Feeling a little better today. Her scan made me a week behind which at just 6 weeks would theoretically just be long enough to maybe see. I've also worked out that if there was definitely nothing there she would have told me to go to the EPU as soon as possible. So I'm crossing my fingers here. It does make a little bit of sense to me that I should be less far along so hopefully that is the case. Also, my bladder was apparently really full and kept getting in the way. The transvaginal scan did show a lovely pregnancy sac in a perfect position with a lovely thick endometrium so I suppose that's all good news whatever the outcome. I'm trying to look at the bright side of all scenarios at the moment. If this is all a cruel trick at least I'll be able to drink beer when I'm in Belgium over Christmas! DH has been lovely. Keeps sending me nice texts when he's at work.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 28/11/2013 07:20

Fingers crossed for you both DoctorDonna and Hayley. Hope everything works out.

Jaykay - I'm aiming to hide it from work for as long as possible too. Not showing yet, but last night we had work drinks + I think a few people were a little suspicious of my "I'm not drinking tonight because I'm not feeling well" (true, I had nausea and a cold!) excuse. Not sure how I'm going to make it through Christmas party season...

baggyoldcow · 28/11/2013 07:21

Hello all, I've been posting on the August thread lately but really I should be on here, as my due date is firmly in July.

Excited to read hayley's news...looks like we are in the same boat! I had an early scan on Tuesday because of pink spotting and I too came up with twins! They are also 5.5 weeks so we're at the same stage. I had no heartbeats either as they're too small so I've got to back in 10-14 days for another scan, but they looked ok, the sonographer said.

I have to say, I'm rather frightened by the thought of a twin pregnancy, and then the resultant 5 children I'll have! Am seeing the ob/gyn this morning for a follow-up and hopefully some reassurance that it's not that bad carrying two...Smile

Pearlsaplenty · 28/11/2013 08:04

doctor sorry to hear you're now in limbo, my fingers are crossed it all works out.

jaykay Grin good to hear you found something to wear! Maternity clothes are a nightmare to find, I've dug my old ones out and hopefully won't need to buy too much this time. Last time I managed without a coat or jeans, which seem the most expensive/ difficult to fit items. I think I will need to buy a swimsuit this time so I can keep swimming with ds, I think that will be a daunting challenge!

Pearlsaplenty · 28/11/2013 08:05

Welcome baggy how exciting twins!! Grin

snowpink · 28/11/2013 08:05

I've given all my mat clothes away because I thought we were done!

snowpink · 28/11/2013 08:08

I had another bleed this morning so feeling very down. Had loads with DS2 and was told I'm miscarrying, then pregnant with twins and then finally a heartbeat! I just don't want all that drama again!! Not sure when to go for another scan, next appointment is not until 23.13.

Pearlsaplenty · 28/11/2013 08:20

snow do you mean 23.12? That is a long time to wait. How many weeks are you?

snowpink · 28/11/2013 08:25

6 weeks today.
I probably go on Monday if I can convince my mum to stay that long so she can look after the kids. I just want a conclusive result; with ds2 they once told me "your womb looks fairly messy". What is that supposed to mean?! But not sure if I'll survive the weekend either without knowing.

Pearlsaplenty · 28/11/2013 08:35

Yes that is a ridiculous things to say to a pregnant woman Hmm can't you go tomorrow if your mum is here now? Over 6 weeks means you should get a scan I thought. Good luck Flowers

LemonLovely · 28/11/2013 09:19

Got my booking appointment yesterday (for 18th Dec) so feeling pleased I'm officially in the system! Expect scan will be in the New Year.

Am 7+5, and having a private scan on day of week 9 as we're meeting in laws that day, and all going well will tell them then. My mum knows, but is sworn to secrecy, but want to tell my dad in person at Xmas.

Had really hoped to be able to tell other people at Xmas (I'm from another country, and so will be home with all my relatives and friends around). Judging from how big I am already though, and the fact I won't be drinking, I'm sure every one will guess!

Starting to wonder if I'm in twin camp too (grandmother was fraternal twin, and FIL is also fraternal twin) as showing much more than I'd expected at this stage. Oh well, a week and a half and I'll find out!!

liquidstate · 28/11/2013 13:51

MIL fortunately understood and since we have had a bereavement in the family this week she is keeping quiet as she knows its not the time to announce it. Am very bloated and anti sick drugs not working so also wondering if I am carrying twins (very common in my mums family).

Have been in bed since yesterday but I have to go shopping as I need clothes for the funeral and an event on Saturday. Nothing fits!

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis · 28/11/2013 14:12

liquid

sorry to hear about family bereavement SadThanks

I hope you can find something to wear.

I was going to post earlier about places to shop for good maternity clothes - H&M is my favourite, Next, Mothercare, Blooming Marvellous are all good too.
once you know your size Ebay is your friend!

also sorry about your sickness - I hope you will be ok at the funeral and generally.

ismarah · 28/11/2013 16:41

I had to have a H&S meeting at uni yesterday where I was all adult and cocky and needed no extra time, thank you!

You know what happened of course. Managed to eat a dodgy sandwich for dinner and gave myself food poisoning! Spent the tensest hour ever driving home at little old lady speeds, every muscle in my body clenched because I was NOT going to be sick on the verge! Miraculously managed to get home, all my bits in the door and straight into the bathroom. DH was nonplussed until it became obvious why...

So spent about 12hrs being violently ill in all possible ways and not sleeping a wink. Then got hold of GP and NHS direct and have drugs! sleep! an appetite!

And a probable mitigating circumstances panel on Monday instead of the assessment I'm supposed to have :-(

My mum's coming over on Wednesday to celebrate my MA with us and I may have nothing to celebrate. Suspect I can soften the blow by telling her about bean - which I wasn't going to do just yet as the woman can't keep a secret to save her life and we'd like to tell both sets of parents at the same time, after scans.

Bean seems to be fine. Suspect bean to be a considerate little bean and quite self-sufficient. I've been nauseous and queasy but no vom yet from bean, which has been good with work deadlines.

mummystein · 28/11/2013 16:45

hi there everyone I am new to the group. Hope everyone is coping well with early pregnancy. It's been an eye opening experience for me so far! xx

DoctorDonnaNoble · 28/11/2013 16:51

So we have symptom progress. Nausea has been worse all day, saliva's gone into overdrive. Just spent 5 mins retching over toilet (tmi - sorry), brought up tiniest bit of sick. Still feel sicky but doesn't seem to be anything to come up. I'm going to see this progression as a good thing - I clearly still have the hormones of a pregnant lady - but please keep fingers crossed and if anyone is that way inclined a few prayers couldn't hurt.
Thanks for the support so far - you lot are great.

AuntieMaggie · 28/11/2013 16:59

ismarah it normally takes a few hours for food poisoning to take hold so it may have been pregnancy related (fil is an expert on the subject due to his job and would look symptoms and stuff in his books when I was ill... so I def won't be able to use that excuse!)

Ok day except having to run for train - why do they only announce the platform 5 mins before departure at paddington?

I've got a family day on Sat...gonna bw hard not to say anything!

snowpink · 28/11/2013 17:03

I will have to leave I'm afraid. I miscarried today at 6 weeks. I wish everyone a good pregnancy and might see you on another thread in the future. This one was a complete surprise but dh and I decided to try actively for a third.

AuntieMaggie · 28/11/2013 17:06

Really sorry to hear that snowpink - take care Flowers

DoctorDonnaNoble · 28/11/2013 17:10
