fox I know, serves no bloody purpose at all does it!! Im with you on the eating thing, if I dont I shout at the sink in technicolour waves of acid?! (Sorry if tmi) whats that all about?! I just am so fed up of feeling constantly nauseous, I dont do feeling sick very well, I literally burst into tears on my poor dp last night!! Worse thing is I still have to be functional enough to get our ds up and to school who is only part time atm so it's definitely hard going at the mo :0/ oh gosh I hope yours wears off very soon!!

FoxMulder · 18/09/2013 14:25

Don't know why I've been calling you Ali not Abi sorry!

Prambo · 18/09/2013 14:29

Just realised my morning sickness completely disappeared at 15+3 Smile

BadlyWrittenPoem · 18/09/2013 14:31

Heart beat - my trust has a policy of not listening for it at the 16 week appointment because it can be hard to get at that stage which then worries people needlessly.

Sickness - I expect mine to last the full nine months as it usually does but this is not normal and even most people with hyperemsis gravidarum don't have it all the way through.

I'm not really into the whole shopping thing either although bizarrely I do feel sad whenever I walk past maternity clothes and baby clothes sections that I've never been able to shop in them while pregnant. Which is silly as I'm not really into shopping but I hate having had the option taken away.

I have no piercings anywhere but BIL/SIL clearly haven't noticed as they've given me earrings for my birthday twice. Was quite embarrassing the second time as it was in person and I didn't really know what to say!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 18/09/2013 14:38

I had chair covers at my wedding Wink. And MrM is coming with me to the baby show Grin

Interesting link BWP. It sounds tricky!

Oh, and I normally don't like shopping either, most definitely not a 'let's go shopping with the girls' type.

Good news all round Raspberry!

AbiBub · 18/09/2013 14:41

Oh badlywritten thats awkward re: the earings thing!! Oh I hope that sickness doesnt last that long for you again :0/ thats crap!

pram there is hope for us sickies then with any luck! Phewf!

Thats ok fox you're not the only one whos done that and not only on this thread!! ; 0)

What can I eat...... plain mini poppadoms maybe?! Oh good god ive got the food shop to do, im thinking maybe onlining it!!, :0/

BadlyWrittenPoem · 18/09/2013 14:43

I don't find it tricky maybe but I've always done it so it's just normal to me. I actually think that conventional toilet training after two or three years of conventional nappying sounds tricky but I guess you just do what you do and whatever you do seems the most straightforward because you have experience.

FrankelInFoal · 18/09/2013 14:45

I'm sure the baby show will be the very seventh circle of hell, but I'm prepared to go along if it means bargains are to be had! Very often these things see a mass sell off of products at bargain prices on the last day as no one wants to have to take stock home Grin

LyraSilvertongue · 18/09/2013 14:46

Do you know how long it's taken me to read all these posts to catch up? Angry

So, some responses to old posts (sorry.

Fox, feeding lying down isn't so difficult. I did it all the time because the alternative was getting out of bed in the middle of the night When my babies were tiny and in a Moses basket beside my bed, I'd just reach over and lift them into bed with me. To bf lying down, you lay on your side with your arm tucked out of the way behind your head, put baby on their side facing you and just pop the boob in.

Saggy, will be thinking of you tomorrow.

I'd add to the baby essentials list scratch mitts (which my two would never keep on) or better still, baby nail clippers. My two were born with teeny tiny razors for fingers nails and constantly raked their faces with them. I had to send DP (at the time) out to Mothercare to get clippers while I was in hospital.

MMR: DS1 was born at the height of the controversy over the autism link and we read lots of conflicting information so to be on the safe side we paid for single vaccines. Bloody expensive but gave us a bit of peace of mind at the time.

Spd: When I was pg with DS1 my GP at the time dismissed it as "the aches and pains of pregnancy" so I never got any treatment and it got quite bad. I didn't have it as badly with DS2 but I still got twinges around the time of my period for at least a year afterwards.

Hotcross, what an evil witch your midwife was. Did she also puff out her cheeks while telling you what a fatty you are? Angry in your behalf Angry

DP's back at work today (boo) hence why I've had the time to catch up. We only had yesterday to spend together but it was lovely Smile There's nobody I'd rather spend time with. We just did usual stuff, lunch out, watching films, went out for a bit in the evening once DC were despatched to their dad's. He brought me lots of lovely presents and Turkish sweets for the boys, which are so sticky they glued their teeth together Grin
For those of you with dirty minds Wink we only did it twice. It wasn't that that I was missing so much really, it was more the cuddles and kisses and general affection. We tend to be very tactile with each other. He still can't kiss me properly because his gum is full of stitches and quite painful. Ah, I'm so happy to have him home after all the crap XP has been heaping upon me Smile Smile

Right, got stuff to do. ttfn.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 18/09/2013 14:47

Thanks Abi, I won't mind so much if it does last all the way this time as (thanks to ondansetron) it's loads better than previous times. I have a big gap between DD1 and DD2 as we waited due to how ill I was in my first pregnancy and there's no way I would ever have been able to look after a toddler while my husband is at work in my other pregnancies so this is absolutely amazing. (This was an unexpected pregnancy - I'd have to be insane to plan such a short gap without knowing I could get decent medical treatment.)

Imeg · 18/09/2013 14:50

I'm 16 + 2 and was sick again yesterday - I'd had a few days of just nausea without sickness so was hoping it was on the way out but maybe not. Have finally put a little bit of weight back on though - had lost quite a bit.

Also had a midwife appointment today and she found the heartbeat after a bit of searching. Just to balance out some of the negative experiences, I've got on well with her so far.

I have also wondered about the evolutionary benefits of morning sickness/first trimester tiredness - I think there must be some benefit otherwise it wouldn't be so common. My guess is that in cavewomen times, it was a way of stopping us overdoing it in the early stages when we probably wouldn't have known we were pregnant. Maybe the women who were throwing up in the morning would have been left behind from the mammoth hunt and so were less likely to get injured?

FoxMulder · 18/09/2013 14:50

Nowt wrong with fellas going to baby shows Marbie. I mean, he'll be using the pram/nappies/whatever else too! DH was just relating to me last night a conversation about prams he had at work with a colleague who has a baby. It's maybe not what you'd expect 2 builders to be talking about (but he got some good advice!).

But as for the chair covers this, I might hold that against you! Grin. Nah, I guess they're just for people with more style than me. Which is everybody.

Abi I have a nephew called Ali and when he was a baby we called him Alibub.

Also, I have not been able to do food shopping (even of the online variety) for ages now. I just can't think about food. But I can certainly eat it!

FoxMulder · 18/09/2013 14:55

But meg what happens when the sabre tooth tiger comes to get you and you feel so retched that you decide it is better to get eaten to put you out of your misery? Grin

FoxMulder · 18/09/2013 14:56

Lyra Thanks for another thumbs up for lying down breastfeeding.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 18/09/2013 15:06

I breastfed mine for a total of 2.5 years. Lying down is great! Its comfy, you can have a little doze, and different positions put emphasis on different parts of the breast, meaning that they can help if you have a blockage or mastitis. A different position can help with latch problems too. Once mine were bigger I used to bring them into b

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 18/09/2013 15:07

...into bed, get them attached and leave them to it! Nowadays my tits are so saggy I can just lop one over into the cot and they wont even need to move! Grin

FoxMulder · 18/09/2013 15:16

This is all good news. My mum was so confused by the idea (and she fed all 3 of us). She seemed to think you have to be sitting up in that traditional position.

FoxMulder · 18/09/2013 15:17

How are you today anyway, Saggy?

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 18/09/2013 15:20

Pottering along. Tomorrow is nearly here.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 18/09/2013 15:43

Will be thinking of you Saggy

Thanks forgetting me off Fox Wink

Sorry you're still feeling rough Imeg

That makes total sense BWP. I'm also glad the ondansetron is working for you.

Lyra so pleased you have MrL back. You sound so much better for it Smile

AbiBub · 18/09/2013 15:51

badlywritten thank god you have meds!! Glad you are getting through the most if it ok!!

imeg the cave woman concept actually makes sense in a way!! Good thinking!

fox awwww cute name for your nephew! I still havent got round to food shop!! (Doh!)

MummyPig24 · 18/09/2013 15:58

Abi my nausea eased by week 13. I'm 14+4 and feeling almost normal. Except I'm starving all the time today. There hasn't been a moment where I've felt full.

Dd has taken 30 minutes to eat one slice of toast. It's painful to watch and now there are crumbs everywhere. She's so slow and messy, but very cute!

I went to the baby show in 2009, it was hot, it was crowded, the tube/train journey was hellish. I bought a breast pump which I ended up hating and using only a handful of times. I did buy a widgey pillow though which we still have and love.

Prambo · 18/09/2013 16:10

Hiya, Lyra.

I'm very pleased to report that, for now, my weight gain has ceased at 12lb (since my BFP).

Marbie, I'm sorry for dissing chair covers. Different strokes..I've seen your wedding pics and you have stunning taste.

Prambo · 18/09/2013 16:13

MTB, can you please take a day off work and do our spreadsheet? Or do I have to do it myself?

NoMaybeAboutIt · 18/09/2013 16:48

Grin Prambo, don't be daft. And I'm not sure about me having good taste either....Wink

I think I've lost around 10 pounds in the last few weeks, hoping to put some on soon....
