Old thread

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Pirates, I'm like you - I'm really looking forward to giving birth this time after a lovely second birth (first was less good but only because of treatment by hospital staff - there weren't any actual real complications). Ever since then I've been jealous of people about to give birth and I would totally rather give birth every day for nine months than be pregnant.

Coolhand · 18/09/2013 21:16

On baby shows, never been to one but remember people on my last thread being really excited and then saying it was crap and the 'freebies' weren't great either.

Like others, I'm not much of a shopper - that said whoever mentioned the fact that they discount loads of stuff at the end made it sound much more appealing.

PiratesMam · 18/09/2013 21:19

Any type of exhibition shopping makes me totally exhausted, even when I'm not pregnant. I don't have the stamina!

Prambo · 18/09/2013 21:21

My posts at 17.41 and 17.42 were clearly written as HotCrosssPun was posting hers. I was not responding to anyone at that point except you, Jolls who had already declared: 'During one of the births, the OH took photographs of the 'business end' when the baby's head was out...what the actual fuck!?! I am absolutely horrified by this...

Coolhand · 18/09/2013 21:23

Sorry, doing lots of tiny updates to avoid mega post. Had 16 week appnt yesterday.

All was fine, found h/b easily, size bang on dates etc. I'm also in the bad lower back pain club/real pain in bed/pain walking for long periods (though no cracks Jolls). Pillow making no difference whatsoever - have ditched the heels for work. I was about 36 weeks when this all kicked in last time and was walking 7 miles a day at full term. Mentioned it to m/w and she said, normal pregnancy symptoms. I'm just going to monitor and see how it progresses.

Prambo · 18/09/2013 21:26

Is anyone else prepared to share their weight gain up to this point?

Prambo · 18/09/2013 21:28

Great news about your scan, Coolhand. Are you worried about these pains seeing as they've come early this time?

Total, I winced horribly reading of your amnio. I hope it's the happiest news for you.

MummyPig24 · 18/09/2013 21:28

pram, jolls, calm it down, let's not have our first Martians tiff!

I finally got to the end of midwives. That poor girl who kept getting sent home had a good birth in the end. I liked the calm, Ukrainian midwife, I hope I get one like that!

I'm still hungry, my back hurts, I'm tired, kids have turned practically feral... But... I'm having a baybee!

Jolleigh · 18/09/2013 21:29

Yes Pram. Followed by 'am I just being prissy?'

But this isn't the AIBU forums so I'm not about to sit here and argue. It's supposed to be a pleasant environment.

MummyPig24 · 18/09/2013 21:30

I haven't actually weighed myself pram, if we go to the in laws tomorrow I will weigh myself and let you know if I've gained.

Great news on the appt cool.

Coolhand · 18/09/2013 21:30

Right Jolls and Prambo - we love you both and we really hope you can patch this one up.

You're both opinionated and that's part of why we love you on this thread. It's also why you two, in turn, love each other's company and also can get rightly narked with each other. Neither of you do beige but there's room here for both of you.

Now that's it, I'm bowing out of this dispute because I'm beginning to sound patronising and I'm afraid of getting a blow to the head, crawls away in cowardly fashion

LyraSilvertongue · 18/09/2013 21:33

I'm dreading finding out how much weight I've gained. I've only been weighed once, at booking in. I have an appointment with the consultant on Friday so I guess I'll find out then.

Coolhand · 18/09/2013 21:33

Weight gain, I'll go check, back in 5 and might just stop for biscuit while at it

Total - hope you're resting up
Saggy thinking of you tomorrow

rescoonetwothree · 18/09/2013 21:35

pram i was about 85lbs (had a bit of a trauma and lost about a stone very quickly) so since finding out got up to my normal weight (about 95-100lbs) and have gained another half a stone-ish so am now about 105lbs

so I've effectively gained about 20lbs but i suppose after normal weight about half a stone or so. it's all relative i think though as i am noticeably quite a bit bigger than i was pre-trauma maybe because v small framed/low starting weight

PiratesMam · 18/09/2013 21:36

Half a stone here too.

HotCrossPun · 18/09/2013 21:37

I think the difficulty in a group like this is that there is always going to be somebody doing one aspect of pregnancy/labour completely differently than you. We all have different opinions and priorities.

There is a difference between choosing to do something differently and completely stomping all over somebody else's viewpoint and rubbishing it.

I'm not on here to argue with anybody. So far it has been a lovely, supportive place to share our experiences. So I'd rather not 'look away' from the thread. I'll just stick around, trying my best not to enrage anybody by photographing my birthing vagina! Grin

MummyPig24 · 18/09/2013 21:37

Total I really hope you get good news from the amnio.

Prambo · 18/09/2013 21:38

The reason I'm asking about weight is because I just read this on another forum:

'the standard advice of 'no weight gain in first trimester, 1 stone second trimester and 1 stone third trimester...' and this:

'you can expect to gain 1.5kg per week in the third trimester as baby starts getting fatter'

Shock
MummyPig24 · 18/09/2013 21:39

Hot you go ahead! If you want to take photos of that moment then snap away. I just wouldn't want to look at mine if there ever were photos, I can't imagine my bits with a baby emerging would look pretty! And now I really want a hot cross bun.

HotCrossPun · 18/09/2013 21:40
commsgirl · 18/09/2013 21:40

Weight gain - I lost a stone and since then I've put on a pound. Eating like a horse though so I imagine it won't be long before it starts creeping back on again. I've always had real issues with food and my weight so I'm really interested to hear what everyone else has lost/gained.

HotCrossPun · 18/09/2013 21:42

I've lost 4lbs. My appetite is starting to return though so that won't be the case for long!

Coolhand · 18/09/2013 21:42

Weight gain = 12 lbs

Oh and during m/w appnt I was told that due to cuts you are only provided with one pot to pee in for whole pregnancy. Told me to keep sterilising it in boiled water between appnts.

Dutifully tried that last night and the whole pot warped into a strange shape, with a bit of a bend and an oval shaped lid.

So I'm officially up the creek without a pot to piss in. She did suggest I try and steal some at my next hospital appnt

Prambo · 18/09/2013 21:42

Hottie, we keep crossing posts! I am sorry you felt I was rubbishing your choices. I really did cross posts with you at 17.41 and again a minute later and so didn't realise you had already declared your intentions to photograph the gory bits. Here, have these: Thanks

Now, if you'll excuse me I've got a shit I'd like to photograph coming out of my arse...

Grin
Happyhoppy · 18/09/2013 21:42

I'm 12+3 and have lost a kilo (sorry, I'm decimal!) so far, probably due to lack of appetite. My BMI is the higher end of normal.
