Hi everyone! Been away for a bit and lost the previous thread.

MrsAVB · 13/09/2013 15:25

Afternoon all!
Meant to say this before but Argos have a baby sale on at the moment and they have those full body length pillow for preggos at half price, £12.49 I think, plus tens machines with £5 off and loads of other stuff.
Does anyone have maternity tights recommendations? I bought some blooming marvellous ones from mothercare, in the smallest size, and despite being taller than average and having longer legs than average they are still too saggy in the legs - but fit really well round bump.
X

enjoyingscience · 13/09/2013 16:05

I bought some H&M ones which are tiny! I'm usually a medium, so thought that would equate, but they are halfway down my legs :(

Maybe we should swap Grin

enjoyingscience · 13/09/2013 16:09

This is the best thing in argos, surely? www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/207612.htm

I've reserved a pillow though - fingers crossed for some sleeeeep!

MrsAVB · 13/09/2013 16:40

Hahaha... I can't believe there's a market for maternity witch costumes!

Sultanajo · 13/09/2013 16:47

Thats hilarious! Bring on halloween! Dont know how I have managed all this time without that costume! Grin

Hmmmm, may have to look into the full body pillow....

Sultanajo · 13/09/2013 16:51

Ok body pillow ordered - will go and collect it tonight! Heres to a fabulous nights sleep ladies! Grin

BookTart · 13/09/2013 18:24

I am now sad that I have shunned a fancy dress wedding science - I could have worn that beauty! Instead I'm stuck with a boring maternity dress.

Gah, work is being a bit tricky. Everyone has just assumed that I'll be going back, and so they are all being lovely and making my job permanent before I go on leave and making the job description more interesting and planning to recruit maternity cover. It'll be super-awkward when I tell them I'm not coming back! I keep being asked to apply for a promotion as well, even though I'm off on mat leave in December. Starting to feel a bit bad! Is giving up work a terrible thing to do? Will I regret it?

Sorry to hear about the GD tarka. What a pisser about the chocolate being so grim :(

lovelilies · 13/09/2013 18:54

Right ladies, I'm having serious lady garden issues....
not allowed to immac when pg, shaving is difficult and spiky bits ugh, been considering a wax but I'm a wax virgin (apart from eyebrows)... Grin
How are you all managing this dilemma? Wink

Frizz1986 · 13/09/2013 18:57

I am currently still in some normal thick tights but my thin ones fall down from my bump. Got some mat leggings from asos but they fit nice around the legs but are baggy around my back at the top of the bump. Maybe should have gone for a small but it said medium because i am tall. Really hope i fit them soon as cant really afford to get any more and my whole plan was leggings under baggy dresses/long tops.
I have a full body pillow from my sister but it hasn't stopped me from aching. I did start using it at 14 weeks to get into the habit so it would prob be a lot worse without it. It def makes it amusing getting back into bed after peeing as you have to navigate the pillow lol.

book i wouldn't worry about not going back. I will prob have to go back but would rather not. I will def have to work as cant afford to be a SAHM (would love it beyond anything if i could be) but as i am getting rid of my car in Dec, for me to go back to where i am we would have to get me another car (2nd hand) but it might not be something we can afford so i might have to find a different job. I am of course telling my bosses when they ask that i don't think i can afford to not return. Therefore i am not lying but as my boss is convinced that i really want to come back its best to keep it that way. Always good to leave the door open!

Lady garden issues? Being a hardened waxer of many years have been hot waxing til recently. Now it's trimming and the epilator, just cos it's less hassle and bump is beginning to get in way!

I do like those immac bikini strips. They really grip everything and give a neat finish. I use the when I can't be bothered or when travelling. Should be good for a newbie waxer and they come with wipes for afterwards. Just remember to trim first!

Naturegirl82 · 13/09/2013 19:41

love I'm being waxed. It hurt the first time (but got through it and full leg wax) second time was a lot less painful. I'm going to stick with it as the more you have the less it hurts.

I had to buy a new coat only because I forgot to pack one when going away with work. Don't know how long it will still fit but does up over the bump at the moment.

My GTT came back fine thankfully. A little surprised by that as I had insulin resistance before. Bit worried I will still get it as I was tested early though I'm sure I'm just being a worry wort!

sultanajo fx yours comes back ok. Your jumping boobs made me laugh Grin

Bubs has been very active this week. Even felt a few high kicks and seen tummy move.

Need to go bra shopping again tomorrow. Getting very uncomfortable by the end of the day.

I'm finding sleeping ok. No pains here (apart from stiff neck from sleeping funny!). Even managing not to get up to pee. Unfortunately puppy has started waking in middle of night so not having undisturbed sleep Sad

sarah still thinking of your niece.

That's really all I can remember. Been a manic week at work as I've been away. Also some restructuring going on which is a little disconcerting. My role is fine but makes for an uncomfortable atmosphere at the moment. Sad So glad it's the weekend

Sultanajo · 13/09/2013 19:53

frizz I am with u! I am doing the same but deep down hoping I can think about at least dropping some hours.....would love to be a SAHM....I dont think I would regret it book if we could afford for me not to go back....

love I have been shaving blind about once a week for swimming - its a challenge and a tad dangerous! I have heard others saying how painful waxing is in pregnancy and I find it horrendous normally and I would worry the pain would make me pee myself! Soooo not worth it! Blush I am struggling even more with sorting out my ever growing toe nails!

Collected the argos body pillow. Its smaller than it looked in the pic, but will see how it goes tonight....Grin

Sultanajo · 13/09/2013 20:00

nature and tooth you are both well ard! Grin Putting me very much to shame with my wussiness! Blush

nature so glad your results were negative. Dont think we will ever stop worrying!

flyawayblue · 13/09/2013 20:07

Wanted to pop in and say hello to you all. I'm due 15th January and expecting a baby girl Smile

Still really tired all the time which is irritating and makes it hard to do things.

Has everyone got things sorted now? Rooms set up for example.

Sultanajo · 13/09/2013 20:10

Congrats flyaway! Have now bought most of the large items but they are all still in their boxes....

Spacefrog35 · 13/09/2013 20:13

I've never been brave enough to wax but I'm going to have to try soon, been shaving as normal but my skin has gotten so sensitive & I'm getting awful itchy rashes Blush. Might give those strips a try, thank you whoever recommended them.

Definitely a thank chrunchie it's Friday day today, although why does the smelly weirdo on the train always sit next to me Confused

Toothfairy78 · 13/09/2013 20:15

Say has anyone been getting cramp at all?

I have had cramp maybe only a handful of times ever in my life. This past week I've been woken up by cramping calf muscle 3 times! I'm eating a banana a day and religiously taking mum-to-be vits.

Any tips?

Naturegirl82 · 13/09/2013 20:29

No advice tooth but I feel your pain. I've been getting calf cramp for the past few months.

MrsAVB · 13/09/2013 20:31

love I am embracing the hairy foof as was having the same dilemma... and trimming with scissors, not ideal but I can't be bothered with anything else.
frizz I got mat leggings from new look, they were in a mat basics pack with a bump band and vest, the leggings and bump band are both really good.
book I am in a similar position at work, I prob won't go back but want to leave the door open to if I change my mind, but feel bad about not being entirely honest. But they have been pretty crappy about mat stuff so I don't feel too bad.
tooth I've had calf cramp pretty much from the start, usually at night, and haven't found a cure. Midwife did recommend potassium high foods; bananas, tomatoes and apparently chocolate! Good excuse!
X

Sultanajo · 13/09/2013 20:49

mrsa loving the excuse for chocolate!

For cramp I have read that avoiding pointing your toes in bed is meant to help. I have thankfully so far only had it a couple of times but can really sympathise with those suffering as it was mega painful!!!

Have put the egg crate foam mattress topper on the bed and tested it - feels really comfy so I am hopeful it will help. Got my body pillow too - am actually looking forward to bed tonight. If the heartburn would now just do one I would be a happy sultana! Grin

chocoloulou33 · 13/09/2013 21:12

Hello ladies. Not sure if anyone remembers me but I was around a lot in the first 12 weeks. I had a mumsnet break as was having some problems and just shut myself away from everything and didnt want to talk about it at the time. Basically suffer from major anxiety and have panic attacks etc. The pregnancy seemed to make me 10 times worse as I had been fine for so long. Am off my meds obviously being pregnant and didnt want to go back on them. Anyway got rly low for a month or so and have been a nightmare to live with. Poor OH lol. Last few weeks have been so much better and think I'm finally turning a corner. Just feel so guilty feeling like this as am so happy to be pregnant but my body thinks otherwise hmmm.
Have had a little read and trying to keep up with u all again lol. Missed u guys. Im 23 weeks now with a little boy. Really need to start buying soon. I kept everything from my daughter but wont be able to use a lot of that haha x

enjoyingscience · 13/09/2013 21:58

Welcome flyaway! Does having a small ile of boxes count as having a room ready Grin

Nice to see you back choco, and glad you are feeling a bit more on an even keel.

Mythreeknights · 13/09/2013 22:31

Hi another well it's you and me with the placenta praevia then! I am not being re scanned until 32 weeks so its interesting that you are being re scanned at 28. I had a low placenta with my last pg and it did move up on its own, but it is a real shame to not have nookies until it is safe. I am also fearful as a friend had the same and her dd was born at 27 weeks with an abrupted placenta...luckily she was in hospital at the time so they saved both lives. Anyhow...not to be too dramatic or anything, but I wanted to shout out and say you are not alone!

AnotherStitchInTime · 13/09/2013 22:52

Hey Mythree, it is scary, but most placentas do move unless like me you have had previous c-sections then it is 50/50. I also have a 40% chance of placenta accreta due to my history so that is why they are doing a 28 week scan as well as 32 weeks. This RCOG guide explains it nicely.
