lumpylumps · 10/11/2013 20:01

I had tinned tomatoes, bacon and fried egg on toast with hot mince pie and cream for pud. It was bloody lovely and I might have to have another mince pie!!

Pelvis is horrendous! I'm going to have to ring the physio tomorrow. I honestly don't know how I'm going to physically get through the next 16 weeks.

PainAuxRaisins · 10/11/2013 20:16

Just whizzing on to update with my scan news from Friday - we're joining team BLUE!!! Now off to FB to catch up with you all properly and see what everyone's been up to xxx

apprenticemamma · 10/11/2013 20:17

we had roast chicken roasties and turnip carrot mash turned out pretty tasty. Work long days mondays so we will all polish off the remnants tomorrow and since its such a mahoosive chicken might have to convert into chicken casserole.

baking there's a girl on facebook (sorry I can't remember which meg is) who has got an amazing disney mural going on in her nursery ..shamed and inspired me onwards and upwards.

I'm contemplating a sickie tomorrow, will this excuse wash (pardon the pun) 'dear boss, I cannot come in today because my chesty cough results in pissing, puking, crying and or bump pain..I will stay at home and do my kegels and drink hot lemon till I can hold my piss in...' Shock Wink

apprenticemamma · 10/11/2013 20:32

re the earlier discussion despite the pg yoga I alternated the 'golden thread' breathing with screaming like a stuck pig and swearing like a navvie until I was dosed up on pain relief. Dh dared to come near me with a tens machine which I nearly hurled accross the delivery suite at him. It felt good.. So I'm not saying I'm going to yogurt weave my way thru the birth and I'm a firm advocate in a good swearing session alsoSmile ..just that I lurve pg yoga (must work harder on them kegels though!)

nighty night

BionicEar · 10/11/2013 20:56

Congrats Pains on finding out that you are having a boy.

Quite a few people still think we secretly know the sex of Burpy, and have tried to catch us out a few times. Good luck to them as we honestly have no idea!

Had bad fall on Fri thanks to inconsiderate dog owner who allowed their dog to foul on end of driveway to our house. I skidded on it and went flying landing awkwardly and smacking side of bump. Got checked out at the day assessment unit and Burpy thankfully is fine. I'm however am still in a lot of pain when moving around or sitting for too long. Think will see if I can see GP tomorrow as need some painkillers for it, as paracetamol is not really touching it. Sad

Had DS party on Sat. That went well, though was in agony by end of it. My lovely DH and friends were very good and did much of the running around sorting games etc and helping to clear up.

Right off to bed in bit as very tired. Hope you all have a good week.

Slippersandacuppa · 10/11/2013 21:09

Ice thanks for that. That's what I imagined. It seems like most of the heat just goes up the chimney with ours and with DH being away all week, I just can't be arsed with it. And it's bloody cold in here, what with the gaping holes in the walls and all. And have had dinner already and had to have peanut butter on toast after reading your post! Such willpower. Baby demanded it. Dog was happy with the crusts too.

Congratulations Pain!

Super The one I did was Hypnobirthing - Mongan method, which was American (I was overseas at the time) but I think it started off in the UK. There is an institute here and I got the CDs from here too so lovely soothing voices. I highly recommend them even if you don't do the course. It's like being pampered. Forgot to add last time, one thing they go on about is surrounding yourself with positive language and stories. I still called them contractions and I did say the word 'pain' but I wholeheartedly agree with only listening to good stories. People are so happy to share bad experiences with you, and I know it's good to talk about these things but there's a time and a place. And telling a 36-week pregnant woman all about your extremely traumatic birth (won't go into the details) is not on. I've got three nice ones to blather on about so let me know if you need to hear something good!

Cookie Yep, the drugs, but not medical ones - the almighty high you get with the adrenalin/endorphins. It's like nothing else. I didn't have any drugs (super-crunchy, non?) mainly because I didn't know the right word in the language of the country I was in...doh. And then with the others there just didn't seem much point. I think that helped - I felt like Tarzan, but a tad more feminine. Might not have looked it though.

Oh good grief, John Lewis ad's just come one. Anyone else sob? S'cuse the snot.

mrsksays · 10/11/2013 21:18

Got told off by DH for "starting" this evening just because I said we probably wouldn't be getting a bugaboo despite his sister insisting beyond all discussion that they are the best things since sliced bread at lunch today.

I don't give a rats arse which pram she's getting (I wasnt "starting" i.e making it a competition) we'll be getting the one that suits us best - and we don't have unlimited piles of money to splash on ours like they do.

apprenticemamma · 10/11/2013 21:24

Mrs k , that's galling and you've a right to be hacked off. I can recall v similar discussions and vibes with sil. It's not a time for oneup(wo)man ship. Each to their own and my good friend got a bugaboo but personally I think many would find spending £1k hard to justify...could get a proper set of wheels for that Wink !

CookieDoughWhore · 10/11/2013 21:26

Hurrah! We had sex! Finally! It was naughty and rampant, too, made all the more erotic (for DP) by my new cute nursing bra. He went bloody nuts for my nips in that! Grin

mrsksays · 10/11/2013 21:49

apprenticemamma I don't know much about prams but from Which (which I base all my large retail decisions on!) and asking loads of people not one have recommended a Bugaboo except people with money to chuck around. I don't want to get into one upmanship but mostly I just want to have the chance to make my own decisions about my own firstborn child and not be in her shadow or be compared to everything she does. I didn't get involved in the discussion at lunch I just let her say as FACT that bugaboos are the best prams.

I'm leaning towards a baby city jogger because it suitable from birth but also like the look of the icandy peach because it has the option of turning into a tandem for the future.

Actually question about prams - doesn't seem worthwhile buying a carrycot/bassinet - am I right? Surely only needed for 6 months tops. And can you use a pushchair as a travel system with the maxi cosy car seat from birth?

mrsksays · 10/11/2013 21:53

Oh and congrats on your sexy time cookiedough I feel this is the best time for us lot for sex - is gonna get more awkward from here on on!

Rockchick1984 · 10/11/2013 22:30

Yay Cookie!!!

Mrskay you shouldn't keep a newborn in a car seat for more than an hour or so at a time, so not really suitable instead of a carry cot. You can get some prams where the seat unit is suitable from birth I've ordered the Graco Evo which is fine from birth for a newborn, the bugaboo bee is, and I think some of the baby joggers are - which model are you considering? I love the icandy peach but its soooo expensive - same price as the top of the range bugaboo!

OwlinaTree · 10/11/2013 22:38

mrskay I'm no expert but I don't think you are supposed to leave them too long in the car seat to start with.
Me and DH were going to get a Phil and Ted buggy to start with as it goes into a double and iirc the seat altered between a bassinet and a pushchair. Sadly it was too big for the car boot!

Might be worth a look?

mrsksays · 10/11/2013 22:47

Either the City Mini GT or the City Select. You're right about the iCandy Peach... I'm off to bed. Buggies are exhausting!

IceNoSlice · 10/11/2013 23:36

C

IceNoSlice · 10/11/2013 23:40

Try again!

Congrats PainAux! Another boy Grin

Bionic aw love that sounds painful. Do go to the docs if you're sore, no medals for suffering in silence. Inconsiderate dog owner, grrr.

Slippers peanut butter is ace, right?

MrsK well done for not letting her get a reaction from you at lunch. And nil points to DH for misunderstanding. Get the pram you bloody well want, not what someone else reckons is the dogs!

Nighty night all. Back to work for me tomorrow after a week off. It's going to be a really busy one

CookieDoughWhore · 11/11/2013 00:22

Slippers, I'm with you regarding others' horror stories when I am close to giving birth myself. They can kindly keep a fucking sock in it. Similarly, I don't want to hear some smug tart telling me how she squeezed her 10lb baby out in two hours of heavenly bliss punctuated only by her warbling 'kumbaya my lord'. Childbirth has become so bloody fetishised; it all makes me rather cross.

CookieDoughWhore · 11/11/2013 00:22

Do you think Phil and Ted are gay?

CookieDoughWhore · 11/11/2013 00:24

The only thing that makes me cry about John Lewis is its prices.

apprenticemamma · 11/11/2013 07:17

cookieevery time I hear phil and ted I think of bill and teds excellent adventure !

Hauling self to workSad . The coughing and incontinence has settled un peu. Would love a duvet day. Sad

CalltheMadwife · 11/11/2013 07:46

Phil and Ted are father and son as far as I know

We're going for Phil and Ted with the cocoon for 1st few months for laying flat x

LyraSilvertongue · 11/11/2013 08:05

Same here, Apprentice. I loved that silly film Grin

Great news on the shag, Cookie. Is it the first since conception?

OP posts:
lumpylumps · 11/11/2013 08:50

I managed to find a bargain 2nd hand Icandy peach!!

cookie I'm with you with the horror birth stories. It's like we all have a sign on us saying I'm pregnant feel free to totally freak me out!!! Luckily I have had 2 fantastic births and loved both of them. Even the pain!! I especially loved the gas and air!!! I was gutted when I thought I'd never experience it again!!
And yay for the shag!! I did too although I think that'll probably be the last one till after the baby's born, I spent the rest of the day in absolute agony with my pelvis!!

CookieDoughWhore · 11/11/2013 09:03

Lyra, no, not the first since conception! The first since we moved house two weeks ago. It felt like a long time, though, as his libido appeared to have vanished entirely. I was used to pleasuring him almost nightly until we moved (I didn't want any nipple or clitoral attention whatsoever) and then he suddenly became some kind of eunuch.

Hottie, did I thank you for that link you sent me via fb during my sabbatical from the thread? Really kind of you, thank you.

I'm off for a foetal heart scan this morning to check there are no heart defects caused by my being on antidepressants until recently. Can't wait to see my gorgeous baby again. Mum's coming too Smile

CookieDoughWhore · 11/11/2013 09:06

Lumpy, how is your FIL? Your attitude towards pain is astonishing; how anyone can find it pleasurable is boggling. I do believe it is down to personality and thresholds how we deal with childbirth and pain.
