Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
kittywits · 14/08/2006 09:55

hello all!! I'm back, was on holiday on the I.O.W with one mother, 5 kids and a possible beanie! V tiring, but the kids had a great time. We're also having real probs with the internet here so I'm lucky to be able to write this.
No luck with the early scan appontment yet, I'm v. cross and have started to lay on the hystrionics ( I'm good at that!). Symptons are still pretty mild, but no bleeding and have a big round tum.
Hope everyone,s doing well.
It was a relief to read back throught the posts and not read about any more 'caualities'.
I missed everyone!

Piffle · 14/08/2006 10:04

Fatfox. A better iron supplement is Spatone from healthfood shops and big chemists It is mineralised water you empty a sachet into OJ and drink, nice and NO CONSTIPATION!
I used this last time as I nearly got refused a water birth due to iron def anaemia
Got my levels up in 3 days!

stretchmarks · 14/08/2006 10:24

HI everyone,

It's been ages since I've been on there's loads of us now it's going to be a very busy March. My symptoms have been very mild this time round which has had me worrying there's no pleasing me. But I've got my scan in 2 weeks time so I can't wait to check and make sure everything is ok. For anyone who remembers my first post I was due to be a bridesmaid on the 6th April next year but I've recently found out that the bride is pregnant so the wedding has been postponed until July. So I'm chuffed now that I will be ging through pregnancy with my best mate and I've also got some time to shed the pounds before her big day !!!

ProfYaffle · 14/08/2006 17:11

Spatone is great, I used that last time round.

We've just found out that dh has got a job so he's been unemployed for the grand total of a week since being made redundant! Hoorah.

chitchat07 · 14/08/2006 17:13

Congrations ProYaffle! It must be such a relief to know that your husband is going to have a job! Worrying about that is the last thing you need at this point in time.

Piffle · 14/08/2006 17:44

ProfYaffle what relieving news for you all

DollyP · 14/08/2006 17:54

Well done Mr Yaffle . Weight off your mind too, Prof.

babycakes26 · 14/08/2006 18:10

Hi all - thanks for the advice on Spatone and other advice - I'll try it out - nice to hear from Ladybump. Anyone else had a bad hormonal day today? Hope everyone is doing ok...

madhide · 14/08/2006 18:56

Hi All

Have been looking at messages for the last couple of weeks but haven't posted for a while and just wanted to say hi! Am 9+3 today and scan booked for Sep 1st

I am feeling pretty good no MS but so tired all the time and have to have a day time sleep when I can. Any suggestions of anything that might stop me feeling so knackered?

TidyJane · 14/08/2006 22:16

Welcome to all the new comers and I'm really pleased for you profYaffle, what a relief!
Welcome to you Madhide, I'm 9 weeks today saw the midwife for the first time this afternoon and I'm just waiting for my scan appointment.
I don't know what to suggest for not feeling knackered a part from eat regurlarly and sleep loads (obvious I know!).
My MS seems to have decreased since yesterday. I'm relieved but at the same time slightly worried. Is it normal to stop at 9 weeks? I still felt sick yesterday and today but a lot less than normal.
Maybe due to the fact that I went to a barbecue yesterday and was litterally nibbling constantly and I seem to get MS when I'm hungry.
Hope everyone else is ok, nice to hear from you ladybump.
Fatfox, if it's any help, my mum had an amnio a few years ago as she was then 40, and was extremely worried about it but everything was fine and my little sister is now 11. A friend had one as well a few months ago, and again everything was perfectly fine. Hope that's slightly reassuring.

morocco · 14/08/2006 22:48

hello again, sorry to be out of touch for so long but computer is broken (complete nightmare!!) so I'm using my mum's. Seems like lots of us on this thread now, nice to see you eidsvold! I'm glad your husband got a new job so quickly profy, that must be a big relief.
I had my scan last week and I have a teddy bear! Well, so it looked like, bouncing around and dancing and waving its little arms and legs. Very cute. I got quite fond of it, watching it on the screen. So my due date is now 13th March. Good to know at last.
I was going to get a nuchal done but apparently you have to go private here so I'm not sure if I'll bother or not. I keep changing my mind. Does anyone get the nuchal on the NHS?
This week I am childless and hubbyless as I'm working away from home - it's great. Today I was not at all tired. This working lark is a fantastic doss. I spend all day chatting to colleagues and drinking coffee all by myself if I want to, and get to eat my lunch in peace too. I could get used to this! I guess my enthusiasm might wear off in a week or two but today was great fun.
hope you're all doing well

leogaela · 15/08/2006 09:10

Oh so much to catch up on again!

Welcome to all the new people!

Discussions about Amnios - I am sure its your own choice regardless of your age. THere are other tests that are done first that can indicate abnormalities which will help you make a decision whether to have one or not. The important thing is to know what you would do if your baby has abnormalities. If you are totally cool about it then I would say there is no reason to have an amnio. If you would rather know then best to have one.
I had an amnio with ds as I had some dodgy blood test results. Its not a pleasant experience but I know that I would want to know if something wasn't right. I think the risk of MC is less than 1%, but apparently it depends on the doctor that does it. My doctor has 100% sucess and I totally trusted him to do it.

As for me, I went to the doctor yesterday, he did a scan and revealed a little surprise! I'm having twins ! Ds will just be 2 when they are born, I find him hard to cope with now can't imagine how it will be with twin babies as well!
Anyone else going to join me as a twin mum I wonder !
The doctor said that I shouldn't contemplate a natural birth (would be a vbac which adds further complications), and I feel OK about it, I don't want to take any risk. Also they will be born around 4 weeks early so they will actuall be February babies, but I'll stick around here anyway now I've started to get to know you all !

pinkranger · 15/08/2006 09:31

OMG - leogela -
Did you have bad morning sickness, grow quicker or any other signs??
Bet you were gobsmaked , Congratulations On your BABIES!!!

I was 10 weeks yesterday and have a scan booked at the EPU tomorrow as i had slight bleeding yesterday with cramps , but the bleeding has stopped today and i do feel quite postive so fingers crossed that all is fine -
I had problems with my first pregnancy in the 12 weeks last time and he hung on in there so hpoing this little mite has their brothers determinating!! (sp) -

Hope that everyone else is welll and that the Morning sickness isnt causing you all to much grief!!

wheelybug · 15/08/2006 09:36

Just thought I'd have a peek at this thread to catch up with you all and saw Leo's message - WOW !! Congratulations - have you got over the shock yet ?!

Hope you're all coping with the MS ! Things here are fine - gave myself the project of selling our house and buying a new one and we managed to sell our house in 24 hours and have an offer accepted on a new one 2 days later so keeping myself busy sorting all that out. THEN we'll think about filling it up !!

flannelettepyjamas · 15/08/2006 09:41

ProfYaffle - congrats on the new job, you must be so relieved.
Leogaela - wow double congrats to you!

Piffle · 15/08/2006 10:56

Leo how exciting!!!!
Hope you do not get doubly horrid symptoms though!

I think I am feeling better too... Still nauseous but no retching - awful thing to say but i think it's better now dp has gone away for work for the week

Jaysecond · 15/08/2006 11:15

Leogaela, super duper news!! Congratualtions, you are going to have your hands full, a friend of mine had twins when i had my LO, she is having a brilliant time of it now, its crazy how different they are, for a start ones a boy ones a girl, the lad is almost walking but the girl has made no moves at all! I was wondering who may have twins, now i wonder if there will be any others??

ProfYaffle, great news re the job, its always a daunting time, glad its sorted now!

Good on you wheely, thats some going, buying and selling so quickly!

Pinkranger, keeping my fingers crossed for you, am sure that everything will be fine, it has to be, we are due on the same date!!!!

Welcome madhide and Eidsvold, always room for more!!! we really should tot up all our ladies and see how many there are......

Welcome back kittywits, hope you had a relaxing hol!

Well finally we have an exchange date, this Thursday, then we can get some work done on our new house and move in on the 1st/2nd September. This in effect means i have to have my 12+4 week scan in Surrey. Which is fine as i know for sure they do the Nuchal Fold test there, only thing is, the results then go to doctor here then i will have to wait until my notes ten get sent up to Nottingham, what a drag, last time i moved i was waiting 8 wks for notes to come through... bit of a pain but i guess it has to be done, I will also have to see MW here before i move as i havnt seen anyone yet, god it sounds like a real mess, am sure it wont be when it comes down to it....

Told PIL yesterday as they are going on hols for three odd weeks and wont be around when we tell everyone, they were very non emotional, MIL treated it like we just told her we were going away for a cpl of nights...'oh thats nice' ....
GRRRRR she makes me mad, bit too much of a long story to go ito re PIL, lets just say that theres NO way we would live any closer than a three hour drive!!!!

Anyway...i wont leave it as long in future, then i wont have to write such essays! Love one and all xx

DollyP · 15/08/2006 11:45

Morning ladies,

All is quiet here. DH taken DD out to Chinatown, leaving me at home with the computer. Feeling slightly better today, which is good. Very tired though - am on holiday for 2 weeks, but then back to work. How am I going to stay awake???

TidyJane - I think if you are free of MS at 9 weeks there is no need to stress. You are just lucky it has gone early. Agree about the eating though - however little you feel like it, it does seems to help, doesn't it?

Morocco - good to see you back dear. Congratulations on your teddy bear . Sounds very sweet. We do get nuchals on the NHS round here (SE London) so are very lucky. On another thread some ladies were chatting about private nuchals at the Fetal Medicine Centre in Harley St. 5 different tests for £150 and apparently 97% accurate. TBH, if I didn't get a nuchal automatically here I'd go private but then I am an old bird and a worrier. Haven't decided about what I would do if I got a bad result though - cross that bridge when we get to it.

Leogaela - CONGRATULATIONS! That is fantastic news! A friend of mine will also have 3 under 2 with her twins born in Sept and DS being 2 in Oct, so I'll let you know how she gets along.

Good luck for your scan pinkranger - fingers crossed.

Hello wheelybug, good to see you my love .

Good luck for the move, Jay. Know what you mean about telling the outlaws too. DH told mine last night and MIL was distinctly sniffy, saying "well i hope Vanessa doesn't make such a fuss about her sickness as last time" (tee hee! I've made more fuss!) and FIL limiting himself to "splendid news". They said DD was well coordinated as well. WTF?! She's 16 months and toddles around like the rest of them. Haven't noticed any juggling or other displays of coordination (!) and she isn't great at feeding herself with a spoon. Seems like a very odd remark to me.....

Anyway, I must away. Hope everyone is doing ok, and hello to everyone I've missed. Hope to talk to you again soon.

XXXXXX

leogaela · 15/08/2006 13:35

Thanks for the congrats , it makes me feel a whole lot better about it!

Pinkranger - strangely my morning sickness hasn't been as bad as with ds. I am very tired though. so far I've lost weight and my belly hasn't changed at all (I don't think), we'll see what happens in the next couple of weeks !
Funnily enough I had a feeling about it, I had joked about having twins with a couple of people and imagined myself (with horror) having twins!

Morocco - sounds fantastic, bliss....!!!!

kittywits · 15/08/2006 14:20

God, I hate the summer holidays. Why do they have to be sooooo long? I'm sure it's worse this year because I feel so tired. Sorry, moany depressed day today. feel like a crap mother and wonder what on earth I'm going to do if I have another!

kittywits · 15/08/2006 15:29

Blimey, all my nagging has finally got me a scan booked in for tomorrow morning. Now I'm scared!!

morocco · 15/08/2006 15:40

oooh - did you just find out about the scan right now? talk about short notice. that's great though - good luck!
hope the house move goes smoothly jaysecond - remember not to lift a finger and just sit around a lot letting dh do the work! We moved 3 weeks ago. new house new baby!
omg leogaela! twins!!! how did you feel when they saw the two little heartbeats - did yours skip a beat?? at least because they are your 2nd/3rd you will know what you're doing baby wise so that part won't be so much of a shock. WOW. Do twins run in the family?

LaidbackinAsia · 15/08/2006 16:21

Hi everyone.....

Congrats Leogala !!! Fab news ... my friend has just returned to the UK to give birth to twin girls - due in the next month or so. She has been enlisting promises of health and support since she found out !

Kitty - hope your day improves - any chance of you getting a few hours alone time away from the kids ? I find it really helps me reset if you know what I mean.

Glad lots of us seem to be feeling less sick - me included - sorry to those still suffering.

Back to the UK in 3 weeks and having 'what to wear to friends wedding dilemma'. Will be 14 weeks by then and can't remember from last pregnancies whether I 'showed' by then. Will probably look like I've just been at the pies

kittywits · 15/08/2006 17:07

Wow Leo, that,s fab news. Do they know yet whether they are identical or not? Do you have twins in your family? You must be so excited

dixia · 16/08/2006 08:13

Morning all, just checking in on holiday (sad?)and saw Leo's message. WOW! Congratulations! Scary and exciting.

We are having a lovely time - been driving up through Spain, now at a very grand old hotel in Bilbao ready to get on the long boat to England. Been in Toledo and Burgos - both lovely cities.

Got to run now XXX
