Having not felt pregnant since finding out, of course I have wonderful nausea at 6 weeks. Properly helped by being in a foreign country where they eat chilli soup for breakfast
Congrats on all the scannage, my first mw appt is the 8th jan!

SinkyMalinks · 22/12/2013 09:31

Al! Good to see you... Wondered when you'd show your face! Glad all is going smoothly. Do you have a scan date yet?

As for nausea, I wasn't too bad, but found stodge the best - mashed potatoes, plain noodles, McDonald's Blush. Not great in June, but surely easy in dec? (But avoid chili soup for the next 7-8 months - my reflux went crazy after a spicy pulled pork soup...)

FrankelInFoal · 22/12/2013 10:09

Yes yes to carbs for the nausea. Good to see you in here Ginge

Right, we need a Nokks update! How are you doing young lady?

OP posts:
Nokkie73 · 22/12/2013 10:37

Slopes/waddles in munching on some toast. Sits down whilst making old lady noises. Shouts 'WASSUP' in frankel's ear. Grin

Nuffink to see here ladies. Not yet, anyway.....

Hello ginge. Have we met ? Congrats on the diffage. X

MyNameIsWinkly · 22/12/2013 11:19

Yes to stodge bit try to go easy on it if at all possible, or you'll end up like me. HWCA and someone at work think I'm starting to show, but I know it's just a crisps baby :( My poor pfb will have to be called Walker or McCoy at this rate.

Nokkie73 · 22/12/2013 11:20

Ducks

May I get Christmas Day out of the way first ? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease ? tempts fate massively

MyNameIsWinkly · 22/12/2013 11:22

Oooh yes hang on another week and a bit and go for the first delivery of 2014!

Nokkie73 · 22/12/2013 11:56

Oh yeah. I could be in the papers, all sweaty and red faced after pushing out the nipper at one second past midnight. crosses legs and shoves a cork up the foof until lunchtime on 1st January

FrankelInFoal · 22/12/2013 13:29

Glad all is well on mini-Nokks Watch, I shall be needing regular updates - I'm relying on you to report back that Lazy Daisy classes = guaranteed sneeze birth

OP posts:
Nokkie73 · 22/12/2013 14:00

Don't ruin the Daisy Bubble franks Wink

I really hope it does help with that sneeze birth.....even if it doesn't and they have to intervene a bit more (induction or section) I really feel like the breathing techniques will help me to stay calm and centered. The classes have certainly helped me to feel positive about the birth. Of course I am anxious about it to a certain extent, because I want the baby to be ok and come out safely. But the classes have have definitely stopped me from totally dreading the birth (i'm actually looking forward to it weirdo). After the agony of ttc, the last thing I wanted to do was spend another nine months of my life going bonkers. For that, spending money on the Daisy classes has been worth every penny. How are you finding them ? Enjoyed it so far ?

FriendofDorothy · 22/12/2013 14:09

Who is GingerScouse or have I missed something?

SinkyMalinks · 22/12/2013 15:15

Can we say your old name ginge? I think the clue she gave last time was a welsh male name (or something...)

Caveat - am rubbish a clues, esp when I don't know if it was a strategic name change...

FrankelInFoal · 22/12/2013 15:26

I've finished my course now Nokks, but I'm doing another one starting in January. We're also doing the couples workshop in early Feb. I've found it really good and totally agree with the feeling a bit more chilled about things.

My BF came round earlier and told me she's 13wks with #2 Grin. Her little boy is 14 months so it'll be a close age gap.

FriendofDorothy · 22/12/2013 17:11

Erm... no, still don't know!

MyNameIsWinkly · 22/12/2013 20:45

When did you book your antenatal classes frank? I was thinking of registering for the nct one soon, in case it gets full, but maybe it's too early.

HWCA hasn't half annoyed me today Angry Also I am tired, have a sore throat, and don't want to go to work tonight, even if it is only for a few hours. To be fair to HWCA, I suspect I am easily annoyed because of the above.

FrankelInFoal · 22/12/2013 20:52

I booked mine at about 16 weeks but didn't start them till I was 22 weeks, they run in blocks of 6 weeks and don't overlap, so if I hadn't started them then I'd be waiting until the January session because there are none running through December.

OP posts:
evilgiraffe · 22/12/2013 20:53

I was wondering that today too, winks. I think classes are something that the midwife will talk about at the 16-week appt (3rd Jan, where did the time go?!), so we will probably have a proper look in the new year. I get the impression that there are lots on though

FrankelInFoal · 22/12/2013 21:00

I highly recommend the Lazy Daisy classes if anyone fancies them. I found they were a third of the price of the NCT classes and the response from the LD lady was much more friendly and welcoming than the local NCT.

You can find if there's a local Lazy Daisy class here

OP posts:
evilgiraffe · 22/12/2013 21:11

What's the difference in content/approach, Frank? I'm totally non-woo but very much hoping for a birthing pool or at least to avoid lying on my back at all costs. I find even the idea of stirrups abhorrent. So, info on "natural" birth welcomed, but I couldn't give a crap about surrounding that with woo and yoga...

SinkyMalinks · 22/12/2013 21:12

I'm doing nct. I looked at 18weeks ish and i had loads of choice. Waited till after 20 scan to book and managed to get the last place on the last course any where near me (although further away than the " loads" of courses I saw the time before!). I'd say book soon!

MyNameIsWinkly · 22/12/2013 21:20

Just had a look at the Lazy Daisy website - the only classes within reach of me are in an area I cover with work and not one where I would like to attend on a personal basis, especially heavily pregnant. There is also hypnobirthing near-ish me, but I don't know about the 'emotional and spiritual aspects of birth' - I just want it out as easily as possible! NCT it is, I think. The May/June births course near me isn't until early April, so I will start a 6 week pregnancy pilates course after Christmas.

I just had a massive snotty, sobbing, coughing fit at HWCA. I feel like shite and I'm not going to work tonight. Sod it. I'm not doing anything useful there at the moment anyway.

FrankelInFoal · 22/12/2013 21:22

The approach is very focused on breathing and giving you exercises to help through pregnancy and birth. A lot of it is sort of yoga based, but it makes sense IYSWIM. Things like stretches to help with fluid retention, positions to get into to help with contractions, or just general discomfort.

It's very non-judgey, it doesn't pressure you to go one way or the other, it just gives you options to play with.

Dor I used to be alwyn, NC because I use it everywhere and it would out me immediately.

No scan date yet, won't know anything until after 8th Jan appt. Think this baby's going to look like a Pringle, it's one of the only things I can stomach atm!

And I'd never heard of the Lazy Daisy classes before. Luckily there's one starting up where I live!

FriendofDorothy · 23/12/2013 06:02

Ahhh ok. I didn't realise you we're pregnant. How many weeks are you and what's your due date?
