New thread, hoes!

I've just had a load of baby food donated to me (my work sells food). Unfortunately it will go off before the baby is old enough to eat it. Think I'm gonna chow down...

PiratesMam · 07/11/2013 14:33

I'm on about a stone weight gain so far I think. Mind you I have been comfort eating a lot over the last week, so it might be more now!! I've lost it v quickly both times before with the breast feeding though so hoping the same will happen this time. I am such a salad dodger!

SuperMuddle · 07/11/2013 14:42

Hello! Had my scan this morning, we are having a very healthy baby, flavour to be determined at birth. We managed to resist the urge to find out (which was really really hard), but we're glad we did. We bought a gorgeously soft toy bunny afterwards because we could Grin and DH has a celebratory beer in the fridge for later.

I actually feel I can start to look forward to this now; I didn't realise just how much I had been 'holding back' till I was told everything is normal and progressing as it should.

FoxMulder · 07/11/2013 15:15

Congratulations Muddle! Great news! Grin

Know what you mean about the 'holding back' feeling. I'm just starting to get excited now!

MummyPig24 · 07/11/2013 16:50

Good news super. I can relate to the feeling of holding back. I was very worried something was going to be wrong so I didn't let myself get excited or buy anything. Now I know the baby is healthy I can look forward to him or her arriving.

My opposite neighbours are child minders and have given us a microwave steriliser and bouncy chair. The steriliser is great, perfect condition and similar to the one I had before so that's going to be useful. We already have a chair but we are going to keep this one at the in laws to use there.

I haven't made any purchases yet.

CookieDoughWhore · 07/11/2013 17:44

Foxy, your yoga post made me laugh when you said you hadn't been anywhere where you were relaxed and at one with everything! Ha! You clearly haven't been to Blackpool and lain on the sands in July amongst all the scumbags and dog turd.

Jolls, 7lbs is fuck all and I'd appreciate it if you kept that kind of news to yourself Sad I've gained 24lbs already.

Had my consultant appointment today and was armed with gavel and combative attitude (I'll bet you can't imagine me combative, eh?) The doc was lovely and agreed that, as long as my pregnancy progresses as well as it has been doing, I can birth at the MLU. She still rabbitted on about their policy of inducing older women at 40 weeks, but I shook my head and looked stern and that was enough to shut her up. She tried to tell me that, for women over 35, the placenta at 40 weeks presents as it would do at 42 weeks for a woman under 35. I think this is largely bullshit so I will fight induction every step of the way if I and the baby are well.

Did anyone see the Daily Mail yesterday and that gorgeous little disabled girl who is the star model for Boden? I'll bet parents of disabled children everywhere were heartened at that story. Brilliant and about time

CookieDoughWhore · 07/11/2013 17:48

Pirate's, had you noticed I swept your beautiful Victorian path while you were away? You're welcome.

CookieDoughWhore · 07/11/2013 17:58

Did you hear about the bloke with five penises? His underpants fit him like a glove.

Jolleigh · 07/11/2013 18:24

Thanks everyone for sharing your weight gain...I wasn't sure what's normal but the link that Rock posted is brilliant.

And Cookie - I'm a chunkster before the pregnancy...you're a teeny thing so I'd be worried if you'd gained hardly anything.

CookieDoughWhore · 07/11/2013 18:31

Jolls, where in fuck's eternal name did you get that I am a 'teeny thing'? I'm not, honest, but have never been fat either;I was a size 12 before IVF. Thanks for momentarily allowing me to think of myself as Kylie Minogue, though Smile

Chippy tea tonight: chips, sausage and gravy with two slices of Warburtons white toastie council estate bread slathered in butter. Get in!!

LyraSilvertongue · 07/11/2013 18:33

Council estate bread?! Grin I wonder why they don't use that as their advertising slogan.

OP posts:
CookieDoughWhore · 07/11/2013 18:56

Yeah, Lyra, Warburtons white toastie bread is only consumed by scumbags like me. Folks like you eat Whole Foods' Peruvian Sesame infused with Alpaca testicles or summat.

LyraSilvertongue · 07/11/2013 19:21

We're not a posh bread household. The boys like wholemeal or seedy bread but I was brought up on sliced white and white crusty bloomers. Nowt better than a white crusty bloomer with sesame seeds on top.

MummyPig24 · 07/11/2013 19:21

I've gained 7lbs now. Sausages, mash, red cabbage, broccoli and gravy for tea. It was delicious.

Dh has to go to Spain in a few weeks for work. He will be gone a week, I think I will be a bit lonely. I know lots of people have husbands who work away a lot but I'm used to dh being with me each night and will miss him. The kids will miss him too.

Jolleigh · 07/11/2013 19:39

I love warbies toasty. Nowt better for a pie sandwich (the thought of which now makes me slightly queasy Sad ).

And compared to me Cookie you're a teeny thing.

April13 · 07/11/2013 19:57

Jealous of all your dinners! I had a big bowl of hot cornflakes with sugar in top and a pint of full fat milk......I'm such a classy burd Wink

PiratesMam · 07/11/2013 20:05

DH is making chicken korma yum yum yum Smile The kids went to a party this afternoon and I ate a shed load of chicken nuggets. I have a serious salt craving at the moment.

My bloody blood test results are still not back!Angry if I'd not had that extra scan yesterday (the privilege of which we paid for), I'd be shitting bricks by now. Why does it take so long?!

Cassiopeia01 · 07/11/2013 20:52

For dinner tonight I had a bag of salt and vinegar chopsticks (bad) , meatballs and spaghetti , Caesar salad (good) and fruit salad. God love marks and spencer... Let's just ignore the quantity of carbs though Grin am stuffed.

Beccadugs · 07/11/2013 21:05

Hi all!

I've put on about a stone, feeling like a whale though, and just tried in my bridesmaid dress and I do not look good.

I have been having a bit of a crap time to be honest. I have SPD, and I had a "bile attack" last night. I used to have gall stones and had my gall bladder out last year. I now have to have liver function tests. Just feeling fed up really!

Jolleigh · 07/11/2013 21:54

Why do you need liver function tests Becca - never heard of someone needing that after a gall bladder removal? (11 years without mine so I feel for you on the bile front)

Beccadugs · 07/11/2013 22:06

I don't know Joll! Have you had any pain since your removal?

I think they are worried that my liver might not be working properly and this is affecting my bile ducts and causing the pain. Something to do with liver creating the bile in the first place.

Jolleigh · 07/11/2013 22:15

Loads Becca! In pretty much the same place but not quite as severe and I'm just about able to move, unlike when it was still there. It's always when I have an empty stomach or if I've had too much acid without a decent meal before (including alcohol). My docs were shockingly bad at the time (they told me for 6 months that I had chronic indigestion before they agreed to do anything to diagnose me) and I ended up doing my own research. It's remarkably common. Seems to be because your body sends bile directly to the stomach, so there's sometimes digestive juices in there but bugger all to digest other than your stomach.

My trick when it starts up is downing as much milk as possible. (just check it's not off first...you only make that mistake once Sad )

Jolleigh · 07/11/2013 22:20

Also, low GI carbs are your friend...they are slow to digest so stick around longer.

Starch and dairy are a bit controversial as I'm overweight, but I'd rather be overweight than in horrendous pain and they both help.

But I've learned to avoid yoghurt as it gives me indigestion since. That could just be me though.

Beccadugs · 07/11/2013 22:34

So glad it's not just me! Usually i just cry til it passes, but got in a flap in case it might affect the baby. it wont as long as liver is OK! Yes to low GI and veg/non citrus fruits work too.

Too much dairy really sets me off, but mashed potatoes (and I assume unmashed) are a winner post attack!

Mine was undiagnosed for TEN years, apparently I had anxiety attacks... Hmm

Jolleigh · 07/11/2013 22:45

They're daft when it's someone young. I had stomach pain as young as 9 (they suspected period pains at first...I obviously wasn't great as describing location). Then 'IBS' at 11...I'm now convinced this is the fail safe for when a doctor can't be arsed working out what's wrong. Then at 13 it was chronic indigestion (cue huge bottles of ghastly gaviscon). Right up until mum wanted to proove I was doing it to get out of school. Insisted on a scan when I was 14. By which point removal was the only option as I had 19 of the fuckers.

RE dairy...it used to set off an attack pre-op, but post-op it's my best friend. In fact, dairy is likely to have been the cause of my issue.
