February 2014. The cake mix is in the mug, the microwave is on, it's slowly rising and we'll be pinging in three more months!

Sadly my cake mix is rising too much and resulting in a serious muffin top.

Ah, baby is making up for all the pain it's causing me by moving lots today after a week of hardly any movements. seeing my bump move is fab Smile

LovesToBake · 31/10/2013 11:51

I'm trying to accept it too. I have no choice but to eat when I need to, and thankfully my pattern seems to be multiple breakfasts, a fairly hearty (but healthy) lunch and then a lighter supper like homemade vegetable soup or pasta. With DS I put on exactly 2.5 stone and at this rate I could easily put on more with this pregnancy but I know I lost it all afterwards last time and I can do it again!

LovesToBake · 31/10/2013 11:52

A question for multi-mums: do you think there is a correlation between wriggly-ness in the womb and activity levels in the baby/child when they're out? I'm sure I used to get booted so much more with DS and he's a very busy little chap, has never been a big fan of sleeping and is generally on the go all the time. Is it wishful thinking to hope that this baby is going to be much more chilled and keen on sleep based on less vigorous movements at the moment?!

marzipanned · 31/10/2013 12:34

I'm in the accepting camp too. Like others of you if I don't eat then I am sick. Breakfast this morning was two waffles, a bowl of muesli, a grapefruit, OJ, a yogurt, two slices of toast plus scrambled eggs! This was a particularly hungry morning though.

Unfortunately I'm not eating healthily for the remainder of the day, particularly at the mo as we're living in a hotel...

It's funny...I've never been chubby in my life and I admitted last night to DH that I am a bit nervous about it, not so much an aesthetic thing as I hate feeling unfit, but hey ho. It (and everything else) will be worth it! I've gained about 10lbs so far (net - lost about 10lbs in first tri) and I suspect there's a lot more to come in the ensuing weeks.

Loves I did read that re busy in the womb busy in the world on another thread. Interested to hear what people say!

tinypolkadot · 31/10/2013 12:43

Hope you’re feeling better this morning champagne

So, we looked at some uppababy alternatives yesterday and the conclusion was that DH didn’t like the baby jogger and the Graco Evo was far too small for him. We did however get a look at the mothercare Xpedior and were quite impressed, good for tall people and comes with all the accessories including car seat, foot muff, rain cover etc for £250 I’m failing to find a bad review online (although it is quite new) so I’m seriously considering it. Anyone else had a look at it?

Another one who eats more than one breakfast here. Our canteen serves cooked brekkie at 10am for cheap and it’s hard to resist!

bugsyburge · 31/10/2013 12:45

morning all, I've desperately been trying to catch up!!!

thanks for all the bf/ff info... that had been really useful

regarding rib pain I have it too. I used to get it occasionally pre pregnancy if I ate a big meal and remained sat down for a while afterwards but now I have it.pretty much from as soon as I wake up until I go to sleep... always in the same place on the right hand side. I asked the midwife & she said to see the doctor if it got to the stage where it was unbearable Sad

misskatamari · 31/10/2013 12:48

Oh my god cooked brekkie sounds amazing Tiny! I had one in York over summer and it was the best cooked brekkie I have ever eaten and I'm till forever going on about it to DH. I have visions of my Preggo cravings for it getting really bad and doing a 3 hour round trip to go and get one Grin

Don't worry ladies - well have a fabulous fit February mums thread after we've all popped!

tinypolkadot · 31/10/2013 12:58

I agree - you can't beat a decent cooked bekkie misskat I can't tell DH about how often I'm eating them though or he gets jealous, I've promised to do him one this Sunday (just so I can have another one really) Grin

I think if you went to York for your brekkie you'd probably find it doesn't live up to the memory, maybe you could try to find somewhere more local - a brekkie crawl?

TeaAddict235 · 31/10/2013 13:00

Good question lovestobake, my LO gives me the kicking of my life...everyday. And I don't know what to expect later.

Ladies, do active babies lead to active newborns etc later on?

DH and I are rather quiet and chilled people.

Thisisfreakingmeout · 31/10/2013 13:31

My concerns about my local hospital continue. I call ed to book my anti D injection. The letter from the hospital specifically aid it must be after my 28 week MW app. The MW asked how far along I am. When I said 26 weeks, she said I should come in this afternoon. I mentioned the letter and said my app is 11/11. She said she had to check.

She came back 5 minutes later and tried to book it for 10/11. I said, I believe it must be after my app on 11/11 (a little nervous now). She went away to check.

She finally came back and asked when I wanted my appointment. A little desperately I said, after my app on 11/11? So she booked me later that afternoon.

Not sure I should be training midwives on the timings of anti D injections.

jazzcat28 · 31/10/2013 13:33

champagne glad to hear you're feeling a bit better today.

Whoever it was who was complaining of leg cramps these (plus insomnia) are my regular nightly experience. I console myself by reminding me that the lack of sleep and leg pain is surely good training for what's to come in being a new mum and going through labour!

All this talk of multiple breakfasts and food is making me feel better - I have been eating loads recently! Strangely gone off cooked breakfasts but loving all things sweet and cake like. Perhaps this means it's a girl? All other signs suggesting boy...

Got my 25wk appointment on Wednesday. Do you get to hear the heartbeat? DH missed my 16wk appointment and so didn't hear it then, and they didn't do it at my 20wk scan. Wondered if it was worth him coming to the 25wk one?

Agreed my finish date with work today Officially starting ML 3rd Feb (EDD 16th) but line manager perfectly happy for me to front load as much annual leave as I want in January so potentially can stop 17th Jan if I want Smile

Julietee · 31/10/2013 13:42

Jazz, they should do it. Suggest it very strongly if no noises in that direction are made!

I am so glad I'm not the only one double-breakfasting it :D

LO is very quiet today.
I read that babies of anxious mothers can be somewhat more active in utero, and that's been my experience so far. Except days like this when he worries me! Am actually quite chilled about it so far though.

I did a wee that smelled like jam yesterday and am wondering how suggestive a sign of GD this might be, and whether it can wait to be raised at my 25 week appt next Friday. Probably.

Also - is anyone else finding that baby brain is making them slightly dyslexic? I'm constantly wondering - is that how that's spelled? Oh, yeah, it is! And fumbling words on the keyboard. I'm usually a pretty good speller, but always been slightly dyslexic with numbers.

barebranches · 31/10/2013 15:18

i heard the heart beat at 25 week check.

def nesting today... made a list and given DH jobs... after visiting my friend with her new baby and seeing her lovely homely home i see lots of things wrong with my house. Sad

CubanoHabana · 31/10/2013 15:33

Ah really want cooked breakfast now! Was at metro centre this morning with a lovely friend (who has just bought be a gorgeous baby gym) and we were there so early that when we went for tea and cake, they were doing breakfasts... Didn't want one then but really do now!

Also another very clever friend of mine suggested I re-buy all my mama and papas stuff in sale, tHen take it all back in original packaging using old receipt... Have done it (only 1 thing they didn't have in shop that they originally had) and took it back to a different store and now saved £65! Very happy!

CubanoHabana · 31/10/2013 15:34

Also, how do they measure baby at mw appointment? I just thought they measured tum? Have mine tomorrow and now worrying about it hurting...

barebranches · 31/10/2013 15:42

nothing hurt. the felt my tummy and measured my bump... i think the measure the height of the womb.

CubanoHabana · 31/10/2013 15:47

That's good to know bare, poor lastnight you just must have been unlucky...

Littleen · 31/10/2013 15:49

Miaow, can't join in the double breakfast club - I struggle to eat anything other than chocolate and white bread with ham on it. Feeling really bored and off all food, and it's a proper chore to eat anything else. Not gained any weight apart from the 3 pounds I lost in the first trimester, but baby is growing well according to the mw, so should be ok. And I take vitamins etc, so hopefully he should be ok! Feel really guilty for eating so unhealthily though, but just cannot muster the energy and resolve to eat better! -.-

PoopPoooDeDooo · 31/10/2013 16:24

Oooh Cubano you must be close to me, I live within 30mins of the Metrocentre Smile

camwombat · 31/10/2013 16:46

cubano, they use a tape measure to measure the distance from the top of the uterus to the top of the pubic bone.

And I'm also ~30-35mins from the metrocentre and am heading that way next week for Xmas and baby shopping! we are probably all in different directions from it!

Poppy954 · 31/10/2013 16:57

cubano - good move on the refund. They usually measure your bump from the lowest point of your pubic bone to the highest point they can feel your uterus. Your me might not do it at 25 weeks as it's only accurate from 26-28 weeks. Have you got a chart in your notes based on your height and weight for the mw to plot growth?

lovesto - in my experience yes. Baby 1 was very active in utero and was quite a demanding baby. He's always prefered to be active. Baby 2 was much calmer in utero and was a very placid baby (awful toddler though) and generally much
Less active.

LovesToBake · 31/10/2013 17:01

Poppy that is exactly what I was hoping to hear (minus the awful toddler bit!). I am SO excited about the prospect about this little one being chilled out. DS is wonderful but definitely demanding and keeps me on my toes!

CubanoHabana · 31/10/2013 19:17

poop and cam I am also 30 mins away - live in castleside, near Consett, but used to live in South Shields and worked at one point in Newcastle, so pretty much 30ish minutes away whichever direction! I must say metro centre was surprisingly quiet today!

poppy I will have to check my notes but from what I remember! there were loads of charts in the back! I wAsnt supposed to have mw appointment tomorrow but I had a stand in mw who wrongly gave me an app ntment at 20 weeks (saw her at 16 weeks and she was useless) and usual mw said she didn't want me to wait until 28 weeks without seeing anyon as it was too long to go for first timer without a reassurance chat, so she put extra one in...

misskatamari · 31/10/2013 19:17

Ooooh I wonder what mine will be like - she's always active at scans and has her moving moments but she's often pretty quiet too - although that could be the placenta in the way!

Managed to make my apple pie today finally that I've been wanting to do for weeks. I even found some Halloween cookie cutters id forgotten about so it has some bats, a ghost and a cat on top Grin

Alas I didn't fully read to the end of the chilli instructions and it takes 3 hours to cook not 2. DH is working late and I was hungry so I thought sod it and made Stilton creamy pasta instead and the chilli and be eaten tomorrow! It looks yummy tho - it's got big beef pieces in instead of mince, and chorizo! Nom!

Now it's bath time - I hope trick or treaters don't egg my house whilst I'm in it!

DawnOfTheDee · 31/10/2013 20:11

DD1 was a big wriggler during pregnancy - since she's been out she's either AWAKE and moving (at approx 100mph) but when she sleeps she is ASLEEP (big long naps, always been a pretty 'good' sleeper in general). I love her and am soooo glad of her fab napping skillz but man, when she's up she wears me out just watching her!
