muminaquandary · 06/07/2006 21:59

well done to the booby!

PinkTulips · 06/07/2006 22:22

good news booby, glad your getting what you want and have such a helpful mw

Snow, you're freaking me out now as i'm also measuring ahead and convinced my scan dates are wrong and keep comparing this preg to last time and remembering feeling like this right before birth so will be watching with interest to see if you pop! (bought myself pineapple juice today in aldi ). coincidentally, can't remember who asked but the lack of appetite thing was one of the symptoms i got the week before going into labour!

does eveyone else with older kids have childcare sorted.. because i really don't and am completely panicing. my mother has offered to drive down and mind her but she lives 1.5-2 hours away and can be less than helpful at times so not happy relying on her completely. problem is dd isn't used to being left with anyone so we don't really have anyone else... at the moment it's looking like a definite possibility that dp could miss the birth and i'm seriously stressing.

eenywifemum · 06/07/2006 22:26

booby well done!! I am really happy for you - you sound very relieved!

luna - that is so funny Sal and I do the same thing AND with the same evian bottle that you described!! I HAVE to have water ice cold and we keep it in the freezer too, plus loads in the fridge!

BigHotMama · 07/07/2006 09:55

Morning everyone, its my last Friday at work for a long time now and it feels great!!!

Booby glad your getting your C-sect chick, you seem happy & more positive about things now!

Thanks for advice ladies on hospital bag do's n dont's! Have adjusted my list now in case of C/sect and extra non-itchy pants! What fab idea about freezing chocolate and water! Never would have thought of that! Was thinking of getting a mini cooler bag from Woolworths to keep em cool too. Purple, I hadnt even give DH's friends and family a thought re phone numbers - how awful of me? Will get onto that one straight away!

Hope everyone else is ok and thank god the weather seems to be cooling down x

Arabica · 07/07/2006 10:10

Booby, am so, so pleased for you. It's great to be listened to and taken seriously. If your consultant agrees to the section it might be that I am out of hospital before you go for your op so if you want to know I will be able to tell you all about what to expect--am sure there are bits I have forgotten from last time.

Pervy me doesn't like ice-cold water! However when labouring with DS the only thing that brought any relief before I gratefully received my epidural needle, was a cold packsomeone had bought it for DH years before as a joke present and it's like a medium hot-water bottle with the words 'hangover cure' in big letters on the front!! We filled it with ice-cubes on the way to hosp. I don't think they had anything as sophisticated as an ice-machine at our hospital. I also hated the itchy paper pants. I've bought big comedy old lady high-waist pants from Primarkthey need to be high enough to cover the C-section scar. They didn't have 1 size up left so bought size 20!!!!! I don't think DH will ever fancy me again.
I'm off to hospital again today--another anti-D injection & a meeting with the obs/gynae consultant to finalise arrangements for the birth, I might meet the neurologist as well to hear about the post-birth investigations.
Right essay over it's time to put feet up before getting bus to hospital.
Phwooar, Nadal is playing today--his face isn't so great but what a bod.

Arabica · 07/07/2006 10:21

OK, forget sctions v vag births, neurologists etc..here's the really important issue of the day Am going to have my first ever bikini wax, eeeeek! When's the best day to have that--should I wait until day before section? I have quite sensitive skin and sometimes when I get my eyebrows done it's itchy afterwards. I'm not very hairy and the only time I've ever even had a shave was before my first section and it itched like a bitch!

SherlockLGJ · 07/07/2006 10:24

Arabica

Delighted to see you here, have been afraid to ask, as your were posting as Arabica as opposed to DecafArabica.

PinkTulips · 07/07/2006 10:46

no idea re the bikini wax arabica, wouldn't have the guts myself, i'm a shaver, prefer the itch to some teenager in a white coat chewing gum and slowly torturing my most intimite areas!

forgot to say last night about hospital bag, pack some calendula cream for cuts or tears as it works wonders. and don't forget your going home cloths as asking dh/p to bring you in stuff is a huge no-no, dp brought me such bad cloths last time i had to wear my maternity pants home and they were too loose and kept trying to fall down!

Arabica · 07/07/2006 10:48

I dropped the decaf--needed to be at my full strength to deal with the trials of being pg!!
Have you got any bikini wax advice for me?

Arabica · 07/07/2006 10:50

PT Luckily I have a mature, non gum-chewing beautician or my bits would be staying firmly in their size 20 grannypants.

BigHotMama · 07/07/2006 11:32

Arabica, I have occasional bikini waxes and find it best to have it done 2 days before event. Sometimes bits of wax are hard to shift at first and end up sticking to your pants. Also I find my waxed area often bleeds a little and feels tender for the 1st day or so

olivo · 07/07/2006 11:40

morning all. having a shocking day and have already been in tears twice - not good in a busy secondary school i can assure you!have only felt the baby move once this morning so am furiously eating cereal bars in an attempt to wake it up - mind you, it probably thinks its in trouble and doesnt dare move as I'v been shouting so much.

am fed up of people telling me 'it looks like it'll arrive early' and 'you'll never make it throught he last two weeks of term' - i wish they'd all just sod off and leave me to it, rather than saying that and still giving me extra work to sort out.

OMG, i'm ranting sorry - much easier to sound off anonymously. meant to be going out to celebrate our second wedding anniverasry tonight but it doesnt look like I'll be a bundle of laughs... dh must be fed up of me.

PinkTulips · 07/07/2006 11:48

olivo, it's frustrating when people say that stuff isn't it? my dp and family keep doing it to me....'i can't imagine you've got a month left' and 'i'm sure that baby is coming in the next week'. they mean well and dp is just trying to make me feel better as he knows how much agony i'm in but it just winds me up as it makes the last stretch seem even longer. try and ignore them (impossible i know) and have a really lovely night with dh tonight. i'm sure he doesn't mind your mood one bit, he'd have to be blind not to understand how exhausting and stressful all this is for you and would probably give anything to be able to cheer you up at the moment.

olivo · 07/07/2006 11:58

I feel doubly bad as dh is just starting to get excited about it all ( I never thought he'd admit to it!) and I'm putting a dampner on it all by getting stressy. he's just emailed me to say the pushchair and car seat etc have arrived - when i told a colleague, all i got was ' oh, so you're well equipped for an early arrival then?
have to confess though, i cant wait to get home and unpack them [ wink]

YellowFeathers · 07/07/2006 12:13

I'M BACK!

I've missed you all soooooo much, lol!

I'm going to try and catch up but knowing how you lot gab on it may take a while

Hope your all ok.

purpleturtle · 07/07/2006 12:27

Yay! We've missed you. Am off to read the morning's posts now.

PinkTulips · 07/07/2006 12:28

YAY! was wondering how you were getting on babe

how was the move? is the new house fantastic? have you met your new mw's yet?

pucca · 07/07/2006 12:31

pucca · 07/07/2006 12:32

this

purpleturtle · 07/07/2006 12:34

Booby, I'm so glad you saw a reasonable MW. Hope the consultant is just as co-operative. Oooh, just think, you'll be another one with the luxury of being able to plan ahead! Every so often I have to remind myself that there's no guarantee my baby will turn up on 27 August - in fact, it could turn up almost a month before if it wanted to freak me out. I just can't imagine not going 2 weeks over.

eenywifemum · 07/07/2006 12:37

Hi!! YF welcome back!!!! It's great to see you!

Pucca I just started reading your other thread - I like how right away you get asked why you are having an elective section! I'm sorry but that is just not the time!

pucca · 07/07/2006 12:38

Eeny...I know lol, thought it was just me being touchy must admit did get my back up a little pmsl

PinkTulips · 07/07/2006 12:41

how are you feeling now pucca? if your still sore do go see you mw just to be on the safe side.

eenywifemum · 07/07/2006 12:41

no it was NOT you being touchy!! I was annoyed as soon as I saw that. And then she said that thing about how horrible it was for her friend. I'm sorry what a bitchy thing to say in that situation. Wish I'd been up I like to think I would have NOT been a pain to talk to! How are you feeling now? What is your assessment now? Do you think it was BH?

eenywifemum · 07/07/2006 12:43

Yellow how was the move? How is the house?? Do tell!

Olivo I am so sorry you are having a rough day! I would feel frustrated about all that too. AND I was very similar on Sal's bday last weekend, and felt really bad about it. It's hard to be super woman! I'm sure your DH will understand! Anyway when you get home and look at your new baby things I bet it will perk you right up!
