Hello! Got my BFP 15 minutes ago and only on CD27 so anything could happen, but couldn't miss the opportunity to start an ante-natal thread.

Stats:

Me: 30
DH: 33
Estimated due-date: 7th March 2007.

Hope I'll have more joining me very soon

Piffle, I agree, get maternity clothes. I didn't get any with dd as I too stayed pretty much the same size/ wore hipsters. However, now my tummy is very rounded and waistbands of any desciption feel dead uncomfy. Actually spent last night sitting in my pants as I couldn't bear anything on my tum.

Mia, just want to say again, I share your disappointment/worry at beanie not being as big as you were expecting. Please, I don't want this to sound ungrateful to those who have lost theirs, and I should be happy with a heartbeat etc.., but I really really can't bear the waiting.

Jaysecond · 08/08/2006 19:23

oops.....am sure your 'fist' is worth congratulating Babycakes, however i think that congratulating your FIRST pregnancy is more appropriate!!

DollyP · 08/08/2006 19:32

Hi girls

Nova, it's a pain being redated but now you have the same EDD as me ! I agree it's not what you want to hear, as you are waiting to reach the magic time when MS is supposed to go. Still, we are all in it together and will get through it together! Hang on in there.

Welcome babycakes - good to have you on board. How many are we now? Feels like loads of us.

I too have a big tummy but the rest of me is getting smaller. I have not been a size 8 since I was about 8 though, so smaller is relative here. I thought JoJo had some quite nice maternity stuff this time round. And you get 10% off with MN!! I have just bought some lovely 7 for all mankind jeans on Ebay for only £30 - they would be over £100 in the shop so I got a bit of a bargain! Agree about teh stretcy waistband thing if you dont want to splash out on maternity kit just yet.

I am sick sick sick at the moment. Bought a load of preggie pops last week and they do help, but they make my mouth feel a bit funny. Also (TMI alert) my tummy has been very upset again - do you think it is because I am living on diet coke and toast? My poor DD is suffering too with a very bland diet. My sister came over today and entertained her whilst I slept. Also gave her some tasty food - she only gets stuff which doesn't smell when I am around. Oh well, i hope it won't be for long.

Hope you all have a good evening XXXX

TidyJane · 08/08/2006 21:23

Hi and welcome to Babycakes!!

Jaysecond thank you for your compliment but the way it's going this time, I don't think I'm gonna stay a size 8. I've already got to open my Jeans Button, even at work. (surely that's not normal! Is it because it's my second?).
In fact I think I will get those maternity trousers a try (you know with the elastic band arount it.) My friend had them on one day (obviously with a long top to cover the band), and the Jeans themvselves looked gorgeous. As long as you don't see the band that is!!

I don't really fancy buying any maternity things yet though.
I had a bad day today. My car broke down (luckily enough got a courtesy car but it's a lot crapper than mine) and had to take the bus back home with DD, (who wasn't very well but was an angel on the bus) while DH was waiting for the AA man. Then got very stressed at work and got stomach pains straight after.
I got really paranoid that stress might have brought those pains on. But they seem to have gone now.
I'm determined to have a really serene, calm and lovely pregnancy, as I worried quite a lot with the first one.
I am pissed off with near enough everyone though (strangers rather than close people), I've turned into a female version of Victor Meldrew.
Do you find that? I've become a bit paranoid as well.

Jaysecond · 08/08/2006 21:33

by the way we ALL need to read this

babycakes26 · 08/08/2006 22:20

Hi all just want to say thanks for the congrats - off to bed now...an early night for me as not able to sleep at all well at the moment. Any tips?

flannelettepyjamas · 09/08/2006 03:45

Hi Babycakes, welcome.
Mia and Dolly P I think we all have the same date now (30th March)
Mia, growth of the fetus is not a problem this early on. All fetuses of the same age are the same size which is why they can tell the dates very accurately ( to within 4 days either side) early on but not so accurately after 12 weeks.
Please don't worry about your baby's growth at this stage, your test was obviously positive eary (it can be at 7-10 days post conception with a sensitive enough test).

ProfYaffle · 09/08/2006 12:53

Hi all,

I've not been around for a few days with the redundancy drama here. DH is deffo unemployed, sent home on the spot! But the good news is he secured an interview about 2hrs after being told the bad news and we have a few other leads to follow as well so fingers crossed.

I'm about 11 weeks now and feeling really well, tiredness and sickness seem to be receding. Except for today though cos dd was up in the night being sick so I'm shattered. She's asleep now though so if I was sensible I could go to bed but I'm on here instead!

leogaela · 09/08/2006 13:03

Piffle, the inbetween stage is really difficult with clothes. Last time I also suffered from a belly that couldn't stand any pressure very early on, even zips and buttons undone didn't work but I was too small for maternity clothes. I got some cheap t-shirts a size or two bigger and found a pair of black lycra sports trousers which had only a very discreet label on the waistband. I could wear smart shoes with them and a shirt for work and they looked fine. They lasted through the whole pregnancy even though at the end I grew out of all my maternity trousers. desparately hoping I can find the same thing again cos I pretty much wore them out and they grew with me!

ProYaffle, sounds as if your Dh is a bit of a star and won't take long to get another job. hopefully he can relax and enjoy some time off!

chitchat07 · 09/08/2006 14:33

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to join the March group

Me: 36
DH: 35
EDD: 12 March

So I'm 9 + 2 at the moment. This is my first PG so feeling very ignorant (and nauseous!!) at the moment.

Only had my booking last week (I was away when I found out I was pregnant!!) so have only had a blood test done so far. Not worried about the results because had a 'planning to get pregnant' blood test done and had my immunisations brought up to date.

Will find out results on Friday, and also the date of my scan.

Jaysecond · 09/08/2006 16:31

welcome chitchat, i am due 11 March so am 9+3 great days! i havnt had so much as an appointment yet, long story to do with moving and changing docs and hospitals etc, so i feel like i am bumping along without anyone looking out for me.... and to make matters worse we keep getting messed about by our buyer in terms of dates we can exchange contracts on, i am so mad i could cry/scream/laugh.....at this rate i will end up having my 12/13 wk scan here rather than nottingham (where we are moving to) sorry guys dont mean to go on, just caught me at a bad moment.......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Booboobedoo · 09/08/2006 16:47

Hi everyone and welcome new people! Nice happy news

I'm 10+1 today - and absolutely no sign of the MS easing up. We're off on hols tomorrow, so I hope the new melt-in-the-mouth anti-emetics I've been prescribed help.

TBH, I'm more worried than I would otherwise be, as my Mum and maternal Grandma both suffered from MS right the way though their PGs.

Big hugs to everyone else going through this - it's unbelievable. I never imagined that being pregnant was going to be this awful.

On an up-note, though, I went to the GPs on Monday with DH, and we heard the tiny little heart-beat on the doppler. Aaaah.

Maybe it's worth it after all...

chitchat07 · 09/08/2006 17:03

Thanks for the welcome. I have had really bad nausea, ALL DAY!!! Usually I don't throw up, except when I haven't had my snacks in time (like this afternoon, working on the computer too long!!), so I'm not too worried about myself health wise.

I am hoping it ends soon, as I'm fed up with the upset tummy and the horrible taste. My DH says I have metallic breath. Thank goodness I am not working at the moment, wouldn't know how I'd cope if I was!!!

Jaysecond, I only discovered I was pregnant while I was away from London for 5 weeks (in Russia of all places) and being sick over there was the absolute pits!! So glad I have finally come home and seen the doctor.

DollyP · 09/08/2006 19:14

So sorry to hear about DH ProfYaffle. I hope he gets a new job soon. Handy to have him around when you're not feeling good though. How did the interview go? My DD was up in the night too so i really feel for you. Hope she is better today.

Feeling very sick and miserable today. Had a wave of sickness whilst I was in tesco today and thought I was either going to pass out or have to run out to be sick in the road! Oh dear. Hav lost 7lbs already. . Can really identify with Nova as what makes me feel better one day makes me feel worst the next. Today I can only manage toast, hula hoops and fizzy water. Oh well.

Is anyone else suffering from really bad hair? Mine is a frizzy mess at the moment, and whatever i do it looks pants. Its short, but usually quite straight - now it's wavy and very grey . Will have to go to the hairdressers for some cheeky highlights once I can stand the smell of the bleach....

Take care girls and hope you are all feeling OK this evening XXXX

novadandypowder · 09/08/2006 19:55

booboo - I never imagined I would feel awful during pg either, it completely shocked me with dd. I lived with the blind/naive hope that it would be different this time, but it's exactly the same. My mum also suffered with sickness til term with all 3 of hers. I'm never ever doing this again, two is the end for me!

novadandypowder · 10/08/2006 11:01

ahhhh I've killed the thread on post 666!

dixia · 10/08/2006 11:15

Morning all. Welcome to chitchat and babycakes I am 9 weeks today and ms is easing slightly, although I'm still on super sickness pills.

Booboo, my mother and grandmother both had ms til term on their pgs. I had HG with first pg until 25 weeks. This time its a bit better Although it can seem like a stupidly long time to feel sick while you are going through it - even if it stops around the end of the 2nd trimester, as it did with me, it makes a difference. At least its all for a good cause! (she says, running for the loo!)

pinkranger · 10/08/2006 11:19

Hi everyone -

i am on this thread already way down the bottom but i have stayed away from posting as i didnt want to get my hopes us , but i am now 9+4 and i am due on the 11 th march, and not as worried now!

I am already hugh and have had to go buying bigger clothes which is a bit sooner then i expected!!

Congratulations to all the new BFP i have missed over the last month. Sorry to all the ladies that have had problems xxxx

Will be posting more now and hoping to enjoy the next 30 weeks of my pregnacy with you ladies!

Jaysecond · 10/08/2006 11:49

LOL Nova, i wasnt going to make ref to the 666 post....but i ws thinking the same thing!!!

WB Pinkranger, i know what you mean about not wanting to get your hopes up, i think everyones been thinking the same thing, still you are 9+4 ( excatly the same as me!!!)now so thats a good sign hopefully you can relax a bit now.

My MS is ow happenig in fits and starts, not all day like it has been, but when it does start up its a hundred times worse than it was when i had it all day, if that makes sense, anyone else had this?

Lots goin gon in the news atm, what with 'she who cant be named' and now the foiled terrorist attacks, i have been reading through a lot more of MN as a result, there really are a lot of other topics going on isnt there!

leogaela · 10/08/2006 12:18

Jay - I could spend hours reading other threads on MN. I really like the news ones as I get a bit out of touch with what is happening in the UK and the issues. Unfortunately I don't get time at home and my screen at work is a bit too open to snoopers so I don't get much time to chat!

My nausea seems to be worse today, it also comes and goes. I think it is worse when I'm at work. when I'm at home I am so busy and always running around that I don't seem to suffer as much! Well tomorrow is Friday and I'm at home again !

PifflinePankhurst · 10/08/2006 12:28

Had my appt with Gp today, trials you have to go through to get to the midwives...
Firstly she said that due to my advnaced maternal age, that I would need an amniocentesis, there ensued the first disagreement...
Then which hospital would I like to use for the birth.
I'd like a homebirth if poss but otherwise the natural unit at XXX hospital

But you cannot have a c section there you know
WTF?
I've had two babies, both arrived at hospital minutes before they were born and I lived close to the hospitals both times!
This time its miles away!

Anyway back to the watermelon, it is a godsend for nausea

chitchat07 · 10/08/2006 13:11

Piffline - if you don't mind me asking, what is your age? I am 36 and this is my first PG, so I don't know what to expect from the mw (when I finally manage to get one!).

Although with my first birth I don't particularly want a home birth, so I guess I won't have to fight that point.

dixia · 10/08/2006 13:41

Piffle, I had to fight so hard to get a homebirth with ds. He was my first and there was some disagreement among the midwives and docs about whether I should be opting for it. My gp refused to provide maternity treatment for me if I decided to go ahead with the homebirth. Luckily a lovely midwife told me of a gp who would take me on just for the duration of my pregnancy. As it turned out, ds was being awkward and had to go to hosp for an emergency c-section. But I am so glad I laboured at home. It was actually a really empowering experience and one that I would recommend to anyone, despite the unfortunate outcome for me. I was close to the hosp though, which was one thing that made me go for it. If I had delivered at home I would definately do it again this time around. Unfortuately that is out of the question after having a c-section.

Also the midwife here said that I would almost definately have to have an elective c-section as that is what they do here. She implied that I would be very lucky if I got refered to a doctor that would allow me to labour naturally! I think I will relax into the idea - I mean, at least this way I wont have to watch my due date come and go whilst I twiddle my fingers and wait for the action. I'll also get round the rather painful bit, although as they do generals here for c-sections, I won't be awake for the birth . That will take a bit of getting used to.

Anyone else in the same predicament?

LaidbackinAsia · 10/08/2006 13:59

Hello everyone - very hot here -95% humidity - but have just have tropical storm so hopefully that will have cleared the air a bit !

Piffline - welcome - I had a home birth with my DS2 - the midwives were very supportive, but I think GP resistance can be quite normal. I think in the end I had to sign something to say I was aware of the risks and took full responsibility for my choices etc etc. It was great - even though he was a big big boy 10lb 4 . Now living in Sri Lanka , but contemplating getting an independent MW out here for another homebirth.

Also - you DON'T have to have an amnio - it's recommended for older mothers, but you can choose. I'm 32 and won't have one.

Just keep on pushing for what you want..... am sure you will get your own way - your body, your baby !!

novadandypowder · 10/08/2006 14:08

good god, just got the feedback from the scan on monday and they've pushed my dates back some more! I'm only 7+1 today, which would have made me 6+5 on scan day. DH must have some sticky swimmers as that means I would have conceived nearly a week after bd-ing . Dr said she can refer me for another scan in two weeks if I'm worried it's too small and not growing as it should, but the general signs are good. What do you think ladies, would you pay for another scan or cross your fingers and wait for 12 wks?
