OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yeah welcome to the team freaking (probably) :)

Movements - how long does it take before they can be felt from the outside? I've been making poor DH sit with his hand on my tum for hours and he can never feel a thing.

Vitamins - I'm still taking, no problem remembering because no way am I forgetting to take my cyclizine! I threw them up a lot in the first trimester but was told the same thing by the doctor - as long as you're healthy before the pregnancy, it's not that big of a deal.

ras welcome, I assume this is your first baby? Don't be disappointed, little boys are brilliant (we are expecting a girl but I love spending time with my nephews and I would've been happy either way) and the bond between mother and son is a really special one.
I'm also in the position of not working - I quit my job in July because I had terrible HG and worked in a very small team so it wasn't like someone else could just cover me; I was planning to quit in December anyway so I figured I'd just bring it forward and let them find my replacement.
Boredom hasn't been a problem for me because I've been too busy being/feeling sick :(
Am doing a bit better now and luckily we are off on holiday for 3 weeks (work trip for DH, holiday for me!) and once we're back I've got to finish my MA dissertation and then am hoping to occupy myself with sorting the house out and basically enjoying all the things I won't be able to do once baby arrives e.g reading all the books on my to-read list.

I would suggest you do some volunteering but it often takes ages to get set up, though I think something like a charity shop would be quite quick (anything with kids/other vulnerable people needs CRB checks which can take a couple of months - though maybe you're already checked)
Are you doing any ante natal yoga/swimming/etc classes? That's another way to fill a couple of hours a week!

S2012 · 23/09/2013 11:32

Morning everyone, haven't posted for a while but am so happy for some of you who have found team yellow/pink/blue. congratulations to everyone.
Sorry for some of you who are still feeling the dreadful sickness. who says it goes away after 16 weeks, mine is going on for ever although not bad as some of you.

I have my scan this week so will find out if team blue/pink. I hate surprises so can't wait. Last night when I was tossing and turning I got sharp pain on my right hand side of my tummy/waist, I got up screaming in pain. Not sure what happened. The pain was still there when I got up this morning. don't know what to do :(

SugarMiceInTheRain · 23/09/2013 13:18

S2012 If the pain is still there and pretty much constant, I would ring the community MW or the Antenatal Unit at the hospital. I had something along those lines when expecting DS1, turned out it was a water infection, so they put me on antibiotics but apparently untreated water infections can trigger premature labour so they said I'd done the right thing, going to the hospital. Hope everything is ok, hope the pain (and your sickness) subsides and that your scan goes well.

Camwombat · 23/09/2013 13:40

marzi my DH felt a kick the other night, it probably helps that he knows what he is feeling for. DS got a kick to the head earlier which freaked him out, life's tough for him at moment and is suffering with separation anxiety won't leave mummy alone

champagne I never sent you that link, will do it this afternoon, my head is like a sieve!

Jealous of all the gender specific clothing you are all buying. I just know I'm going to give in and get a gender scan if I don't get growth scans. But on the plus side we do have two names. Phew.

S2012 · 23/09/2013 13:47

Thanks for the advice sugarmice I will ring the MW tomorrow as am at work now. the pain is still there so I am now worried.
aw am so excited for those who are feeling the kicks now

winterflowers · 23/09/2013 14:19

Eeeurgh I agree with all the talk abt small meals...just had a mini lunch And Really want one of The cookies staring at me but can't even contemplate fitting anything else in!

Welcome ras, and zazou really hope it goes/went well today with the heart specialist. Thinking of u and do let us all know

laura0007 · 23/09/2013 16:27

Hope everything is ok zazou.

I seem to have mislaid 4lb since I weighed myself two weeks ago. No idea where it's gone as my bump is getting bigger daily. Should I be worried? I haven't been stuffing myself silly but I haven't been starving myself either. Sad
Just to point out if I wasn't pregnant I'd be ecstatic about loosing weight without trying but I feel guilty that I'm somehow harming my little baby

tinypolkadot · 23/09/2013 16:47

Just back from my scan and we're team blue! Total surprise but so happy Grin I've been convinced it was a girl but recently started to hope it was a boy, so feeling dead chuffed.

Was anyone else in pain at their scan? It hurt so much! I'm hoping it's just my muscles being sore as she was not being delicate with me.

Also got an alterior placenta, lucky me Confused

Sassy20 · 23/09/2013 17:12

Congratulations Tiny - glad its the result you wanted. A week tomorrow I'll find out hopefully and really have no idea whether girl or boy! X

212VIP · 23/09/2013 17:15

Oh noooooo. Just went to order the ASOS Parka but I was too late and the code had expired :(

tinypolkadot · 23/09/2013 17:20

Thanks Sassy, I feel so happy and excited, seems even more real now! I was so worried about the baby too, so was walking on air leaving the hospital knowing everything was ok. Hope yours goes well next week!

Thingymajigs · 23/09/2013 17:27

Congrats tiny. Welcome to team blue. Smile My scans were uncomfortable because baby insisted on staying face down for both so he (male scanners for both) put a lot of pressure on my stomach to try to turn the baby and get a better pic but it didn't help.

heidihole · 23/09/2013 18:25

Congrats to everyone finding out sex of babies, and to everyone who hasn't found out (iron wills!)

We are having a second boy. Admit to a bit of a teary day or two (as we are stopping after this one) as I always imagined a future with a daughter in it. Never mind, all looking healthy!

Scan actually showed placenta previa meaning that the placenta is latched on to the bottom of the womb, blocking the "way out"

This means i'll definitely be having an elective section, prob end of Jan, at about 38 weeks.

Really not happy with this news! Bit worried as will have a 20 month old too. Bugger. This wasn't the plan!

littlestgirlguide · 23/09/2013 18:37

Placenta previa doesn't always Have tomean a CS. My Sister in law had one shown up at 20 week scan, but by 30 weeks it had moved and my nephew was born normally last year. Hope it's the same for you!

LittlePandaBear · 23/09/2013 18:45

Good news about the scans everyone - also sorry for those who don't have the gender they imagined. There is still a lot of time to get used to it before they're born so I'm sure you will feel more positive soon.

Can I ask how long the scans were? Mine is Friday and trying to plan for things after it! Do I need a full bladder? I did go through this 3 years ago but can't remember!

barebranches · 23/09/2013 18:48

mines on friday too panda half excited half terrified!!!!
can feel baby moving lots now.. its strange! Grin

laura0007 · 23/09/2013 18:50

Congrats on all the scan news.
Littlepanda it takes about 30 mins so don't be dying for a wee before you go in!

212VIP · 23/09/2013 19:04

little I had mine today and was busting for a wee when we got there. We arrived twenty minutes early (so thought I'd be able to find a toilet first) and they called me in before we'd even sat down.
I asked the lady if it was ok if I went to the loo and she said she didn't need me to have a full bladder.
Took about 20/30 minutes but we had a lovely friendly sonographer who couldn't stop showing us things so I can imagine it might be shorter?

Feel on cloud nine today. Baby was beautiful and reminded me so much of DS1. I can't wait to meet him/her now.
I also have a anterior placenta which is why I'm not feeling anywhere near as much as with the last two DC's.

Measurements showed average head, small tummy and long legs. So it'll no doubt be another one that's the image of my baby brother like DS1!

Thingymajigs · 23/09/2013 19:23

Mine was 30 mins and then another 10 mins when we went back in for a second check.
212, our baby boy apparently has a large stomach, average head and very short legs. Poor kid, he never stood a chance with us being so short. It's so strange being able see genetic familiarities with your baby at this stage.

LittlePandaBear · 23/09/2013 19:35

Thanks - 30 mins sounds good. Then i have to call my mum and sister, collect DD from my in laws, tell my in laws, then get to diddi dance with DD for a dancing session! Hurry up week!

I'm nervous about Friday but baby is kicking/squirming lots this week so it's reassuring. DH also felt it at the weekend when he put his hand on my tummy even though I didn't think it was that strong yet :)

I got some Dominos pizza BOGOF vouchers today through the door and am awaiting my pizza. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

DawnOfTheDee · 23/09/2013 19:41

Hi all and congrats on all the scans!

I am in PAIN. For the last 2 days have had horrible sharp shooting pains in my left lower back. Makes me catch my breath/brings a tear to my eye.

Went to docs...ruled out urine infection and said to me it's probably muscular due to being pg. Suggested paracetamol and hot water bottles. I'll see how things go but if it doesn't improve i'll have to go back and ask for a physio referral or something. This cannot continue!

mrscookie78 · 23/09/2013 19:49

yay to everyone having scans, hope zazou and ras are ok? my scan is this Thursday am, bit nervous after last time Shock

winterflowers · 23/09/2013 19:51

dawn definitely get a physio referral, i ha d exactly the same pain, i even got stuck on the loo because i couldnt move Blush and I had to ask for mine and it's quite a wait but sure it'll be worth it. For what its worth the pain has massively eased off now and i dont feel like a oap cripple anymore - hope it's the same for u. And get a massage too that might help :)

laura it never happens when you want (dreading after birth weight losing) but am sure that if you're eating healthily and as much as feels right then your little bean is fine

Congrats to everyone who had good news and healthy babies of all shapes and sizes at scans today

vix206 · 23/09/2013 20:13

Dawn this is exactly what I have had with both pregnancies. If you search for my name on this thread you'll see my advice on it. Basically get a good massage. It has totally sorted me out.

DawnOfTheDee · 23/09/2013 20:17

Cheers winter and vix. I'm already looking at things online and will ask for a physio referral if i have to go back to the gp.
