Purple in my opinion you can put up with a lot of crap but not with being told your milk is weak. Apart from being utter rubbish it is also very cruel. Bf is hard enough without that kind of comment especially from the father of your baby. I feel like shouting at him Angry
Over here we still have very little night sleep. It's been one week now and I'm knackered. Dh has been more helpful which is a plus but things are still hard!
Think I've made my decision on weaning. We will do mainly purées and odd bits of finger foods when dh is at home so as I don't have to deal with the gagging on my own. The plan is to wait until I come back from hols in January when she will be 25/2 weeks. Quite looking forward to it actually!

Purplemonster · 29/11/2013 20:35

I knew you'd all be on my side Smile anyway, that's nothing, the other day in all seriousness, he told me I shouldn't go out in the day, I should stay at home and 'do the washing up and stuff'

I was so stunned I don't think I even responded!

Alexandra6 · 29/11/2013 21:39

Sending you hugs purple, he's being out of order, you're doing a great job and he should be supporting you more Angry

Cavort · 29/11/2013 21:48

Of course you should Purple. And you should consider having your toes removed so you can get that bit closer to the sink and cooker. Which cave did you find this Neanderthal in?

I just fired the DOB question at DH.
"I know it was a Friday so if you give me a calender I can probably work it out." Biscuit

Perfect timing for the question though as he now feels guilty about not knowing it so has offered to get up with her in the night. That means it is now wine o'clock. Grin

purple your fella sounds like he needs a damn good kicking! My OH expects me to be a stepford wife and mum and then also be cheerful and full of energy in the evening. Where as actually I am tired and snappy by the evening usually and just want to veg.

Made the mistake of going to bed at 10.30 last night, meant I had to wake up at 1.30, 4.30 and 7.30, might have got an extra couple of hours kip but felt like I was up much more in the night. Was only one extra wake up but felt like more.

I'm trying to make my OH do the night feeds tonight, hes not keen but I think its only fair after me doing them all for the last 3 weeks.

So when are we getting more baby berries? Any news alex. Also when is baby quod due?

Cavort · 29/11/2013 22:40

Mother I am Shock that you see 07.30 as a nighttime wake up. The schedule you describe sounds good to me and I would happily swap! Grin

Alexandra6 · 29/11/2013 22:56

No sign of baby Alex yet mother - it's hard to think about anything else, I keep looking out for signs! Grin I googled induction stories today which was a bit of a mistake as sounds like it can make labour tougher, especially the drip, so I'm hoping bumpy decides to come on its own over the next week. I have had curry tonight so am resorting to old wives tales Wink

Cavort · 29/11/2013 23:06

Get baby out the same way they got in Alex. Probably won't work but definitely more enjoyable than pineapple Grin

Have you tried nipple tweaking?

OP posts:
Purplemonster · 29/11/2013 23:28

'Have you tried nipple tweaking' for some reason has given me the giggles. We have the most civilised conversations here don't we Grin

Alexandra6 · 29/11/2013 23:29

DH isn't having any of it cavort - we were really laughing when we went out for a meal last night as he said "babe as much as I love you and fancy you like mad, the idea of it now really freaks me out! I mean, I'll try and step up if it really comes to it..." - ha, what's happened to the romance! Wink If I'm really honest, it would freak me out at this stage too!

So nipple tweaking it is then! Grin

BraveLilBear · 30/11/2013 02:44

Lol Alex well good to hear you can laugh about it although he might not realise he's going to have to wait even longer if you don't

I don't know about the first part of induction - we skipped straight to the drip - but it wasn't that bad. Obviously I've got nothing to compare this to but I'd been led to believe it was the worst thing in the world and, well, it wasn't that bad.

The one definite advantage to induction is none of that having to do the whole in-labour drive to hospital thing. #everycloud

But hopefully the nipple tweaking works instead!

Purple and Mother, your two make mine sound like partner of the year (tho tbf he's really turned things round after a terrible few months). I'm so sad for you both :(

Cavort · 30/11/2013 07:28

Induction doesn't have to mean peaasries and drip. I was induced but all they did was break my waters and the rest happened on its own, but of course I was already in slow labour when they did that.

Purple - maybe kill him and let the dogs eat the evidence? What twatty things to say!

So we are having a housewarming party today and will soon have in laws and others descending - should really get off MN and go and cook some food!. I had some quite painful sensations last night, dunno if caused by doing too much frantic tidying or just by baby moving around/head spinning on my cervix, but like low down very strong sharp period cramps on and off. Woke up in the night with more of the same but a duller version. Am hoping I can get through today without any more as wont be very social with those going on!

HazleNutt · 30/11/2013 09:45

strong period cramps? Sure they are not contractions?

Cavort · 30/11/2013 10:09

Did you get the tens Quod? That might help with any pains but like Hazle said, it does sound promising!

OP posts:
MotherOfCleo · 30/11/2013 10:11

cav I only see 7.30 as a wake up when I'm used to going to bed at 1.30. Wink

I cant moan about his night time sleeping to be honest, he is really good. Plus we swapped sides and my OH did the 2.30 and 4.30 feeds last night, so although I was awake I didnt have to be up and down with Harvey.

quod they sound like contractions to me Grin

Quodlibet · 30/11/2013 10:17

Thanks all, they are gone now so maybe just a warm-up act! It did make me realise that a) I am not ready yet! and b) labour is going to hurt, isn't it?! DP repeated some lines from the hypnobirthing book about 'interesting strong sensations' while I was writhing on the sofa going Ow! Ow! last night - tongue in cheek thankfully but did make me appreciate that breathing and mental focus has its limits...

Tens arrived indeed, thank you so much Cavort (and sorry not to let you know sooner -last week at work has been a bit crazy). I am waiting for some new pads to arrive from amazon and then I fully intend to give it a good test run.

Cavort · 30/11/2013 10:57

Nah, labour doesn't hurt. Who has told you that nonsense? Wink Grin

Well I've just been on my first jog (really can't call a mile and a half in 18 minutes a run) for a year. Boobs stayed firmly in place. But pelvic floor seemed a bit delicate - was a but heavy-feeling at times.

And Blush when I got in the shower, I could smell wee :( tho thrre weren't any signs of leakage anywhere else.

In other news, we're terrible parents :( we went for a walk earlier but I put H on an armchair while I changed my trousers - with DP in the room.

90 seconds later I was about to enter the room when there was the must sickening thud ever, followed by wailing. I dashed in to find H lying on the floor, screaming, having tumbled off the chair onto the laminate floor.

I feel upset even now just thinking about it. He didn't cry for long - I was crying for longer - and there doesn't appear to be any damage although I'm keeping a very close eye on him just in case.

Lesson learned though :(

BlearyeyedLol · 30/11/2013 21:08

OMG brave the very same thing happened to me today!!! Dh put LL on the sofa to go and get the car seat set up, I was upstairs and heard this massive wailing and thought she was having a whinge, only to find her splattered on the floor in floods of tears!!! I also cried longer than herHmmHmm

Purplemonster · 30/11/2013 21:19

Watch out about that pelvic floor bear - running/ high impact exercise puts a lot of strain on it and if you do have any problems, running is best avoided.

BraveLilBear · 30/11/2013 22:16

I know Purple. I'm quite wary. I used to have a kick ass pelvic floor - did a lot of running and other high impact sports (including basketball and martial arts.

I'll be gutted if I have to give up running. Today was a tester. More work needs to be done that's for sure although I don't know how to step it up.

If I can get the pelvic floor strong enough to run again, then maybe there's hope for my otherwise ruined sex life.

BraveLilBear · 30/11/2013 22:19

Oh God poor you Lol. Scared the living crap out of both of us. I was mad at DP for leaving him (he was in the kitchen and ran suitability quickly to the scene) but really it was my fault - I put him there in the first place.

So from now until he's what, 5, we're gonna be on tenterhooks.

Hope LL is ok x

Cavort · 01/12/2013 08:42

Well, normal service has been resumed in respect that Elodie now sleeps for around 7 hours before waking up hungry (she was waking up before midnight some nights), which is good news, but she is still staying up for 2 hours when she does wake up. Confused Last night she woke 4-6am and then got up for the day at 06.40 - gah!!! And today we're driving an hour to spend the day with the PIL so we can't go back to bed - double gah!! Sad I have bought DH a Nespresso machine for Christmas (a seemingly dull present but I know he really wants one) but I am tempted to give it to him now so I can have an expresso.

Please note: if everyone else's babies are now sleeping beautifully please lie and tell me it's shit and how knackered you are to make me feel better so I don't explode with jealousy. Grin

I think we are taking the plunge with weaning and I have ordered a high chair and one of these bad boys. Grin

Ha cavort that's what I've got DP for Christmas. Was going to get him one from John Lewis on Thursday, but was too disorganised. Went online first thing Friday to find it was half price in their Black Friday deals - saving me £199. Ace.

And this isn't even a lie cavort, Miles' sleeping is crap still. Last night particularly so, with two wakes before midnight and about five after that. Yawn.
