Ice thanks for that. That's what I imagined. It seems like most of the heat just goes up the chimney with ours and with DH being away all week, I just can't be arsed with it. And it's bloody cold in here, what with the gaping holes in the walls and all. And have had dinner already and had to have peanut butter on toast after reading your post! Such willpower. Baby demanded it. Dog was happy with the crusts too.
Congratulations Pain!
Super The one I did was Hypnobirthing - Mongan method, which was American (I was overseas at the time) but I think it started off in the UK. There is an institute here and I got the CDs from here too so lovely soothing voices. I highly recommend them even if you don't do the course. It's like being pampered. Forgot to add last time, one thing they go on about is surrounding yourself with positive language and stories. I still called them contractions and I did say the word 'pain' but I wholeheartedly agree with only listening to good stories. People are so happy to share bad experiences with you, and I know it's good to talk about these things but there's a time and a place. And telling a 36-week pregnant woman all about your extremely traumatic birth (won't go into the details) is not on. I've got three nice ones to blather on about so let me know if you need to hear something good!
Cookie Yep, the drugs, but not medical ones - the almighty high you get with the adrenalin/endorphins. It's like nothing else. I didn't have any drugs (super-crunchy, non?) mainly because I didn't know the right word in the language of the country I was in...doh. And then with the others there just didn't seem much point. I think that helped - I felt like Tarzan, but a tad more feminine. Might not have looked it though.
Oh good grief, John Lewis ad's just come one. Anyone else sob? S'cuse the snot.
