Thought I'd start a new one..

But will make sure no-one's left on the old one.

Hope everyone is blooming and not too hot!

Thank goodness it's cooling down a bit! Back to 'blooming' rather than hot and sweaty.

Have we progressed any further on the meeting up thread? Must check later. If no-one else has done so, will suggest a few dates.

Thanks for doing the new thread Gemmitygem - the last one was taking ages to scroll down.

nowanearlyNicemum · 20/06/2006 12:45

I'm sweltering here - we're in the 30s - am starting to dread august :(
have a wedding to go to this weekend so am trying to see what I can (and can't) fit into. only hitch is it's 10hours in the car to get there and 10 hours to get back - woohoo!!
got my 'other' scan tomorrow so am hoping they'll be able to see a bit better than last week's one. will keep you posted.

Gingeme · 20/06/2006 12:56

Good afternoon ladies. I found you. Im so glad its cooled down a bit. Feel a bit more energised today which is brill. Going to a bbq later. My friends dd is 13 and shes got a ds of a year so shes sorted loads of his stuff out for me. Cant wait to ooh and aah over it all. My cousin also has a ds of about the same age and were going to hers for lunch tomm and shes got a chair, sling, bath, and loads of clothes for me. YIPPEE! Grin

Seona1973 · 20/06/2006 13:03

Only 2 weeks till my 4D scan - looking forward to it so much. Hope baby will co-operate by being in a decent position!!

Am currently signed of work as my mum had a heart attack a few weeks ago and as she looked after my dd the 2 days I was at work I have no-one to take care of her. What with that and my awful holiday I am not having the best pregnancy. I am off with 'anxiety' apparently. I am also taking my maternity leave as soon as I can as mum will not be able to cope with dd for 2 whole days for quite some time. Just under 5 weeks to go - yippee!!

Anyone else suffering with pelvic pain? I am not sure if it was swimming on Saturday that brought it on or whether it is the start of SPD but it isnt nice whatever it is. Goodness I am a bit moany today, arent I? Wink

majormoo · 20/06/2006 13:34

Seona sorry to hear about your mum. Hope she recovers completely soon.

I am moany too Seona. I felt really sorry for myself over the weekend-had a lovely family party for my dad's 75th birthday, but my hayfever has been so terrible I just felt awful throughout. What with the hayfever, feeling massive in the heat, stressing about all the things I have to get done over the next couple of months, I really did feel sorry for myself.

Feeling better today. Had midwife appointment earlier and it was nice to hear the heartbeat. Glad to have made it to 24weeks as well-feels like another milestone reached.

Hope everyone is well and you are enjoying your honeymoon wuzzle.

Can't wait for our holiday to France on Friday.

Highlander · 20/06/2006 13:44

OMG, we'll be in the 3rd trimester soon - I can't believe time is going by so quickly!!

Got my CS date for 9th Oct, hopefully nice and early. Having panic attacks about the post natal "care", but will hopefully slip back into denial again soon

catgirl · 20/06/2006 14:22

hi -haven't posted in ages - went to mallorca on holiday in May (great time, might to back next year), then work really busy, and also felt a bit moany and as I was boring myself didn't want to bore anyone else!

Seona - sorry to hear you are having a bad time. can I ask a dumb question - what is the 4th dimension in a 4D scan?? my brain has turned to mush.

had 20 week scan last week and didn't want to know whether the bump is a boy or girl - am I the only one not to know?

will try and do better at keeping up with this thread!

DogMum · 20/06/2006 14:38

I've found you! Good idea Gemmitygem - the old one was getting a bit long.

I'm sorry to hear about your mum, Seona. I hope she has a quick recovery. I'm sure the thought of a baby to look forward to will give her a lift.

I've been moany lately. DP mentioned the name we've been thinking of out loud in front of his sister the other day. I was so upset and convinced there was something wrong with the baby and that my Down's prognosis was all wrong and basically feeling awful about the pregnancy. Then a friend told me to 'get a grip', that someone saying a name out loud wasn't going to cause birth defects. Bloody hormones. I still want to try and think of another name though. I'm sure I didn't used to be like this - I can't remember what it was like not to be pregnant anymore - to just go to the wardrobe and take anything out and be able to get it on.

nowanearly - I went to a party on Sunday and couldn't get into the dress I tried on last Wednesday! I'd advise choosing something with a few days growing room.

Hopefully everyone else is ready for the 3rd trimester. I'm certainly not, but I've got a few weeks. It's shocking how quickly this is going. Even if we have a weekend off the decorating/mucking out, the baby is still getting ready regardless. Scary.

Apologies for the long post, but I'm supposed to be doing the cleaning/housework at the moment and this is much nicer.

DogMum · 20/06/2006 14:44

Isn't the fourth dimension the movement? Actually I don't know - should leave this one to Seona.

We didn't find out either, catgirl. DP didn't want to know and I wasn't desperate to know so we didn't ask. Everyone seems to have their own views though - 'Ooh it's definitely a girl/boy because of the way you're carrying', 'It's definitely a boy because you weren't very sick', 'It's definitely a girl because a medium told me.' It makes me want to swear! It would be nice to be able to shut half of them up, but that's probably not the right reason to find out.

catgirl · 20/06/2006 15:11

Dogmum Smile - I have had that too - 'ohh - you've been sick, must be girl' (wasn't ill at all last time), and other such nonesense - so long as healthy and happy (and thin coming out!) I don't mind. We can't remember how I carried last time so don't know if I am a different shape or not! oh well, half way to finding out.

nowanearlyNicemum · 20/06/2006 15:19

we don't know whether we're having a pink one or a blue one either, catgirl. I just love surprises!!
thanks for the advice re my outfit DogMum. really really want to wear a pretty outfit that I wore for a wedding last time I was pregnant but have tried it on and the trousers are quite snug!! will have to take a back up with me I think :o

Sunshine78 · 20/06/2006 15:44

I don't know either!

Sorry to hear your having a bad time at the Mo Seona - if it helps I've spent most of today at work either crying or in a daze! No real reason only prob working with women you don't know who to believe!

whiffy · 20/06/2006 16:13

Ooooo. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling sorry for myself - everything is falling to bits with me - have been having physio for pelvic problems for last 3 weeks and yesterday was advised to go for elective CS given pelvic damage last time which has put me in a flap as the doctor has left it as my call completely on what I do, so I now have big decision to make which is stressing me no end. And am now having to 'put my feet up' on train home and for 15 mins each lunchtime (I have v high water retention during pregnancy). I really do feel as old as the hills these days. Have brought forward my maternity leave and am now leaving on 31 July, which is fab although not sure how we will survive financially...

By the way, NowNice, I admire you taking on a 10 hour each-way drive - hope DH treats you right and you grab loads of cornetto's on route.

Confirmation if ever I needed it that I have gone completely insane is that this Friday I am going camping with a girlfriend and our two toddlers. For some reason it seemed like a good idea at the time... hahahahahahaha Chances of even getting the tent up by ourselves seem remote, let alone hunting and gathering for the kids.

Meet-up For those who haven't hooked onto the meet-up thread I have tentatively suggested a date of 11th July for a meet-up in London. Add your name to the list either on the meet-up thread or here if you want to come.

Swizzler · 20/06/2006 16:13

Glad I'm not the only one feeling grumpy! Back at work, problems sleeping (TOO HOT), feeling HUGE and I've hurt my foot so not getting much exercise. Will try a session at the gym this afternoon (being nice to foot) to get myself moving again. Fed up with clothes as well - maternity stuff makes me look like a whale.

Sorry to hear about your mum Seona - sounds like starting your mat leave early is a great idea. I'm starting to think that working until 37 weeks is a tad optimistic, esp if the hot weather lasts.

marthahm · 20/06/2006 16:30

i've been thinking about the maternity leave too and thinking the same thing swizzler.
seona sorry about your mum.

for those of you that are starting to get pelvic pain i won't bang on about the wonders of my profession, but i cannot recommend osteopathy highly enough for pubic symphysis dysfunction. it really can help. if any of you need a recommendation just let me know roughly where you live and i can find you an osteopath that deals with pregnant women.
i'm going to look at the meet up thread, i'm really pleased i can do the 11th.
nowanearly have you tried natalys, i've got a brilliant dress from there, it's v. simple stretchy cotton and they do it in black and brown. i've worn it to 2 weddings already!

majormoo · 20/06/2006 16:31

I have said I will finish 21st September which seems such a long time away (37 weeks as well by then). I only work 3 days a week though.

We had a surprise last time catgirl and it was such an amazing moment when we found out we had a girl (especially as EVERYONE said I had a boy bump last time). Couldn't resist finding out this time though!

Gingeme · 20/06/2006 16:44

Oh dear ladies were not having fun are we? Isnt this the part where were supposed to smile and tentavely pat our rounding bellies and say'aaaah'. Im expecting another boy and carried every one completel different adn it realy peed me off at the beginning of each pragnancy if I was sick or had a migrane or anything slightly different people automaticaly said 'Oh its a girl cause you didnt have that last time!' Angry. Thats one of the reasons we asked this time so if anyone even opened their moth to try I can say'we know its a boy'. Sorry about your Mum Seona if its any help my Mum had a massive heart attack about 8 years ago. She actualy passed away and they bought her back and shes 100% fully recovered now. I wont go on about how good Im feeling at the moment then as your all so cross with life at the mo.
11th July sounds ok at the mo. Ill ask dh if he can book it as a day off work then I wont have to worry about rushing back etc.

catgirl · 20/06/2006 16:48

love the fact that I am not the only one to not know ... have another scan (taking part in some research) in a couple of weeks - will have to resist the urge to ask.

admire those that are driving long distances for weddings and also those that are camping (I haven't camped for years and could not envisage it with a bump and toddler) - have fun Smile.

hope to make 11th (seeing if dh can be home on time).

I am hoping (all being well) to finish work 29 Sept -but due date isn't til 31 Oct.

Seona1973 · 20/06/2006 19:36

You were right Dogmum, the 4th dimension is 'time' ie you get a series of 3D scans over a period of time. This is what the Babyscanning website says:

What is a 4D ultrasound scan?

4D refers to the 4th dimension of time resulting in a real time moving 3D image of the foetus. The 4D scan is created by taking a series of consecutive 3D scans over a period of time.

However, to produce a moving 4D scan of the foetus the ultrasound scanning equipment first needs to have the capability of generating 3D scans.

Pelvic pain has eased a little today. Marthahm, I live in North Lanarkshire, Scotland if you know anyone in that area. Unfortunately I wont be able to make it to the meet up as its just a tad too far away!!

Gemmitygem · 21/06/2006 05:35

Morning all!

Seona, hope things feel better today.. I found that walking made pelvic pain a LOT worse, but stationary cycling, cross trainer machine was fine. It's now gone away almost completely after not walking anywhere and just doing fixed exercises and pilates vid. It seemed to be anything that waggles your hips made it worse..

So we're all feeling moany! I too thought this was supposed to be the 'sweetness and light' trimester. My mum said 'don't worry, you'll just feel bovine, like a lovely happy cow!' well maybe, but definitely an angry bovine! I get so impatient at work and swear quietly all the time, sure I wasn't like this before

flying back to UK for mat leave on 4 August, as want to make 100% sure I do not have the baby in Kazakhstan, but have hols with DH and ILs planned for italy for end of Aug, will be flying back at 34 weeks so a bit apprehensive about the baby coming early, but the alternative was driving to Italy in the heat (or not going of course, i hear more sensible people say).

Isn't it a pain how people literally stare at your belly? And ask you silly questions. I'd love to get some t shirts printed that say'

'Yes, I'm pregnant.
It's due October 12
It's our first.
Don't know the sex.
Do know the father.
Feel fine, thanks.
Now goodbye and have a nice day!'

It would just make my day so much more efficient. (there we go, more nasty impatience). Time to hide behind my desk sulking..

Yes, GemmityGem - it's the way you have to smile at people while you answer the same bloody questions again and again. We're going away for a few days at the end of this month and we're going by car. Nowhere near as adventurous as nowanearly though - at least I sincerely hope it doesn't take 10 hrs to drive from London to Bath. It's supposed to be our last holiday as a couple. DP is totally against me flying while pregnant. I know - loads of people do it and it's fine, but if he wants to pay for a posh hotel in Bath and afternoon tea in the Pump room, I'm not arguing. Besides, my Dad is looking after our dog for us and I don't think I could leave him for longer. We normally go on walking holidays with the dog. I have to force myself though. I don't know how long I'm going to be in hospital for, so we may as well both get used to less time together. He'll have a fabulous time. It's just me.

We'll have to set a place for you at the meet-up Seona and toast absent friends.

DogMum · 21/06/2006 09:04

btw whiffy, my sister came camping when she was about five months with her second. It was fine, but try not to pitch your tent too far from the loos. I'm sure you'll have a whale of a time.

Swizzler · 21/06/2006 09:16

Yes, the questions do get a bit irritating after a while, and the double-takes when people haven't seen me for a while! Yes, I am getting bigger, no I'm not due until October... OH is convinced baby will be here early as I've grown so much. Could be all that ice cream on holiday.

Is anyone else having problems sleeping again? I was fine on holiday (prob cos more relaxed) but now I'm up at least twice to go to the loo and end up feeling knackered. Naps aren't an option while I'm still working - any tips?
