Hi all, been off for a few days, working and sleeping mostly; just felt completely wiped out for the last few days. Feeling slightly more normal now though.

saggy, hope it goes well tomorrow, I know we'll all be thinking of you.

prambo, I've put on about half a stone. I'm 13 + 2, so most of it is chocolate and bloating...

Coolhand · 18/09/2013 23:46

That's the problem with maternity shapes as well - I'm all bump - I was last time as well - it would be impossible for anyone not to realise I'm pregnant - normal body shape, followed by very distinct bump which every random stranger feels the need to tell me is so cute or even touch. With some others, it's much less distinct/obvious to tell - some will carry lots of fluid, others not.

So best not to compare....that way madness lies!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 18/09/2013 23:47

Well actually, and going against the grain, having had 2 DCs already and never getting to see the 'good bits', I would be more than happy with DP taking pictures or video of the birth. I would love to see what happens down at the business end!
And, When I had DS and was young and my relationship with DP was a bit rocky, my Mum was also at the birth. She was a pillar of strength and asked to be present again when DD was born, so it cant have been too disgusting for her.
This time around, DS17 and DD14 will be given the option of being present, all going well. Its entirely their choice, but again, I don't see the problem. Im having a baby, not a huge shit! Birth is a miracle. There is nothing repulsive about it.

x0gawjus0x · 19/09/2013 06:31

I lost half a stone when i was sick about 12 weeks in and ive put exactly the same bk on so i am my starting weight now! 11.4 stone althou i am 5'9 and dp is 6'2 so im guessin a big baby is on its way not to mention he has 3 brothers who all have boys so im guessing boy too lol.

Wonder77 · 19/09/2013 06:41

I am not getting on scales till 3 months after baby is born. Would rather not know! Going to give in to increasing size and enjoy, particularly as this will be my last. Life is too short to worry about weight when you're pregnant - we obsess enough about it the rest of our lives. Enjoy your cake is what I say ladies. X

x0gawjus0x · 19/09/2013 07:02

I agree with you wonder I eat whatever I crave and lotsssss of it Blush minus the pate...

FrankelInFoal · 19/09/2013 07:14

Hope all goes well today Saggy

Rockchick1984 · 19/09/2013 07:16

I'm dying of man flu!!! Sad Sad Sad DS wasn't well the last couple of days, I had an early night last night, and woke up this morning full of it! Also can't remember what (if anything) is safe to take so only had paracetamol so far!

RaspberrysAndIcecream · 19/09/2013 07:16

Thinking of u 2day Saggy. Good Luck!!

IceNoSlice · 19/09/2013 07:18

Beccadugs I feel like you at the moment- feel like I just look flabby and the clothes situation depresses me.

Just been on the scales. I'm not telling you my actual weight (it sounds enormous but I'm 5'10" so BMI is fine!) but I have put on 8lbs. Pretty MOR I think?

Eek 17+1! (yes, I'm a Febber but you ain't getting rid of me. Eight threads is too much to invest!

Good luck Saggy. Are we all done with dating scans now?

PiratesMam · 19/09/2013 07:34

Ice 17+ weeks! You lucky thing - I'm 16 weeks today and seriously wishing it away at the moment in the futile hope the sickness subsides. Was trying to remember how long I was sick for with DD - my mum thinks it was 18 weeks. Gawd!!

saggy good luck today x

mummy you poor thing! I think paracetamol is all we can take - definitely can't take ibuprofen. I think we can use Vicks vapour rub too, I hope so anyway as I've been slathering it on with this cold I have!

Hoping everyone has a good day today. I've struck a deal with DH this morning that he does kid's breakfast so I can get up slowly - doing their breakfast makes me sick! Am back on the meds Sad

FrankelInFoal · 19/09/2013 08:14

Rock, that sucks. Sadly I think paracetamol is all you can take. You can try natural things like a slice of lemon and spoonful of honey in boiling water to drink.

I've got my 16w appointment this afternoon so really hoping I get to hear the avocado's heartbeat Grin

gawjus, how are things at home? Have you told your parents yet and is DP behaving himself? Sorry if I've missed an update, this thread moves so fast!

MummyPig24 · 19/09/2013 08:24

My clothes still fit so I guess I am the same or have lost a bit. That won't last though if my ravenous appetite the last few days is anything to go by. I'm going to be seriously upset if I can't get hot cross buns in the co op this morning. I'm so tired and cold and hungry. Dh said when he left this morning "don't do anything, just rest." But it's boring doing nothing!! Now because I haven't eaten I feel sick. Might have an emergency banana to keep me going. I'm not going to worry too much about weight gain. I gained a stone last pregnancy so I hope I won't gain more than two this time. Most of it does come off after the birth but your body shape totally changes.

As for the births, ds was normal, but quite long. Dd shot out with her arm up like super girl too pirates, she was in a hurry after waiting 6 days after her due date to grace us with her presence.

SoSurprised · 19/09/2013 08:37

Best of luck today Saggy, will be thinking of you.

Ice how are you a febber? I am 17+4 and my due date is 3 March

BadlyWrittenPoem · 19/09/2013 08:51

Weight gain - I've gained 7lbs which I'm really pleased with as before I got pregnant I was losing crazy amounts of weight (was seeing my GP about it) and usually I lose in the first trimester. I get consultant care due to low BMI though so I'm "supposed" to gain more weight than average.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 19/09/2013 08:58

Becca, they aren't supposed weigh people routinely through pregnancy these days so MW should only weigh you after booking if there's a particular reason. Mine weighed me part way through my first pregnancy because I was still throwing up all the time and she wanted to check that I was actually gaining weight.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 19/09/2013 09:04

Rock you cant have man flu. You are a woman. You have bird flu. Grin

BadlyWrittenPoem · 19/09/2013 09:08

I mainly weigh myself because I'm worried about weight loss/not gaining weight - comes from losing a stone in a week in my first pregnancy.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 19/09/2013 09:15

It's interesting that it seems to be more the people who've given birth before who are favourable towards photo taking and those who haven't who aren't. I know before I had my first I thought it was weird and wondered why anyone would want birth photos/videos but having given birth (and especially since my second which was a much more positive experience) I think it would be really interesting to see and the only reason I'm not going to is because other things are more important to me at the time I am giving birth than my interest in seeing what it looks like.

SoSurprised · 19/09/2013 09:15

I haven't gained any yet. My midwife wasn't concerned. My appetite has increased dramatically though. So I am expecting to put on weight now.

HotCrossPun · 19/09/2013 09:16

Saggy We will all be thinking about you today, hope everything goes well Thanks

Rockchick1984 · 19/09/2013 09:20

So you are 16+4 not 17+4, sorry! I'm 16+5 due 2nd March!

IceNoSlice · 19/09/2013 09:28

Hi SoSurprised - sorry I think Rock is right. I just checked my dates again. Due 26th Feb so 17+1 today.

justmuddlingthroughit · 19/09/2013 09:28

That's a good point, BWP; this is my first, and I feel a bit weirded out by the thought of someone taking a photo of my foof. For one thing, I don't particularly like the thought of seeing it mysel, plus the only people allowed to see it at any time would be DH and medical professionals, so I'd be terrified at the thought of anyone else, even my mum, seeing a picture of it!
Having said that, I am the youngest of four, and my mum tells me that when I was being born, the midwife held up a mirror so that she could watch me being born. She says it was amazing to watch, as it was the only time she had been able to see what was happening, and as I was definitely going to be the last she said it made it really special. Still don't think I want to see mine though...of course I may change my mind...
