olivo - i thouroghly recommend throwing a screaming tantrum at dh explaining to him each and every ache and pain you're going through... it'll frighten some compassion into him and it'll make you feel tonnes better

Feathers - good luck tomorrow babe, hope the new hospital is nice and that they're a bit more helpful.

Snow - is the infection to do with the leucocytes or is it new and differant? btw, when are they taking the stitch out for you, they're cutting it fine if your dates are right aren't they?

Arabica · 10/07/2006 22:08

I'm v lucky in that I am getting most of my stuff second hand from friends. But I can't remember who is giving me what so hopefully they'll be in touch with me to come and get...
My mate has an electric breast pump which she says is super-efficient, so am trying that this time around. I didn't get on well with the Avent hand-pump.

eenywifemum · 10/07/2006 22:31

I'll have a look at the vertbaudet bedding - It has to match his nursery as we've already painted the walls - The curtains are from the mammas & pappas poppy & mustard range but they are just white with multi-colored dots on them (the same colors that are in Button nose bear) and we painted dots all over the walls in the same colors... a torquiose blue, lime green and red... I love the idea of dragons and castles!!!

Yellow good luck for tomorrow!! Let us know how it goes!!

Olivo I'm sorry you are struggling with your DH. Pregnant tired and uncomfortable is different to non-pregnant tired and uncomfortable, because it never goes away! I'm having hip problems in bed too... I didnt realise that was a thing that must be pretty common.

SnowBoo good luck to you too!! Hope they dont keep you in chains or anything!

PinkTulips · 11/07/2006 11:11

aaarrgghhh.... stupid ante-natal refresher class. sooooo not in the mood!

YellowFeathers · 11/07/2006 11:34

Hi everyone.

Been and come back from the hospital. Had a huge panic attack when one of the nurses took me in a room for my BP to be taken and demanded to be taken outside. Between her and dh they tried to calm me down and she ended up taking it in the coridoor lol!
I then went in to see the consultant. She was lovely.
Basically the reason they put me under shared care to start with is because I have a Duplex Kidney. All that means is that I have 2 tubes running from one of my kidneys instead of one and that is what has caused me to have numerous UTI's in the past.
As I mentioned the other day, Barnsley were happy it wasn't causing problems and discharged me back to MW care.
The consulatant today actually explained why it is a duplex kidney can affect a pregnancy and basically because of the pressure of the baby, it can press on the tubes causing urine to build up which then causes infection.
I've had to provide extra urine samples at 24 and 34 weeks which have been fine so once again I'm back under MW care! (who'd have thought it!)

Sorry for the ramble

Olivo, your body is preparing you for the sleepless nights ahead. Best tell your dh to get used to it and then whack him with a hard stick

Eeny, have you looked at Vertbaudet yet? If your wanting it to match then it might not be any good but the stuff is lovely.
We've decorated dd's room. She got one wall a really bright Orange colour and the rest a cream with a orange and green border that has jungle animals on.
The room the baby will have currently sports a delightful Scooby Doo border!

Pinky, you not enjoying the classes?

SnowBoo, hope your ok!

BabiesEverywhere · 11/07/2006 11:56

Just thought I would jump in on the August thread.

I'm avoiding my ironing pile at the moment and enjoying the sleepless nights that being 35 weeks pregnant brings.

On the bright side I'm enjoying my rasberry leaf tea and the sun is out today and there is less than 5 weeks before I meet my baby

On the bad side I have not yet packed my labour bag nor built our changing table or cot (though we do have a moses basket ready) and I have 100 other things to buy or finish before the baby comes and I am guessing about 50% will not get done

Anyone else willing to admit to being as badly organised as me, it will make me feel better

Oh yes, I have managed to write both my birth plans, one for the all natural home water birth I want and one for the c-section hospital version with every intervention and drug known to man just in case I change my mind

olivo · 11/07/2006 12:53

I'm right there with you in the lack of organisation stakes, Babieseverywhere! I just cant seem to get round to it....

hope you're ok now YF

I've secreted a large tin of minature heroes in my desk drawer and its the only thing which is getting me throuhg the day - as if i wasnt the size of two small houses already, i will be by the time i finish work . only 8 more getting ups......

Pink - i think the screaming tantrum could be on its way tonight!!!

eenywifemum · 11/07/2006 13:06

hi!!

Yellow did they give you any idea why you have been passing out? Are you pretty convinced it is anxiety? Glad you are back with MW care! I find it so frustrating when medical professionals arent consistent with each others decisions... its like, Who can you believe?? Anyway hope you are alright!

Pink, did you have your class?? How was it?

Welcome BabiesEverywhere! I am the same, I have a lot that needs to get done, most of which has to wait til payday at the end of the month! But you can bet I'll get it sorted ASAP I panic when things get left til the last minute.

Olivo oh I have been on SUCH a chocolate craving lately!! I feel for you!

Does anybody else have days where their bump feels a lot smaller? Sometimes I feel huge but other times (like now) I feel really small! Getting a complex over it actually!

I started a thread on pregnancy asking about whether or not Sal and I should get a foam or sprung cot mattress. Any thoughts??

dressedupnowheretogo · 11/07/2006 13:12

dressedupnowheretogo · 11/07/2006 13:13

eeny ours are foam

YellowFeathers · 11/07/2006 13:18

Eeny have replied on your thread

I'm nearly 100% sure its anxiety based. I suffered with it when I had dd but it was a different trigger then IYSWIM.
I didn't bother getting help then but I think this time I do.
Dh wants me to see a Dr so I might ask if I can go for CBT as I know it really helped my mum when she was struggling.
Only thing is I doubt I'll get to see anyone till after the baby comes which by then I might be ok, lol!

burstingbug · 11/07/2006 13:20

Not been on this thread for a while, keeps moving to fast for me to catch up.
Hope everyone is well.
I've got 4 weeks left, have to go for a scan tomorrow morning as the mw thinks that baby is beech or lying un a U shape with its limbs in the air!
I really need to get my bag packed for hospital too, I didn't bother writing out a birth plan with my ds and haven't written one this time round either. I don't want a c-section, forceps or an epidural if I can avoid it. Plain old gas and air and pethidine will suit me fine. Had an episiotomy and ventouse delivery with ds, hope to avoid that this time!

trix1 · 11/07/2006 13:25

Hi everyone, trying to catch up with you all, qucik queston -someone mentioned below about the dr brown bottles - do you think they are much better than avent if so I will bring all my boxed avent ones back and get the dr browns I had a nightmare with the winding last time and if i could do anything to minimise that again I would.

YellowFeathers · 11/07/2006 13:28

It was me trix.

Dr Browns were fab. The only bad thing you can say about them is that you have the extra vent thing inside the bottles to deal with but thats nothing compared to a screaming baby with trapped wind!

eenywifemum · 11/07/2006 13:29

Thanks for replying on the thread Yellow, and also for you two cents Booby. I am leaning towards a foam with a waterproof cover.

Yellow do you know what your triggers are now? Its being left alone, isnt it? I hope it goes away on its own when your baby comes! Hormones are a bitch.

booby glad things seem to be settling down with your parents!

bursting, hope your baby isnt breech! good luck!

and trix! I dont know about the Dr. Brown thing! I am hoping avent are fine, I am breastfeeding but have avent so Sal can feed sometimes as well.

olivo · 11/07/2006 13:40

YF - i had CBT a few years ago to deal with an anxiety problem - it did work and even now when I have 'moments' I can usually pull myself round - definitely consider it.

Eeny - we have bought a sprung matress - didnt really think about it, to be honest, but its for a cotbed so i guess it'll be used for a few years. Am intending to use the pampers dry mats under it rather than a whole waterproof thing but dont know how effective that'll be.

booby - my antenatal class on breast feeding actually suceeded in putting me off quite a lot - not quite their aim, me thinks!! I'm going to try and give it a go though but will have plenty of bottles and formula on standby.

Arabica · 11/07/2006 13:45

Babieseverywhere don't worry, I don't even know where the bag I'm to take to hospital has gone, let alone what to put in it. I'm packing 3: an overnight one for DS in case he has to go to a friend's in a hurry; a bag for baby stuff which is easy because it will only contain clothes, nappies, cotton wool and a pack of muslins (they don't need anything else do they??), and a bag for me with my comedy Primark nightwear & big pants, flip-flops, homeopathic post-C-section meds, a novel (haha) lots of maternity pads and a gi-normous bra or 3 (Booby, am going to try and top your L but I don't think I'll get beyond H).
36+6!!!!

YellowFeathers · 11/07/2006 13:49

Arabica, lol at a novel
Planning on getting some peace and quiet while your there?

Olivo, I'm glad you said that.
I'm not a tablet/pill taker fan so anything that I can do to help otherwise will be brilliant.
I'll have a word with the MW tomorrow but no doubt I'll need to see a GP about it.
Did it take long for you to be refered?

Arabica · 11/07/2006 13:54

The novel's for waiting around before my C-section in case I get bumped off the list! Although have been told this is unlikely to be for long as they have booked the special care team in for my birth and they don't like to keep them waiting around. Am imagining 50 people in the operating theatre.
OMG it's so sooooooooooon!!!!! 16 days!

Arabica · 11/07/2006 13:57

Article from the Guardian Re CBT

YellowFeathers · 11/07/2006 14:06

Am just reading it. Thanks Arabica

Arabica · 11/07/2006 15:08

Because I haven't aked the sex of my baby I have had to put up with all manner of speculation (usually from complete strangers) about what's inside my bump. Yesterday someone said that if you find yourself getting randy in the last trimester it means a boy, due to a surge of testosterone. Am wondering if anyone thinks there is any truth in this? I remember having quite a lot of erotic thoughts at the end of my last pregnancy and that was a boy...not that I had the energy to do anything about them, mind.

olivo · 11/07/2006 15:20

YF - when i was in England, i was put on mild anti-depressants twice which did seem to do the trick at the time- this was partly for mild depression and anxiety but I know am convinced it was actually S.A.D. When i came here, my anxiety picked up big style - more related to driving due to an accident i had a while before, but almost an obsessive 'what if' thing - i worried about everything going wrong . iw as reerred really quickly and havent had anti- depressants now in about 4 years so it must have worked. go for it, at least try - they may fast track you due to the baby etc.

sorry everyone for the long one there!!
re hospital bags - well, i have the bag but nothing to put in it

i will get organised, i will get organised......

PinkTulips · 11/07/2006 16:49

class wasn't as bad as with dd. as it was a refresher it was all women instead of couples so we were chatting way more, also the instructor didn't talk to us like idiots but took on board previous experiances. had tour of labour ward which brought back some nasty memories but all in all wasn't too bad. they've changed some of their practices since i had dd for the better (skin to skin contact after the birth for example) and the other things that were bothering me i was able to ask about and get some decent answers.

glad your hospital appointment went well Feathers

arabica, your making me sooo jealous you've got so little time to go now!

dreamydowler · 11/07/2006 17:40

Hi everyone how are you all? I have finally finished work althought being at home can be just as tiring. To answer your questions about how old my kids are my eldest daughter is 18 in August just before baby number 7 is due. I have spent all of last week shopping for a prom dress for her which we finally got friday a few hours before the event. She said it was all my felt as she has inherited my big boobs and some. She went to Thailand sunday morning with two of her friends for five weeks and the house seems quiet and tidier already but missing her loads. My second eldest daughter is 16 and is awaiting her gcse results before going back to 6th form to do a levels she is a good help when she isnt attatched at the hip to her boyfriend or at work My other daughter is 15 and we have taken to calling her kevin although she can be great too. I have a son who is 14 in september who has a love hate relationship with my 8 year old son they are always bickering then there is my three year old daughter who im pleased to say goes to nursery 5 afternoons a week from september. Anyway my pregnancy has gone reasonably well this time round I had my second glucose tolerence test last week and was promptly sick after swallowing the sweet sickly stuff they give you to drink on an empty stomache I had to go back to the hospital yesterday for a pelvic belt to be fitted as i have had a few pains. My sister had her baby a boy on Sunday he was a whopping 9lb 12oz. My last little girl was 9lb 1oz so expecting a whopper aswell this time Im glad the weather has cooled as my ankles were like balloons. Anyway enough about me how is everyone doing?
