I've finally caved, and inflated my birth ball. Hips and back were killing me, but sooooo much better sat on there than on the sofa! Although far more challenging balancing on it with a curious toddler trying to play with it than it was last time Hmm

CookieDoughWhore · 10/11/2013 14:48

Lyra, obscene in the same way my Space Hopper horn nipples are obscene.

LyraSilvertongue · 10/11/2013 14:55

So many things are obscene during pregnancy. I'm sure I enjoyed being pregnant the first two times. Not this time. Can't wait for it to be over.

OP posts:
CookieDoughWhore · 10/11/2013 14:59

My pregnancy flatulence is obscene, my new pregnancy lesbian haircut is obscene, my new hormone-driven profane language is obscene, my hormone-related fantasies are obscene and my pregnancy-related obsession with the True Movies channel is obscene.

CookieDoughWhore · 10/11/2013 15:01

..also, the trail snail of snot on my sleeve in church last Sunday was obscene. That was pregnancy-related, too, 'cos I couldn't be arsed squeezing my behemoth of a bump past several worshippers to go and get bog roll.

Slippersandacuppa · 10/11/2013 15:06

Afternoon all. Sorry, again. In fact, here's a massive sorry on advance for the next few months, you poor neglected fellow Martians, you. There's no time! How the flip is it going to work after March? I've achieved something when I've made the packed lunches the night before! But I do love it really. Have caught up more or less, sorry to hear you've been left with no answers pirates limbo is so hard. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Lumpy sorry to hear about your FIL.

On the subject of birth, I am a bit of a crunchy type, sorry Cookie - veggie, no leather (ooh err), etc and I do describe my births as magical, calm (mostly) and beautiful. But they bloody hurt! I did the hypnobirthing course with DS1 and I have to say I completely agree with you. I went into it believing that if I did all the preparation, I'd have a pain-free birth. Balls to that. After about two hours if mild, early labour contractions, I stopped all that and figured out my own way to breathe through the 'waves', which I then did for the next two births as well. It would have been nice to have thought about that a little more beforehand, instead if the 'bugger, what do I do now'- moment but there's no room for doubt in hypnobirthing. That said, it made a big diffrrence knowing what was happening physically, and the tracks really helped me sleep in the last weeks. It was a bonus being so relaxed too. And I enjoyed them all.

We're having our windows draught-proofed, which involves at least two windows at a time bring taken out. Lovely and warm round ours. Any opinions on log burners? We have an open fire but are considering changing (if there's ever enough money) if it's worth it?

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Half way there...cripes!

Slippersandacuppa · 10/11/2013 15:07

Of not if twice, obviously.

CookieDoughWhore · 10/11/2013 15:21

Slippers, great to hear from you. Which part of the birth was magical? And how so? Was it the bit with drugs?

SuperMuddle · 10/11/2013 15:37

I'm a bit of a crunchy type too; I'm not a full on yoghurt-weaver, but am interested in hypnobirthing and am doing preg yoga. I am fully expecting birth to be the most painful experience of my life, but will feel calmer about it if I go into it with some coping mechanisms. slippers, is hypnobirthing the British one? I know that natal hypnotherapy and hypnobirthing are the same thing but on different sides of the Atlantic, and I want to make sure I get a DVD from the right side. I don't find American accents very relaxing!

CookieDoughWhore · 10/11/2013 15:39

I thinking swearing is a stupendous way of coping.

SuperMuddle · 10/11/2013 15:45

Oh, me too, cookie. I'd like to find a calm, relaxed, at one with my labour way of shouting 'shittingfuckyarsebollocksyoubastard' at the top of my lungs.

Facetious? Moi?

IceNoSlice · 10/11/2013 15:45

Slippers we have a log burner and my parents have an open fire (the house I grew up in). IMO, log burners cause less dust, use less wood and are just as cosy so long as you get a good sized window in the door. So I think it's worth it.

CookieDoughWhore · 10/11/2013 15:54

Catherine Wheel Cobbler for tea.

CookieDoughWhore · 10/11/2013 15:58

Can anyone tell me if I need to stick to cannellini beans for the above recipe or will baked beans do?

BakingEating · 10/11/2013 18:01

Aww thanks Apprentice, get yourself straight to your local haberdashery/ hobby craft/ architectural salvage!

Cookie I've messaged Lyra about the Facebook group, so I'll be there soon.

I noticed my belly button has been getting shallower when I was in the bath last week. It'll be so strange when it pops out. Hope mine goes 'ding dong' too Smile

LyraSilvertongue · 10/11/2013 18:02

You'd have to rinse the sauce off and they'd probably turn to mush very easily.

LyraSilvertongue · 10/11/2013 18:02

Sorry Baking, I didn't see your pm. I'll sort it when I'm on the laptop later.

OP posts:
BakingEating · 10/11/2013 18:05

I reckon baked beans would be fine Cookie but I'd cut back on the muscavado sugar to compensate

BakingEating · 10/11/2013 18:07

No rush Lyra, just whenever you get time

CookieDoughWhore · 10/11/2013 18:24

Thanks, ladies. What are you all having for tea (or dinner, if you're posh)?

IceNoSlice · 10/11/2013 18:33

Just did roast chicken, yum. Cheated on the trimmings though - most were out of the freezer Wink

MummyPig24 · 10/11/2013 18:59

I don't know what's for dinner. Kids had boiled eggs and soldiers. I'm going foraging in the freezer.

My belly button is still an innie and I suspect it will always be.

I'm absolutely knackered, pelvis sore, nipples infuriatingly itchy and sore.

LyraSilvertongue · 10/11/2013 19:13

I took the boys swimming and bought them a kids meal each there. I've just had two croissants with melted cheese inside. Not your traditional Sunday dinner.

LyraSilvertongue · 10/11/2013 19:31

I ate a third and it was too much. Bleurgh.

IceNoSlice · 10/11/2013 19:58

Oh Lyra that sounds amazing!

We ate at 5 so we could eat with DS (we eat after he's gone to bed during the week, and I like us all to sit down together as much as poss at the weekend). That was 3 hours ago so I can eat again, right? Peanut butter and jam toastie I think!
