jol one fibrogel tip, not sure if anyone's said, but get the orange flavoured one and mix it with orange juice or strong orange squash and just down it as soon as you mix it or it goes a bit weird, i found it tasted fine like this!

f&t message me your fb link and ill add you to the fb!

jol & pram if you hang out please tell us the tales of your debacles!

Prambo · 17/09/2013 12:06

Jolls, I can't photograph the hottie as he is dressed like an astronaut with all the protective shit all around his head like a goldfish bowl. I caught him stripped-down having his elevenses, it would seem.

Sorry for all the cluster posts but I am bored. F&T, I have nothing to say about faceless facebookers.

rescoonetwothree · 17/09/2013 12:07

oh and in house news we found a perfect house, but she won't even consider us because we're 'self employed' despite the fact our contracts are extremely secure and i imagine we are better suited financially to the property than those she will accept because they work for someone else, apparently she is a bit particular so its perhaps lucky she won't let us haha!

faithfulandtruthful · 17/09/2013 12:07

Fox You can get (if you have the space in your bedroom that is) full sized cots which you can set at bed height, for co sleeping but then turn into a standard stand alone cot for when they are bigger. Like I say though it depends if you've got the space in your bedroom for a full sized cot! Also the MW should help you with establishing BF so if you say you want to try and feed lying down they should be able to help you with that. Hell, I'm going to give it a go, I'll be your lying down breast feeding buddy! My Mum gives me two weeks of co sleeping before our baby is in its own cot... I'm studiously ignoring her!

FoxMulder · 17/09/2013 12:08

That's alright Pram I'll take any opportunity to complain about my wage Smile

New sofa is a big corner sofa that I can lie down on! It is fabric and dark coloured (incase of baby puke). I could send you a link, but it looks shit on the website so I don't want to show it! It's not THE most glamorous sofa in the world, but we had to make a decision between looks and comfort. And it's a huge improvement on the current tiny one we got from freecycle many years ago (and was fit for the skip about a decade ago)

FoxMulder · 17/09/2013 12:15

F&T it gets increasingly confusing! I've not seen a full-sized bedside cot. My DH reckons he can convert a normal one into a bedside, but I'm not sure I should trust him! We could probably get one in our room if we moved the bed around. Don't they prefer being in something small at first anyway, to feel all cocooned? I don't suppose you can know until they're here. Which makes buying in advance rather difficult.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 17/09/2013 12:16

Hi everyone. Just skim read the thread and I am really glad to hear about all of the great scan news and other lovely stuff that's been going on.
Life here hasn't been so rosy. I think I mentioned when I popped in last, forgive me if Ive already told the whole story that at my scan the babies nuchal measurement was high. Well Ive since had the results of the bloods back, and combined with my age and the measurement, I have a 1 in 5 risk for Down's, which is the highest risk given. We are off to London on Thursday for an amnio. I have never been so worried terrified in my life! But have managed to work through the initial panic into not thinking about it. Only tomorrow to get through now. I am hanging onto the fact that 1 in 5 still means that there is an 80% chance that everything is ok.

BNmum · 17/09/2013 12:18

I hope you are feeling better jolls, try the fybogel then once you've cleaned your pipes out eat dried apricots on a regular basis (other dried fruit probs works just as well). My best friend is a consultant and she was always on at me during my last pregnancy to eat dried apricots 'to stop my arse from falling out'. Apparently she was sick to death of looking at prolapsed arses of pregnant women Shock. I didn't argue and I'm happy to report my arse didn't fall out, I'd totally forgotten abut it all until I read your post so I'll have to pop to the shops this afternoon to stock up.

fox I sat up or lay down in bed, it was too cold to get out. I would eat if I felt tired and struggled to stay awake in the early days. Biscuits and malteasers can be eaten at any time of the day or night. Fact.

IceNoSlice · 17/09/2013 12:21

I'm planning to hire a bed nest bedside cot thingy from the NCT. I was looking on eBay for them and they go for a lot of £ (unless you are v lucky, it is collection only and you live somewhere remote).

I BF DS in a rocking chair, and laid him in his cot after each feed. But sometimes he wouldn't settle when I put him down after a feed and I would be up for ages, knackered. So I'd take him into the spare bed. Because i didn't want him falling off or getting smothered by the duvet, I ended up putting him nearly in the middle of the bed and pulling the duvet to my side. During the night he seemed to wriggle closer and closer to me so I'd end up with a tiny bit of bed.

I'm hoping the bed nest would solve this as i could ease him/her back into his/her own little space. And I'd stay in the same room as DH.

faithfulandtruthful · 17/09/2013 12:23

Pram there is a good reason behind it but just didn't want you to get your hopes up. Also if you were expecting bump photo's there are none for two reasons, no one knows I'm pregnant, so pretty sure it might be a give away but also I don't have a bump to photograph! Not complaining though as I can now well and truly feel the growing womb in my tummy (Plus baby flutters now and then), thinking I've not got long to wait now.

Fox There is no such thing as professional in my game! I'm one of the family not a professional, so I don't need to be treated as such Hmm .

I don't think my boss likes that I am quite close to one of 'her' friends but I figured I am going to be long term friends with this person way after my job has finished and not to waste too much time worrying how it would make my boss feel (life is too short to miss out on a good friend), think it was a case of oneupmanship (ie. i know something about F&T you don't know type thing).

Sucks that your boss told everyone, did you know that they all knew or did you go round paranoid wondering who knew and who didn't? I know I'm going to stand in the playground on Wednesday wondering who knows. Stupid thing is I don't think I would have been half as upset if she had told anyone other that this one person (I think she knows it too, which is so hurtful, I thought I had left primary school behind me).

Oh Saggy I'm sorry you are going through this Flowers

All the best for Thursday x

faithfulandtruthful · 17/09/2013 12:28

Saggy How scary for you. I will keep my fingers crossed that all goes well with the amnio. Makes me feel like an arse for getting upset about my stupid boss. Do let us know how it goes.

F&T

BNmum · 17/09/2013 12:38

Sorry to hear that saggy, I hope it goes well on Thurs.

Jolleigh · 17/09/2013 12:42

Sorry you're going through this Saggy Sad x

MTBMummy · 17/09/2013 12:48

Saggy - keeping fingers and toes crossed for you for Thursday

F&T my boss the same thing, but when I was only 6 weeks! I was fuming, I told him in confidence due to previous miscarriages, and he told my director and all my team - I was so close to walking out - but I need the maternity pay

OP posts:

Echoing the others' thoughts and keeping everything crossed that tomorrow goes well Saggy

Edamame · 17/09/2013 13:11

Thinking of you Saggy. Presumably your husband/partner is going with you on Thursday? Wishing you all the best Thanks

commsgirl · 17/09/2013 13:12

Saggy I'm so sorry you're going through that. Like you said, the odds are still on your side. Will be thinking about you on Thursday.

commsgirl · 17/09/2013 13:24

F&T How unprofessional of her, I'd be fuming!

Grey Such a shame about the house. I understand her not wanting to take the risk but if you've proven you're secure then I see no reason for her not to rent to you. We've just put a deposit down on our perfect house after finding three other 'perfect' ones and it not working out for one reason or another. You'll find one that's meant to be.

In puppy news, after giving us a massive fright the little terror is now on rest for the next couple of months until he's fully grown. The aim is to stop his condition degenerating any further which, if it works, will enable him to live a full and normal adult life. So much better than we initially thought. He's perfectly happy spending all his time relaxing on the sofa!

faithfulandtruthful · 17/09/2013 13:29

MTB at six weeks only three people plus my useless locum GP knew when I was 6 weeks, I was so lucky not to have Morning sickness.

F&T

FoxMulder · 17/09/2013 13:40

Sorry to hear your news Saggy but as you say, 80% chance of everything being fine. It's easier said than done, but it's true what they say about not worrying about the things you can't control.

Ice I was looking into renting a bednest from NCT too, but was a bit disappointed its £120!

F&T My boss told me when I came back that everyone knew. It was a bit of a weird situation though, because everyone knew they weren't supposed to know so no-one said anything to me for the first couple of weeks.

FoxMulder · 17/09/2013 13:41

Good puppy news comms Smile

BadlyWrittenPoem · 17/09/2013 13:48

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

PainAuxRaisins, arguably I wasn't mad enough to consider a third child as this one was unexpected although I did intend on considering it in a few years time.

Prambo, thanks for the badly written poem - it was so badly done I didn't realise it was until someone else pointed it out!

BadlyWrittenPoem · 17/09/2013 13:52

Jolleigh - if you see your GP you should be able to get something prescribed for contipation. I am on lactulose because it's a side effect of my medication.

RaspberrysAndIcecream · 17/09/2013 13:54

F&T that's awful that ur boss told. Really shit. But sometimes they just don't think - my boss told her best mate - who I know, but in a way of I can't believe that someone other than raspberry is going to look after my children. The kids have only had me looking after them.

I told the kids yesterday, they are really excited. The older asked if it meant I was going to have a day off - I said maybe longer - he said like what, a week?!!! Bless him!! The younger one thinks its going to be his baby brother. (They've decided it's a boy!) so I had to gently explain it won't actually be his brother but he can pretend and he can give it cuddles like it would be!!!
