I've got the flu jab next week. If it protects the baby it's a def I think.

Casmama · 01/12/2013 21:50

I had no problem with the flu jab- same as Babymama my GP did it when I went into confirm pregnancy. Arm sore for a few days - no-brainer for me.

jaykay987 · 01/12/2013 21:53

I got it a couple of weeks ago. No side effects at all - so definitely worth it for me!

Urgh.....anyone dreaming that it's Monday tomorrow?!

BlueC2 · 01/12/2013 22:00

Anyone had an early scan at 8 weeks able to jog my memory on whether they can see enough to do external rather than internal scan? Just trying to sort in my head what to expect tomorrow. Thanks!

Re flu jab I also had it when I saw GP to register pregnancy and also just had a sore arm for a few days.

Casmama · 01/12/2013 22:08

I had a scan at 7wks (measured6+5) and could see the baby and heartbeat but she wanted to do an internal to get a better look and take some measurements.

Hopefully at 8 weeks an abdo would be fine but tbh the internal was far less uncomfortable than a smear test so I wouldn't worry about it either way.

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis · 01/12/2013 22:16

blue
external is doable but internal is fine.
although it makes me laugh when they put a condom on the probe - just ironic as we don't use condoms, ever, so it's funny that it's used for me when pg!Grin

BlueC2 · 01/12/2013 22:19

Thanks cas have had internal ones before when MC before DS just can't remember what they did when I had early one with DS-think was so nervous it's all bit of a blur! Guess I'll need to be guzzling water then and assume it'll be external. Have kinda been blocking it all from my mind but now it's tomorrow I have to think about it!

BlueC2 · 01/12/2013 22:22

Yes zing the look on poor DHs face when I had to have internal when MC found and they pulled out condom and lubrication for the probe-i had at least read about them on MN so was a little less shocked!

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis · 01/12/2013 22:24

remember to pee an hour before the app then start drinking.
Otherwise you might burst!Grin

good luck, fx

NancyinCali · 01/12/2013 23:52

Just spent three days at Disney and I'm exhausted! Couldn't sleep the first two nights which didn't help and my DD was awake (and singing) at 6am today. I'm ridiculously bloated so look like I have a bump already despite only being 6w. Still no sickness (not complaining) but plenty other symptoms (bloating, constant weeing, sore boobs, exhausted, insomnia, constipation!). I was the same with DD. I ended up having to wear baggy tops to work and put a hair tie through my trouser button holes to do them up at this same stage before.

I'm very behind with everyone's news but good luck to those with scans this week and those awaiting their next scan. And hayley, my April 2012 friend, hope all is good with you and the two beans!

Jeezaloo · 02/12/2013 04:03

Yes Nancy same here. I couldn't do up any of my trousers this morning! I'm only about 8w, so panicking that this is it now! Back on the fibogel drinks I think. I remember this with DS though, constipation from day 1 - but at least I could still do up my clothes. I didn't start on maternity clothes until I was about 20w. Had to have a bowl of bran every morning though!

So, other than exhaustion, constipation, bloating and spots, I'm feeling radiant! Xmas Hmm

Still no word here on when I might have a dating scan. I'm a bit worried though as I'm on holiday for 3 weeks over Christmas, and think that might be the window for the 12 week scan and nuchal testing. Hopefully a dating scan will show some flexibility though.

Jeezaloo · 02/12/2013 09:44

You see, this is why I lurk more than I post - I've killed the thread Xmas Sad. It was all that talk of constipation, wasn't it!?

justhayley · 02/12/2013 10:46

Grin I Nancy. How was Disney?
So far so good with my 2. Havnt really had any symptoms which has stressed the life out of me. However N decided to have a lie in this morning so thought it would be rude of me to get up Grin Although when I did get up at 10GrinGrinGrin I felt super rough because I hadn't eaten and had been awake for 2 hours, so spent 20 mins with my head in a bucket trying not to be sick! Was fine once I ate something.

It's weird I'm starving in the mornings and late at night but during the day I don't feel like eating anything - am almost making myself eat.

justhayley · 02/12/2013 10:47

Wow far too many smilie faces in that post lol

DoctorDonnaNoble · 02/12/2013 11:16

I'm finding I need to snack regularly to keep nausea at bay - is that normal?

DinkyMole · 02/12/2013 12:17

I think so Donna. My nausea is worst when I'm hungry or full - if I keep it somewhere in the middle I feel okay.

jaykay987 · 02/12/2013 13:03

same here. the thought of food is horrendous, but if I don't force myself to eat - I feel awful. I also feel ill if I've eaten too much (which is taking much less than normal).

So I tend to graze all day long!

I have had a hankering for coco pops with really cold milk! I had some at the weekend and they were amazing! I obviously knew the canteen wouldn't have any. So I settled on a cheese and pickle sandwich - but they ran out of pickle. So I then decided I couldn't possibly eat anything else!

Arrrghhh...can't wait until I'm less fussy. I'm annoying myself with my high maintenance ways!

ZingSweetPea · 02/12/2013 14:13

yep, I'm grazing too - but what annoys me is that my cravings keep changing.

I keep buying stuff I fancy then the next day just the thought of it makes me feel sick.
I wish there were just one or two things I could rely on to make me feel better - Fanta and KitKat were my staples with DS2 & DS3.

this time - nothing reliable, only random stuff.
so far I have craved parma ham, tropicana, choc milk, mint chocolate, chicken and mushroom pastie, pepsi, ginger ale, cheese on toast, salami, dairy lee slices, ice cream, asparagus, eggs, soup, frozen peas...

can't eat any of them after a day or two. it's ridiculous.
I don't know what to eat anymore.

todays menu - popcorn, cucumbers and bread sticks. Grin

ZingSweetPea · 02/12/2013 14:16

btw I apologise but I NC often - but you'll always recognise me!Smile

I think I'll keep to the theme of roughly how big baby is.Wink

BlueC2 · 02/12/2013 14:17

All well at the scan we could see the heartbeat and measured 7+6 which is exactly what I thought :) DS is at the childminders so I'm now going to have a nap. Oh and DH a bit better so was able to come with me.

On the food front I am snacking a lot to keep nausea at bay. Still not actually been sick which I'm v grateful for but the nagging nauseous feeling is grim. I am also having to force myself to eat as don't really fancy anything!

Casmama · 02/12/2013 14:33

Glad all went well with the scan Blue- enjoy the nap.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 02/12/2013 15:08

Glad scan went well Blue.
Been suffering from nausea all day. Two really bad dry-retching episodes but no real sick. Now I know how bad our cat must feel when he's struggling to bring up a fur ball!

jaykay987 · 02/12/2013 16:11

yay Blue! That's exciting!

I'm on countdown...this time next week my scan will be only a few hours away.

Roll on Tuesday lunchtime (next week!)

AuntieMaggie · 02/12/2013 18:14

MW appointment went well but I feel like I've been hit by a bus - so much to take in! I am feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment :(

I've been referred to an obstetrician (?) because of my medical history, my scan date should be though any day now, I've been prescribed higher dose folic acid and aspirin cos I'm a fatty, done my bloods and got loads to read... did I forget anything?

teaandkittens · 02/12/2013 19:44

hello everyone Smile

how am I still only 7 wks?! And I've only been knowingly pg for less than 2 weeks. When does time start to go quicker??
