following me.

it was a joy to get out on my own, breathing in cold fresh winter air and doing Tesco shopping. bliss!Grin

I'm tempted to go for a little drive tonight with the windows down. our house smells like salami for some reason. Confused
(I opened all the windows to get rid of it. I think I imagine it)

ZingSweetPea · 10/12/2013 20:15

excersice - cycling is fine too.

contact sports are out, or anything that involves jumping, sit ups or being upside down.

Charotte31 · 10/12/2013 20:15

So sorry to hear that pint. Happened to me 3 years. 2 mcc in 3 months. Such an awful time but it all ended well and I had a beautiful baby girl the year after. Hope you get lucky next time.

Congrats jay!

I had a bleed yesterday went in for a scan and thankfully all ok. I'm 8+6 now. Roll on the next 3 weeks!

ismarah · 10/12/2013 20:53

Thanks ladies re exercise advice - aware of all those - just need to DO IT!

Another weight question: in the past I've calorie counted to lose weight and done so successfully (eventually!). Are there any compelling reasons for NOT calorie counting to MAINTAIN weight while pregnant? I have a very low basal metabolic rate and have already put on about 4-6 pounds since becoming pregnant. As I am 'obese' (hate that feckin word!) I should aim to put on no more than about 11-16 pounds total during pregnancy. In order to do that, I figured calorie counting might help. I also find, weirdly, that I eat better anyway when I count.

Maintenance cal count for my current obese weight is 1840cals whereas my usual lose weight cal count would be 1250-1500cals daily. I am quite sedentary and I find that exercise calories don't really need fo be eaten as long as I have a decently high cal count in the first place. I lose weight very slowly and it takes all the patience, but it does go in a healthy way.

coco808 · 10/12/2013 20:56

glad to hear all went well jaykay

AuntieMaggie · 10/12/2013 21:31

ismarah you need to talk to a dietician - most things I've read say not to restrict calories when pregnant and your metabolism will be different because of the different hormone levels.

AuntieMaggie · 10/12/2013 21:41

I've got a sheet in my folder thats a checklist for women with bmi over 30 which includes 5mg folic acid until 13 weeks, weight leaflet, vit d, discuss risks (and lists them), aspirin if additional risk factors (first pregnancy, over 40, family history pet, multiple pregnancy), thromboprophylaxis assessment, refer to consultant.
