So exciting to be feeling kicks champagne! I feel your pain about sickness. I feel so shit today. Got a cold and am tired which just seems to make me feel bloody awful again and feel so sick Hmm I think I may actually have a cry about it and sit feeling sorry for myself a bit. Hopefully we'll feel better tomorrow

sunflowered · 22/09/2013 16:47

Another reason to stick where I am I think then!! in a previous job with a less considerate employer a colleague with a 3 week old was given special consideration by being allowed to commute daily to Cornwall for a project (320 mile round trip) rather than stay overnight 4 days a week. I don't know how he didn't fall asleep at the wheel... (he has since left, funnily enough!)

Sorry to hear about everyone else's dh working away too, it's truly rubbish.

I've been feeling a bit yuck and sick today too actually, maybe the warm weather is to blame?

Scan day tomorrow, actually really worried about it. I've been really forgetful at taking my vits now we're past the folic acid stage and now I'm worried I've not been getting enough nutrition.

I could feel baby kicking my cervix last night! Very odd sensation Hmm

marzipanned · 22/09/2013 17:49

I've been on both sides, having DH travel a lot for work and having to travel myself. I absolutely HATE DH being away - sunflowered I am so impressed that you coped for a whole year! - but I didn't enjoy travel myself either. It's no fun at all, you always end up having to do a huge amount of work to prep for the trip and then to catch up when you're back, and it's exhausting. The only things I liked were huge comfy hotel beds :)

Have been up and down with the sickness this weekend, but feeling little one so active is making it worthwhile.

Am definitely not struggling to eat normal portions, I think because I still spend at least one day a week chucking everything up, my body feels the need to make up for it on the other days!!

I'm another one with work travel, although I've avoided anything abroad since getting pregnant as I was coming back from abroad when I started the bleeding that turned into a miscarriage last time, and that was pretty awful.

Sometimes I love the travel, it can be great to see other bits of the world. And I love meeting colleagues from outside the UK. But it can be a real drag too, early starts and late finishes. Sometimes the hotels are lovely but sometimes awful! I seem to spend a disproportionate amount of down time trying to connect my laptop so I can do the day job. I think travelling once a month or two is good, anymore than that and it really affects everything. In a previous job I travelled abroad lot, every other week or so. One week it'd be Paris or Brussels, the next Korea. So it was impossible to get into a routine, and my home life was crazy. I couldn't find time to see friends, I just vegged those weekends I didn't travel, and caught up with washing etc. but it was an amazing week so I loved it really!

I've been out in the garden this afternoon. Even though bump is still small it didn't make bending over the flowerbeds very easy! But I do like getting the fresh air.

Good luck to those of you with scans this week.

vix206 · 22/09/2013 19:34

Tiny I've not taken any vits since the start and I'm vegetarian. Don't worry, it would be you that would suffer not the baby.

I didn't mean to not take them by the way, I'm just rubbish at taking pills!!

I have a reminder on my phone and still only manage to take my vitamins about once a week!

tinypolkadot · 22/09/2013 20:16

Phew, thanks everyone, you've made me feel much better about it! Grin

Eeyorish, I'm a proper homebody and all that travel sounds exciting but exhausting! Sorry about your loss, must have been awful when you were mid journey Flowers

I don't do any travelling with my job, which I'm thankful for! I travelled for 10 months in a career break a few years ago (how I met dh) and that was enough for me!

laura0007 · 22/09/2013 20:58

I'm rubbish with vitamins too.... In fact all pills that I'm supposed to take everyday. Hence me being on this thread Wink
I'm just laid in bed watching my tummy jump around! So cool!

misskatamari · 22/09/2013 21:21

It's crazy before I was pregnant I took loads of supplements every morning and never missed them and no when you'd think id be super good at it in just awful! At least I'm eating okay now so I'm sure it's all fine.

Very jealous of your active baby Laura. I feel mine sometimes but placenta in the way hinders it a lot. I guess I should be glad I'm not being woken up at all hours yet. I'm getting much more uncomfortable at night now tho and turning over seems such an effort - can't imagine when I'm actually huge! Time to read in bed and hope to be free from germs when I awake tomorrow!

laura0007 · 22/09/2013 21:34

I know Missk, I'm sure I won't find it quite so cool come Christmas, when I'm huge, uncomfortable and tired! It's not strong enough to wake me yet though, although I have slept through a smoke alarm and an earthquake... Confused

Shropshiremummy2B · 22/09/2013 21:38

I've got a squillion packets of pregnacare next to me and a pint of water and it totally baffles me how I managed to take microgynon every single day from the age of 16 to, well, 21 weeks ago! Wooops. Someone recently told me that if you can do something everyday for 28 days it will become routine. I am on day 16 of keeping my dressing room immaculate. Sadly it will be being turned into a nursery shortly so that's a frikkin waste.

I used to be the big traveller in my relationship and will miss America soooo much as I want to stock up on Ralph Lauren baby crap and tiny ugh boots. DH goes away for a couple of nights a month and it is utter bliss, no one to tidy up after and cook for.

My ASOS parka arrived, will do my fb bump pic in it this week, I'm not overly impressed but it'll do, I'm not cool enough to pull it off.

I'm feeling things in my tummy when I lie down finally. I still don't feel pregnant though, I feel like a fraudster on mn. I've got a decent gut but carry my scan pic round just to try and convince myself!

Thisisfreakingmeout · 22/09/2013 22:42

Hey all, forgot to say, after my wriggly scan on Monday I am a tentative Team Pink - squirmy was so ridiculous that both student and supervisor didn't seem sure!

Sassy20 · 22/09/2013 22:46

Congratulations on your tentative team pink Thisisfreaking - did they give you a %? With dd sonographer said she thought it was a girl so dh said how sure as a % are you?! She said 75% but I've not had anyone come back and tell me I'm wrong! Wink

rueyrichardson · 23/09/2013 07:43

Morning all. Lovely to read everyone's news; team pink/blue/yellow. Sorry to hear of uncertainty after the scan, Zazou. We have our scan tomorrow followed on Wednesday by a consultant's appointment. My last DC was a large baby so they want to talk about birth plan options. TBH I'm quite interested too! Don't fancy trying to push an 11lb -er out and ending up with an EMCS this time round. Some people manage big babies fine but I just don't have a wide enough pelvis. Ideally I would like to be induced early if it is a big one (before 40 weeks) so that we have a VBAC and I can be out of hospital smartish. Must remember to be assertive this time - with my DS I just went with the flow even though all were aware he was going to be big, and suffered the consequences. He's still big now - age 9 trousers and just started Reception. I will be team yellow tomorrow, but DH will find out what we've got (he wants to know). Pretty sure I will be sitting on his head later on in pregnancy to drag the info out of him! Grin

bugsyburge · 23/09/2013 09:10

morning ladies,

I think I'm feeling the baby move but I'm not sure... does it feel a bit like being prodded from the inside in a certain spot?

Sassy20 · 23/09/2013 09:33

Bugsy - yes that sounds like the baby moving. I was feeling proper movements for the first time last night as well. Grin

Hi all, newbie here!

Edd 6th feb and found out we're team blue! This was pretty much 100% certain as cheeky DS wouldn't stop showing off his bits!! :s

I have to admit I'm a bit dissappinted, I had wanted a girl as I have 2 sisters (one is 10 years younger) and being a girl myself I kind of think I would know how to 'deal' with them better. Does anyone else feel like that after finding out?

Been reading with interest your stories of work travels and trying to use it to convince me that life at home doing nothing is fine! I stupidly quit my job then found out I was pregnant a week later!! Have since been looking for nice easy work but either get t

ras105 · 23/09/2013 10:18

Hmm strange that posted without me knowing!

Lol anyway I either get told I am overqualified or they want someone who can stay longer or lift boxes etc! So I'm trying to be a good housewife but it is quite dull! I know I'm actually in a lucky position- anyone got any ideas of what I could do to prepare / fill my time?

I did go to an nct nearly new sale- omg the bargains!! Got so excited and ended up with loads of clothes then was given a whole box more by my in laws! They also have high high chairs / bouncers etc for me but all almost 15yrs old. Don't think that should be a problem tho. Strangest thing has been my grandma telling me off for taking the clothes home, apparently it's bad luck?!?! :s not heard that before but she was really concerned.

Omg just realised how long this is! Sorry!!

P.s. I haven't taken vitamins for ages and ages because I forget and also they trigger throwing up weirdly

SugarMiceInTheRain · 23/09/2013 10:49

Sometimes taking pregnacare tablets makes me throw up, even though my sickness has basically stopped now. So I have some of the tiny folic acid tablets to take when I can't manage the big all-in-one tablets.

Feeling pretty exhausted today. Several things to do and no energy for any of them. Maybe if I have a nap first.... Wink ras105 I have a massive list of deep cleaning/ decluttering jobs I need to do. I had a burst of energy a couple of weeks ago and accomplished quite a lot, but since then I've had no motivation. I have a fairly clear week this week so would like to get things done (lots of jobs in mind) but no energy :(
