You bought your husband a pink bib Janey? Grin

Well I was starting to quietly think that maybe solids were the magic formula for sleep. Had two fabulous nights then for reasons known only to herself, she decided to spend half the night last night wide awake blowing raspberries and repeatedly hitting me in the face. Should have known it wouldn't last.

Alexandra6 · 01/12/2013 12:17

Good work on the half price pink bib janey, your DP will look great in it Grin I've seen him eat and it's not pretty.

Today I'm shopping to try and get labour going!

BlearyeyedLol · 01/12/2013 13:44

Oooh I'm having one of those bibs for dh as well cav!!! It looks brilliant. I'm still tempted to wait until I'm back from hols to start weaning.
I'm not getting any sleep either. LL woke up last night 5/6 times. At least she did go back to sleep soon after but still a pain.
I've been told by a friend to rub Ashton powder on her tongue twice a day in order to help with teething discomfort. I have been doing that for the last 3 days and at least she's been lasting 2/3 hours rather than 40min!!!
I am bloody knackered though. Confused

CatsCantFlyFast · 01/12/2013 20:26

Alex how are you getting on? Do you have any midwife apps planned in the next few days?

Quodlibet · 01/12/2013 22:19

Well I am officially on rest now. Party done, freezer stuffed to bursting with food, we now have a Moses basket and sheets/blankets so baby has somewhere to sleep, all current DIY projects are completed, Xmas tree is up (decided to get Xmas going early in case I don't get any later in the month!) and today I slept til 13.30pm. I have only just realised how knackered I am and how hard it is doing anything/walking about/standing up at this late stage. Planning lots of sofa time going forward.

Alex I don't know how you are not bursting with impatience.

Alexandra6 · 01/12/2013 22:38

I really am bursting with impatience!! Keep telling myself to just enjoy this bit of extra prebaby mat leave and the pregnancy isn't uncomfy, but I've been struggling today with the wait. It's the wondering what sort of labour/birth I'm going to have, boy or girl, will everything be healthy - and I'd like it to all kick off on its own without intervention so I am keeping everything crossed it happens soon! Had lots of bloody false alarms tightenings and braxton hicks over the weekend. Seeing the midwife on Tues and hoping I get one that I'll feel comfortable with to do a sweep. Come on baby Alex!!

Alexandra6 · 02/12/2013 09:41

Just been googling and apparently average first time pregnancy length for a Caucasian woman is 41 + 1 and also in France they give you a later due date. So according to that study, I'm not even overdue!

Alexandra6 · 02/12/2013 09:44

This study says earlier though: spacefem.com/pregnant/charts/duedate6.php

Cavort · 02/12/2013 10:28

I just did a search for Ashton and Parsons (teething powder) at this online chemist and this was the quite unexpected result. Shock I can't imagine that being particularly soothing to a baby's gums.

HazleNutt · 02/12/2013 10:33

cavort why not, it's rubber, probably nice to chew Grin

I think Viki must be teething as well, was very grumpy yesterday and furiously chewing everything.

janey1234 · 02/12/2013 10:45

Shock Cavort!! GrinGrin

BraveLilBear · 02/12/2013 10:49

Oh my Cavort! That would have been a surprise if you had blind ordered it!

I got 7 hours sleep last night... H slept from 9 til 630! On breastmilk! I know it won't last but it's officially his first night sleeping through :)

The timing's perfect as I've got a meeting with my boss this arvo. Am so nervous (even though I asked for the meeting) Blush

Cavort · 02/12/2013 11:09

That teether must be good - 4.5 out if 5 stars. Grin

Same here Hazle but still no sign of an actual tooth. We have bought a Gummee Glove which at least stops her hurling her teethers across the room.

Brave I am wild with jealousy! I hope he keeps it up for you though.

Elodie slept 19.00-03.00 and then 05.00-08.00 so could be worse but still that annoying 2 hour wake up. Angry

Just got back from 38 wk check and baby is now unengaged, having been 4/5 engaged before. Bum. I don't want to go 8 days over - that puts me at Dec 23rd! Plus I am now officially swollen and uncomfortable and don't want 4 more weeks of it ta.

Alexandra6 · 02/12/2013 13:22

I got the feeling she was guessing quite a bit when they checked my engagement, it really didn't feel like an accurate thing! Also baby can drop quickly again surely if it can get unengaged too? Hope yours doesn't keep you waiting and hope mine comes soon before the excitement and anticipation drives me crazy! Also getting a bit worried mine will be huge like I was eek!

HazleNutt · 02/12/2013 13:43

As several of us are weaning or planning to - when you buy sippy cups, the Tommee Tippee First Sips cup is really nice and Viki actually drinks from it quite successfully (if he's in the mood).
However, the inner part with the valve becomes quite loose, as you of course need to remove it for cleaning every time. And if you have a baby who also enjoys blowing into bottles, they will blow the valve part out of its place and happily pour the whole cupful of milk all over themselves and the baby jail. Hmm

BlearyeyedLol · 02/12/2013 14:22

Lol cavort!! That is not what I've been putting in my baby's mouth GrinGrin. Maybe I will try that instead?
Sleep pretty much fucked around here too. I've stopped counting number of waking and decided to count my blessings as she goes straight back to sleep most times!!
Wow 2 more babies soon. Quod it would e bitter sweet to have baby on 24th bearing in mind what happened to you last year on that day??? Not that I'm wishing it to be late but in case it is..
Alex one week overdue???? Argh

Alexandra6 · 02/12/2013 14:44

I know, last night the hormones and anticipation got to me and I even had a little feeling sorry for myself cry as I want to meet the baby so much and know all is ok! Right I'm determined to just enjoy the excitement and be glad I can carry a baby to term as a few months ago I would have done anything to know my cervix can hold up!

Quodlibet · 02/12/2013 15:06

You lot might well have read this but here is an article that says, essentially, that there is no rhyme or reason to infant sleep and all this chopping and changing is entirely normal.

Lol yep I can appreciate the poetry in baby arriving on Xmas eve... I guess I am just not thrilled with the idea of 2 xmases on the trot spent in and around a hospital! I'd much rather be appreciating the m

Quodlibet · 02/12/2013 15:07

Agghh! Appreciating the moment with a small healthy snugly newborn and a glass of fizz come Xmas!

Alexandra6 · 02/12/2013 15:15

quod as these things all work out as averages maybe I'm taking one for the team by being late so you can go on time or a bit earlier with your dates? Wink Grin

Mmmm, glass of xmas fizz...

janey1234 · 02/12/2013 16:34

I was thinking the very same thing quod. What a difference a year makes hey. Will keep absolutely everything crossed that you are home with baby before Christmas Eve.

Alex -having seen you on Sat I think you're bearing up incredibly well, much better spirits than I would be I'm sure! It's not long now either way although I know it feels like it and the big day really is just around the corner xx

BlearyeyedLol · 02/12/2013 18:53

If anyone's got the shopping bug, kiddicare are having 20% off everything today. I may have gone a bit mad and stocked up on cute things essentials!! Grin

janey1234 · 03/12/2013 08:03

Why oh why will Miles go to sleep happily in his co sleeper cot at 7pm? And again after a dream feed at 10.30pm (both times put him down awake)? Yet from 1am onwards once he wakes he wants to be in bed with us, and nothing else will do. It's knackering me out, as I'm either up having a battle of wills to try and get him back down in his bed, or I give up and accept I won't sleep properly for the next few hours. Gah I'm so tired Hmm

HazleNutt · 03/12/2013 09:09

Little better here, as Viki sleeps in his co-sleeper most of the night, but usually around 5 also decides that this is not acceptable and won't fall asleep there any more. But will happily sleep til 7.30-8 if I lift him into our bed. So our bed it is.
Making a rod for my own back and so on, but getting up at 5 every morning after a few previous wakings is not really an option.
