Morning all.

Good luck today Saggy. Will be thinking of you x

Rock that sucks. Paracetamol only unfortunately, though you are allowed certain lozenges if they help at all?

I don't weigh myself either, but I was weighed at booking and then again for the nuchal test, so i only know from that. I'd rather not know my weight normally Grin

I think it's the scientist in me that finds birth so amazing loser

Ladies, can I ask for some advice? How are people sleeping? I was sleeping like a log until the last few weeks. Now I find I can't get comfy at all. I normally sleep on my tummy, but now it's uncomfortable. I never sleep on my back normally, but I keep finding myself asleep on my back. I know you aren't meant to do that, but how much of a problem is it at 13+3?

Rockchick1984 · 19/09/2013 09:59

Maybe you are ok on your back at this stage. As you get bigger your uterus will press on a main vein if you lie on your back - wont hurt the baby but will send your head spinning! I'm 16 weeks and just starting to notice it, but only after lying on my back for a good 15-20 mins. Have you got a pregnancy pillow, I find that keeping it between my knees stops me lying on my back.

FrankelInFoal · 19/09/2013 10:01

NoMaybe, what you need is one of these

I've been using mine since about 9 weeks and it is fabulous! Highly recommend getting one.

AbiBub · 19/09/2013 10:04

Morning! Im thinking back to when ds was born, and I think I actually got my mum to take a pic of my fru fru after the registra had stitched me up just so I knew where the scar was in relation to down there as im just not that bendy!! I cant remember whether she took any photos of birth but id think not as they wanted to get the poor little dude out, back to back labour no fun for anyone!!

pirate thats just crap you're back on meds, im trying not to take what they gave me because it made me feel more ill. There the dissolving ones! Yuk! I hope yours settles down soon lovely!

Still haven't checked my weight gain, might do that after the tesco delivery is been and gone! :0)

saggy hope all goes ok today. Sending positive vibes and big hugz your way. x

Rockchick1984 · 19/09/2013 10:13

I have this pillow and its fab! Also can't go wrong with the price :)

MummyPig24 · 19/09/2013 10:15

Finally got my 16 week appt booked for 30th September.

rescoonetwothree · 19/09/2013 10:50

Good luck everyone with appointments today!

I have my antenatal screening then gender scan next Monday, and 16 week midwife appointment next Wednesday. It really is like waiting for a bus!

FoxMulder · 19/09/2013 11:08

I was reading that to help with indigestion you need to prop yourself up on pillows, but then you're not supposed to lie on your back...you can't win! Unless you have a marvellously bendy spine and you can prop yourself up sideways.

As for birth videos, well I've still not steeled myself to watch back my wedding video, which was 2 years ago, so I'll probably give a birth video a miss Smile

Ugh, I feel crappy today. Knackered. Sick. Don't want to be at work.

babybear9 · 19/09/2013 11:11

at home waiting to go to 16 wk apptn in half an hour. call from work collegue to let me know some sad new and not,to come in,later.. guy at work expecting his first any day, spent yestrrday chatting to him about, he was showing me some tiny clothes he'd got at lunch. wife went into labour last night, they had complications and lost the baby. so so sad. absolutely heartbroken for them.

HotCrossPun · 19/09/2013 11:29

Foxy I'm a bit obsessed with birthing videos at the mo.

I was Shock at one.

Fast forward (if you dare!!) to 14 minutes to see her give birth on a yoga mat in the middle of a lake Grin

BadlyWrittenPoem · 19/09/2013 11:50

I think lying on your back only matters if it causes you discomfort due the vein that can be squashed. Last time even at thirty something weeks I used to wake up on my back and it never caused me any problems. (Although it could be why DD2 stayed back to back until after I went into labour.)

SoSurprised · 19/09/2013 11:54

Rock Ice I think the hospital has got my dates wrong as my notes put me at due date 3 March and at 17+4 weeks Confused

Babybear09 that's tragic :(

NoMaybeAboutIt · 19/09/2013 11:57

Oh Baby that is just so sad Sad

Thanks for the sleeping advice everyone. I was panicking that I would reduce bloody supply to the baby, but you've put my mind at rest. Will be purchasing a pillow on pay day Smile. Frankel that looks amazing! Though I fear they'd be no room in bed for DH Wink

Rockchick1984 · 19/09/2013 11:58

So they have definitely done something wrong Confused I'd ring your midwife and check which bit has been screwed up - hopefully they've put down the wrong due date and you're actually a week ahead!

FoxMulder · 19/09/2013 11:59

Hot I do not dare! 1) because I am at work and 2) I just can't watch anything to do with births anymore. They frighten me too much! Head firmly in the sand here.

Prambo · 19/09/2013 12:15

Rock, my due date is 1st March yet I believe I am 16+5 today. Am I wrong?

Hottie, I watched the video and wondered how on earth she didn't get cramp from squatting. I love the squatting position (I watch telly like that often) and quite fancy giving birth like that.

Maybe, I'm sleeping so well; 10 or 11 hours a night. I'm too breathless to sleep on my back anymore (boo!) but I drift off very easily on my side.

Good luck today, Frank. I'm off to see my baby again at 3.30. Can't wait! Grin

FoxMulder · 19/09/2013 12:22

My understanding is that your due date is when you are 40 weeks. So get a calendar out and start counting!

Squatting is good. When I was backpacking in SE Asia it was mostly squat toilets, which was a bit worrying at first, but actually it's a much better way to do a poo.

I'm getting my sofa today! Also can't wait!

Rockchick1984 · 19/09/2013 12:29

Pram I may have got the number of days wrong (I lose track lol) but its definitely 16+something if first few days in March :)

commsgirl · 19/09/2013 12:41

Baby that is so so sad :(

Rockchick1984 · 19/09/2013 12:43

Whoops.... I'm 16+5 today, and due date is 1st not 2nd of march Blush I'm blaming pregnancy hormones and my cold Grin so So that would put you at 16+3 :)

rescoonetwothree · 19/09/2013 12:50

Baby that's so sad - at least those at work have let you know, imagine how horrible you'd have felt if you hadn't been told - Thanks for your colleague x

Anyone with date worries could you use a daily pregnancy calendar - I've found it so useful just type into google

I watched a YouTube of someone giving birth to the placenta and that has scared me more than the thought of birth - actually heaving.

on phone so if I've missed any big news or anything, sorry!

MummyPig24 · 19/09/2013 12:56

Baby that is so sad.

I'm so tired today and I've really hurt my Achilles' tendon, by doing absolutely nothing, so it's painful to walk now. I'm not having a good day, I don't feel good.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 19/09/2013 12:57

Grey what scared you? With DD1 they pulled it out (which they weren't supposed to and is highly dangerous when you are supposed to be having a physiological third stage and haven't had the injection for active management) but with DD2 I had a natural third stage and all that happened was that after about ten minute I started having contractions again but milder and less frequent and then about half an hour later it just plopped out.

rescoonetwothree · 19/09/2013 13:03

poem I don't really know its just so gory haha! Oh god that sounds horrible!

Do not watch if squeamish:

(Whispers) I'm getting mine made into tablets Blush
