Best of luck feather, thinking of you!

MildredH · 21/11/2013 10:02

Good luck today Feather.. Hope all goes smoothly. Looking forward to seeing your pics x

Chelsealady · 21/11/2013 10:10

Good luck feather!! Your so lucky Hope everything goes well.

Alyssa1978 · 21/11/2013 10:15

mrs just keep the pad on and keep an eye but def mention it to the mw. Could you have an infection? Just with the cramping after a wee, but then again I think baby is that far down now and resting on our bladder that maybe we would cramp a bit after having a wee Hmm
I'm just blabbering now lol.

Ooh feather still so exciting. Gutted I won't see pics of anyone's babies.....damn fb lol Grin

froubylou · 21/11/2013 10:28

Hmmmm

Baby has moved. I am not sure what way though but think he is back to back now. have had some kicks up high under my ribcage too.

And keep having a stabby fanny pain too. Perhaps my little man has decided he doesn't want a sunroof exit.

If he has he has another week of cooking then operation eviction begins lol. DP will be pleased with lots of dtd at least.

Having a very lazy sofa day today. Bliss.

WhisperMen · 21/11/2013 11:23

I wish this baby would stop headbutting me in the fanjo. It made me drop my cup of tea all over me earlier the pain was so sudden and sharp. DP thought I was about to give birth so ran round looking for the notes screaming that we can't give birth here, the baby doesn't have any clothes! haha.

Everyone is a bit happier today after a decent nights sleep. I'm going baby shopping with MIL as she wants to get out and do something other than sitting around moping. I need to find something to wear to the funeral, as i'm not sure rocking up in leggings and a tshirt that asks if anyone has seen my feet is suitable attire.

Hope everyone is all right, I haven't really got time to read back what you have been talking about, so apologies for that. I'll check in a bit later when I get the chance.

PinkWitch803 · 21/11/2013 11:48

Hey whisper tell your DP notcto panic. If I am not mistaken you are currently near my parents' and if you did go into labour you would be sent to my neck of the woods, so I could help you out with stuff :)

I am having quite a lot of discomfort under my bump and I think it is the baby getting comfy. But I have really numb fingers and slightly less numb hands. More my left than right which I think is from the miles of varnishing I have done since last saturday (skirting boards in bedroom and stairs, shelves, bits of banister) and my back is telling me off for standing so much over the last few days. So I am going to try to rest this afternoon now I am back from my last antenatal class and not do any varnishing until the weekend. I have the rest of the banister to do and our new cupboard door in our new bedroom.

But what will be tricky is that by this afternoon, my new wardrobe will be ready to fill and although I can do some, I will have to resist the temptation to do it all!

mumoftwoboysS · 21/11/2013 12:14

Good luck feather very exciting!! not sure when your op is- you may already be holding baby (squeal! so jealous!)

nom think the sling I borrowed was a Moby one actually -soft but thick/supportive stretchy material. Will have a look around or see if there are any on ebay- def found it useful when baby was really small and needed cuddles and I needed to get stuff done/have my hands free!

Rose yes it was me that has had a quick previous labour- I'm nervous about how quick this one will be -yikes. Going to talk to mw next week about it.

Alyssa well I went to bed (I thought I'd rather sleep and if pains wake me up then I'll worry!) Nothing much today- I reckon it's just my body gearing up a bit for labour but still doubt I'll be early. Pain has settled thankfully. I'll try and relax a bit. I have been painting the nursery but decided to ask my bro for help (he lives 20 mins away and hasn't been round for bloody ages- useless!) he said he assumed painting was finished as my mum had been round to help (she's now doing jury duty) but he didn't bother to ask to find out! Just annoys me a bit- he's not got a family and I don't think he understands my lifestyle/family life at all which is fair enough-his life is very different- but he's never asked me how I am since I've been pregnant or come to see the kids much. Oops turned into a bit of a moan, sorry...

anyway waiting to hear news from feather!....

lisbapalea · 21/11/2013 13:08

Very excited to hear news from feather!

I met with the consultant this morning and managed to convey some kind of authoritative decision making (despite feeling like utter jelly on the inside), so I am now booked in for my elcs on 17th December when I will be 39+2.

Am so relieved to have that weight off my mind, but it also does feel quite strange now to have a date in the diary! It does mean I can plan stuff for DD though, so am going to focus on those practicalities for now.

I am still feeling OK (am 35+4) but all of the early signs I keep reading about on this thread do make me realise that my date of 17th Dec might mean nothing at all if the baby decides to come early!!

Hope everyone is doing OK today!

lisbapalea · 21/11/2013 13:09

Just realised my post made it sound like I had got news about feather! I don't - just meant I am looking forward to hearing her news!

Alyssa1978 · 21/11/2013 13:32

Good the pains have settled mum

Congrats on your cs date lisb

Well mw said they not allowed to sweep until you're 5 days late but she will be nice and do it in 2 weeks time at 40+3. That's not nice, nice wouldve been to do it now. Wouldn't check me or anything and was still writing my pains were bh.....no they friggin not, I know the difference lady. This woman has had no kids and this is my third. Arghhhhhhhh breathe Grin

Baby is 2/5ths in my pelvis though do he's gone another 1/5th in since last time so she then said that's what the pains were doing Confused

MildredH · 21/11/2013 13:58

I wish there was a consistent approach- my mw has told me to go to the drop in service on my due date for a sweep ( only when I asked though).

MrsShrubs · 21/11/2013 15:29

Just back from MW, everything's looking good! Asked about the cramping and I don't have a UTI so she said the cramping is Braxton hicks. Baby is 2/5ths engaged too. Got my tour tonight of the birthing centre which I'm looking forward to Smile

Stom91 · 21/11/2013 16:04

Hi all
Saw my hyper mobility consultant the other day an he asked if I was seeing an obstetrician (I should be) I said that I did but he wasn't very nice and told me that hyper mobility doesn't affect pregnancy and was wasting his time.
My consultant says it does affect pregnancy and I should be seeing an obstetrician
So I'm not sure whether to ring my mw and tell her that he said I should be seeing one or to leave it as it's so late on in the pregnancy now ? (I'm 35+5)

What do you think I should do?

BohemianRaspberry · 21/11/2013 16:15

Just back from drop-in MW after a slowing down of movements. Every is good and dandy - he's now fully 3/5 engaged and bang on measurements. Heartbeat strong too, just running out of space - what a relief!

stom i would ask the MW - get referred to the chief MW if need be.

Christmas shopping tomorrow if my waddling can hold up to it!

meandbumpy · 21/11/2013 17:02

Been to see mw today and bumps is 3/5 engaged, which was a surprise as last thursday it was only just hovering.
Had to have a scan though as I'm measuring large, gone totally off the scale, eek! Baby has turned back to back so apparently the measurement could be due to position. Fluid measurement was fine.

I'm joining the aching faloola club!

Good news on the cs lisb

Still time to look into it i reckon stom

LadyMedea · 21/11/2013 17:18

stom can your hyper mobility consultant write to the arsehole obstetrician.... He might respond better to a consultant to consultant approach.....

I had fun and games today with my GP... She is lovely and I don't blame her in the slightest... It's her medical license after all. But we are having problems finding a post baby breastfeeding blood pressure medication. NICE guidelines and breastfeeding network pharmacist say one thing but BNF categorically says don't touch it with a barge pole. Consultant was worse and wanted me to stay on my current drug which makes me feel crap and puts you at risk for PND! Argh!

Stom91 · 21/11/2013 17:31

lady that's a good idea! I wish if ask my consultant how it affected it just so I knew from him not the internet. But I hadn't seen him in a while and had loads to catch up on and I just totally forgot.
How would I get hold of him? I may ask my mw to get in touch xx

great news on getting a date lisb. at least you know what's the max you'll have to deal with which is great.
jealous of all of you with bumps starting to engage. mine is still so high. seeing Dr on Monday so we'll see what he says. but I think she's very comfy in there so I'm not holding my breath. They are doing the strep test Monday so we'll see how that goes.

I'm anxiously awaiting news from feather!

wow i was so tired yesterday I fell asleep in yoga class. on the plus side, we had a networking event last night, and I still fit in my normal trousers (obviously not zipped up, I used a bella band for the bump), but that got me all happy! since starting mat leave, I've been living in yoga pants and leggings so I was pleasantly surprised.

Decided to take it easy today - I have a lot of cooking to do as I want to start prepping meals just in case. But so far I've managed to take a bath and put some clothes on. and just after putting my leggings on I had to sit to take a breather... seriously?! I'm such an active person usually that it is still so weird for me to feel like that.

yesterday, I had about a minute of period pains as I was at the networking thing, but it didn't show up again. but today, my quads are so sore (front of my legs), as if I'd been doing squats all day yesterday?! I mean I did a few squats in yoga but nothing serious - anyone has had that? I would expect pelvic pain if something was to happen, but not quads pain, unless it's referred pain from something up higher. I don't know.

frouby you are lucky with getting to dtd :) my dh hasn't touched me in over 3 months. I think my body scares him a little, and he's still scared of poking the baby in the head (although tbh I'm starting to think it's an excuse). It's ok because he is being extremely sweet and romantic in general, I know he's here for me, but I do miss the 'physical proximity' iykwim

Roselau · 21/11/2013 17:45

oh I meant to ask. I get a breastpump covered with my insurance here (don't be jealous, insurance costs an arm and a leg, so I'm taking advantage of everything I can). I get to chose between:

  • Hygela Q Breast Pump with Tote Bag
  • Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump Shoulder Strap Bag
  • Medela Advanced Personal Double Pump
  • PJ's Bliss Electric Breast Pump

just wondering if anyone has had experience with any of these?? all I know is that 'everyone gets the medela', but is it really better? or is it just marketing?

NomDeClavier · 21/11/2013 18:39

rose I have an Ameda - different model - and I rate it and would recommend it over and above a Medela (who do have very good marketing) every time because it's a closed system pump. That means a) it's good for you to use for subsequent children without worrying it's gone mouldy, b) if you get bastard thrush you can sterilise ALL the bits that have had any kind of contact with milk/that spores could possibly have got to and c) even though it's technically single user you could sell it on.

However if I'd been able to get hold of a Hygela Q I would have gone for that.

extracrunchy · 21/11/2013 19:07

Rose I was going to say the same as Nom re the Medela - it's not a closed system so can't be reused or really properly sterilised.

Roselau · 21/11/2013 19:23

thanks nom and extra
I had never heard of hygeia, I'm worried that it will be harder to get the accessories, but I think I can get them online.

I had not thought of the sterilisation impact...

NomDeClavier · 21/11/2013 19:27

If everything comes with it then you really shouldn't need extra accessories. I use my Ameda with what came in the box and it's just fine. I don't need to replace tubes or anything, although I suppose I ought to check and see whether the little silicon barrier things are still intact and the suction is still good, but they weigh about 2g and postage wouldn't be exorbitant.
