Hi Everyone
I thought we should have a thread in here as so many of us have now graduated into the antenatal threads. I know that many good friendships have been made and it would be a shame to lose them because we are all due in different months.
So come on sign in!!

PMSL, just had a spam email come from Ediets (or something like that) subject line says:

8 reasons why you're not loosing weight

LOLOLOLOLOL hmmmm, I thought I had got a bit tubby lately...

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 11:40

yeah i get what you mean about your dh. is your hospital very far away from you? (im sure that if there was any sign of anything going worng - which im sure there woont be - your midwife would get you there ASAP)

yeah that description helped a lot...im guessing that its a good sign (for me) that the pains in my stomache are happening low down (they dont seem to be all over anymore). It doesnt sound pleasant nat, have you taken any of the pain killers you were perscribed?

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 11:41

PMSL!!!!!!!! hahaha

and here was me thinking i had wind lol

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 11:51

Well in some ways you would expect that if there were signs of something going wrong, they would be picked up on earlier, and treated with more caution. You think about it, at home you get two midwives to one woman, in a hospital you get one midwife to 2-5 women, and if there was something wrong, the midwife would take you in by ambulance, and would have already rang ahead to get anything that needed sorting that end sorted in time for arrival.

Every contraction you have (no matter where you feel it) is a good sign, it shows everything is getting ready, it shows that you are capable of physically having contractions (less likely to end in a CS because of lack of progress) and every single contraction brings you closer to the baby.

I haven't taken any painkillers yet, I really don't want to, I did manage some sleep last night and if that carries on I can put up with the pain of them, if this home birth idea does take off, I'm going to have to deal with a lot more than I am now!

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 12:04

when you put it like that nat, it makes a home birth sound a damn sight safer than being in the hospital! i think that you need to do what you think is best.

yeah, im getting very impatient now...i just want the baby out and here with me and dh. ive given up being worried about labour and birth now lol

good to hear that you got some sleep last night. I get very tired by about 11, but keep waking up in the night -either to go to the loo or from discomfort and restlessness (is that even a word?lol)

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 12:19

I don't think it is really safer at home, but I don't think it is anywhere near as dangerous as what you would imagine. I suppose there is also the side of being in your own surroundings will help relax you, so therefore it does lead to less intervention which carry risks themselves, i.e. forceps can damage and even crack the babies skull, but a forcep delivery can't be performed at home so there is no risk of the babies head being damaged as a result of that.

There really is no point in worrying about the labour (she says!!) that baby is inside you, some way, some how, she has to come out, it is going to hurt, and it will be messy, but, it has to happen. Once it has happened, I am not going to say you won't remember it because I do, but it isn't where my life ended, if anything it had just begun, and I don't look back on DS's birthdays thinking oh god I was in so much pain or whatever else, I always think more along the lines of he would have been having his first ever feed about now, or that was when we went back up to the maternity unit!

And yes I got to sleep about 2-ish, still woke up for the contractions but went back off pretty much as soon as one finished.

I am going to get some toast or something for lunch, my belly is rumbling away! And I set Sky+ to record that home birth diary thing on Discovery H&H, so I am going to watch that while I eat! I will be back on after though if you are still around?

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 12:31

no probs nat, yeha i'll still be around i think . enjoy your lunch!

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 13:25

Marmite sandwich and a cup of tea - lurverly!!!

I am starting to get pissed off now, my phone hasn't stopped either beeping a text message at me or ringing, I have told everyone I will let them know if anything happens, but do they take any notice? My sister has text 6 times this morning and rang twice, DH I have lost count of, my other sister has text about 4 times. Just how rude can I be by telling them all to leave me the hell alone?!! I wouldn't mind but it can go a week without anyone ringing or texting me normally!!

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 13:36

welcome back lol

ive been sick of phone calls all the time too. a few days ago, i just had to say not to ring me, id ring them (grandparents were being the problem) and not to worry if it went a day without hearing from me. i know they are only doing it because they care, but my god it was getting annoying! lol.

can you just tell them to stop it?or am i just a blunt hormonal cow?lol

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 13:42

I have written 'I will let you know if anything changes' in a text about 7 times today to various different people, they just don't take any notice! I know they are only worried (especially DH being so far away) but for crying out loud, what if I had just managed to nod off to some well needed dream land?!!

There is a song on Kiss right now by Chamillianaire (or something like that) I love it!! LOL

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 13:49

exactly why i ended up being blunt about it lol. maybe put your phone on silent or something and deliberatly ignore it?

are you still getting the contractions? hot baths are meant to help i think...

i hope everyones ok...no one else has posted on here for a while. (i checked out the june antenatal thread to check trace is ok and noticed a few of her posts, so alls well there i think)

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 13:56

Can you imagine the panic if I didn't reply instantaniously?!!

I am sure everyone is OK, most still have a while to go so haven't started maternity leave or whatever, and the endless boredom hasn't set in yet that leads to every single spare minute being spent on MN!!

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 14:00

lol them your landline would be going off the hook

oh yeah thats right. its very dangerous for me with the boredome and being online all the bloddy time...i tend to snack a lot without thinking. i really am dreading the weightloss bit after pregnancy

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 14:04

Actually I haven't been so bad with the snacking as I was with DS, I do get the odd day where all I want is things like strawberry cheesecakes, or apple crumbles, sort of sweet fruity puddings, but I find it very easy to walk down the pudding aisle and only pick one up, so what we haven't got in the house I can't have! If I had a thing about chocolate I would be in trouble!

Have you seen/got/done one of those belly plaster cast things?

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 14:06

Meant to say before as well about the bath, I have been getting in most evenings after DS is in bed, it does help my back (as does a hot water bottle) but it isn't deep enough to cover my belly, so I can't really get the relief on my front.

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 14:11

no, ive not done one of those plaster cast thingies..i have seen them and heard a little about them though. have you done one? i saw a woman have it done on one of the pregnancy programmes

i have to be careful in the bath...i either keep wanting to go to sleep or waste hours in there reading my book lol

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 14:16

I have bought one, but my bump is changing on a daily basis at the moment, I want to leave it as close to the birth as possible, without missing the boat completely, don't know if I should do it now just incase it does happen soon, or gamble and wait for a bit.

I don't think I got out of the bath with my first. We had a huge bath in our house then, easily fitted me and DH in, he used to sit behind me and rub my back in the water, even now I still get almost craving like feelings for that feeling!! LOL It was the only time I felt my back got a complete rest from the weight of the baby!

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 14:26

oooh cool. i dunno what to suggest about when to do it, that 1's entirely as you see fit. they are a good idea i think

think i'll have a bath tonight. dunno y, but i h8 going in the bath when im at home alone. i wait for dh to get home then bugger off to the bath. im reading dan brown's angels and demons (the dude that did the da vinci code) and i highly recommend it (the da vinci code too for that matter, both excellent books) so theres 2 hours of my evening planned for later lol.

im starting to think that maybe in should get some films in this weekend too...ooooh, nanny mcphee is on sky movies on saturday...have u ever seen it?

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 14:27

i keep trying to get dh to back rub as much as i can, but he's a turd and always moans that his arm is tired after about 2 mins :/ so you are a lucky lucky lady lol

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 14:31

Nope not seen that film, but Saturday nights are all fully booked for the telly in this house, it kicks off with DS watching You've Been Framed, which he sits and giggles at while we sit and giggle at him giggling (You will understand why it is so nice to see him giggling away on his own when your DD is a bit older!). Then everything is recorded for after DS is in bed, we start with Ant and Dec (I love them two!!) then X Factor, then Casualty, and then the second bit of X Factor I love Saturday night telly at the moment, it is the only night anything decent is on at the moment!

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 14:40

aaah, lol, your ds really does sound like a gem i cant wait for all of this stuff

ooh, i watch the x factor too...leona (i think thats her name) did that jackson 5 song brilliantly last week! ive never seen nanny mcphee either, but im a complete child when it comes to films like that, so i expect i'll tape it

you know when you have shows? what does it actually mean? (they are the snotty type of dischargy stuff aint they??)

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 14:46

DS can be the most sweetest thing in the world, but he can also be a little bugger!! He is just like his father! I had been trying to not let on to him when I was having a contraction, I didn't want him to think the baby was hurting his mum, but I couldn't help him seeing one last night, and he looked really worried, I was thinking shit, he is going to go off the idea of a brother PDQ now, but he turned round and said I hope it isn't hurting George as well mummy... I nearly cried!!

We love Ben, we think he should win it hands down, but I don't think he will, I also like the 4 lads, is it 4tune or something? I can't stand that Eaton Road group, that lad that they keep saying is beautiful and makes the group special, he makes my skin crawl, he is sooooo skinny, it looks like it hurts him... urgh!!

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 14:51

oooh, isnt ben the one with the rocker sound to his voice and the long hair???

i think its 4sure aint it? i dunno lol. oh god, i dont like eaton road either, but mainly coz the short one looks like an ex of mine lol. The skinny one has better skin than most women do too!

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 14:57

Shit, got to go and get DS, I am late again!! LOL

Will be right back

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 15:01

lol okies no probs, catch u in a bit
